The Crystal Spring

Mission OrdersWalkthroughYou are asked to retrieve the crystal bass. You can get this by fishing in the Spring on the east end of Jugner Forest (J-9). Or you can usually purchase it at the bazaar. Bring him the fish and he sends you to San'Doria Castle to deliver it. This leads to a cut scene. Talk to one more NPC (Chalvatot (F-7)) and you are finished. Spoilers--Area Southern San d'Oria-- Endracion: Welcome back! I have an important mission for you this time. Recently, land is eroding due to crystal formation...and it's getting worse. Endracion: There's a small spring on the eastern edge of Jugner Forest, called Crystwater Spring. We must know what effect crystal formation has on the wildlife there. Endracion: I want you to get me a fish from the spring. And not just any fish! You need to get a crystal bass. Endracion: That is all. You'll take the mission then? Endracion: Ah, that reminds me--have you any fishing gear? You'll need some for this mission. Endracion: There are people about that know a thing or two about fishing, should you need help finding and choosing your gear. After getting your crystal bass. Endracion: Hello there. Now's not the time for missions; Chateau d'Oraguille has been visited by bandits! Endracion: You must make haste to Chateau d'Oraguille! Find Lady Curilla, general of the Temple Knights! --Area: Chateau d'Oraguille-- Halver: So, you're saying nothing was actually taken? Curilla: That is right, Lord Halver. I can see ransacking our treasure vaults, but the chambers of Leaute I d'Oraguille? What could they have been after? Halver: The chambers are as they were when the queen passed away. Might she have left something of importance? Curilla: Her jewelry all went untouched. It is possible that the thieves mistook the queen's chambers for another room. Halver: Hmm. However, it has come to my attention that a copy of the castle floor plans has been circulating outside the castle. Halver: If the thieves possess these floor plans, then perhaps they have motives other than just stealing treasure. Curilla: That may be true. But even with a copy of the castle floor plans, it would take a skilled thief indeed to hide from all the guards in the chateau. Curilla: And according to the gardener, our visitors were a party of two Elvaan... Shamonde: It has come to my attention that thieves have ransacked the queen's chambers. Inform me immediately of what was stolen! Halver: Please be at ease, Your Holiness. The Temple Knights have determined that the thieves stole nothing from the chateau. Shamonde: Preposterous! If so, why did the thieves ender in the first place? Maybe the queen had something hidden... Curilla: Pardon me, Your Holiness, but what do you mean by "something"? Shamonde: If I knew, I wouldn't be asking you! But thieves would not enter without a purpose! Halver: Of course, Your Holiness! I will order the Temple Knights to continue their investigation, and have them inform you if they find anything. Shamonde: I shall be waiting for your report. Hmph! Not even the Goddess Altana will forgive such a crime! Curilla: Hmm? It seems as if we have a visitor. Curilla: You were sent to stop the thieves? Well, as you can see, they have already escaped. Curilla: Considering we know nothing of the thieves, it would be futile to send out a search party. Curilla: However, an adventurer such as yourself would have connections in many places than we. Curilla: Inquire with the gardener. He is the only one who saw the thieves. He many tell you something of importance. Chalvatot: Ah, I know you. You're the adventurer ____. You want to know about the thieves that broke into the queen's chambers? Chalvatot: Well, I didn't see anything special. All I saw was two suspicious lookin' Elvaan. When I yelled at 'em, they ran off. That be all. Chalvatot: But I swear I seen me one before... The one with blue armor... Claidie: Chalvatot, what has happened in my mother's chambers? Claidie: When I went to give some water to the flowers, I pssed by some Temple Guards. Chalvatot: I am so sorry, Your Highness! Last night, some thieves broke into the late queen's chambers! Chalvatot: And to make matters worse, the scoundrels are still on the loose! Oh, what has become of the once mighty Chateau d'Oraguille? Claidie: I--I do not know what to say... Claidie: I knew something was wrong when I found mother's diary in a strange place... Chalvatot: Your Highness? You say you saw something out of the ordinary? Claidie: Chalvatot, something is amiss... Could you please come to my chambers later? Claidie: Farewell, Lady ____. May you find the thieves that disgraced our great kingdom.

After returning to Sandy, I talked to the gate guard and was told to go the chateau as it had been attacked by theives/bandits.
After arriving at the chateau I viewed a cutscene and was told about the missing chateau floor plans (but was NOT told to find them), and was told to talk to the only witness to the crime, which was the gardner. To find the gardner find the central courtyard. If I remember right it is easy to find, head toward the royal knight quarters, and continue down the corridor. From the central courtyard you can access the audience chamber, and the quarters of both princes (IF you have a mission or such for them otherwise the guards tell you to buzz off). There is also another guard guarding a flight of stairs down to the queens private (memorial) garden. There you will find the gardner. I only had to talk to him, watch another cutscene, and my mission was completed.
Incidently I tried to get the next mission (appointment to Jeuno) but when I talked to the gate guard I could only take the "infiltrate Davoi" or "crystal bass" missions. I traded a single stack of crystals to the T.K. guard and was able to choose the "appointment to Jeuno".

I didn't know this was skippable, and now I can't find a crystal bass to save my life.
None of the the AH's on Ramuh have one. . and I tried fishing and all I did was break lines and lose lures over and over again.
Is there any other way to get this blasted thing?

I was expecting to run into a Boggart or tiger,as yo do in Jugner,but i was not expecting that too happen.
I should have read this thread BEFORE acceting this mission and gave the guard a wad of cysyals too skip it.

1. Get the mission and trade fish
2. Cut screen tell me go into Chau
4. Get out tak to the guy give mission again
5. Tell me to Make Hast and see the Currila Lady General
6. Yes, talk to her nothing happen
7. Talk to the guy said "Bandit infiitraitn Chau unpreceding in history, make hast and see currila lady"
8. I am stuck now cannot complet mission 3-2

i went to do 3-2 again and i cant do that now /fume!!!
I went to this pond with a clothespole and insect pastes and spent about an hour or more fishing with nothing but rusty boots. i gave up, went back to sandy and bought the glass rod and the minnow lure, i went back to jugner, and on my first cast out, boom, crystal bass. that easy. I continued fishing and got a second one a few minutes later, cuz my friend needed one.
the glass rod and minnow lure are a very good combo for this mission.

anyway it then gave me a choice of two new ones, including a lvl 20 min mission which of course i took. so this goes to shoe that u do not necessarily have to even apply for every mission...
there actually is a quest called Blackmail that involves floor plans, but this is completely different, and is initiated from a shady character outside the castle.
after talking to the gardener...i was given my rank points for the crystal bass mission
Apparently, if you complete this, you can get another quest - where someone has raided the castle. I think that's what you're on. It is separate from the mission.
The crystal bass quest goes as follows:
1. talk to gate guard. get told to get Crystal Bass
2. Return and trade bass to Guard. Get told "This is no time for simple missions! The castle has been robbed. Go there immedeatly"
3. Go to castle. (cut scene) Get told of robbery, get told of stolen plans (Which is a story hook to other quests). Get told to find who robbed place - get told to talk to gardner
4. Talk to gardner (cut scene). Some back story filled in here - END OF MISSION

I have no fishing skill at all. i used the lure and rob listed below, and after about a half hour of fishing i caught it. (i did lost my catch about 5 times first, so try to be a bit patient.)
