Great weapon! utsusemi Ichi sucks for obvious reasons but this weapon really helps it out. Sure theres tricks to keeping shadows up at all times but you can only do so much with Ichi. When shadows are down without recast, its very hard to recast Ichi and not get hit.. well not very hard, but because of your evasion gear, you have a chance to get hit, or not to get hit. Well this weapon takes it a step further and still has a chance to let you get your cast off even if you get hit directly, mid cast. From my experience, it was more than half the time.. I would be casting Ichi without shadows, get hit right in the middle of cast and say damn now im gonna lose a lot of HP.. but it still went off.. [thank you] Nikki weapon ;D
Okay so i was like damn ive never killed a NM and got a decent drop.. so i go to Carpenters Landing and see NM within 10mins of killing birdtraps.. boom see NM and get the drop :D 350k + in Quetzoqutal
Until what lvl should a Nin run with this in main hand? I still use it at lvl 41 and still see several other nin using it around lvl 40 as well. What do you guys think
I killed this about 7times today. I am now 0/7 btw, that placeholder thing works. That was very helpful, thanks! I will just by the katana, and maybe camp one later if I sell it. I hate this damned NM. :) Has 2900 HP, btw.
Well, I just camped this guy again, been so for a day about, im now 2/6 on em, wich isnt that bad, the PH info all good, best way to get this guy is /rng for the widescan, and it is a 2 hour respawn about.
me and a ls friend camped this tonight, we missed first claim on it, becuase a choco digger saw it and got it, but we got second, and got the Katana!! 1/1
Not that anyone cares, but i spent a long time writing up this huge article on camping orctrap, and page didn't load, i lost it all... Have fun camping ;;
I used this for about 5 levels and noticed nothing different in decreasing the amount of spell interruption.
Does the spell interruption effect only work when the katana is on your main? I had it in my offhand after I could put something with more damage in my main.
Anyway, it was a total waste of time to camp this, in my opinion.
just got this katana from AH today, havent tried it out yet, due to 10hr maintence, but i was just wondering if anyone could tell me if the 25% is noticable, my ninjutsu is capped for lvl 30. btw 750k ifrit server
I just camped it yesterday for the first time and took me 2 hours before it pop. Luckily, nobody is camping for it. Got the claim and killed it and got the drop Nikkariaoe. Selling price 450k in Phoenix. Now i can continue levelling my nin.
Hey Torment, sorry to burst ur bubble but this item is RARE, meaning u can only carry one of them. Not trying to be mean, just letting u know so u dont buy or hunt for a second and u cant use it O.O lol. This is an awesome Katana.
12hrs of camping this NM with 4 ls members, 3hr pop all in exactly same place and everyone got the katana!! thats like pure 100% luck or we are just the best NM hunters :P
Luck. No matter how many times it drops doesnt make you a better hunter. Claims is what makes you better. Skill has nothing to do with weather or not it will drop.
I don't know if they've changed the drop rate of this guy but I recently have started camping him as 59Thf/Nin with TH2 and Millionare's Desk with over 1mil in my gil box (if u believe in the +2 to th from that desk). Anyway, 0/4 >< Only thing i've gotten from him is leaf. Color me frustrated.
Camped in a trio for this ting, because the traps repop FAST (like a 3min repop time) - myself as THF/NIN, the other two as THF and RDM subbing RNG. We were working on three hours camping when it finally popped - dropped a leaf and the Nikkari. We plan on sharing the Nikkari between the three of us, as we all have NINs at 30.
well, I took it ok today with about half life & half MP as I was hunting tigers for teeth, took it down to about half HP before I died after using my 2-hr at lvl 50 as a 50 WHM/THF so I probably could have killed it had I been full
Access Carpenter's Landing from the southern entrance in Jugner, and head out of the little caved area (BUY A MAP! 3k is nothing!), the way out is the top right tunnel on the map. Run straight ahead, and slightly to your left you'll see several Birdtraps (or Flytraps, forgot the name; you'll see them though). It is EASILY soloable as 55drk/27thf, I cast Drain once the entire fight; there was no competition, except a THF that got there AFTER it died (meaning he was there for something else possibly as well). It doesn't hit hard, but hits pretty fast. I highly recommend being level 52+ melee for this, 57+ mage.
It dropped the one and only time I "camped" it, and camping consisted of me running out of the tunnel, screaming "OMFG ORCTRAP", casting "Stun", and praying it dropped.
I got lucky, but I'm sure as hell continuing to camp this thing. Good luck to anyone doing so in the future.
