i spent 40k on one of these things! I couldn't seem to find one anywhere! now i have 40k less in my pocket because of it. Consider yourself lucky if you can buy it in the AH for 20k~30k.
I just spent 40,000 gil on buying 10 green rocks and didn't get a single Peridot. I did get a few Jadeites though... they're worth crap. 49 goldsmithing skill.
dont see what tme of day ahs rever done with crafting but whatever.
basically what this is is a +1. whenever you are crafting an item you have a small chance at getting something better. for armor and weapons its the Item +1 but for things that dont you either get 2x more. like making 4 pots of silent oil rahter than 2, etc. and for the rest, you get the chance of getting a higher lvl item, in this case its a peridot. Wind crystal + green stone + high lvl craft = higher chance of getting a peridot rather than a torumaline. so this is why the jp guy said its a goldsmith skill of like 40 or whatever, because when you get above 30 your chance of getting a better item goes up quite a bit.
You should tell that to the person who said about the time of day, cause the original post says: "Depending on weather/day/moon/skill." NOT time of day.

You use a crytal on the day it's type defeats the day. I.e Lightning beats water, so you use lightning crytals on watersday, Light crystals on Darksday, etc.
I'm not saying this is fact. But I have read numorous sources wich all say the same thing. That you use the crystal on the day befor it's day and you have a better chance than if you use on the day of. Day of gives less of a chance than day befor. Other days less of a chance and so on. But they also say that using a crystal on it's weak day is a sure fire way to fail! The failing more on the weak day has been confirmed numorus times by myself and my friends.
It doesen't seem like it could require level 50, because it is an ingredient for level 51-60 crafting, and i dont think it ever happens that it takes the same level to make an ingredient such as this as to make the finished product (excluding level 1-5 things).
It's a high quality result. I've only gotten a HQ result ONCE when I was below the level cap. Being high above the cap, like 50 for a 20 item, will raise chances of getting HQ, which is why they said level 50.
I don't think it's that high -- it doesn't make sense. All the other items are crafted around LVL 20-22 skill -- doesn't make much sense that a Peridot would require such a high skill level. I could be wrong of course. When I get my Goldsmithing up to the 20 range, we'll just have to see how things work out.
Of course, if it is relatively easy to synth peridots it may make the prices for them drop. Who wouldn't want to turn a 1000-2000g stone into a 20,000g item? It'd be like transforming tin ingots into gold. :D
Maybe that's why nobody has come forward with the proper recipe -- I could afford the prices Leaping Boots or (god forbid) Strider Boots sell for at the Jeuno AH by making a bunch of peridots easily.
I saw a JP synthesize one near the AH in Bastok. I'm assuming, based on what it is, that it's a goldsmith recipe. When I asked the JP replied that he didn't speak english. Does anyone know or think they might know the recipe for Peridot?
Bah they lie!! ALL japanese start taking english from gradeschool up. and if they still dont speak english, perhaps they arent as smart as people make them out to be *wink*
I knew some kids in China that had been studying English for 7 years. I could barely understand them and they couldn't understand me. The elementary school kids could read English outloud very well, but forgot about trying to have a conversation with them :D
