WalkthroughSwitchstix in Castle Zvahl Baileys can upgrade degraded weapons if you bring him the things he wants. The first upgrade will require:
Fee: Montiont Silverpiece x4 The Relic Sword is a drop from Dynamis - Windurst. The Koh-I-Noor is crafted (Goldsmithing 20) from a HQ3 of a Sparkling Stone which is dropped in Dynamis - San d'Oria, Dynamis - Windurst, Dynamis - Jeuno, and Dynamis - Bastok. The Orichalcum Chain is crafted (Goldsmithing 93). Trade all four items and payment in Silverpieces to Switchstix and he will upgrade it to a Glyptic Sword. You will need to wait one game day. The second upgrade will require:
Fee: One Hundred Byne Bill x14 You must wait one Earth week before you can get the second upgrade. Turn all of these items in along with the fee and he will upgrade the Glyptic Sword to the Dynamis Sword. The third upgrade will require: Fee: Lungo-Nango Jadeshell x60 The Attestation of Glory drops in Dynamis - Beaucedine. Trade these two items to Switchstix and he will upgrade the Dynamis Sword to the Caliburn. The Caliburn will allow you to use the special weapon skill Knights of Round, but only in Dynamis areas. The fourth upgrade will require:
Fee: Ranperre Goldpiece x1 The Holy Fragment drops off the Animated Longsword in Dynamis - Xarcabard Trade the Holy Fragment, Shard of Necropsyche, Caliburn and currency to the pond in Dragon's Aery to receive a cutscene, the Excalibur, and 30 Montiont Silverpieces. Fashion Shot

any new info regarding this sword have they increase the damage on it?
After 3 + years finaly got the sword I could not have done it with out the help of my Link Shell Dynasty Of Virtue Supper bunch of guy's the last drop from Sword NM took us 2 trys but we did it with 32 ppl love the sword and have started to work on shield.
This is a long hard quest but well worth it.

Ok I'm on the Ragnarok Server and I've got the Caliburn right now, this is how it works.
The stages 1 and 2 info on this thread are all correct but let me clear up the confusion in terms of the rest.
Stage 3 (Dynamis Sword) > Stage 4 (Caliburn) Requires 61 Lungo-Nango Jadeshells, The attestation of glory, and the Dynamis Sword. The Attestation is dropped off the Hydra NM Goublefaupe in Dynamis-BCD. Thats the ONLY place it drops from. To pop him, you need to head up into the Hydra section of BCD and kill a Vanguard Eye at the Nue tower, this will make the 5 Hydra NMs pop in the 5 other towers of BCD. Goublefaupe is on the Quadav level, in the tower at J-8 (I think, maybe I-8. its the only tower on the quaddie floor). He is a WAR/PLD/RDM mob, he can spam the 2hrs of all 3 jobs repeatedly. He can drop either the Attestation of Force (Great Axe), Attestation of Glory (Sword), or Attestation of Righteousness (Great sword), these are on the same drop cycle so he can only drop one of those, so they have about a 30% rate. He ALWAYS drops one, so you're guaranteed something (Thats why I said 30% rate on each, because its just a 1/3 chance of getting the one you want). In addition, he can drop the Attestation of Invulnerability (Shield) but it is NOT on the same drop cycle as the others so he CAN drop it as well as another (happened to my ls when I got glory for Caliburn, the shield dropped as well). I've heard rumors that the Hydra NMs CAN drop a 100 piece instead of an attestation, I've never seen it directly though so it's probably fairly rare. Once you have the 61 Jades, and the Attestation, you go to Switchstix in Zvhal Baileys, trade it in, and 3 days, 6 hours later (Earth Time) your Caliburn will be ready.

You get the Shard of Necropsyche from the Vanguard Dragons right before Dynamis Lord. It is a very common drop and should pose no problem to a person upgrading. The Holy Fragment DOES NOT drop off of Dynamis Lord (DL only drops a 100 piece and the shadow mantle or ring, I can't prove that he doesn't drop a 10,000 piece as it could be a very very very slim chance, at least I'm hoping that ;p but I can guarantee he doesn't drop the fragment). The fragment is dropped off of Animated Longsword in Dynamis-Xarca, I'm unclear to his exact POS but he's at the NE part of the map I'm told and only pops after you kill the 15 Demon NMs. You have to blitz him because if you dont interest him enough, he'll literally warp away and be gone for the rest of that run. From what I can gather, all the Animated weapons can get bored like this and you only have about a minute before they do. It is a 100% drop from the Animated Longsword. The Ranperre Goldpiece is obtained by trading 100 Montiont Silverpieces to the Goblin currency NPC in Davoi. Once you have all these things, you'll get a text CS from Switchstix in zvahl telling you to go to the targetable spot at the pond in Dragon's Aery, where you will get a CS involving the ghost of the previous owner of the Excalibur, a member of the fallen Hydra Corps.
And that's it. hope that clears things up!

In response to the rumor of Attestations being a rare drop off Hydra mobs I'm fairly sure its exactly what it is rumor as well as the rumor of the Holy Fragment dropping off Kindred Paladin Demons in Dyn-Xarca. My linkshell and other linkshells have slugged at Dynamis Beau and Xarca for the longest time and we have never seen this drop from those enemies. Its safe to say that the only or at least the only reliable source of the Attestation/Fragment drops is to get it from the NMs that they were intended to be recieved from.

I don't know if the rumor for the Dyna-lord dropping it is true. But then again, how often is he killed by an LS is still up for grabs. Would be nice though, but from what I'm hearing, it's still just a rumor at this point. And the 10,000 currency for the sword, has it been confirmed that it is the R. Goldpiece or 10,000 byne bill???

The total is 162800 acient money x 15 000 the average price on my server and thats hmm 2,442,000,000 all together in cost if you went by buying alone.
As the pictures showed there are 100k in addition to the 1 types and 100 types.
Then you add another +3 mil about for the other materials.
Sigh, either way im 1000/162800 total and still havent gone to dynamis. I hope people dont stop paying for quality gold crafted items on titan or ill be out of luck.

Your sum of the costs is off a bit. You don't need 162800 currency, but 400+1,400+6,100+10,000= 17,900
Multiplying that by the average cost of currency on your server (15k), that leads up to a price of about 268,500,000 gil. 268.5 million... seems a little bit more doable, I hope ^^; Too bad currency is usually 20+k on Odin T_T

Currency is 30-35K per piece on Seraph and it is now impossible to upgrade without a dynamis linkshell supporting you (600,000,000G estimated per full relic weapon).
On a side note, I think we only have 3 fully upgraded relic weapons on Seraph:
Muteki and his Yoichinoyumi (bow)
Lhexh and his Bravura (great axe)
Rave and his Excalibur (sword)

So we got a person who is bring Gilsellers into Dynamis on Cait sith named Ryudo. They are trying to sell currency for 50k per single unit and 5mil per 100 unit. Well I guess Relic weapons will become harder to get if you plan on buying currency from these FOOLS.

On my server (Cerberus) I'm in a dynamis linkshell where the leader usually sponsors the dynamis run i.e. s/he pays for the hourglass, but to pay it off s/he gets all currency, there are few others that sponsors the runs once in awhile to where they get to lot on all currency. Well, my idea (Depends on what your situation is) sponsor a few runs, I notice that a good 2-300 or more of which ever currency drop a run with rare 100bill drops. You could possibly use this as a way to either fund or get the commission items out of the way without the luck of lotting and so on. Well it's my thought on my situation, hopefully some of yours are the same or could be, mention the idea around and see what happens ^^;

Minor fix: like it says in the quest information at the top of the page, the fee for the 2nd upgrade is indeed 1400 Byne Bills, not 1600. Just handed mine in ^^

To all those who wondered why this sword is so hard to get, inside dynamis areas its like a huge alliance, limitless, there are often 40+ high levels doing it at a time. It costs 1 million to run a dynamis, and during my last 3 only one 100 byne bill dropped... for one stage the fee is 14 of these, my Dyna LS sells them off to LS members for 1 mil, to keep the next dynamis free. 14 million? ouch this is just part of the fee. And you try farming the extra items when people are there to get their AF2, which is also dropped in dynamis areas.
It is rumored that no one on my server ( Bismarck) has this sword, i doubt that many servers have one, and if so its likely to be a japanese member lol.

actully dynamis isn't limitless, max is 65.
Maximum amount of people is actually 64, not 65. 4 alliances.
LOL if Dynamis was capped at 65.... wow, it would be impossible. 65 is the minimum level to gain access, but you would be an idiot to try before 70
He (as well as the person he's replying to) is referring to the limit on players who can enter the dynamis run. Nowhere were they talking about levels.

According to the world report i have only seen three fees, however the world report does not cover the final stage of any relic weapon so the rumor of 100 x 100 acient types might be true.

Really quick little bit of info, the quest information and a few people in the thread have been saying from the 1st stage to the 2nd stage you have to wait 1 game day, this is wrong, I just waited two and it's not done yet, someone in ls who has done this said it's the next JP day, will be able to confirm this tomorrow.

Some of you know of my attempts at obtaining Excalibur, some don't, but I was asked to post information as I obtain it while working on my relic upgrade. Most of the information posted here so far is correct, however vague as it may seem.
Few details that are not commonly known:
After obtaining the Dynamis Sword, take it to the goblin NPC in Castle Zavhl Baileys and he will ask you to bring him an Attestation of Glory. Attestation of Glory can be obtained by killing the Hydra NM Goublefaupe, located in Dynamis-Beaucedine.
To get a chance to kill Goublefaupe, you must first travel to F-7 (Pso'xja tower). On the way you'll encounter the Hydra mobs, and when you reach the tower, there will be a Trigger NM (Vanguard Eye) you must defeat. Once it is defeated, 1 attestation NM pops in each [Pso'xja] tower.
Mildaunegeux [H-10]: MNK, NIN, SAM
Velosareon [J-8]: THF, DRK, RNG
Goublefaupe [H-8]: PLD, WAR, RDM
Dagourmarche [G-9]: BST, DRG, SMN
Quiebitiel [I-7]: WHM, BLM, BRD
Each NM is all three jobs at once, and they can use all 2-hrs several times.
After you obtain the attestation of glory, go back to the Goblin in Castle Zhavl Baileys and he will ask you to bring him a fee of 61 L. Jadeshells.
After you trade him all 61 L. Jadeshells, he will tell you to come back later. First time I had to wait a day, then last time I had to wait a week for the Dynamis Sword, for the Caliburn, he tells you it won't take nearly as long, but the 3 days will seem like forever.
Supposedly, after you recieve the Caliburn, you're supposed to wear it for awhile, especially in dynamis, and supposedly it'll start 'talking' to you. It will supposedly give you instructions on what to do next.
As far as the Holy Fragment goes; fragments are a confirmed 100% drop from Animated weapons in Dynamis-Xarcabard. The Holy Fragment is a drop off the Animated Sword. It is rumored that you have to defeat Yin and Yang before the the Animated weapons become active.
I believe, however, that the animated weapons pop after you defeat the last Demon NM. There will be a phrase that pops up on your screen like a Time Extension would. It is: "The prison of souls has set free its captive spirits!" I believe after that phrase, the animated weapons are accessible.
Please note, all Animated Weapons will be up and in thier places before you kill the last Demon NM, however, it is rumored that they do not drop anything until you have realeased their spirits from killing all the Demon NMs, at which point they become much stronger, and will then drop the Fragments.
Supposedly, after you obtain the Holy Fragment, your Caliburn will start talking alot telling you what to do next.
It is rumored that you'll take the Caliburn and the Holy Fragment to the gobbie in Castle Baileys and He'll ask for the Fragment, the Sword, and 10,000 currency. Then it is said to go to the pond in Dragon's Arey and trade a Necrospyche (common drop from Vanguard Dragon) for a final cutscene and your Excalibur.
I personally am working on the Fragment portion at the moment, and stand at 2500/10000 Bronzepieces for Excalibur.

Few details that are not commonly known:
After obtaining the Dynamis Sword, take it to the goblin NPC in Castle Zavhl Baileys and he will ask you to bring him an Attestation of Glory. Attestation of Glory can be obtained by killing the Hydra NM Goublefaupe, located in Dynamis-Beaucedine.
To get a chance to kill Goublefaupe, you must first travel to F-7 (Pso'xja tower). On the way you'll encounter the Hydra mobs, and when you reach the tower, there will be a Trigger NM (Vanguard Eye) you must defeat. Once it is defeated, 1 attestation NM pops in each [Pso'xja] tower.
Mildaunegeux [H-10]: MNK, NIN, SAM
Velosareon [J-8]: THF, DRK, RNG
Goublefaupe [H-8]: PLD, WAR, RDM
Dagourmarche [G-9]: BST, DRG, SMN
Quiebitiel [I-7]: WHM, BLM, BRD
Each NM is all three jobs at once, and they can use all 2-hrs several times.
After you obtain the attestation of glory, go back to the Goblin in Castle Zhavl Baileys and he will ask you to bring him a fee of 61 L. Jadeshells.
After you trade him all 61 L. Jadeshells, he will tell you to come back later. First time I had to wait a day, then last time I had to wait a week for the Dynamis Sword, for the Caliburn, he tells you it won't take nearly as long, but the 3 days will seem like forever.
Supposedly, after you recieve the Caliburn, you're supposed to wear it for awhile, especially in dynamis, and supposedly it'll start 'talking' to you. It will supposedly give you instructions on what to do next.
As far as the Holy Fragment goes; fragments are a confirmed 100% drop from Animated weapons in Dynamis-Xarcabard. The Holy Fragment is a drop off the Animated Sword. It is rumored that you have to defeat Yin and Yang before the the Animated weapons become active.
I believe, however, that the animated weapons pop after you defeat the last Demon NM. There will be a phrase that pops up on your screen like a Time Extension would. It is: "The prison of souls has set free its captive spirits!" I believe after that phrase, the animated weapons are accessible.
Please note, all Animated Weapons will be up and in thier places before you kill the last Demon NM, however, it is rumored that they do not drop anything until you have realeased their spirits from killing all the Demon NMs, at which point they become much stronger, and will then drop the Fragments.
Supposedly, after you obtain the Holy Fragment, your Caliburn will start talking alot telling you what to do next.
It is rumored that you'll take the Caliburn and the Holy Fragment to the gobbie in Castle Baileys and He'll ask for the Fragment, the Sword, and 10,000 currency. Then it is said to go to the pond in Dragon's Arey and trade a Necrospyche (common drop from Vanguard Dragon) for a final cutscene and your Excalibur.

I know this was posted awhile ago, but to clear a few things up...
NM Hydra Quiebitiel is a WHM BLM BRD. He drops Attestation of Sacrifice (club) and Attestion of Harmony (horn).. CONFIRMED.
NM Hydra Goublefaupe is PLD WAR RDM. He drops Attestation of Glory (sword) and Attestation of Force (great axe).. CONFIRMED.
(My Dynamis LS killed both of these NM Hydras on two occasions. The first time we got club and great axe attestations. The second time we got sword and horn.) (^.^)b
The upgrade to Caliburn definitely does not take a month (at least not anymore). A LS member obtained his after ~3 days.

As of right now im getting materials for the weapon's construction before I start going to dynamis itself. As of right now im getting mixed info from the last two stages. (lvl 4 and 5) of the items drop itself. initially where does it drop ordeal.
Also more info, you can trade 100 of the individual currencies for a 100 version to any of the three merchant goblins at each beastmen fortress except for for the one at xarcabard, you can also buy the rare materials needed to up grade the sword to level 2 using acient currencies but because of these things are not like rain or gil, I would heavily suggest not doing that and go find somenoe who can craft very well for it and probably shovel out about anywhere from 500k to 2m, instead of 30x100 of a currency.
But heres my current progress (lvl 57 i cant go yet so stop pointing that out)

From what I've heard, part of the difficulty of completing the final steps is that the mobs which drop the various attestations and Step 5 items are far from the main route in the final two Dynamiss (Dynami? Dynamises? ^^)
So not only do you have to gather a very large group of competent players, you need to find people willing to go in with the understanding that it is NOT for finishing/clearing that Dynamis, but for farming only, since it will not be physically possible to reach both the drop mobs and the final boss. Given the cumulative cost of entering, in addition to the time commitment, this could be difficult. And I would assume the majority of people who are willing to do this are farming for their own items, therefore increasing the pool of people to lot against. But everyone's gotta have a dream...
