or a Galka/Elvaan BLM that, rather than an Eredite's, needs to use a hairpin for the extra MP... Elvaans sucks as BLM b/c they also need all the INT equip they can get. Bad mojo.

Scale mail at level 10 has 1 defense point more than this, and RDM can wear it.

Okay, question: Who actually uses this? Not a flame, just thinking that every job has a better option. A WHM will likely be wearing a Doublet (same def, a level earlier, and better looking to boot), a BLM should be using a Royal Footman's Tunic (free INT? (|Yes|) (|Please|) )... maybe a MNK could use it for the one level before Power Gi?

What do you mean is it useful? The doublet does not allow you to equip headgear. Ok, if you get the linen robe and don't equip headgear then it is on par with the doublet. But think about it, they're the same defense, but if you have the robe then you have a dozen options for headgear. So, if you need MP (Brass Hairpin) or MND (Travelers Hat) or evasion (Comp. Eye Circlet) then the answer is unequivocal. This is far superior. For a WHM it is the best gear until Kingdom Tunic at level 15. Not so much for what it is but what it isn't; an inventory hog. I guess if you have a job that lest you care about how you look at level 12 then by all means go for the doublet but my WHM needs MP and MND.

Oh, and if you need defense the choice is clear as well. Equip the Poet’s Circlet with your Linen Robe and you add 15 defense points to total defense, but the Doublet lags behind with 10. I would argue that most Cannot Equip Headgear armor is useless or only useful in a few narrow applications.

It's the Tunic that does not allow you to wear headgear.

I wouldn't say that it's not useful. It has the same DEF as a Doublet, it costs less, AND it's not for one level lower. I give it an A+ for a WHM. :)

um... maybe a whm might use it because doublet costs loads more? doublet sells at merchants for just under 3k, and i think that linen robe sells for about 600-800 gil (i forget lol)

yeah one lvl for savings of 2k? i'll take that hehe
