It is worth noting that you can't just run past these guys and check the ??? behind them, as it doesn't pop until the big guy guarding it is dead. Tried that before. >.>
It is also worth noting that these have True Sight. Got a little too close with both Sneak and Invis at full effect in my party, and BLAM! Grinds my Taru Whm body to pieces in just three hits.
Must be rough to be one of the Boreal guys. Getting beat up just so we humans can grow stronger. =\

fighting this for friends with axle (DRK 65) and a few ls friends only melee was me drk 72 (74 now) a pld 65 and drk 65 axle was hitting around 500-600 with souleater and smashed a 2400 cross reaper on him i was hitting around 700-900 a hit with souleater gotta love the no defence lol also smashed a 3866 Spirel hell very funny fight and seem 2 find myself fighting this every time i get a new peice of gear 2 test dmg lol dies very fast and me and axle with a whm 50 for curing did this a few times for fun very easy nothing really 2 watch as AM is easy 2 stop with melee attacks ^^

i'm wondering if drg/whm 75 could solo this guy.
In my case, i went there with my ls friend who needed LB2 so badly (whm55/blm27), but unfortunately no one but me in my ls could help. I am a drg/war but because i was hesitate to survive, i decided to give it a try with drg75/whm10 (i havent levelled my whm yet :P). I used defensive food (taco with def and mp) and made bottles of pineapple juice just for emergency, while my ls friend buffed me (protectra, shellra, barfira, barpara and haste). i told him not to cure but to save mp so it would be enough to cast teleport-dem if needed.
the first try we were wiped. WHm ran out of mp (he did not know at first that indeed my wyvern can heal me up for 235 HP) and my wyvern got hate when the tiger casted flare (learn that NEVER use high jump during the fight otherwise your wyvern will get the hate). Bam! Flare and instant death on wyvern. It's now time to die slowly.
second try, we were both well prepared. Never use high jump and saved my tp for leg sweep. Flare wasn't needed to be stunned since it only give damage to the drg, and i can get your hp back. Unless you were bleeding at that time, better save your leg sweep for FiragaII. Flare has 19 secs casting time and during that time you can heal you up (if your whm sub is not gimp of course :P). Firaga II hurts a lot. In case you were not quick enough and your wyvern take the damage, just spirit link and cast Dia. well, roughly 7 minutes to take it down.
I dont know if I better do it with drg75/war37 and whm55/blm, but it was fun and exciting ^^

I duoed this thing today.
RDM55/BLM27 (me)
WHM75/NIN37 (<3 Marren!)
This was the second of the mobs we fought. (Yes, we duoed them all.) Marren did the actual melee and buffing, while I Refreshed us, Hasted her, debuffed the mob, and threw in some backup cures where needed.
This guy hits harder than the Boreal Coeurl, not surprisingly. I found that he's a bit harder to debuff, but overall I had no trouble sticking any of my debuffs (except Silence, which I think he's immune to). Mighty Strikes will make quick work of your tank if you're not careful, but in my case I had little trouble since she was tanking with Stoneskin and Utsusemi anyway. The only other thing to keep in mind is that the Boreal Tiger has an ***-load of HP. Be prepared for a long fight if you're not partying with a lot of DDs (and possibly even if you are).

Weak against fire? I don't think so. Judging from it casting Flare and Firaga and Blaze Spikes I'm guessing it's element is fire.
After casting a 90% resisted fire III on it (blm72), and getting 3 water spells unresisted in, I'd guess the correct weakness is Water.

Tigers usually *are* weak to fire, but I agree that is not the case for this NM.
Got aggro'd on RDM/NIN when I made a wrong turn omw to Uleguerand Range, and noted Enfire was doing only 9 additional points of damage vs. the 17-19 usual for tigers. That, combined with the fact that it was casting Flare and Fire III on me, makes me think this tiger is strong against Fire.
I think any other En-spell will do more damage than Enfire since Enblizzard put my additional effect damage back into the 17-19 range.

hi ya, i jsut duo'd this as 65 rdm and 65 whm, whm just stayed back, regen and haste and cure if i ever needed it, and paralyze if it used Roar. it took 25-30 mins to take down, i was only DD so it was slow, but a good fight. if u plan on duoing it as rdm and whm... when its just about dead dnt get full of urself, it still takes a while to get its last lil bit down, its 2 hr is mighty strikes, i just bound and moved out of range. it seems to b resistant to sleep and silence. GL with it ^^

I had just activated the quest about an hour earlier, and then thought, hey, I should get the Tele-Vazhl crystal! So I trek on over to Xarcabard and decide I'll try to find it without looking up the info on the net; more fun that way.
Well, I run into something called Boreal Tiger. Hmm. {Impossible To Gauge}. No problem, I think. I'm sneaked and invisibled, and I've got shadows up. Hey, I've even got my 2 hour available. So I turn and start heading the other way.
Little did I know...
Apparently this little bugger can see thru Sneak and Invis, and oh yeah, used some special attack on me that penetrated my shadows and killed me in two quick hits before I could even get my 2 hour off.
Probably wouldn't even have run into him if I hadn't just triggered the quest in Jeuno, either, which made it especially ironic.
Just a word of caution: learn from my stupid mistake if you decide to run around Xarcabard trying to find the crystal after activating the quest.

Just a note: Those mobs are present within Xarcabard whether you have the quest activated or not.
One of the few mobs that can smell you, don't you wish you appreciated deoderize more often ;)

Deo only helps you lose arrgo from mobs that track be scent, (when your out of aggro range, that is) and vs. Undead, when your in yellow HP or below. Deo "washes away" the 'blood scent' on you, thus avoiding detection.

did it today with a full alliance of 55-70. needless to say it was easy as pie. no deaths...not even near deaths cept for the boreal coeurl that did the thundanga thing, but taht was nothing. best way to do this is to get a whole bunch of 70+ in a party or a full aliance of 55+ none of them droped anything at all. make sure you check ??? or ill respawn in less than 30 secs
This thing has hp up the ***. we were doing about as much damage to this as we would to an EP. and it still took about 3 or 4 minutes to kill. Id guess it hase somewhere between 15k and 20k hp
one more thing, the mob doesnt actually drop the frigicite, after you kill it you run to the back of the cave and grab it from a "???" before the mob respawns.

how can this be a lvl 58 mob? it cast flare on me while i was fighting it and thats a lvl 60 spell.
The same way the Boreal Hound can use Freeze (BLM) and Blood Weapon(DRK).

Yes. BST75 can solo all the G2 mobs.
I was doing blm af1 here last night and was exploring around while I waited for my ls to arrive. I stumbled into the cave where he spawns and be started to cast flare on me. Thankfully it has a long cast time and I ran like crazy. He didn't chase and I was able to zone w/out getting touched.
Just did limit 2 last night. This thing is the hardest of the because its so balanced stat wise.

While fighting this guy in an alliance of about 15, where a couple were higher than 55 helping friends out, I noticed I (54 RNG at the time) was doing very heavy damage on this guy. I guess he's very weak to arrows. I used Barrage on him in mid battle for a heavy 1427 damage, which turned him to me. The WHMs we're focusing more on the PLDs and didn't cure me in time so I died. Just letting out a warning to any other Rangers when they go to take him on.

Yea i think he just has weak defense overall.When i did this i landed a sa Sturmwind on him for 1024 dam, which is a record high for me.Not to mention i was only 52 when we fought him.Has alot of hp though i guess it makes up for his weak defense.
This hits the hardest of the 3 Genkai II mobs, and has 15000 HP. He's also more balanced than the other two, having high attack, a good amount of HP, and a good amount of evasion.
This mob is one of 3 for lv cap 60 quest Genkai II. It is a warrior type mob and has the special attacks:
Might Strikes-Warrior 2hr 30secs of critical hits.
Roar-AE Paralyze
Flare-Single Target high dmg spell
Razor Fang-Single Taret melee high dmg
Claw Cyclone-AE melee dmg
