Dont underestiamate the coffer spwan point in Beaucedine Glacier part of Eldieme, thats where I found my coffer after waiting a few hours by the hume bones.

well as many of the people i have been hunting this for like 2 weeks now. the first time I went at 3 a.m., spent about 2 hours, no drop (i fell asleep, so the blm just escaped us and they disbanded, lol) 2nd time I spent like an hour and a half just shouting and begging ls to help me out. Finally got 2 70+ ls mates (thank you mosh and friend ^^) And we finally get out key after like 45 minutes or so. I wanted them to hunt coffers with me but they said just sneak and look around :/. But i had to go so i logged at bones, and tried again the next say. Once again no luck. So then i ask if anyone in ls can tell me spawn points on 2nd floor. someone tells me, yada yada, i wind up dropping off the little ledge and not able to get to either spawn point >.<. So then i just warp and say **** eldieme(sp?)! can anyone on ifrit help me out? i am available on tuesdays from like 3:20 to 11:30, friday from 3:20 to sunday at 11:30. please i want my pimp-slappin gloves ; ;

Well, since you're a RDM this should be a piece of cake (for the most part). At least the top floor spots. Use this map to see the spots:

Next, just sneak up and never let it down. There is a spot that is by one of the gate switches, where a Azer (bomb-mob) circling in the room.
That's the easy part.
Now there are 2 spots down by the hume bones - after you fall through the main drop hole in the center of the top floor.
Remember keep sneak up.
Next head straight (the only way you can go after dropping) through the first room, you should now come upon the hume bones. To the right and left of the bones are 2 potential spots.
Both have Dark Stalkers walking around. If you see the coffer, go to a safe spot, blink, stoneskin, yada yada.. the go for it.
Now, there are two other spots which really suck.
The first sucky one, is on the 2nd floor. However, you have to get to it by dropping through a hole on the farthest end from where you enter Eldieme. I know that one of the gates that room in Leviathan. Just drop down and see if it's there. If not, you can run out. You'll end up in Batallia. That one is more of a pain in the a$$ than anything.
Ok, and for the last REALLY sucky one. This is located in the Eldieme area located in Batallia, in the area you can ONLY get to by going through Beaucedine Glacier. A lot of people hunt their G1 paper in the spot, so you might be familiar with it. Use the map in the link I provided to check that room. Oh yeah, you'll need sneak there too.

This is a JP site i use with very good maps and coffer location. The maps aren't as good as the real thing, but are easy to read. This site also gives info on mobs that drop keys and what can be ffound in the coffer or chest.

I am a firm believer that going with Small key hunting groups are better. When my LS usually does this, we try to keep the group limited to about 4 people. A tank, 2 RDMs (one subbed WHM, one BLM), and a THF. Usually we do pretty good on the drops. We only went over the 2 hour mark once that way.

I don't know how hard it was for everyone else but my key came on first kill. I have had it for two days and cannot find that darn coffer, anyone got a map of the spawn spots please let me know I am tired of running back and forth from the glacier

sadly, i just had a 75 warrior and a level 75 red mage help me, we had chain 5's left and right, after 3 hours no key >.<, they had to log but tomorrow they will help me, the war wanted 35k and the rdm wanted 20k, but its worth it i have my AF boots so i quested the RSE boots for an easy 90k

Well this story takes place in front of an Auction House far far away,
Im sitting around chatting a little left and right (im lv.51 PLD at the time). and i decide im too unfocused to be able to party and keep the cool head and listening to all the annoying <call> sounds.
So i start checking my friend list of who else is online. and i find a lv.73 Dragoon friend who is sitting around doin nothing as well. So i ask him if he would wanna take me coffer hunting in Eldieme and he say sure. ok so we´re of! this was my first coffer hunt btw^^
We get to the Hume Bones room without any difficulties. Start killing Tomb Mages/warriors after about 6 or 7 kills (it went slow since we were only two and i didnt exactly deal much damage), then 2 from his LS who were also bored to death decide to come and aid our search so they arrive and now we are killing stuff within 30 sec each (not everyday you get 3 lv.70+ players to help you at once^^).
Anyway key drops on the 2nd or 3rd mob we kill after they arrive XD. So im like yay!! checked around on the 2 coffer spawns in that area, nothing. And the two newly arrived helpers were unsatisfied because it ended so quickly. So we decide to hunt for the coffer key in Garlaige Citadel as well.
Killed a bunch of Fallen mobs and Vault and Over weapons and key drops on the 7th mob or so. then they left to hunt for a HNM but i was happy got two vital keys within 2 hours^^
Anyway now i was on my own. didnt know what to do. i couldnt get inside to the coffers spawns in either place on my own. But i figured that i might be able to tag along another party through Eldieme Necropolis and so i did. ended up back in the Hume bones room, checked every spawn there still nothing. So i go back out and in the same way that gets you to the first map. Had extreme luck with doors since all the doors i wanted to go through were opened^^ anyway no coffers lying around in any of these spawns. the only one i had yet to check was the one from the Glacier area.
Then it suddenly hits me. the spawn point from the Beaducine Glacier area must be the last spawn location players decide to check out since its such a long walk. So i check it out and Booya! its lyin there waiting for me.
Heres the funny part i didnt know that sneak dropped when you open the coffer so i get like really scared since i knew i had Utukkus behind me. throw a new silent oil without thinkin twice and they never aggroed even though they were well within the aggro range=/
Got really surprised that i was still alive but took this chance to run faster than the speed of light. Made it out in one piece with my old gauntlets. Now i just have to figure out a way to deal with old sparky in Castle Zvahl...
A few things worthy of taking notice:
If youre like me and didnt have a whm job to sub and cast sneak and invis. Buy at least 3 stacks of silent oils. Because they will be your best friend^^.

Does anybody know how often they spawn? Ihave been looking for 2 days now and i can't find the coffer i even made 2 trips through the glacier to check there. Did they change the spawn locations during an update? Any info would be appreciated.
trying for the bell again, killed an earth ele and a plain chest key dropped. We need coffer )=
YES, it can be droped off the earth elememtal. ok heres what happened... me and 2 ls buddies a 64 blm and a 48 whm (yes a lv 48 came with us)and one of my other friends came with us he was his 75 drk. we have him pull haunts and tomb warriors and mages and durring one of the battles it chaned weather to earth and well, what do you know an earth elememtal poped right in our camp. the whm just happed to be casting cure 4 on the drk and then it argoed him had the blm elemental seal + sleep II it and then after the battle we engaged the elemental killed it quickly. we were in the necropolis for at max 5 min before we got it to drop. and about 3 of those mins were getting to the camp. haha i dont know if it was luck lol probly was o well now off to kill dark spark.
I got mine in like 20 mins.

LoL i spent so much time gathering a pt for this, I later realized that I didnt really need it. xD
But in the process of getting the key, i got a Tavnazian Bell soon after. Killed 2 birds with one stone.

Attention. If you have the power, Use it. Help the smaller guy. I have seen lv.75s walk around with nonthing to do. Full of Gill, max world fame, max rank, and sit around chatting in there glowing golden armor. Give a player A hand and help with a coffer key or 2. It might Come back ten fold in return.

It says that the Key is dropp'd from an earth Elemental. Has anyone ever seen it drop and if they do does it have to be an elemental of a higher lvl, or do all earth elementals have the ability to drop these?
Only If the Elemental is in there.

Hunting for the coffer, I spent a day camping the 3 spawns that are accesible solo. I asked the other people in the area if they had seen any coffers recently. No one had. I decide ***** it, I want a change of scenery, time to head through Beaucandine Glacier. 30 minutes to get back into Eldieme from this route, but it was well worth it. Coffer sitting on its little perch, with Utukku's greeting me with open arms. I was soooooo glad I had made this trek.
ADVICE: If you are having no luck in the main areas and know that no one else is either, please try this spawn. It may not seem worth it to go to right away, but if no luck elsewhere.... it's probably sitting here all by its lonesome. I was the happiest PLD ever after spending my remaining bank account on silent oils.
Now to find someone to help slay Dark Spark >.>

Never gonna beleive this...i'm been shouting in Jeuno for the past week trying to get some help. One of my LS mates told me to just cough up the cash and pay someone to get it for you. So i finally give in and start shouting reward available. When this level 75 BRD/37 WHM comes to me and says, i'll help you out. He brings along a 75 MONK/37 THF. And we get the drop in our first fight. I almost sh**** my pants. We were all amazed.
So around 10:30am I wake up and say I wanna get those darn gloves. So for about an hour I'm running back and forth... up and down those Jeuno stairs shouting a macro that says {Excuse Me]{Please}{Help me out!}{Red Mage}{Artifact}{Gloves}{Eldieme Necropolis}{Key}... etc
After about 90 minutes I ended up with a 14 person alliane, and only 3 were American. A 75WHM, 71PLD, a few 68DRKs, a 70THF, etc... Needless to say, I felt in good hands.
We get to the Necrop and already the American 58PLD is ******* that the JPN WHM (75 mind you) is't sneaking him. Our 1st campsite sucked, and one of the 2 BLMs die. After about 20 mins we move to abother site. Already he's /tell-ing me how he's wasted 7k on pots of sneak oils on me.... So we get to the new site, and he bails, just flat out disbands... He leaves one party in the alliance with just a WHM and a DRK... So I tell him he's being selfish, he calls me crass... etc
Two kills after he leaves....

i'm a level 54 blm, i went with a 54 whm, 56 blm, 66 drk, 68 war and a 45 thf. we needed 4 coffer keys and 1 bell for the whm. we got 3 keys in 2 hrs. even though we where 1 key short and didn't get the bell i'd say we were pretty successful.....of course 1 of the keys was mine XD.....oh yeah i also popped the coffer 10 minutes after i got my key....+15 DRK magic..(|Yes please.|)

I've tried to get this key for a month now, it's becomming a deal breaker for regarding if I'm gonna continue playing this game. I think after spending 15+ hours trying to get a key you should just automatically be awarded one, I know it's complete and total random luck, which is just stupid.
Anyways, I have an idea, I'm asking if anyone can think of a reason that would make this impossible to do. I have a 16 THF, I'm gonna run through Eldieme Necropolis with a couple stacks of silent oils and thief tools, find a coffer and try to pick it. I know the idea is stupid and I know that I'll likely die (a lot), but is there something that I'm not thinking about that would make it impossible? Lemme know so I don't waste any more of my time.
Anyways, I have an idea, I'm asking if anyone can think of a reason that would make this impossible to do. I have a 16 THF, I'm gonna run through Eldieme Necropolis with a couple stacks of silent oils and thief tools, find a coffer and try to pick it. I know the idea is stupid and I know that I'll likely die (a lot), but is there something that I'm not thinking about that would make it impossible? Lemme know so I don't waste any more of my time.

Assuming a 16 thief is capable of picking coffers (which I kinda doubt, but I don't think it's 100% impossible..just might take 200 tries) it would work. Key items don't check your job, just if you have the quest. I know first hand, I opened the pld AF3 coffer while on rdm/blm so I could sneak myself and warp. The only ones that check your job are the coffers that actually give you the armor, thieves can't pick other class armor in that case.
I don't think this will work, since the item in the coffer is a Key Item, so you probably have to open it with whatever job you want the gloves for.

Well, I'm 50 blm and I got this on my second run to the Necropolis. The first time was okay, although I volunteered to go last and didn't get a key.
The second time was horrible. I went with the same drk but a whole new group of people. Despite the fact that we had a 74 pld tanking this time versus the 54 and 58 plds of last time, it was awful. Fighting skeletons with Drain AOE, when 10/12 members of your alliance are melee...plus, the two mages were me (blm 50) and a rdm (anon, don't know his level). I had no refresh and no dark staff (1 level away from it) and everyone in my party had 1k+ HP. I said at the beginning I only had two and a half hours, about two hours in we got our first key. Against five-six other people, I won with a lot of 518, which is amazing. We fought another mob and boom, another key. The rdm got it. Half an hour later no more keys and people were getting tired, so I warped everyone out with my key in my inventory... :)
I would advise going to do this with fewer people, one party of 55-60 probably, and having a whm (Curaga II will be needed, I was trying to cure tank with the I version and it was a huge drain), as well as other mages. Someone needs to stun if you plan on taking Tomb Mages, they will cast AM, our mnk got hit with Quake the second time. As a note, we got two keys in about 2.5 hours, the night before about 2 in 4-5. We did NOT have Treasure Hunter II either time.

just spent 3 hrs killing mobs during fullmoon with a thf. no keys whatsoever. this game is more tedious than it needs to be.

Just want to let everyone going after this key, it sucks but possibly a little help, Spriggans dorp these too, I just ot mine from one finally. These are fairly tough, but if you are using an Alliance you may want to think about these, no annoying AOEs.
