The Rescue Drill

Mission OrdersWalkthroughBefore you can get this mission, you need to have obtained some crystals to boost your standing. The guard sends you to La Theine Plateau to receive some rescue training. To get there go to the sw corner of West Ronfaure and zone into La Theine Plateau. Go to E-6 and speak with the NPC (Galaihaurat) He can be found on you map under the Eastern tree of the three trees shown in E-6 grid of your map; he will point in the direction of the ravine. Go to the right side of the ravine and speak with the NPC there. Then follow the train south and talk to the soldiers you see there. They tell you that a soldier named Ruillont is lost in Ordelle Caves and give you directions on how to get there. Zone into Ordelle and Ruillont should be just to the left. He tells you that he lost his sword. Go back to the soldiers and get him a new one (random soldier has the sword). Trade it to Ruillont and go speak with Vicorpasse (outside the cave) to receive your "Rescue Training Certificate" (you must have the certificate to complete the quest). I did save the children completed it at lvl 10/war then I went back to get another mission I noticed that only save the children was listed again so I clicked on that one again. Lo and behold it IS a different mission that you have to go back to the hut and fight harder orcs, I managed to solo it with my lvl 10 war, Just make sure you equipment is up to date and you have protect on you and you should be fine. Afterwerds I went straight back and I was offered the next mission. Hope this helps some of you.

I can get the rescue drill mission but when I talk to the guy who needs a sword he doesn't even SAY anything about a sword! HELP! what am i doing wrong??

i have done the mission 3 but can't do mission 4 what is the problem?

I did the quest last night at Level 12, with a party of 6. Thus, its not necessary to be at level 15 for the quest.
After talking to Ruillont behind the rock, he asked for the sword. I talked to all the NPC's outside and none of them had it. After a while I decided to exit the crevice and go back up - I found another NPC, G something. He had the sword. He was a fair distance away from the crevice and was standing by a stone wall. So if none of the NPC's near the cave give you the sword, try this guy. After getting the sword, take it back to Ruillont and then you talk to Vicorpasse who gives you a certificate. Mission accomplished.

nope theres no min. lvl. I just took my lvl 9 thief solo, avoided the mobs and finished the mission...def no min. lvl.

maybe it has something to do with you have 5 others with you. The min level dto do it yourself is probably 15.

Yeah the only hard part of this whole quest is getting past those damn funguars, cause you have to get past them about 4 times, pretty hard cause my galka warrior is no stealthy ninja.

So, I got the mission, talked to EVERYONE in the ravine, went to Ruillont, he said if he had his sword, he could cut through those fiends single-handedly, and went out and talked to everyone in the ravine again. Nobody seems to have acknowledged that I ever went into the cave to see Ruillont at all, and thus, I get no sword from anybody.

I can't find that damn captain guy, if its the guy by the brick walls all he says now is "Did you lose the sword?". Which i gave to the guy in the cave behind the ice block, didn't get a certificat or anything, he refuses to do anything, the guy in the cave says to go see the captain which i can't find. Very frustrating after dieing 3 times.

Everytime I do this mission, I talk to the gaurd (that you all say he lost his sword) but the only that that happens is he puts "ointment" on me and my level is capped. Whats up with that?

i have the same problem. Its because of the squire test 2. i don't know if there is a way to give up that quest so the guy ask for the sword.

It's not from the squire test 2. It's from the ecowarrior quest. But that is the wrong guy anyway. You want to talk to Ruillont not the guy straight ahead. You need to follow the left wall as you enter ordelle's caves. Ruillont is hiding behind a stalagmite, you can barely see him.
The level restrictions are more guidelines than fixed in stone. I got the Save the Children mission at 8 (finished it at 9). Then talked to the guard and he only offered repeats.
So, traded a full stack of 12 crystals to the TK at the gate, and talked one more time to the guard. And got the Rescue Drill mission, at level nine.
I've only done 5 quests in San, so I doubt that's a factor. I have, however, done several supply missions (basically every time I run out the gate I grab one). When you complete the supply mission, the text says you are awarding Conquest points (100 points each run for the local outpost in my case). But perhaps there is an affect on rank too.

I managed to complete this mission at level 9, solo, but I recommend bringing friends or waiting till later. Getting to the guard NPCs is pretty easy, but there is a Poison Funguar in a narrow spot near the entrance to the cave. Agro, of course, and VT to a level 9.
I tried to run past him the first time and barely managed zoned into the cave before he kicked me to death. On the way out I again tried to sneak past and he kicked me right back to my home point ;) My second trip into the cave I waited for a passing band of adventurers to kill him heh.

Just a quick followup... one more stack of Earth crystals to the TK, and the guard gave me the next mission -- The Davoi Report -- at level 9. Looks like it's everything to do with rank points, and not level.

the crystal thing is misunderstood. Whenever you get a crystal from an enemy you get rank points. Very few though. I ended up getting it by doing the 1st mission until he gave me the 2-1 mission

You must trade the crystals with any T.K. guards that man the gates to up your rank points. Once the rank points are high enough, the new missions are offered.

i finished the first 3 missions and all my party were able to get the rescue drill but i couldent the gaurd wouldent give it to me all i see is the first 3 missions nothing new!

Give the guard at the town gate that gives you signet a stack (12) of cheap crystals (like earth) and you will probably get the next mission. Just check the guard again.

iv completed the save the children mission and the ones previuos to that obvoiusly, but the gate guards arents offering me another mission.

yeah somethinsg is wrong i cant get the mission .. it wont show up knowing ive done everything this mission requests

I have also had this happen.
You need rank 2-2.5 and fame point for this mission.
I did 20 quest and repeat "Smash The Orcish Scouts" 2 times and 6 times "Bat Hunt" to incears rank bar all the way up. Or you can give 12 any crystals to the gate Guard it also can help.

This NPC "Galaihaurat" at E6 will give you the sword. Watch out these "Poison Funguar" at the way down to the cave. These Fungar are level 16 and very very Poison. I been poisoned 120hp. Run away from them if you are below 18.

It should be noted that there's one soldier in the ravine you can't get to from the ravine; he's in the first deep crack on the cave enterance side of the ravine. It looks like the only way you can get to him is thru another exit of the Caves. If no one else gives you the sword, you may have to find the way to get to this guy. I was helping a friend with this mission, and he talked to every guard but this guy...No sword. I'd reccomend getting a map of the Caves if you find you need to do this...and be careful! There are some nasty gobs in the other passages of the caves.

Has your friend talked to the guy *all* the way at the top? The guy standing next to the brick walls who is visible from the path, that is. I've helped a number of people with this quest, and this person gave the sword once.

I was able to get this mission at level 10 with out the crystals..... I'm on it right now with a group... If we can accomplish it... that another story... Do quests and get fame. It helps todo quests as you level so that you dont have to stop and do them all at once to get the needed fame

I cant get this mission. i have crystals that they say i need. but im only level 12. does that matter?
I have found three people who will give you the sword. Deaufrain and Equesobillot on the way out of the ravine, and Galaihaurat whe is to the left of the revine on the map, in e6.

Just to let everyone know......I had to travel to the NPC all the way by the stone walls to get the sword. I had one other in my group as well and he was lucky enough to get it from one of the guys in the ravine.
