Summary

It is time to obtain your Dragoon artifact pants, but first, you must help someone meet his quota...

Walkthrough

Note: You must have completed A Craftsman's Work - DRG AF1 to begin this quest.

Talk to Ceraulian at the Warehouse at I-10 in Port San d'Oria, and it will trigger a cutscene where he misses his quota, and he requires a Gold Hairpin(which can be crafted or bought at AH) for you to continue the quest.

After trading the Gold Hairpin to him, you must wait 24 Hours in real life before talking to him again. (NOTE: Time could be as short as a 12 hour wait.)

Speak to him after the time limit is lifted, and a cutscene will trigger. You must now go talk to Miaux in front of the Blacksmiths Guild in Northern San d'Oria, who gives you a key item. Take the key item to Ardea in front of the Goldsmiths' Guild in Bastok, and then make your way back to West Ronfaure, to a tower close to San d'Oria and speak with Esca.

You must now go to the small island off Batallia Downs, which you can only reach through the Eldieme Necropolis. Once there, at the edge of the island marks a ??? you can examine. If you examine it, an NM tiger called Sturmtiger attacks your party. Defeat it, examine the ??? again for a key item, and bring that item back to Ceraulian to finish the quest and obtain the Drachen Brais.

You only have to trade before JP midnight(whenever the conquest is tallied on is when JP midnight is for you) It could easily be a 2 minute wait if you do it right.

Ok on a practice run through the necropolis so we would all know how to get there before we got a full pt together to fight Sturm tiger the trip was bye far the hardest part and only because of aggro when are sneak/invis went down.

There was 3 of us a lv60 pld/war, a lv52 whm/blm and me a lv50 drg/whm My whm friend died because his invis went down at the wrong time and he was alone at one of the switches well me and my pld went to go raise him and wait for his weakness once that was done we got to the island.

Well when we got there there was ahtu but we left him alone and checked out the island first i got the monument item and so did my friend well after every one had full mp and we had are fill of the island we were ready to telle out of there when my whm friend brought up the idea of fighting the monster the whole time i thought they were talking about ahtu i asked to make sure which one they were talking about and when i found out he was talking about sturmtiger my jaw dropped for a second.
My pld friend was already up for it and i said "why not im feeling frisky" well we all figured we would die but it would be fun and we werent going out without a fight my whm friend gave us each a melon juice for are mp .

Heres how it went i examined the ??? and up pops the sturmtiger so i run a little to the pld he vokes it off easy but before he does sturm hits me for a little under 150hp when i saw that i laughed but i was sure he would kick are butts well we start beating on him at first it didnt seam like we even dented his hp mean while are whm was curing the pld and casting slow and paralyze.
i was casting paralyze and slow but they never worked for me so i stoped wasting mp since the whm had it covered.
When i noticed sturms hp reach 50% and the whm had 40 percent or more of his mp i started laughing and didnt stop. me and the pld nearly had full mp bye the end of the battle the whms mp was drained sturm was almost dead and the pld hp was real low so i kicked in i used divine seal + cure3 then super jumped off the hate just incase and as i did this are whm used his 2hr just as sturm dies lol.
After we let the whm rest for mp a bit he suggests another target ahtu being the only thing nearbye he suggested it that fight was unmentionable except in the end we noticed we exp chained him with sturm tiger.

So at the end of this run 30k(20k i made personally) was made and my af2 won. Now i have got to say this this could not have been possible without my friends Sillmyril and Aryamisra you guys are awesome. Well good luck to all those who still need to do this quest run.

We fought this NM for an LS bud in need of DRG AF2. Party setup was NIN54(me), 50THF/NIN, 50RDM/BLM, 51BLM/WHM, 50DRG/WAR. As soon as we entered the island we ran into Ahtu (Tree NM) and completely owned him, got the Key for the only person who had that quest active. From what we heard Sturmtiger can be a pain, and should be comfortably taken out by a party of level 55's. Let me tell you, this guy HITS HARD and FAST!! He ripped through my shadows like crazy, and nearly dropped the DRG a couple times, and nearly me at the end. Very close and exciting fight and it can be beaten with a very good party of low 50's.

Video of the battle (Windows Media Video approx 12.8MB)

I used a fully registered version of FRAPS. Captured at full screen, wide aspect ratio (16x10 Dell 20.1" Wide Screen Flat Panel) full frame(30fps). FRAPS saves the video as raw uncompressed AVI and the file sizes are enormous. At this point you need to compress and or convert the file into something much smaller. For convience and ease I use Windows Media Encoder 9 and a few templates i've created to convert the AVI into a WMV file. If you need some help or more info PM me, and I'm glad you like the video.

My guess is that the wait period after forking over the hairpin is just the same as with the Summoner mini-avatar fights- you have to come back the next day, which is after the server time limits reset- midnight Japanese time, or noon east coast time.
24 Hours??? No.
# Aug 20 2004 at 10:23 AM Rating: Decent
Hey, I just wanted to clear up the part about you having to wait 24 hours. You have to do no such thing. I know I just came back 3 hours later and got the continuation of the quest. That's not to say it takes 3 hours either, it may take less. But I do know it's not 24 hours.
time limit
# Jun 28 2004 at 8:59 AM Rating: Decent
so im going to be attempting this quest soon, and i was wondering if you HAVE to talk to Cerualian exactlly 24 hours after you give him the hairpin or does it matter if you wait a little longer? and also will logging out after you give him the hairpin have any effect on this quest?

There's no maximum time limit that I know of. I took 2 days (46 hours) to go back to him, and had no problem at all. You can logout or do whatever you need. :)

I did this quest last night we had a level 51 whm, a level 52 blm, a level 50 rdm, a level 51 drg (me), a level 53 drg, a level 52 war, a level 58 pld and a level 46 sam (came along for the map quest)... there was also a level 55 sam that came along but he fell down the wrong hole and had to go back. The nm for this is pretty tough. It hit me a few times for 180+ before the pld voked and flashed it. After that the fight wasnt too bad, but you do need a good party to defeat it.

I just did this for a friend, and getting there isn't too hard, once you know the right way to do it.

If your level is low enough to draw aggro from anything in the Necropolis, you NEED at least 2 Sneak/Invis capable mages for your entire party to get through.

1. Enter the Necropolis at the southern most entrance from Batallia.

2. Have 1 mage cast Sneak while the rest of the party waits just inside the entrance.

3. That mage will walk into the Necropolis and make every left you come to. Once you pass through 2 Lich/Fallen Knight rooms, you will appear in a large room with Shadows and Ghosts. Before you go in, turn on Invisible. Do Not Step On The White Graves!

4. Make a right in this room and go up to the West Plate. Caution: Azers (Bomb-type) aggro to Sight and Magic. Once by the West Plate, you can safely turn off invis.

5. Now the rest of the party turns on sneak and follows the same path (kepe making lefts). This time, stop in the first Lich/Fallen Knight room. Once everyone is inside the room, Mage #1 will hit the West Plate and open a door to the South. Everyone goes through that door quickly and Mage #1 hits the West Plate again to close the door once everyone is through.

6. Now, the mage who was taking care of the rest of the group has to help the first mage get back. The rest of the party stays put while Mage #2 casts Sneak/Invis and walks into another big room with Shadows and Ghosts. Again, do not walk on the white graves!

7. Again, go right in the big room, past the Azer, up to the South Plate and wait.

8. Mage #1 now needs to backtrack to the second Lich/Fallen Knight room he passed through. Be careful when recasting Invis and Sneak. Make sure the Azer is as far away as possible or it will come after you.

9. Once Mage #1 is in the Lich/Fallen Knight room, Mage #2 pulls the South Plate and Mage #1 goes south through the door to meet with the rest of the party. Don't forget Mage #2, you have to come back past an Azer too, so exercise caution when recasting Invis/Sneak.

10. Once the group is gathered, refresh Sneak and fall down the middle white grave only.
Make the first right, then 3 lefts and you're at the island! Watch out for Ahtu!

This may seem long, but I just broke it down to make it easier to read and understand. Take it one step at a time and you'll be fine. Hope this works for you!

I killed the NM with only 3, a Lvl 51 Dragoon(myself), 50 RDM, and 66 PLD, and we managed to beat it, but were it not for Invicibility, the Paladin would have died. Asking for high level help is recommended here.

The wait period is longer than 2 hours after you trade the Gold Hairpin, but you should be able to get the quest the next real life day.

The quest is called "Chasing Quotas"

Killed this with

55 drg
50 whm
49 whm
50 pld
50 blm

It was close call!!! but with one more lvl 50 would been fine. So dont listen to the people that says you need alliance or lvl 70+ people :)

I did this quest with a group of...

52 drg (me)
51 whm
52 blm
52 pld
52 pld
52 drk

we didnt have much trouble either.
Most of the guides i've seen online are highly exaggerated.... I read elsewhere its recommended to have a two party alliance O.o

Dont need high level help for everything either ya know. When the japanese went through the game, they didn't have that kind of help so...

Be quick on the paralyna so your tank can keep agro and not have provokes wasted.
