He wants you to track down Ipupu, a specialist in paleography, and hand her a note that contains the unknown letter. OMG kill myself, I went to closest tower went inside didn't see him so I went to tower at far Northwest corner of West Sarutabaruta went through cracked wall and almost died. I checked this walked inside the tower, didn't go to the ruins, and saw Ipupu. I almost started beating my head into a wall, I'm an idiot.

Glyph Hanger - This is the easiest quest ever.
Start by getting the quest from the guards at any gate, the North Gate in Windurst Waters is the closest to the Opistery, which is where you are told to go. In the west tower of the Opistery in Windurst Waters,(F-5) talk to Hariga-Origa, the first NPC you will see when you walk through the door. He will tell you to find Ipupu in West Sarutabaruta. Go to the tower halfway between I-8 and J-8, just go out the North Gate and the tower is right there on your left. Ipupu will joke around and decipher the ruin. And tell you to go back to Hariga-Origa, who talks some nonsense for a bit and eventually rewards you with a Map of the Horutoto Ruins.

Ok, I sense a lot of confusion on this topic of "Where's Hariga-Origa". I will make it simple for all of you who can't process more than one thing at a time in your brain. Follow these steps to find him.
1. GO TO WINDURST
2. GO TO WINDURST WATERS
3. GO TO THE HOME POINT AT (G-7)
4. CHECK YOUR MAP AND FIND THE OPTISTERY
5. GO THERE (F-8)
6. ONCE INSIDE LOOK LEFT STRAIGHT
7. <t> = Hariga-Origa
Pretty simple, I hope this helps.

Easiest Quest Ever.
I did this at level one, it takes abou a minute and a half irl
The opistery is the building on the left side of the archway leading from Windurst water to west sarabataru

This is a very simple quest but very important. Complete this quest , you will get the important map.

the map they give is and location is combined section... go to top section that is where oristary is.. easy to find from there
Opistery you mean. The Orastery is in Port, Opistery is in Waters.

There are not two Opisteries. There is an Opistery in W. Waters, and an ORASTORY in W. Port.

I must say that this Hariga-Origa is the hardest NPC to find...i've searched all over Windurst Waters and i've never found him...IMHO...BS! I wonder if they've changed it when they patched the game...

there is no such thing in w waters. H-12 would be the exit. I cant find the optistery... only have a rinopstery or something, but no such npc in there...

How do I see the map after I got it? I know I can find the map under the "Key Items" Menu, but how do i open it to see? :)

look at your Key Items and see if the map is listed there.

You have to be in the dungeon and open the map, just like opening the map to view Windurst. FYI: one of the dungeon entrances is right where Ipupu is.

Here goes: The Optistry is in Windurst Waters. It is easy to find, it's on your MAP. The Optistry is made up of two towers, an east and a west tower. Hariga-Origa is in the WEST tower, he is the FIRST NPC you will see when you walk in the door.
Once you talk to him and he gives you the quest, you will need to go to West Sarutabaruta. The tower (as already posted) is halfway between I-8 and J-8. There are two NPCs in this tower, Ipupu is one of them.

You can find Ipupu if you go to West Sarutabaruta and travel to the tower at I-9.
The tower is in the middle of I-8 and J-8.

Head straight out and a little left to the huge tower with a small open doorway in front. Ipupu is on the left side against the wall right next to the door. Talk to him and he we decipher the ruin after some joking. Return to Hariga-Origa to hear some confusing reading and be rewarded with a Map of Hortutu Ruins. Now you are allready to do Mission 1!

Been looking everywhere in W. Sataburata. Can someone note the GRID this NPC is at.
In West Sarutabaruta right in the middle of I-8 and J-8(on your map) there is an entrance to a dungeon. At the entrance there are 2 nps, one of them is Ipupu.

There are two quests. The first quest you get from Gate Guards and it starts you on the "Best of the West" Mission set. Your first mission is to go to the Eastern Tower of the Horutoto ruins. Before you go you are asked to stop by the Opistery where you get this quest. Hariga is in the Opistery and he asks you to find Ipupu while you are out there.

u get the quest assigned to by guards at a gate...cant remember which one, west i believe, then u to the opistery. its called the horutoto expirement also
