Ixion Cloak
First off when it comes to Ixion VS. Vermillion, Ixion wins hands down. Now when it comes to PT setup I’d normally use:
Warlock's Chapeau
[Head] All Races
DEF:23 MP+20 INT+3
Elemental Magic Skill+10
Enhances "Fast Cast" Effect
-and-
Errant Houppelande
[Body] All Races
DEF:42 STR-7 DEX-7 VIT-7 AGI-7 INT+10 MND+10 CHR+10
Enmity-3
MP recovered while healing+5
Lately I’ve been soloing and meleeing a lot. The stats on the Ixion are great:
Ixion Cloak
[Body] All Races
DEF:43 INT+13 MND+13 CHR+13
Adds "Refresh" Effect
Adds "Regen" Effect
Magic Accuracy+5
Plus INT, MND, and CHR compared to just the refresh on the Vermillion Cloak and no Evasion-10. When compared to the Errant Houppelande and Warlock's Chapeau you’re loosing:
MP+20 (but now have auto refresh)
Elemental Magic Skill+10 (but now have Magic Accuracy+5)
Enhances "Fast Cast" Effect (the only real loss IMO)
Enmity-3 (also another loss)
You are gaining:
NO = STR-7 DEX-7 VIT-7 AGI-7 (mainly for meleeing)
Adds "Regen" Effect (nice lil plus)
And plus 3 to MND and CHR
INT adds up to the same weather you use the Ixion or the Errant Houppelande / Warlock's Chapeau combo.
So is this a crap piece (AKA toy) not by a long shot. Is this the best piece ever, nope. Still swap it in and out when using elemental magic. But this piece has made my soloing / meleeing RDM a lot easier.

First one sold on AH on Fairy went for 8 mil. About 4x the price this is worth IMO. The only thing I would ever use this for is in place of a V cloak on long DoT kites and resting for MP. That being said I have the ash on me and I'm hunting Ixion passively. I saw him two nights ago in Jugner and the ash was in my mog house, /sigh.
To me this seems like more of a toy than an actual useful item. Since you cant equip headgear, this thing is not much better than errant really for the things that need raw int or MND. As a refresh item, most of the jobs that can use this have more useful, or much easier to obtain pieces for refreshing.
From the few shells I know that have tackled Ixion, he is truly worthy of being a HNM, about 4 hr fights, and it seems like *somehow* this is a fairly common drop ^^ *crosses fingers*

I wonder if all of these new RARE equipments that seem very desirable will become targets for what is left of RMTs... Here's to hoping not. :)

okay so I figured out how to get one of these! Dark Ixion (he spawns in a couple different areas I believe) and he sounds like a b**ch to fight. Left the link to where I found information below.

i have dug up from all the users and you cant equip headgear with ixions cloak a shame yes but not a bad thing you can still pimp out your gear with rings earrings and back and neck gear for your blm personally i want it ....30blm/15rdm

Even though it does not mention it, I wonder if it will allow you to wear headgear as well.
The cloak has sweet stats but it's modeled after black cloak...lame!...They couldn't have changed the color at least?
