on the 6th kill i got the key >.> which i didn't want i wantted the ingot... and im 0/6 with the ingot and 1/6 with the key >.> had a lv75 with me to help but yeah i never got the drop of the ingot

Hey these guys were not to be found when i wen tin just a buncha spects do i kill the specs to spawn the Shadows?

could a lvl 53 PLD/WAR solo one of these?

I went as PLD63/WAR31, and had no problems at all. I even used Berserk whenever it was up to kill them faster. Vorpal Blade was hitting for a minimum of 450, and maxing out at 750+, and their Dimensional Death was only hitting for 45-100 with Protect/shell III up.
I only rested 3 or 4 times, after clearing every room with no problems.
I got aggro once, while I was healing MP, but took care of it easily. Long story short: PLD 63 should have absolutely no trouble farming these.
Just killed my 42nd one with no key drop, though ;;

Shadows mainly use dimensional death if you use a WS on them, then they follow with DD. So if you are worried about it, save your TP, they occasionally use it then, once they use it, then follow with your WS.
These guys are pretty easy. Solo'd many in a row as a 60pld/15thf. They only used Dimensional Death once per fight if at all. When they used it damage was only about 175.
Yeah, don't farm these. You can solo them at 60, but the REALLY like to spam Dimensional Death. I was playing with them while waiting of a friend to arrive for WHM AF whatever. Their normal attacks don't really hurt, 15-35 damage average, i think, but dimensional death did something like 230-300 damage per. Since I was subbing WAR, for the AF quest I was helping on, had no real way of recovering after a fight than rsting, and they aggro to that from a good ways away. My advice is if you are gonna farm them, and use /thf, then hang out near the Ore Golems, because we intimidate them, and we can drain from them.
I can't tell if they link... I've run with one in front of another in the same room killing them as 60 RDM lots of times and the other one never linked, but in the one room near the BCNM the two there seem to always link for me. It's weird they seemt to only lin sometimes. One time another ran right on top of me when i was fighting a seperate one and never attacked me.

These guys do link, I found out the hard way. First time I thought it was a fluke and maybe I voked the other one by accident or something, but then had another link later.
These have to be Red Mages for a few reasons -
1.) Use Dispel
2.) Use a sword/shield
3.) The sword is a Degen type and has roughly 320ish deley...

There are multiple jobs for them. Some are dark knights, some are red mages, some are warriors (or paladins, can;t tell off hand.)
You can usually tell by the weapon they are carrying.

I did see one of those use Dispel , and i was "wtf?" i thought they were DRK.
ya one of them used dispel on me, and i lost stoneskin, he then used dimensional death...ouch..
as a 54 rdm i brought down one of them to a sliver of health. i woulda killed him np, but i only had half of my mp, my convert timer wasn't ready, and i got aggroed by 2 of them before i could buff up.

I'm pretty sure one of these is RDM, because when killing them with another WHM friend of mine (Me WHM42 and her WHM50) I swear some of them could dispel. I could be wrong...

When I helped my whm friend get her key the party set up was 45war/thf 50war/thf 45whm/blm and we didnt have any problems.
But my suggestion would be to get a tank friend to help not sure how hard it would be with just mages. (though you can blink, stoneskin and other buffs)

Take this into account: dimensional death bypasses blink.
It does? Utsusemi certainly stops it. I blink tank shadows for people all the time~

She's talking about the white magic spell Blink, which is not perfect like Utsusemi. Since none of these mages are subbing NIN, it can only be assumed that they only have access to Blink the spell. And I am quite certain that even though Utsusemi may prevent the Dimension Death attack, Blink does not.
Also Drops Ignot of Royal Treasury Gold.

Yea im pretty sure you can, im a 59 RDM/BLM and i am soloing them atm, just watch out for Dimensional Death ^^ (Maybe try WHM sub if you want ^_~)
Shadows still aggro to L56. The ones that do give 12 exp in a two person party. I think the level range is to 47 or 48.

At 60 for RDM these things are nothing, but I do have to say that the drop rate on the key sucks ...

Well, it would be possible I suppose, but I advise against farming these. The fact that Drain/Aspir doesn't work would cause the need for resting, which would likely lead to aggros and a lot more trouble than worthwhile for the Life Belts.
