SummaryA piece of samurai artifact gear lays hidden in a coffer inside Temple of Uggalepih. WalkthroughNote: To obtain this quest, you must have completed The Sacred Katana - SAM AF1 and activated the quests Borghertz's Loyal Hands and Yomi Okuri - SAM AF2. Head to Temple of Uggalepih and farm an Uggalepih coffer key. These drop from Hover Tanks, Temple Bees, Temple Guardian, Tonberry Dismayers, Tonberry Maledictors, Tonberry Pursuers and Tonberry Stabbers. Next, find a coffer. Coffer spawn points include I-7, I-10, J-11, H-8, G-8, G-7, G-10, G-9, E-8 and E-7. Be careful of doll mobs, which agro to magic. If you need to open a door to check inside a room, ry to hug a corner, which will make it more difficult for tonberries to see you. Also note, the spawn point at E-8 requires an Uggalepih Key to access, and the E-7 point requires a Prelate Key. dont fight the tonberry nm killed me 55sam and 56blu and 75pld and ruined my key run

just thought id say that its not easy to die to throat stab. it takes a couple sec for the tonberry to use it. all u have to do is run away from it when it uses the move.

I've been trying for 4 days now to get this stupid coffer. I went in on my main (Dragoon 75) to farm my coffer key. Well, that took 4+ hrs. I think I recieved every rare item and I even recieved a prelate key before my coffer key. Finally, after 25 or so kills I got my key! Now the hard part, since I had a prelate key I figured just to get a Uggalepih key as well. One kill and it dropped. I went back to whitegate and decided to sleep lol.
The next couple of days I searched throughout the temple on my SAM and to no avail, no chest. Finally, I decided to listen to the guide and go into the prelate room. Lucky me cause I had both keys needed hehe. I un-invis trade first key, then re-invis. I do the same thing then all of a sudden I see "Tonberry Stabber starts casting Dokumori: Ichi" The god dam tonberry saw me through the door >.> I ran as fast as I could over to the throne and there was the chest!! But all of the agro finally caught up to me and I had died right upon the chest. Gah, looks like I got another week ahead of me.
Word of advice just like the guide says, that chest will sit there in that prelate room forever! I think it was there for a few days. Also the dam Tonberries can see through doors so be cautious when trading the key to the two doors. Good luck!

I tried over the span of three days (1-2 hours spent each time) in this temple of temple of Yoda-looking, throat-stabbing Beastmen to procure my last piece of AF gear and it was more miserable than LB3 and farming for my Woodsman's Rings combined.
Day 1: 75WHM friend sends me a tell and asks if I want to get my Ugglepih Coffer key out of the blue. Without hesitation I say yes, thank him profusely, and tele out to the temple. An hour of fighting Hover Tanks, Temple Bees, and Tonberries later we finally get the drop (and some nice scrolls, 2 RDM testimonies, etc. This may not be a bad place to farm in your 70s...) He logs shortly after and a 75SMN comes to help me find the coffer. After an hour of searching all the spawn points and finding nothing, we both log.
Day 2: LS buddy offers to help and comes as 75RDM. Tab-spamming through targets in the hall around F-7 of the second map finally targets a Treasure Coffer through the wall. We head to the granite door at E-8 and RDM suggests that a Coffer Key is needed to open it. I don't argue (or check back here >.<), and after 30 minutes of killing the above mobs all over again: Coffer Key -> Door = nothing. We both check back here, smack ourselves in the head, and log.
Day 3: 75WHM from day 1 comes out we check the area and the coffer is still targetable from F-7 through the wall. We kill cutters for 30 minutes before an Ugglepih Key drops. We enter the E-8 room and head to the second door when he realizes that he forgot his Prelate Key in his MH. >.< Thankfully, he was able to target & cast Flash on a Maledictor in the E-7 room, who charged out with 3 friends and left the door open behind them. As my friend zoned the now-massive Tonberry train I hopped in, ran behind the throne and popped the coffer and got a sweet piece of town onry gear.
The moral of this story is that if you show up to the temple, don't bank on a quick hunt! Some people get lucky with spawn points, others (like the author and me) get boned. If you target the coffer from the F-7 hallway it's probably best to forget about it for a couple of days and check in later... unless you've got some VERY patient high-level help.

HI, i'm a 61 samurai from Ifrit. I was having a lot of trouble getting help from this coffer and today a 75 ninja called Mane helped me. Just like to say thank you so much Mane ^^.
Took us about an hour and a half to get the key drop which went smoothly for us.
Finding the chest didn't go so smooth >.< I died twice, once when Mane was fighting the Temple Guardian I got aggroed by a Tonberry and died from a Throat Stab -.- The other time we were trying for a prelate key and my Invis dropped and I got aggroed by every Tonberry in the room with the prelate door. Mane managed to kill every Tonberry and raise me up but it was a close call. He then managed to do the glitch to get through the door where u target the Tonberry on the other side and the coffer was waiting there behind the chair for me. (/cheer)

Got the body tonight, in 20 mins.
Coffer popped in the room at (H-8). No mobs near the door.
Bought a lot of prism, but i used only 5 or 6...>_>

WOW, I'm so happy I got this finnaly >.>
About a week ago I got my key with a skill up party, then after the maintenance i thought i could get it solo, WRONG. Theres doors everywhere which require you to take off invisible around tonberrys, which is hard and annoying. So as I tried to do this, i got agro, i ran for my life and used my trusty Trick staff II to get me out.
I thought I'd leave it until is was 70-75 until I got this, but after I got my helm, I thought i may aswell see if anyone in my ls can help, and someone can help :-) They said they'd get their 75BLM/WHM to help.
I told him what I wanted him to do (He goes and and searches for coffer chest while I stay at zone, when he finds it ill come to him)
So he went around and searched twice but Didn't find it :-(, we only left the prelate key area out. And unfortuantely, as I was standing at zone, another sam 58 popped in, who obviously wanted it. My friend said we should get the prelate key, so we killed one chopper outside, but no drop. We then waited 15 minutes for one to respawn and it never did.
I told him we'll search one more time, and if it's not there we'll give up, and he agreed. So I stood by zone, went afk a bit, and when i came back i see "Treasure coffer" on my screen :-))). I went where? where? and he came picked me up. I ran to the location (G-9) but my invis and sneak wore off as I traded the key. I got my AF luckily. Everything aggroed me and he sleepga II'd them and I ran like a sissy girl, he told me to come back so he could escape us and he did.
Afterwards I thanked him and told him I had to go to norg to pick up my AF helm, on my way there, i got aggroed by a malboro, which I didnt expect at lvl 60. I equiped my trick staff II, and I had to wait a damn 30 seconds..... I went down to 200 hp before using it, and when I got to my HP i had 80 hp, close call >.>

Wow i got really lucky on this one apperently after reading all the other posts. Farming lanterns for ZM4 to get into the Sac. Chamber and key drops. Go do ZM4 get out and zone into the Temple and guess what... yep the Treasure Coffer is sitting right there. Well I suppose that 70SAM should have this and now I do lol, though it can't replace my hauby or hachiman.

I have to say this ranks high up there with the worst coffers. I thought I had it all well planned, my lvl 75 nin friend came along to help me get the key and we thought we would be fine.
Since we had to fight bees, Tomberries and jugs I didn't think it would be too bad. The thing that screwed us over was Final Sting and that throat cutter attack though, killed my friend twice and took out all of his shadows in one shot >.>
Anyways, the thing to remember here is high level help is a must, bring a sh*tload of invis powders and make sure you have a damm map of the place, either on you or printed out. Oh! How did I get it? Well it was taking me two days of running around wild in the temple trying to find a coffer by targetting it through the door (I was alone and stacked on invis btw) I finaly found it on the second day. Targetted a poor t-berry behind a door, shot his *** with an arrow and voila! Door opened, coffer ninja'd and warp staff activated. Sure the armor sucks, but you can bet your *** I'm gonna wear it in parties until i get my higher lvl stuff. gl!

Just solo'd this coffer key on my 74drk/nin. Soloing the bees isnt so bad if you have utsu: ni, and some solo gear (I was using scorpion harness, AF legs, opti hat, and took off anything with -def or -eva).
They go down quick unless they do that pollen move, and final sting can be a pain at times. I rarely went under 900hp on them, if shadows went down I just stun and put them back up. The only difficult part is finding bees that are solo, or easy to pull without aggro. Got it to drop in about 15 bee kills total.
Now the next challenge, tracking the chest down on my sam. =(

Great story here... after over a month of trying to get help for my body af, last night I managed to form a part with like 74WAR, 72WHM, 60PLD, 67SAM, 61SAM/RNG(me) and 70BLM... we killed stuff for about 4 hours cause our WHM kept dieing. With a good party it's not too hard, just try not to get multiple magic pot aggro which kept happening to us, cause we though we were invincible <.<
Anyway after that happened me and the 72WHM went to look for the coffer for like an hour and never found it, we both kept getting aggro and it became difficult so we called it a night.
The next day a friend of mine Yekim (66BLM) decided to help me so we went to the temple and started looking for coffers. I had /NIN subbed this time for Tonko which made things easier. After about our 4th coffer point, I was like "Are you ready?" so I opened the door and he runs in and then he screams "OH GAWD INVIS IS RUNNING, OPEN THE DOOR OPEN THE DOOR... by the way, the coffer is in there" so I opened the door, screamed "Start casting Escape!", dropped tonko and opened the coffer. I got the armor! But Yekim kept getting interrupted so I opened the door, pulled hate from all 3 aggroing Torberries and he managed to cast escape... we litterally made it out with 60HP and 27HP... I must tell you it was pretty scary to sit there and watch the BLM attempt to escape with 27HP while I'm getting pounded on and nearly dieing myself.. but it was really exciting!

can I get some spawn points of the mobs that drop the key?
hmm, i'm about ready to do this (okay, i'm 60 and it's the only AF i dont have, should've done it a whle ago). My question is, if i get a key, then get a lvl 75 friend to help me find the coffer, will we be okay? Will he get aggro from anything in there? and will we be able to easily kill the Temple Guardian and maybe mobs that drop Prelate/Ugg. Keys? I've been dreading this for so long, i cant wait to get it over with!
I went to get my AF body last night and am utterly perplexed by this:
Went in as a 58 SAM/NIN (for Tonko) with my boyfriend, 58 NIN/WAR. Using ffxi-atlas.com maps, we entered the Temple at the zone labeled number 1. There are tonberrys and rumble crawlers at the entrance, before the Wooden Gate. No problem, we both Tonko, charge into the room.... AND GET AGRRO FROM THE CRAWLERS. Invis did not wear or anything, and according to the walkthrough, crawlers don't aggro, so I don't know what happened....
Anyway, we zoned out at the number 2 entrance, ran around the corner and headed for the number 3 entrance. After the wooden gate, only invis is needed for certain. Once in the number 3 entrance, we began scouting for coffers and coffer key droppers as I didn't have a key yet and had no idea where the key droppers were. From the entrance, we used tonko and proceeded to run around. We took a right and then the first right and the in the first room after that.... OMG, there's a coffer in there!
We scouted around trying to find key droppers, until finally we did a search for someone in the area who might know. Saw that a friend of a friend was also in the Temple, and although he didn't know us, we sent him a tell politely asking if he knew where the key droppers were. He directed us to the same area he was in, G-8 of the zone with entrance number 5. So we backtracked out of number 3, into number 2, and instead of zoning out of number 1, we went out entrance number 4.
After we zoned into number 5, we immediately found the key droppers: Temple Bees. As two 58s, these conned Tough to us. We could fight them one at a time, and it was very handy for us both to have Utsusemi. The guy who gave us directions (74 THF) graciously formed an alliance with us so we could utilize his TH2. He was there with a 74 PLD. WARNING: the Temple Bees do frequent "Pollen"s on themselves and can also do a pretty nasty "Final Sting." We fought about 10 bees before the key dropped and after much /bowing and many {Thank you}s. we ran out, praying that the coffer was still there.
YAY! Coffer still intact, and we just had to fight one measly Tonberry Stalker in the room. I popped the coffer and received what is, in my opinion, one of the coolest looking pieces of AF in the game. :D

A lot of times people will try to pop Habetrot (a crawler NM) near the entrance you first went in (where you got aggro from a Rumble). The thing about him is, when you trade the items to pop him to the ???, either a Rumble Crawler or Habetrot will spawn. Sometimes when people get a Rumble Crawler, they will zone it, either to avoid links or just out of laziness. The Rumble Crawlers popped this way WILL aggro people, and the normal non-aggro Rumble Crawler nearby will link with it, causing people to think they aggro. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell the aggro one apart from the non-aggro one. The best way to avoid aggro is if you see 2 crawlers right near each other when you first come in. If that's the case, throw up Sneak first; only one normally spawns there.

This is somewhat dangerous, but it can be done with most ranged magical/ninjitsu/SMN attack and manipulating the camera angle until you target a mob on the other side of the door. Before attempting this, make sure you can actually kill the mob behind the door and that your party is with you ...
Anyway, there exists a glitch the game where one sometimes can target a mob that is through walls ( Noteably in Delkfut's, always can target a Wallkeeper etc, from the lower floors, or in KRT you sometimes can target the MUCH tougher Tomb worms below) In this instance, you can usually target a wandering Tonbery behind the Prelate Door. Make sure your party is all gathered and as soon as the tonberry on the other side is within range, dia/ Hojo / etc it. Although behind a lovked door, this seems to **** the tonberry off enough to actually open the door itself to come after you. :) As you may have guessed, everyone needs to run through the opened door and finish off the nice lil' tonberry who let you in.
Use common sense (such as avoid Manipulator aggro when casting magic, by checking to see that it is not on that side of room.) and the prelate key can be bypassed.

I just got this body piece tonight as a level 54 SAM. After getting bored trying to put together a party for rank 5-2 I decided to head out to the Temple of Uggalepih, see if anyone was there skilling up and to see if I could try my luck. I knew I couldn't wear this for another 4 levels but 1) I was bored, and 2) I like having equipment in advance so that when I do level, I can immediately equip it.
Anyway after having a look through the search upon arrival at the temple I saw that 3 parties were in there and from some of the search comments 2 were skilling up. I decided to send one of them a tell regarding the possibility that I could have a coffer key if they found one, but I got no reply from either of them.
After a little deliberation I decided to just put out a shout asking for help with a coffer key and to start with I got nothing back. A few minutes later I got sent a /tell from a very nice player named Rholin who gave me the location of a coffer he'd just spotted - I-7, the Painting Room that zones into Den of Rancour. At this point I was going a little frantic as I had a location but no key, two minutes later this wasn't a problem.
I recieved another /tell from Ayudaikuuji asking if I still needed a key, invited me into his party and allowed me to lot for it. I was stoked, though it dawned on me that I wasn't going to be able to get there on my own. Again, I recieved a /tell.
I was speaking to a Chinese player named Cools who didn't really know where the locations were, but because I had maps and could navigate the way he would help me get there and make sure I got my coffer.
I met up with him and the entire journey for me was pretty hairy, I was still only level 54 and anything in here would anhialate me if I ran out of prism powders or if one wore off along the way. A few fights down the line (none due to my aggro thankfully - just clearing the path of Idols) we were in the Painting Room and I could see the coffer at the back and I bolted for it as Cools cheered me on from behind. I dropped invisible as soon as the Tonberry turned his back and traded the key, nothing happened, I was too far away. Moving closer and thinking I was going to get batterred from behind at any moment I traded again and got my armour and used my last remaining prism powder, moved to the back of the room and used my warp scroll.
In all honesty I didn't expect to get it and I was actually considerably worried about this piece of AF armour considering the hellish time that a lot of people I've spoken to (and indeed on this forum) have gone through in order to obtain this armour or just try to - I scored huge on the luck stakes tonight.

Got help from my linkshell with the key and after about 30-40 mins the key dropped.
Wher we were there one of them said that we should try to find the coffer and who wants to refuse such a nice offer :P.
The lvl 71 samurai scouted out all the places where coffer spawns and of course... the coffer were inside the locked room. Fortunate another member had a key and we opened the door and *tadaah!* there it was.
They start to kill the mobs while i open the coffer and recieve my AF body.
Unfortunate brave Hibiu (lvl 65) died on the way out but we raised him and everybody cheered me on.

Grimlok.. anyone on Asura.. I'm SAM57. Please help me out! I need my AF for my next level, I'm not rich or anything I aint gonnna be able to afford a Haubergeon. This body piece is important to me, I need help on getting my coffer! I have a coffer key, and door key but no prelate key. Please.. no one wants to help me.. I've been trying for a month and a half. Please help a fellow SAM out, anyone on Asura, please hear me out :(

Im soon to be lvl 58 and was interested in getting my body armor so i can have full set 2 look cool ive shouted endless days in jeuno and nothing about to give up if ur on the Phoenix server and you can help me send /tell Pest is my name thank you

Mid January: Me and this summoner named Steven both need Temple of Uggalepih coffer keys for our AF pieces. We organize a 3 pt alliance and head out there. Aftre 4 boring hours, no key. The alliance disbanded, and we went our seperate ways.
End of January: Me and Steven decide to have another go at it. We form another alliance, and we got help from thieves who were camping Sozu Rogberry. After 3 hours, a key finally drops, and I get it. While trying to get another key for Steven, Sozu pops. No knife, but oh well. After a half hour after the Sozu fight. We get Steven a key. After that ordeal I went back to Jeuno and asked a high lvl Samurai to help me get the coffer. After searching, we find it was behind the door that needs the Uggalepih Key, and we don't have it. I tried 2 more times lookign for the coffer, all failures. I gave up looking for it after the last raid.
2 days ago: Around 9 a.m., I decided to give the ol' Uggalepih coffer another go. After 5 minutes of shouting in Jeuno, a nice lvl 74 Japanese drk named Kita said he'll help me.........for a fee (100,000 gil). This is the first time i have ever paid for help on things, but it was damn worth it. Once we get to the map with the coffer spawns, he goes and scouts the area. After like 5-10 minutes, He says this, "Pulling Guardian, blocking coffer". So he pulls it, and the first thing the temple guardian does is meltdown. Luckily, Kita stunned him before he did it. After the guardian died, Kita went back to scouting, after 2 minutes, he said "Treasure Coffer sighted, Kita is coming back". I was so psyched. After a few close calls with Tonberries and Invisible wearing, we got to the point (I-7). I was just about to drop invis when Kita said "Wait, not yet, Tonberries, Coffer don't run away ^^". After 1 minute, he said, "OK gogogo". I dropped invis, got the Myochin Domaru, and he teled us out (he subbed whm). I paid him his money, and I was on my way.
Thats basically my story. I'd like to thank Everyone who helped me get the coffer key. I especially like to thank Kita for helping me get the Myochin Domaru after 2 months of trying to get it.

Just thought id share my story, so that you know its not all bad, the horror stories on this thread combined with the fact its not a great peice of AF gear almost put me off even bothering to go for it.
Id been shouting on and off for about 2 weeks for help, but lets face it no one wants to go there to skill up on tonberrys, when there are many less lethal options. So i decided just to go up to the temple anyway and have a look around, just to find out why people hated this place so much.
When i get there i run a round for a bit trying to figure out which map im on, i strongly recommend subbing ninja or whm here, its a big place and it would cost a fortune in powders, it takes 3 uses of invis just to get to room with the coffer dropping mobs in, due to zoning and having to open doors.
After a while of asking on tells a lvl 75 thf/nin who is in the area agrees to help me try to get a key, with both of us subbing nin we were able to duo these very easily, well i say duo he did all the damage and i just kept my shadows up so i didnt get hit when he used trick attack on me. Anyway 9 mobs later we get the key drop /cheer, i thank him for the help and leave to try and find the area where the coffers are.
10 or so uses of Tonko later i finally decide ive found the right area, i check all the easy spawn locations, obviously wasnt in any of them, so i sit in the so called safe room spawn point and try and decide what to do, tabbing around i suddenly highlight another player through the wall, its a lvl 75 summoner, i ask him if he will help me find the coffer, like almost everyone that comes to this zone he doesnt speak english, i use auto translator but i get no responce.
10 Mins later he comes running into the safe room where i am still sat hoping for a spawn, and tells me {Treasure} {Box} {Found It} {This Way}, i quickly invis and follow him and sure enough in the guardian room at the top of the stairs THERE IT IS. Grabbed my AF thanked the summoner and warped my *** out of that hell hole.
So in total it took me about 3 hours, 30-40 Tonko invis spells and 0 deaths. I can confirm that you dont need sneak at all, so nin is a brilliant sub for this quest.
Special Thanks to Kazicht the Thf/Nin for helping me get my key and Wyrd the japanese Summoner for finding the coffer and killing the guardian to get into the room. These guys truley ROCK.
