Hi, I've just seen that there are many that has asked for a password.
The password is unique for every person, it's based on the 3 first letters in your chars name and the locations number.
There are some sites with the info about it, I think I found something about it when I was looking for info about the apparatus.
Well the numbers,
A 00
B 01
C 02
D 03
E 04

And the places:
00 Dangruf Wadi (E-11) - Fire - Red chip

03 Ordelle's Caves (E-12) - Wind - Green chip
04 Eldieme Necropolis (K-13) - Ice - Clear chip
05 Outer Horutoto Ruins (E-6) - Lightning - Purple chip
06 Garlaige Citadel (K-8) - Light - White chip
07 Maze of Shakhrami (L-10) - Dark - Black chip
The chips can be purchased from the goblins in some towns.
Blabbivix (Port Bastok) Pos: F-6
Gaudylox (San d'Oria North) Pos: F-4
Scavnix (Windurst Walls) Pos: H-4
They're all sold for about 21k.
I've read that they can be found by digging or other things. And that it's no recommended to go to the Strange Apparatuses the same day as they're strong, as some has said that they got only got wind clusters on windsday for the one in Ordelle's Caves.
Now, to get the password.
Take the 3 first letters in your name, as for an example, Nya, and we're going to Ordelle's Caves.
N = 13
Y = 24
A = 00
Now we have 132400.
And we need an 8 digit password.
Since we're going to Ordelle's Caves we'll have to add 03 to each.
13+3 24+3 00+3 = 16 27 03.
But we're still missing two digits to the password.
Put 16, 27 and 03 together.
Ta da! 46. Then add another 3 (Because of Ordelle's Caves) to 46, and we get 49 and then but it in the end.
Now we have 16270349.
That is the password for Nya in Ordelle's Caves.

This code has always worked for me the several times I've used it. You probably had an error in your calculation.
As simple and obvious as some calucations might seem lots of people make very simple errors in their calculations. Happens to everyone. If it still doesn't work for you try putting your name and answer here so you can see if they get a different answer.

I've taken the formula and made, yet another, cracker. Mainly cause the two posted below no longer work and this one is on my site and in my control... I know it won't be taken down on me. Please, test it out. So far, I only use one character and always go to Crawlers' Nest... so the code for the code generator is correct and I'm assuming it works for the rest.
Please, try it out and let me know if it did or did not work. Please take a minute to reply and let me know if it worked... if you can. You can reply here, you can put it in my guestbook... whichever, but feed back is appreciated so I can get it working 100%.

This quest is pointless now, don't bother doing it.
It has been done so much even if you register yourself as a doctor you can't possibly make a profit. If you get luck and find a rune blade it is still a loss because those are so damn rare.

That may only be the case on your server. And with the way prices have been screwed up recently, this may not be the case anymore.
I've never been to the King Rampart's Tomb or Fei'Lin ones, but does anyone know if there's a password for those too and if there is would it be the same password for a simularly colored chip area?

took me 1hr to figure out how this password **** works, it works 100% of the time.
Dont you think it would be nice to post your findings then? Ppl might like the tip on that... Nice to brag but not help?

I have been at this with some very educated LS members for several months, running numbers, keying results and spending megagil on cores and chips. Then one day a couple weeks back *BANG!* the market EXPLODES with Rune armor and weapons, the price of cores goes from 1k-50k and I think to myself, did someeone crack it? Yeah they did.
And if they are smart they wouldn't share it. My though is look at the AH see whos selling all the rune goodies...and spam /tell until they spill their gutz ^^ GL! and avoid /blacklist.

And so the code has been broken... the formula would be....? Not that I expect ANYONE to actually tell anyone else this.
Duh, the Strange Apparatus code has been broken. People can now get rune weapons, adaman nuggets, or cerment chunks 100% of the time now.

Any idea who the quest starter is? do you have to have done some dynamis runs to kick it off? things like that? Is it part of any missions (thinking zm here)

ok, when you stand in front of it lookat the crystal thing above the screen, that's the color chip u need. The odds are random and unless it's run sword it's ****.
For those who may care: The password is unique to the person. So if someone gives you their password, it will not work for you.

All the password does for you is that you will not lose your infinity core when using the apperatus. You will lose your chip, but well, for the items you get, that's not bad.
Now, my understanding is that your password does not exist until you do the quest... E.g. you can not keep guessing until it works for you, because you will not have one assigned until you do the quest in question.
Now most of this information is not confirmed, however, it is something I have been told about from several reliable sources.

Actually, you do still lose the Infinity Core. I've only done this once; I got a pair of Rune Baghnakhs. It used both the core and chip, even after I entered my password and it registered me as a doctor.
So, my guess is that it gives you a higher chance of getting better items. I'll try a few more times once I get more money for the cores. They have been fluctuating like mad in Jeuno, ranging from 10k-50k.

The password has been cracked. It's different for each person and each machine, but there's a formula to it. I have the password and it doesn't let you keep the core. All it seems to do is prevent you from getting a cluster. Whether this is tru or not has yet to be conclusively determined though.

I akso know of an Apparatus in Dangruf Wadi and one in the Horutoto Ruins (outer or inner cant remember). am goign to try if i ever get my handes on the cores for cheaper than 10k... thats jsut to much gil to play a game of chance and walk away with a cluster of same color as machine. ill ceep y'all posted.

theres a strange aparatus in gusgen also behin the second set of doors on the upper right side theres a hidden wall.
Also in Maze of Shakrami, at (K-10) of map 2. Same kind of secret room as CN.
This is dropped by statues in Dynamis. It's pretty common.

The only thing I know is, you use this Item inside the hidden room in Cnest. Use it along with the right color chip and you get something I guess.
