Ayame and Kaede (Ninja Flag Quest)

SummaryEnsetsu wishes to reclaim an item he has sold to the Tenshodo, but they will not exchange it for anything other than a Strangely Shaped Coral (key item) from the Korroloka Tunnel. You must go and retrieve it for him. WalkthroughTalk to Kaede at (J-5) in Port Bastok to begin this quest. After the cutscene, go talk to Kagetora in Warehouse 2, then talk to Ensetsu, who will ask you for a favor. Make your way to the Korroloka Tunnel. If you're level 30+ (maybe less, but my group and I were at least 30) you shouldn't have to worry about too many aggro mobs. Mobs of interest that should be noted are jellies, bogies, and jammer leeches.
After the leeches are killed, quickly click on the ??? point to get a key item: Strangely Shaped Coral. Head back to Bastok and talk to Ensetsu again. He will send you to Norg. It is recommended that you set your home point to Bastok to make things easy. If you have never been to Norg before, take the airship to Kazham. Rent a chocobo and head down to the south end of the zone. Fall down one of the holes and head behind a waterfall at (E-11). This is the entrance to Sea Serpent Grotto. Make sure you have Sneak up and hug the right wall until you reach a Stone Door. This will eventually lead you to Norg. Talk to Ryoma, who is standing near the docks. He will give you a key item: Sealed Dagger. Return to Ensetsu one more time for a cutscene. You will then be able to change jobs to a Ninja. Battle Details

The 3 leeches are extremely easy to kill as 30RDM/BLM and my trust army. Like...laughable easy.

i did this solo with my lvl 55 whm. Peice of cake. Now just working on my airship pass mission so i can make it to Norg.

Soloed this as 32 MNK/DNC
I got every field guide buff, ran to the spot, cleared out the leeches. I was prepared for the fight of my life. I intended to engage combo with almost 300 TP, then activate dodge and hundred fists and hope my health held out with drain samba healing me.
I activate the spot, combo first leech, prepare to engage dodge and hundred fists... and notice first mob is almost dead and my health is still full. I stare with open mouth as I tear into the second mob, still full health, then start laughing my *** off as I finish them all. All that build up and adrenaline for a push over fight, LOL.

Solo'd this quest with absolutely no problems using WAR/PLD 50/10

I was using a Gigant Axe(73 Damage) which took the Korroloka Leeches out in two swings.
After a leveling party on Kazham the other night, and knowing that I was going to be doing this quest,

Solo with Mithra 32WAR/16DNC. OK I lied, Semi solo it with Elvaan 75MNK/37DNC and Mithra 32WAR/16DNC (Same account).
1. Came in as 32war and clear the area, use silent oil and check the ???.
2. End FFXI Program using Window Task Manager. (I use windowed mode)
3. Login to My 75MNK that I logoff there and kill 2 NM Leeches and the last NM Leech I let left it 5-10% HP and turn around from mob.
4 End FFXI Program with Windows Task Manager.
5. Log into my 32war/15Dnc and with luck kill the last leech with my Final Hp is 128/563. I spam my Curing waltz.
6. Check ??? and got my key item "Strangely shaped coral".
This was very easily soloed as lv51 rdm with lv25 blm sub. Each leech seemed to be about as strong as the thread leeches around the area.

the quest appears in my quest log and everything yet today when i went to go fight the leeches i kept clicking on the ??? and it said the nothing out of the ordinary message does anyone know why the leeches don't appear???

im a lvl 35 whm but it wont let me start this quest. i talked to the father he says "theres nothing for you here. my daughter rarely comes around" etc. then the lil girl just says she can never be like her sister. thats it. i get no cs. any ideas? im only rank 2 is that an issue? please email me on chris_25192290@hotmail.co.uk

I died the first time. 37WAR/18DRG ((weird, I know)) Recalled a friend who'd been bugging me for ages to unlock ninja...Slaughtered them. Btw, Utsumetsi is 104 Zinc Ore's 300-700/each Off of AH. Traded to a guy in Port Basty Warehouse.
Cost 51k for all the Zinc Ore's. 200Yag neck, somewhere. o_O Not going to bother...

I did the leach fight last night for this quest with a couple of friends from my LS, and we blew through the 3 leaches fast. I went back to click the ??? and got the "Nothing out of the ordinary here" message. I clicked it again and got the coral.

are there "any" requirements besides a job to 30 to get this? i started this as 58smn and my 30thf friend tried and she gets no c/s. She has no fame but does have all the expansions.

Soloed this quest the other day as lvl 37war/mnk. Took two tries because the first time I rested between leeches and they despawned while I was resting, and when I clicked the ??? I got the message "There is nothing out of the ordinary here."
Second time, I took out the leeches in the area, put on a silent oil, ate a meat mithkabob, boosted a couple times, then hit the ???. I'd used up all my bolts, so I voke pulled the leech on the right and the other two stayed back. Fought the first leech, using mighty strikes and dodge. I probably would have done better with more +acc gear, since I was missing A LOT. The leech was doing more damage than it had the first time I tried the quest, so I used a hi-potion +3 and later on, a page from Dragon Chronicles to level up to 38. Voke-pulled the leech on the left and used my tp from the first leech. I think I ended up using another hi-potion +3 and 2 regular hi-potions before I finally killed him. The third leech despawned while I fought the second one, and when I touched the ??? this time, I received the coral.
I was pretty nervous to solo this since I don't have a ton of game-experience (38war is my highest job) but it went pretty well. Take home message: do NOT rest between leeches, and do NOT be scared to do this yourself (with some planning). You'll feel awesome if you succeed. And, if not, it's still a lot of fun and you learn from it.

Went to the spot and killed the random leeches in the area and then walked up to the '???' put all my buffs up and clicked. Oops, forgot to use silent oil (haha doh!) they all 3 popped out and started at me so i tachi: enpi'd then 2hr'd and got them all down within 30 seconds. i used my wrong macro so i didnt get Seigan up but made it through with about 250hp left. Solo'd it with SAM54/WAR27.

So, i'm trying to sub Nin for my second characters thf, which, at 37, is long overdue. He also has a level 44 pld. Now, my problem is that i can't even get the cutscene to start this quest. i've spent two days trying to figure out/employ others methods but i cant do anything. It might be fame (i've only done and completed 1 bastok quest), but you dont need fame for job quests.
Ensetsu just says the standard: are you looking for something? There is nothing here you would want.... etc.
Kaede: Everyone is proud of Sis- so am i.. etc.
Kagetora: what does a tenderfoot like you want? Get out of here!

Ensetsu is at I-5 on your map. Talk to him and he sends you on a loop that goes from Kaede to Kagetora and back to Ensetsu to get information.

On my way to Kazham now, got help from a WHM75 which made things easier. Getting to the ??? was no problem but the leeches were kinda rough should i go solo ;-p

did today as 45 PLD/WAR (me) and a 30 WHM, pretty simple the guide is great for getting to the leeches just make sure to keep sneak/invis up (i didnt really need it as most things check too weak until we came up to bogys)
once your at the leeches just use sneak/deoderize as others have said, pop the leeches and run back into tunnel and pull one, they were pretty easy and i took them out taking minimal dmg, had ot kill all 3 though there were no despawns
this sould be easy enough quest for a lvl 45 PLD

I solo'd this quest as a PLD 42 subbed WHM.
Goes without saying to buff up.
The trick to this quest is clear the room preceeding the ??? of two Thread Leechs that are there.
Once they are dead, heal up your MP/HP and then cast SNEAK AND DEODORIZE on yourself BEFORE TOUCHING THE ???.
Once sneaked and deodorized, THEN touch the ???.
Then run back to where you killed the Thread LEECHES (just infront of the start of the little room) and with a bow and arrow, pull ONE of the KORRORLOKA LEECHES that have spawned.
The other two will stay back in the room and not bother you.
If you kill this one slowly enough the other two will DEspawn away and the room will be clear by the time you kill the first one. Then you go and touch the ??? and get your coral.
I didn't even use my two hour.
You need the sneak and deodorize so that they don't all attack you at once and you can pull them nice and safely from a distance. Again, i only needed to kill one.

ps: it helps to have your macros well in order so you can slow, paralyze, dia and banish the spawned leech. Leeches are weak to Light Spells, btw.I had a special macro to quickly restore my magic in the fight if need be...

helpful if you get into the red. Which I didn't. But I had all my macros ready and my two hour and my sentinel on for the fight. The use of SLOW is very valuable when fighting leeches - and everything else for that matter. lol
I'm sure there's a thousand and one different jobs, ways to kill this thing and do the ninja quest but this is how I did mine.

beat the quest with ease with a 72whm /36smn was easy for me lol i tryed to smn ifrit but the leaches ate him up for lunch ...

I just destroyed them solo as a lvl 50 SAM/WAR. Used Sole Sushi, Berserk, Meikyo Shisui, then Tachi:Jinpu x3. Took about 20 seconds. They hit me for 30-40 damage a pop. Not much of a dent in my 1027 Hp. Took me to yellow.

Soloed this as a BRD57/WHM28. Not too bad of a fight. Had to fight all 3 at the same time. Horde Lullabyed them all and started to go 1 vs 1 with a leech. Beat it no problem. Then rinse and repeat. During the 1 vs 1 fight the other leeches woke up and I just lullabyed them again. Used double ballad for the fight so I could cast Stoneskin, Regen, and Cure III.

quest fight is Korroloka leeches not jammers.... they are tough (jammers)

soloed this quest last night as a level 35 RDM.
i wanna know how you solo this as a 35 rdm? the Jammer Leeches are at east lvl 55. they ripped me apart real fast and im a 52 drg fighting one of them.
