SummaryRetrieve some Orcish Dried Food from a storage hole in Davoi. Sharzalion will let you in on something in return. WalkthroughTalk to Sharzalion, who is at the bar in the tavern in South San d'Oria. If you're a level 40+ Red Mage, he'll give you the quest and tell you he wants some Orcish Dried Food. Go to Davoi and head to E-10. Make sure you use sneak and invisible, to avoid being attacked by orcs hiding on ledges. When you reach E-10, clear the area and then examine the ??? at F-9, beneath the small log bridge. A notorious monster named Purpleflash Brukdok will appear. Kill the NM orc, which is a black mage, and it drops a Davoi Storage Key. Next you have to find a storage hole to trade your key to. There are multiple locations about Davoi where the storage hole might spawn. A few locations are near the zone toJugner Forest, some are in the deeper parts of the zone and a couple are on the center island, which requires passing through Monastic Cavern to reach. The best way to find a storage hole is to run around, scrolling your cursor across your surroundings. Once you find one, trade your key to the storage hole to acquire the Orcish Dried Food. I take a break and i just came back on FF and to have some fun and get back in the game i choose to reset the af on my rdm but i got the quest up i'm in davoi everything clear but the NM wouldn't pop when i click ???
I didnt have to click the ??? myself. When I got near the spot in question, the NM had popped already, I just pulled it and easily killed him as a 60RDM/BLM. As previously mentionned, Stoneskin + Phalanx (and ice spikes) kept the fight easy.

very challaneging at lvl 50 ( 50 rdm 25 blm)
had to use sleep nuke. only had 2 links , kept em slept untill i could deal with them.
use convert once, stonskin phalanx FWT!
i dint use DOT,s casue I wanted to have sleep nuke tactic for back up.
used choke and poison bio at less than half mark. second tp move with enthunder II.
can be done solo, but F keep focus and mind the links.

didnt even really want this cuz i had a Buzzard Tuck and a Crimson Blade already. just need as a prereq. Was in davoi for thyme moss fight and davoi crest for cap break. me and SAM (both 59~60 lvl) pwned the NM and the mobs around him. found storage hole later after looking for 2 minutes in a little walkway outcrop. easy

i kicked the mortal **** out of purple i just used my lvl 61war/mnk and killed it with one ws lol u didnt even have to use rampage i use one inch punch that thing is to weak and i have yet to find a NM that can challenge me and make me actually have to use rampage on it

Bah just did this thing tonight as a 66PLD/NIN used tactics pearl just to be safe I reckon i wasted that charge there was no need for it its insanly easy to keep shadows up and my health only got down to the yellow once at the end of the fight only cure i used was a Cure III on my npc lol

This was my 4th week into playing FFXI, and I did this quest with a nin75 friend. It took all of 40 minutes for everything... killed 3 orcs, and ninja saw Purple pop and he killed it within 5 minutes. Then, the first storage hole we found gave me the food, and after that it was just a matter of getting out of Davoi. I'd recommend walking in the water to avoid lots of aggro.
Now I don't even use the sword itself, but for its benefits, and it was free except for the time spent. Being a first time player, the free part is really nice as rdm41 was my highest character and I wouldn't have been able to afford a L40 sword until way later.

I just wanna post my story on this. I just did it, like, I am talking to the chick now to get my story. Basically went me going, Alright, 75Whm/37Nin!! Lets rock this! I went in, found Purple face, killed him and two of his fellow Orcs all the while laughing 'cause I don't melee very often and dealing 1k dmg to each was fun. Anyway, I get done, get the key, and I'm like, great, this will take forever to find. Oddly enough, I took the wooden bridge, took a right, and was like, Hmm, I think I'll go to the beginning of the zone. I kept checking everything making sure nothin was EP to me, and all of a sudden, "Storage". I win, Davoid loses, Winja4Ever!!!

I found a couple dozen different spots (at least) where the Storage Hole can spawn. You look for the star-shaped patterns on the ground, and the Storage Hole will be the one you can actually click on. It says "Storage Hole" in green.

G7 almost to f7 is a hole too, just incase anyone having trouble.

Did it with RDM 53 and another RDM 49. Killed it twice. Lots of HP, inevitable links (which we put to sleep).

Owned nekid MNK/BLM (for free warp out)he must use hacks coz i have blm and i can't equip a sword >.>

Just Solo this as 75blm/whm. Very fun fight. Killed all the Orcs and waited for him to pop. Pulled with Burst II, did about 1.5k or 20% of his HP. Kept Stoneskin up, Aspir and drain when they are up. HP never fell below 880 :). Melee him to death with a Dark Staff. But found out at the end my Jupiter's Staff did alot more damage lol. I think he landed about 10hits total, but I do have Eva max + Merits from my Thf. I think my Thf would've killed him faster...but where's the fun in that.

Ok. What I'm posting are all the spawn points of the "Storage hole" POS.
As I just did this quest with a friend, and no AF1 should take 5-6 hours.

4. Do not be fooled by the "???" or "!" or "?" in various areas of Davoi.
It will say "Storage hole", if it's clickable.
5. If you spot the Star formation and can not target it, move down to the next POS on the list.
6. If you see slashes like K-7/L-7 this meeens it's on the line between 2 POS.
7. If you see 4 such POS like; E-9/F-9/E-10/F-10 this means its on the crosshair
8. Contrary to popular belief the "Storage hole" will NOT move randomly.
It will ONLY move, IF someone clicked on the "Storage hole"
9. Respawn on this "Storage hole" if someone happened to nab it before you,
is approximately 10 minutes. So be patient.
10.I hope by providing this much needed info on the RDM AF1 sword, it will
drastically cut down your search efforts, so as not to repeat my 6hr effort.

Another spot is the middle of K-9 between a tree stump and a tent, just west of the Hide Flap.
Just did this as 75 WHM/NIN. Even with three other orc links it was easy. Found the storage hole pretty easily too, over on the east side of the map around K-9. 75 does not have to worry about aggro except from the coffer mobs on the center island (and that area can only be accessed through Monastic Cavern so there's really no need to worry about it.)

Did this quest the other day with help from a mate (a level 71 BLM). Purpleflash spawned within a few minutes and we eventually took him down - Refresh was actually needed, he has a fair amount of HP. Nothing too difficult, but the fight took longer than I ever expected. No chance of me bringing him down alone.
Escaped to Jugner Forest then, and went back inside to hope that the Food Storage was just inside. Found it after a few minutes of running around bashing the tab button repeatedly, in one of the areas that was never going to aggro me. God the dried food, returned to Sandy, and got this rather fine sword :-)

Solo'd him as 61pld/30rdm with minimal buffs, just keep chunking life out of him. His enfeebling sucks and he can't do ele damage worth crap. His 2 hr was more annoying than anything else. He does have alot of HP though

Had to kill all the Orcs and lizzies for NM to pop. Easy fight even withhim resisting the Elemental Seal-->Silence. SATA+FastBlade went twice for about 300+dmg each. Watch the Blizzard 2's though. I got hit for 179 on one towards the end. Usual BLM spells though he didn't do too many -ga spells (thankfully). We started looking for the hole and looked near the fence. Word to the wise, don't go up the plank. %&RDM had EPs also. After WHM and myself were raised NM popped 5min later. Still looking for the Storage point

I been searching all day and I still cant find the Storage spot.Can someone please help me?
I attempted to solo this as blm75. Everything was going dandy until I linked about 4 orcs + 2 lizards. :D
So I killed purpleflash, but by enfeebles. I had 4 mp, and about 300 hp XD I couldn't cast anything or rest and I had used all my yag drinks and 2hr was down.
Needless to say, I died and had to hp, haha! but I got the key. I'll go back later and find the food.

I went with a LVL 75 NIN/WHM and I came as a 59 RDM/BLM. The NM was easy enough with my friend helping. The Storage Hole was probably the most frustrating part of the whole thing. Ran around Davoi as a 59 RDM and in some areas the Orcs con Decent and Easy Prey still for about 2hrs or so. I log and decided to try my luck later.
Took me about 5 minutes to find it after logging off for about a good 5 hrs or so. I found the Storage hole @ K-7/L-7. It's a little hard to explain, but it was right in between these two cordinates. If you look at the ground there is a star formation on the ground. Also just to make it clear when you are running around Davoi looking for the Storage hole, it literally does say "Storage Hole." Don't be fooled by "???" or "!" that are around Davoi.
Also you don't need to examine the "???" under the board/bridge @ F-9. We just killed like two Orcs near there and the NM appeared.

Meditate once and engaged, got a link from a orc (rng) beside which i ignored.
Tachi Gekko, whack whack whack tachi Gekko Pretty much repeat.
got another ORC ( Mnk ) aggroed which i ignored too.
Used 2hr when it drop to ard 40% and did 5 weapon skills on him with some skillchains killed it with about 400 HP starting from 1223. killed the other two aggro with little effort.. found hole near junger forest zone

woot finaly found the storage hole at (F-6) droped invis got aggro strait away lol traded key got food then chain spell warp FTW with 185 /901 HP

Just got mine last night. Brought along a 75 BLM, owned the NM, walked like 30 feet, found the storage hole, BAM. Yay.

I did this with me at 41rdm and my friend at 73mnk easy as hell the nm dropped quick, but right after aggroed like 8+ gobs and they owned the 73mnk it sucked hardcore... had to go back later and find the storage hole.
