SummarySoni-Muni wants something that will rekindle the passion for adventure in his mate Gottah. Something to do with the legend of the great grappler Scorpio might do the trick. WalkthroughTalk to Soni-Muni, who stands on the fountain in Bomingo Round in Windurst Woods. He will ask you to bring him a Scorpion Stinger. Go to the Maze of Shakhrami and kill scorpions until you get one. Return to Windurst and trade the stinger to Soni-Muni, who will give you 1500 gil as a reward. Just found that this is not repeatable. Looked to see if this could be sold at AH, can't, so I guess just drop this item after quest is completed.

i was hunting argus (27/36) and i get bored.... so i decide to ***** around with some scorpions
i poison em and go to bed cause it was my friends shift to watch for the pop ne way.... i wake up next morning after killing maybey 8 scorpions? and bam its sitting in my inventory... i dont know if this helps ne one. but i hope it does. if ne one needs help getting one on the gilgamesh server, dont be afraid to ask.

I can solo on of these bad boys at lvl 36 and im a WHM...a DRK at lvl 32 could prob kill the SOB.
I tried :(
But, I was able to sell the stinger to an NPC for 380 gil in Windy (lvl6 fame), so they're not completely useless.

Just wondering cuz Iam doing my RSE quest as a 36DRK/THF and seem to get alot of these.

I've fought it about 20 times helping n00bs with this quest charging them 1k a piece ROLMFAO. Good way to pass the time, but now I'm on to bigger, better ways of making money.

Did this quest just right now as a THF32/MNK15. The scorpian beat me mindlessly. However with only 6hp left I beat it. Is it worth it..probably not.
I took a scorpion on with a 2 party alliance made of lvl 15s. Needless to say we were totally slaughtered. I wasn't even on the quest either.
I'll be the one honest mutha in here and not brag about how many I killed at lvl 11 or some bull...I was a lvl 20 WAR/10MNK and went for one of these bad boys with a buddy (he is like lvl 18 WAR) figured ***** it, we can take one. Whatever. Just got through with 3 Goblin Butchers back-to-back and HP was down to about 140. Then, thiis big, black ****** drops from the perch he sits on and whacks me...and fast. He hit me for 54, 45, 55 three straight hits before I could even get up from the rested position. Think I'll wait til later...
nothing i just thought you need to kill Soni-Moni

um the scorpian stinger is not EX iv sold 2 so far because i din know about this quest anyway they are under alchemy
It is both RARE and EX. You can still sell these to stores. Also you may be thinking of a number of other scorpion parts. And I looked under alchemy and saw no stinger listed.
Giant Stingers are listed under alchemy, but you get them off giant bees not scorpians.

yah u cant do the quest more then once :( oh well.. i cna easily sol the scorpion at lvl 32.. just bind blind bio rasp then water 2 stone 2 then thundre and bam hes dead.. ive gotten around 20-30 of them for other people.. im on the sereph server so if u wnat to buy any please send a tell to Fondolotz..
This is not true. You cannot sell//ah/bazaar this item and u can only hold one of them. The item is rare/ex.
I solo'ed these scorps with my lvl 35 rdm/thf for the pincers (powerbows) and got this drop as well...
Rare/Ex ... i think u are confused with Giant Stinger which drops of bee-type mobs.
I got a lot of stingers from bees and a beestinger farming as thf/rng on bees at the hill in north gusta. Got Sophie there for 7th time as well.

Please read the whole thread before responding - your reply did not make sense.
Since the stinger is a Rare/Exclusive item, the only way that he could possibly be trying to 'sell' them _is_ by charging people for his assistance getting one.
You'll hear the terms Rare and Exclusive a lot related to items - this is what they mean:
Exclusive: you cannot sell this at AH or via Bazaar (nor can you trade it with another player) - but you can sell to some NPCs. You can only obtain this from somebody else if they have a full inventory and it is in their 'treasure' box still. They can invite you to their pt and allow you to lot on it.
Rare: you can only hold one of this item at a time for your character. This means one copy of the item either on you, in mog safe, or in storage. You cannot have one in safe and expect to get another one - it will not happen. The item may drop, but you won't be able to get it (yourself) - if in a PT, other PT members without one yet would still be eligible.

It is possible to have 2 of a rare item. While it's true you can have only 1 either in your bag, Mog Safe, or storage, if you put the one you have in your delivery box, you can then go get another one.

I turned in this stinger once and got my cash. I have another and the NPCs will not accept it. What gives?

Is it possible to purchase a stinger at the Auction House? That would make it easier for me to do this quest. Or is it a rare item?
Just in case you didn't know..Rare items can still be bought at the auction house. You just cannot possess more than one at a time. EX means exclusive, items that cannot be purchased nor traded with other PCs.

When you complete this quest.. they talk to you about the treasure of the great pirate king being buried in shakrami..
adn while I was getting the stinger I got a rusty key from one of the wight's there.. anyone know if this is related somehow?

That key goes to a door near the exit which inside has a few chests that say there are some astral coins or something in the bottom.. so yes I would guess that is what they are talking about, except that you say they say its burried.. o.o

I soloed the scorpion quest at lvl 32 rdm and i didnt have a problem with it but for easy prey there pretty damn hard. I got the item but i didnt think i needed fame.

You need some fame to do this, and this scorps are pretty hard if you aren't strong enough...me and my whm friend have been killing them for nearly an hour and still have yet to see one. It kinda sucks, so try to get a thief.

i got this quest as a lv10 thief with just a little less than 20 quests done in Windurst. Hope that's helpful to some ppl.
