what lvl to begin...
# Jul 11 2006 at 1:53 AM Rating: Decent
OK, I had a long message for this but it got erased and I am not doing it again. lol.

I started at lvl 26 with advanced support to lvl 31. Then i did the rest to lvl 35 without support - 9 lvls.

I bought 17 stacks of wool off the AH for about 12K each and made 8 stacks of thread in the end. Thread is currently selling for 40K a stack so even though I spent about 220K I have 320K worth of product.

Don't waste your time trying to farm this like I did for 4 hours...just buy it, skill up and move on to bird fletchings. Sell your thread for profit or save for other crafts :)

Enjoy!
Easy way to level Clothcraft

What I'm doing to level clothcraft now which is very effective and cheap is to buy a whole bunch of lightening crystals and wool and make lots of wool threads, when you dont get that many skill ups from making wool thread then you use the wool thread you made and make wool cloth with 3 wool threads and an earth crystal. Then when that doesnt give u that many skill ups you either sell it all, or you start to make armor out of it, but i havent gotten as far as not getting skill ups from wool cloths yet. Hope that helps!Oh and to add, buy your lightening and earth clusters from AH or farm them, and buy your wool from the clothcraft guild store located near the clothcraft guild (where you get the recipes for crafting and increasing your clothcraft rank).I suggest buying alot of wool stacks, about 6 to start off because if the store closes and you run out of wool clumps then youll be forced to wait a while.

Happy crafting!!

Perhaps I just enjoy taking my time or saving money or maybe both but buying wool clumps for 750-1k gil each seems such a waste for me. I like a good story don't you?
(o.o')

I decided to start my day buy making myself some stew, (irl) and some meat mithkabobs (in game).
(^-^)

I grabbed my RSE, martial slacks, and my boomerang and ran out of sandy as ranger/thf using flee. When I arrived in La Theine Plateau I waited for a few minutes checking my recipes and when I look up it was very windy. I claimed several Elementals and gained 10 clusters.
(o-o)

Catching my breath I then headed to Konschtat Highlands had a mithkabob and set to work. I would steal a wool clump from a sheep then get it's skin. When I would get two skins I used a wind crystal and make another wool clump. I continued this process and used steal every 5 minutes or so and would only pause to check on dinner or to claim a lightning elemental. There was brief intermissions when I helped a friend through Mission 3-3 and then for lunch and dinner of course.
(@.@)

When the dust cleared I had 90 clumps of wool and 14 Lightning clusters. I further had 5 stacks of sheep teeth and gave away over 12 stacks of sheep meat, which made a few new friends.
Q(^-^)p

Day was complete. My tummy and pockets were very full. I do hope this information helps someone.

I started this at 28. 7 lvls under cap is nothing, I prolly made at profit of 2-4k on my first stack (broke a few. went 12 outta 15 synths)

Don't waste money waiting on lvl 30+ to start making this. Because I know lvl 22-30, making fly lures and fisherman tunics is a LOSS. Fly lures = BIG loss. So since I was able to make fly lures at 22 (capped at 30), I decided to start wool thread at 28. And YAY finally a profit, now I can get back to raising skill and getting a profit instead of always going back to find money for fly lure materials >_<"
desynth question?

ok so I was making wool thread this morning out of tons of wool that I had hunted for weeks just to get.

I was 0.1 from level 30 in weaving and I thought cool, this is a level 35 capped item, I will get some good skill ups and besides I enjoy making threads.

So I get my skill up of 0.1 and hit level 30 weaving and I continue. I make one full stack of wool thread and no skill ups, then I make another and no skill ups.

Is this a glitch or am I now into the now very slow skill up levels? Any help would be appreciated because I was really hoping I had enough wool (killed well over 300 sheep for this) to take me to level 35 where I can make wool cloth, which I enjoy as well.

Its all lightning crystals. 2 sheep wool + 1 lightning crystal gets you a wool thread.
I use gigas socks and desynth those in order to get my wool thread.
Normal synth: 2 thread while HQ's are 4,6,8... Love getting those 8's.
HQ on this recipe?

Anyone know if there are any HQ results from this recipe? More wool thread perhaps? I saw someone "obtaining" 4 and 6 wool threads. He/she was Japanese so I couldn't communicate well with them, but they seemed to say that it was the result of a HQ version of this recipe. It would be nice if this was the case.

I'd like to add that those can also be gotten from desynthing Gigas Socks with a Lightning Crystal.
Wind Crystal?
# Nov 23 2003 at 11:56 PM Rating: Decent
Are you sure it isn't Lightning crystal? Most of the Clothcraft "thread" recipies need Lightning crystals with 2 of the raw materials, not Wind crystals.

Edit: nevermind.
