Description

Deep inside the Boyahda Tree, adventurers flock to Dragon's Aery every day to test their might against the powerful dragons Fafnir and Nidhogg. Most of the time, the Aery is among the most tranquil, serene places in all of Vana'diel. Rain water from the forest above filters down through the ground, creating breathtaking waterfalls along the Aery's green, moss-covered walls. Spiders roam the tunnel leading into the Aery, but the flies that frequent the home of Fafnir and Nidhogg are peaceful and non-aggressive. But, when the dragons rear their heads, the stillness of Dragon's Aery explodes into chaos, and the waters run red with blood. Countless adventurers have died by the rake of the dragons' claws, the slap of their wings or the spikes of their tails. Many adventurers have lived to tell about defeating the mighty dragons. And a select few brave souls have tokens of valor from the beasts' treasure pools.

This is a place where 69+ can level. depending on your party/levels it can be pretty damn good xp.

Fafnir/Nidhogg is a dragon/wyrm, not a wyvern :p

The Dragon's Aery being under the Boyhada Tree and home to Nidhogg is definitely a reference to Norse Myth (as is Nidhogg's name). Nidhogg lived at the bottom of Yggdrasil, the World Tree (that has inspired many other gigantic trees in RPGs such as the Iifa Tree) and gnawed on its roots. It constantly had arguments with an Eagle at the top of the tree that were relayed by a pesky squirrel that would tell lies about Nidhogg to the Eagle and vice-versa.

So where's our Squirrel NM!?
getting here

I got here with relative ease, but i must say it really sucked trying to get here and to be so disappointed. if you make your way in the nort west direction you will eventually come up here. If you go accross the path it leads to Zi'tah but it is a one way trip to zi'tah and if you drop down the hill right after exiting the cave you will have to come back the long way again

Those who want to know this area...

Right now, it is mostly populated by japan-release players worked up to level 75, or helping others, or just fighting for fun. It is not for level 50's or even 60's.
What?

This is like... not a map. And how do you get to the top of the Boyahda Tree?
Ridell (sword)
# Jan 25 2004 at 4:10 PM Rating: Default
While traveling through Kazham I came accrossed a High Lvl Japanese player with a Scimitar called a "Ridell", when I asked how he got it, he said it was dropped by a high lvl NM known as Fafnir. I have since been unable to find any information regarding this sword, and was wondering if someone could help me.

Fafnir, is a mob wyvern, wyvern mob whatever and is very high level, that drops sword. well extremely high level and takes many people of 12-18 people to fight. for me i fight with japanese friends in seraph. we all fought Fafnir, and Nidhogg dragons. they all really hard monsters, and you should atleast be level 70 or higher to fight. ****japanese players rule seraph****

Use the maps here:

http://ffxi.killvoid.com/maps/boyahda.htm

Work your way to the 4th map, following the paired alphabetical labels (A-A, B-B, etc). The exit to Dragon's Aery is at I-5 of the 4th map.

This is easier if you've already opened a coffer in Boyahda and have acquired the map.

This is not a trip for anyone who is less than 75 and already in a party/alliance or for the curious/suicidal explorers in all of us...The majority of the aggro mobs in Boyahda detect by sound but a few detect by sight. Be prepared to be invisible with sneak on for most of the trip there.

I think you have to go through either Sanctuary of Zi'Tah or Boyoda Tree.

I tried going here with some LS mates. We got lost in the tree. Any more specific directions?
