Hmm. Good sword for enmity. I've never used it. Came out to late for me may be helpful for hate build but I got enough enmity. I'd go with this over Save the Queen the +enmity will come in handy.
This is mostly a tanking sword. Outside of the enmity, there isnt much to recommend it, as the espadon has higher base damage without the acc penalties. Its very useful for long fights, but it is the ugliest sword in the game. The model is the sword most mamool ja carry.
This sword is a great addition if you are a PLD of need of more enmity. In the new areas, it can be very hard to manage to keep hate most of the time. I switched from durandal to this sword and i see the improvement. I know durandal got +7 vit, but in the end-game xp pt, you will be ok. The tip is to keep a balance of HP, VIT and enmity and this sword helps a lot on enmity. Great sword for PLD
I have used both the Espadon +1 and this Ugly Beaver Tail, and the Beaver Tail IMHO wins out. When I solo I definitely use this because I have Dual Woodsman Rings from my DRK. In exp I use this is I have no issues hitting the mob, otherwise I swap in the Espadon +1.
Spell interrupt -10% from AF1 body and Interrupt -10% from druid's rope + Genbu Shield + Joytoy > SH's eva/acc and life belt's 10 acc. Merit Sword skill if you want to tank using melee hits, there are 8 million better belts than the life belt.
This screams RDM tank hardcore. Rdm/Nin is great tank if done correctly. With life belt and scorp harness and optical hat the -4 acc is not bad at all. great rdm tanks will have enmity gear. I see some rdm on bahamut with something like + 23 enmity. rdm tank rock if they are properly trained ^^. I'm not saying this isnt good for other jobs, but definately great for rdm's
To bad on exp mobs you will not hit expeically with -4 acc depending on your race and food + acc gear that could be put to better use on VIT and ENMITY to make up for w/e this sword gives you. It is nice for none IT VT mobs if your PLD.
Yes the -4 ACC is a hard hit, but most PLDs use a life belt anyway. You are still up +6 ACC from that.
If you are worried about the VIT, invest in the +7 VIT neck piece. Last time I grabbed one it was only 3k. LS member dropped one because it was only going for 5k a couple months ago.
Aside from all that, it also depends on tanking style, difficulty of what your fighting, and party setup. If you go full VIT against something your melees are pushing out WSs for 800+ damage, you might find the Enmity increase is better then anything else you can put in that slot.
Personally, I am keeping this and the Espodon +1 at my side for any change up I might need.
i want it to be known this is my first alla post. but all i know is i want this sword for drk. yes i know its 1 handed, but when im able i wanna do drk/nin sooo bad. (been around but not a total n00b..but in no way am i a "pro")
Heh heh! Trust me. You DON'T want this sword for DRK. In Party's DRK's are just DD, not tanks, so the Enmity +4 and Acc-4 is not a good thing. The Acc-4 also makes this sword less than ideal for soloing. If you're gonna go for /NIN sub (good luck getting a party) it's best to choose swords that will benefit the class. Acc+ and Dex+ are your best bet. Try for VIT+ if soloing.
Except if you can't hit EM or less (as drk/nin soloing, hell as any job solo'ing) if you can't hit what your fighting solo without acc gear.. hell i go on VT's and use +8 acc...so yeah the -4 acc isn't going to hurt anyone solo'ing.. I wouldn't say this sword is that great but...I know for a fact if you can't hit what you solo because of -4 acc then...maybe its to hard to be solo'ing?
