Ok, I have heard that this is a difficult key to get. It was not stressfull at all. My party consisted of: 67MNK 63WHM 55PLD 50PLD 53PLD(me) 62BLM 58RDM 55BLM 50BLM
The 62BLM carby pulled everything to the awaiting MNK(who tanked everything with ease)about an hour into it we started getting drops, 2 dropped within 10 min of each other, then another at the hour1/2 mark. Then 10 minutes later a Bell drops for the whm and i get mine 5 minutes after that. So not too bad. We camped the Human Bones area for our drops. I had a great time with my coffer key hunt, I wish the best of luck to all attempting this in the future.
yo tiki, its Keyakku, we pt in east altepa, we were both PLDS wtf was up with that, well our ldr was n00b but damn, u lvl 58 i havent gotten a pt for a week and ivve been 2.5K tnl. ive hunted this too, at hume bones and then with a few lvl 75s who ended up dying somehow by links in the main room(not by hume bones) but {Congratulations!} on ur coffer
I have been trying for the last week to get this and nothing. everyday i'm in another PT and everytime we get nothing. in the last week of getting 2-10 EXP (4-6 average) per fight i've managed to get 700 EXP!!! please if your a HL on Fairy please help me out.
I finally got this key the other night after about 3 or 4 other failed attempts. All the other times I had party members leave as soon as they won the lot, and the full alliances I made slowly widdles down to where the remaining hunters wern't able to fight effectively.
A RDM friend(the leader of my new LS) and I needed the key so we rounded up all able bodied members from the LS that could help. Our party was very well put together for bone crushing and Coffer key hunting except for no THF for TH2. We decided to not wait till the LS THF got on and went hunting anyways. We camped the ledges from the north eastern most enterence, We prefered this camp due to the room we had to fight and close to zone.
We sneak up and take the 30 second run to the ledge where the Tomb Mages and Tomb Warriors spawn. We move a good distance away to avoid HP aggro and start pulling. Our 2nd fight nets us our first key. The RDM wins the lot narrowly and we start pulling for our 2nd key. After 3 hours of fighting and no drop I equip my old LS and ask my lvl 50 THF friend to come help us with his TH2, meanwhile My new LS's THF gets on and says she'll help aswell, she also gets her lvl 58 DRG to come along. Now we're a 10 person group full of MNK's BRD's and THF's and ofcourse me(PLD) and RDM. It took us another 5 hours to get the 2nd key to drop.
We started at 7PM eastern and had the 2nd key drop at 3:30AM. This hunt was so fun because when we started getting into the wee hours of the morning everyone started getting alittle crazy. Reading the chat log aftwards was quite an experience.
wow, the party I was in must have been real lucky. I have heard so many horror stories about this place..I should know, been in a couple myself. I needed coffer for my PLD and we brought along a lvl 50 drg cause he needed a paper. Well, we set camp at the "Hume Bones" and it took all of 30 mins for 1 coffer key to drop and 1 paper to drop. I was expecting to be there for at least 3 hours....oh well, eldieme owed me for the hell it put me through with my paper. What comes around goes around...hehe. Good luck to all with this hell of a place.
Took an alliance of 17 or 18 people to go coffer key hunting. We were 52-58, plus one anon Whm. We dropped down from the West Room and setup camp on one of the ledges. First battle a Tomb Warrior linked with a Tomb Mage. We eventually killed the Tomb Mage (no drop ;.;), but the linked mobs completely wiped out the alliance.
Linkshell Alliance 2
Six people from our LS along with three others went for coffer keys the other night. We got 4/6 drops over three hours.
Our camp spot was located in the tunnle directly east of the human bones. We moved because of the Earth Elemental spawns and groups were also coming down to fight Lich C Magus.
First key came before we killed 10 mobs (I won lot with 9??). Second Key came about 45 mins after that. Third key was around an hour later. The final key dropped on our last pull (very lucky) about half an hour after the third key.
Over the course of the night the Sam and 5? Drk had to leave.
We were able to take down any mob down there as well as handle links. I was worried on our first Spriggan pull after reading and hearing about how dangerous Spriggans are. Our party config was able to take down Spriggans, it just took longer to kill them.
We only had two deaths. It was a Rng Spriggan that killed us. Our Pld got d/c-ed because of a power outage. The Drk took over as tank. The 40 Whm got aggro from healing and then died. I got aggro from healing and a range attack broke my Stoneskin. I saved my MP for healing and refesh. Got aggro again and took a 770 Dimensional Death ^^. Whm Raise II + Mog'xperience resulted in -400 XP (not bad, I was +XP for the entire night, Spriggans were giving 60+ XP).
Alliance 3
Went back to help a LS member who didn't get his key drop. Got in an alliance where the Whm D/C-ed before we got to the Necropolis. We continued on. As we waited in the Necropolis, people got bored and decided to kill things. Someone used voke to pull a Lich from one of the brazier rooms. The fallen mobs in the room immediately linked and wiped us out. Blm cast escape, but only two people made it out. I got raised and immediate aggro from one of the doggy mobs. I raised on of the Plds and healed him as much as I could. He healed himself, but still wasn't out of yellow. One of the liches from the neighboring room aggroed him on low HP. At that point everyone decided to HP to Jeuno. My suggestion: IF YOU ARE NOT IN A VERY SAFE PLACE IN THE NECROPOLIS, DO NOT RAISE. That said, there are very few places in the Necropolis safe to raise.
Linkshell Alliance 4
Seven people from our LS went to get a key for our Pally who still hadn't gotten one and one for a Rdm in the LS.
Our Rng friend had to leave for an hour and we were later joined by a 5? Whm friend of out 60 Whm. Our Rng friend later rejoined us.
Our camp was in the lower level area of the Necroplis. We camped in the tunnles on the lower side of the ledges. Tomb Warriors and Tomb Mages come close enough to the ledge that you can Cure-pull or Dia-pull them down. The only thing you need to watch out for is the occasional Lost Soul link (EP to a 53). While pulling was slow, this is the safest camp spot I've been at. It took a little over two and a half hours for a first key drop. Second key dropped right after the first.
Keep silence on the mobs; they use Ancient Magic.
FYI - You can sleep the undead. I was able to with Elemental Seal + Sleep II. Sleep didn't last as long as it usually does on non-undead mobs though. You can also sleep Elementals. Just realize that you will most likely be the target when they wake up.
My suggestion is that anyone who has Stoneskin make sure you are always under its effects.
Rdms who have it should also cast Phalanx. Not only does it help with the AOE attacks, Phalanx extends the length of your Stoneskin since you take less damage. Rdms can also temporarily tank and add, pop, or aggro with Stoneskin + Phalanx + Silenced Mob.
**Getting Coffers**
This can be done with as few as three people, but be prepared to walk a lot. If you have six people you can camp the difficult locations; less walking and zoning. I did mine with three people. Over six hours we got three coffers. Lost 2,800 XP, but I'm now Master of the Necropolis =P.
It is best if everyone can sneak themselves by subbing Whm or Rdm. Two people will also need to invisble themselves.
One person must camp the coffer located at the Necropolis underground outside Beaudicine Glacier. A Blm from our LS camped this spot for us for over 6 hours.
Everyone else enter the Necropolis underground from Batallia Downs I/J 10. Head north. At J-8 you will come to a room with a north and a south exit. From this room it does not matter if you go north or south. Assuming you go North, continue north and west until you come to split at I-7. Head west.
If the door is closed, one person must head back east to the split at I-7 and go south. This will take you to The East Room (I-8) with ghosts and undead. Reapply sneak and apply invis. Enter the room and go west up the stairs. You will see a gravestone with a bomb going around in a circle. Take note on which way he goes around the gravestone. If he is going clockwise, you want to position yourself south of the lever. If he is going couter-clockwise, position yourself north of the lever. Take off invis and activate the East Lever. Make sure the bomb is as far away as possible. You can safely apply sneak and invis only if the bomb is stopped on the far side of the grave stone. Rejoin the others.
Once the door is open continue heading west. The tunnle will go south, west, then north. Continue heading west through the room with the brazier, fallen and liches (F-7). Follow the tunnle and you should be at the West Room (F-8). Two coffers spawn in the west room. One along the west wall and the other east, behind the gravestone that the bomb circles.
One person must camp this room and activate the lever for everyone else to get into position. Once again, take not on which way the bomb goes around the gravestone. If he's going clockwise, position yourself north of the lever. If he's going counter-clockwise, position yourself south of the lever. Same casting rules apply. You can safely cast sneak and invis, if the bomb is on the far side of the gravestone.
If you only have three people, the last person will now need to check all the other coffer spawns. Six people are much preferred.
One person must head south to the brazier room located at F-9. Three people must head north to the brazier room at F-7. Make sure to reapply a fresh sneak before entering the brazier rooms with the liches and the fallen. Have everyone enter their rooms and have the lever person activate the lever. The east and west doors will close, but the north and south doors will open.
The person who went south should continue south to the South Room (G-9).
Two of the people who went north should head north to the North room (G-6).
The last person who went north should head south to G-8. There will be a door heading east. You may need the switch person to activate the switch to open the door (you will actually be able to see the switch person if you look west).
The person who went south should go to the middle white square and drop down. You will end up at L-12 on the second map. The room you drop into will have a coffer spawn location. Keep sneak active at all times.
The person who is at G-8 will need to go east through the door. There will be a white square to drop down. This will take you to L-10 on the second map. I refer to this place as Human Bones (because of the Human Bones used to activate Lich C Magus). Head east to the Human Bones at M-10. The rooms directly north and directly south have coffer spawn locations. Be careful. People come down here to fight the NM Lich C Magus. Also, Earth and Ice Elementals will spawn in the coridors. Ironically, Human Bones is the one safe spot in the entire Necropolis.
One of the people who went north will have to stay in the North room. There are two coffer spawns, one in the north-west corner of the room and one to the south behind the gravestone that the bomb cirlces. The last person will need to drop down one of the white squares. This will take you to the second map L-9. The room you drop down into will have a coffer spawn.
Congratulations! You now have all of the Eldieme Coffers camped!
**Coffer Camping by Yourself**
If you are by yourself, you can access up to four of the Eldieme coffers. The one in Beaudicine Glacier and the two on the first map in the East Room (F-8). You can also get to one more coffer. In the first map East Room (F-8) drop down. You will be at J-10 on the second map. Head north and east until you get to a crossroads at K-8. Head east then south to get to the room at L-9 (from the guide the person gets here by dropping down out of the first map North Room (G-6)).
The two coffer spawns by the gravestones the bombs circle can actually be seen (but not accessed) from the hallways at G-8 for the West Room and G-7 for the North room.
**Mystery of the Switches Solved**
EDIT: My theory was wrong ;.; you only need access to one of the four switches to get everywhere in the Necropolis.
I've lost just under 6,000 XP in the Necroplis key and coffer hunting (but my net is only -1,700). Be prepared to loose XP and levels.
Went there 3 times now, total of 10 hours. I have yet to see 1 key drop. While DRG get can all their coffer and AF in a single night, PLD get to fight during weeks to get a dam single key...how fair is that ?
I'm not sure where the Hume bones camp is, but we had a decent camp.
To get to this camp, enter Eldieme Necropolis via the south-east entrance (the one used to get to the island). Pass through the first triggered door and take a left through the other triggered door. These doors are opened by switches and I heard that one person gets left behind when triggered. Don't know the details on them yet other than you have to have two people to get through. You will then enter a room with 9 squares which appear to be filled with bones and floating skeletons. Walk into the middle square and you will fall down onto a pair of liches. Proceed until you come to a landing mid-way up a set of stairs. A fallen knight and a lich both pace down near the landing, but no other adds will be found. If you cower in the corner of the landing, you won't take aggro.
The spawn is found at the top of the stairs. I'm not sure how many there were as I wasn't pulling, but we got chain #4s killing the undead in there. While this isn't a good spot to camp liches, they are here so you might get the papyrus drop while clearing the way for the tomb mages and tomb warriors.
Our first coffer key dropped within about 1 hour of near constant chains. Our group had a lv65 WHM, lv59 THF, lv55 PLD, and a lv53 WAR. Handled everything with ease. We had offers for help so our WHM went to guide the new members in. Somebody forgot sneak and all 5 members, all lv55+ were slaughtered including the lv65 WHM. The next two hours we had half of our linkshell coming (sometimes dying) and going trying to rescue everybody. Once we did finally get our 11 LS members back to camp, we destroyed everything in one huge slaughterfest. The next key dropped within about 30 minutes. Our group had too many jobs to list, but we did have a lv55 THF and a lv59 THF helping.
This coffer is worse than Paper from Lich! Camped for total of 8 hours now, nothing from Tomb Warriors and Tomb Mages. Someone in my LS said the bombs drop the coffer from time to time, but I'm not so sure, anybody know? (Highly likely it'll be just a chest key) Does moon phrase affect chances of dropping? Never heard that it does or it doesn't.
Well, I spent 8 straight hours camping tomb warriors, tomb mages and earth elementals (at the hume bones camp) yesterday without getting a single key to drop. How ridiculous. There's no call for this drop to be so bloody rare.
Tomb wolves only drop chest keys. Trust me, I have killed a LOT of Tomb wolves and I have spent a LOT of time camping this coffer key. If they dropped off of Tomb wolves, nobody would bother fighting the much stronger Tomb warriors/mages and Spriggans to get the key.
