Mission Orders

On the Star Sibyl's command, you are to head north to the ruins of Fei'Yin, somewhere on the Beaucedine Glacier. There, you are to confirm whether the final seal is doing its job.

Walkthrough

Speak to a gate guard to begin this mission. You are needed at Heavens Tower. Head upstairs to the Star Sibyl's Chambers for a cutscene. You will receive the key item: New Fei'Yin Seal. If you cannot receive the seal, make sure your rank points are full and try zoning out of the tower then go back to the chamber again. This quest cannot be completed without the seal!

When ready, head to Fei'Yin either by going through Ranguemont Pass, or by getting a Teleport-Vazhl if everyone in your party has the crystal. It is recommended you have a map or a printed map as Beaucedine Glacier can be a very confusing maze to navigate.

When you zone into Fei'Yin, you will get a cutscene. After the cutscene, head to (K-8), where you will find two dolls and a Cermet Gate on the east wall. Head to the gate to find Qu'bia Arena. Some mobs aggro to magic and many others aggro to sound, so it's recommended every party member bring their own Sneak Oil.

You have 15 minutes to defeat Archlich Taber'quoan and his minions, the Ancient Sorcerers and Ancient Warriors. Everyone must be on this mission or higher or they will not be able to enter the battlefield. Once you defeat the Archlich, the battle will end and you will receive a cutscene and a key item: Burnt Seal.

Return to the Star Sibyl to finish this mission.

Update Notes

As of February 14th, 2011, there is no longer a level cap restriction on the mission battlefield.

Battle Notes

Buffs cast outside the battle will wear off upon entering, so do it inside. The Ancient Warriors keep spawning, so focus on the Archlich. You only need to defeat him to win. The minions are easily slept.

Just did this today with:
Blm/Whm <-- me
Smn/Blm
Mnk/War
Whm/Blm
Rng/Nin
Thf/Nin

First Time:
We all run in and..........die. ; ;

Second Time:
Got go BC, buffed up with Earthen Ward/Aerial Armor/Protect/Shell. After we all jump in Mnk uses Fish Mithkabob, Rng & Thf use Sushi.

The Mnk ran in first and grabbed hate, voked the Archmage and goes to town on him. The Thf ran in next and managed to link a few of the minions, and began kiting them around the arena while me, the Rng and the Smn attacked the Archmage.

The Mnk and Smn then used their 2h with the Smn whipping out Ifrit and eating up about 60% of the Archmage's HP. I nuked with Fire/Stone2/Aero2 all while the Thf and the Minions ran laps around the Arena.

We got the Archmage down to about 10% when the Thf goes red, so Me the Smn and Rng nuke the hell out of it until it's dead. Yay.

All in all the second fight took up about 5 minutes of our time. The Mnk's Hp barely got into the Yellow with the Whm only focusing on him, while the rest of us got out with about half-hp left.

My party and I got chewed up and spit out by these skele's. Just goes to show what happens in a BCNM if you don't know what you're doing. Everyone figured just go full attack on the main bone. As soon as we entered everyone just rushed the mob without buffing or medding. So I as the main healer tried unsuccessfully to keep everyone alive.

This is an easy BCNM if done right (completed it on the second run). My recommeded party set-up?
3xmnk
1xwhm
1xblm
1xrdm

Rdm: keeps mages refreshed, and help heal. Use convert if necassary. Chainspell not needed.

Blm: takes care of other bones, uses Manafront when low on MP.

Whm: Heal.. what else?

3xmnk: use Hundred Fists and pound the hell out of the main mob.

This is how my second run went, and if you can get this set-up it is the funniest overkill you'll ever see.
Just to clear things up...

I got this mission when I was like pre-40, the only reason I haven't done it yet is because I want to be closer to the cap, to make things easier. The lvl alla has listed is 45, that is just a suggested lvl to make things easier on yourself. So don't worry about it, just trade crystals like mad and activate the mission =)
why can i not flag this quest?

WHM49/RDM24. rank points maxed out by trading crystals. full armor. but, Halver keeps telling me that i have to work on my skills and equipment??? what the hell is that? what should i do?
lvl 45?

Well...I just got the Mission with lvl 39 and I didn't trade any crystals!

And yes I got the Key Item "New Fey'in Seal"...
My experience
# Sep 27 2005 at 12:50 AM Rating: Good
Okay, first of all, just to clear up some confusion, only speak to Halver if you are San d'Orian. In Bastok the NPC is named Naji, and is in the Metalworks. Based on previous posts, it appears you speak to the Star Sibyl in Windurst. I talked to Halver five times, and no, I do not have a Mithra for your stupid prince. >< I did this last night, and as long as you have the Key Item "New Fei'Yin Seal" you're fine.

After doing this, I suggest bringing MNKs. And lots of them. Here's why:

PLD/WAR (me)
WHM/BLM
RDM/BLM
BLM/WHM
BLM/SMN
BRD/WHM

We couldn't find any MNKs, or even any other melees (we had a DRK d/c), but we thought two BLMs and a nuking RDM would be enough to keep the minions in check while I tanked the Archlich. Anyway, BRD entered the room before me and got hate from some of the skeles. Then the BRD and one of the BLMs had a tough time keeping the minions asleep/dead, so both BLMs and the RDM burned lots of MP on -ga spells to kill the minions. The BRD and RDM had trouble keeping Ballad/Refresh on everyone, and I can't say I blame them, it was fairly chaotic. The whole time I'm pretty much tanking Archlich solo, Cure III'ing myself while the other five ran around, the WHM did throw me a Cure III a couple times which I appreciated. ^^ I tried to throw a Provoke or Flash to another skele every now and then but they were fairly difficult to target. Anyway the nukers finally go for broke, 2-hour, and pummel Archlich. I keep hate on Archlich but the other skeles had done quite a bit of damage to the group. The BRD dies, everyone's low on MP, so I Invincible. WHM cures me, but then is out of MP, so she uses Benediction. She gets all of the skeles' hate and dies. The BLMs were attempting to heal while the RDM and I finish off Archlich. Thank God I don't have to do that again.
my strategy (nothing new but did the job!)

pld / rdm / whm / rng /rng / drg

zone in, armour check, buff/refresh

pld heads straight for archlich, full hate routine, keep him on you, stay alive.

others take out minions from left to right, then engage archlich with one rng assigned to take out pops as and when.

we didn't break any records (estimate around 8 minutes) but none of us were ever in danger. rangers 2 houred near the end to speed things up but it wasn't essential, no one else needed theirs.

basically it's a very straightforward fight if you keep the party disciplined.

For Windurst, this additional information applies:

Talk to your mission NPC. She will inform you that the issuance of all missions has been halted. Proceed to Heaven's Tower and go talk to the Star Sybil. You will receive the key item immediately after you talk to her.

When done, return to Jeuno to form a Party. The level cap is 50 so make sure your higher levels have level-50 gear equipped!

Alright, so I decided this morning that I wanted Rank 6 today... so I set out upon it... at about 2 I started getting a PT together...this guy was a pushover... My PT of 6 got the new record on Remora, weeeee... alright so here is the strat...

PT Setup:
PLD/WAR (Food: Bream Sushi)
MNK/WAR (Food: Sole Sushi)
WAR/NIN (Food: Sole Sushi)
BLM/WHM
WHM/BLM
RDM/BLM(me)(Food: Black Curry, Persikos au Lait)

What we did was got over to the Qu'bia Arena and got full healed outside of the BC then entered, WHM buffed, everone ate food, and I refreshed the WHM and got her back up to full MP, PLD went in First and provoked Archlich Taber'quoan, I went to work on the left mage skeleton while the MNK and WAR went on the right, WHM kept everyone cured, hasted, and happy, after the mages were dead I casted Diaga to gain the hate of all the Melee Skeletons and used my Persikos au Lait and ran in circles like I had 4 skeletons on my rear (oh wait I did). While I was doing that the MNK and WAR and BLM got to work on the Archlich, MNK and WAR 2hr'd and used weapon skills at their discretion, after that 30 seconds was up the Archlich was at about 20% hp I would guess, the PLD 2hr'd to take back hate and keep himself usefull as a meat shield. I had realized that when the whm cure III'ed me it took the hate of some of the skeletons, Diaga didn't take hate and so I used Waterga and accidentally killed every one of them (Go Dia!). Now the Archlich was at about 5% health and I had all this newely generated TP from kiting the crazy skeletons, so I ran up engaged it, used Fast Blade and it was over. In the end everyones HP was White or Yellow, (excluding the WHM [high orange] who took the hate of 2 melee skeletons that ran from the hall while I engaged the Archlich).

In the end, it was quick everyone enjoyed it, and I took the poor Paladin, who had to run from San d'Oria due to his lack of Teleport Crystals, over to Xarcabard to get his Vazhl Crystal.

~The End ^^
well....

Would like to make my comment on this as well. Our first attempt was nasty and the party set up was: PLD/WAR(me); PLD/WAR; RDM/BLM; WAR/NIN; THF/?; BST/WHM, all lvl 50. We lost cause we didnt take out the minion skeletons and casters cause we thought we could ignore them, was wrong. They hit really weak but caused interruptions for the 2PLD's, not allowing us to cure as good. Had the main skeleton down to maybe 1/10 hp and it finished us off. The AoE spell it does is its best attack.

Went a second time and replaced the RDM/BLM with a BLM/WHM and THF/? with a BRD/WHM. Now this time we were more prepared on what to do. I went in and got initial hate with 2hr and voke ignoring the 2 casters. Rest of party followed and took out the 2 casters. They are uber weak and will fall in a matter of seconds. I was able to tank the main skeleton for 30 seconds, obviously, with no damage. Once casters are out everyone ganged up on main Skeleton with the second PLD 2hr'ing and voking. The minions that came out are UBER WEAK!! I was able to take them out with 1 hit and we all know how weak PLDs are with Damage out put. I would recommend having one person designated to take the minions as they come out, EXTREMELY EASY! This time with no interruptions in casting, me and the other PLD was able cure correctly and we walked out with a victory.

I strongly suggest doing this as follow: Main tank go in and engage main skeleton. Rest of party follows taking out casters then move onto the main skeleton. One person designated to taking out minions during battle, one hit IS all it takes no joke and only come one at a time I think! You are allowed to buff and rest before entering battle. NO effects are removed! Beat the **** out of the main Skeleton after casters(first two guards you see in room) are out of picture and pick off the minions as they come, and they are UBER EASY! I would not suggest on ignoring the minions or using Horde Lalluby, takes up time and MP while instead you can kill the minions in one hit. Any melees that come I would bring a minimum of one High Potion, 2max. About 5k on Asura. Some Melon Juices are nice for an MP characters. ONLY Sneak is needed instead the castle thing and Sneak and Invisable is needed outside. Hope this helps and with a enough detail to assist. Good Luck!
Wiped!

I just did this run.... we got completely wiped! What annoyed me most of all is that I went as THF and we had a WAR and PLD in the party. And throughout the entire fight they stood side by side!!! Thats just great!!! I'm a THF. How the hell can I SATA?! Even when I asked for them in line nothing happened! :/

The sad thing is we are talking level 50+ people here. I cannot believe that the next run I have at this I'm gonna have to ask if they know the basic SATA set up. They will probably look at me as though I'm frikken insulting them!

OK... I understand that me being able to SATA is not the single most important factor in this fight and we might still have gotten wiped. (we had no MNK). But if we cannot get the basics pinned down then we haven't a hope in hell quite frankly!!!

I did this 4 times last night. 2 party wipes and 2 good runs. I believe key setup is having at least a PLD tank and MNK to DD.

First and second times we went in, party setup was PLD, BLM x2, RDM, WHM x2.

After the second wipe, we saw another party there doing 5-1 as well. No PLD in that party. I offered but they refused. 5 min later, they send a tell asking us to get ready for raise. This time we combine forces. My party borrowed the MNK because RDM left.

Third attempt was PLD, MNK, BLM x2, WHM x2. Still little tough, but we got through. Me and one of the WHM died though. Still a sucessful run.

Fourth attempt, PLD, MNK, RDM x2, THF x2. Same, little tough but we got through. No deaths.

On all attempts, I went in first as PLD to grab all the hate. All the smaller NM would focus on me as well. To keep the MNK alive since MNK grabs more hate than a PLD can, cover when available. Flash and holy circle as well once it turn to the MNK. Mobs don't hit hard, just that they pile up in numbers. Smaller NMs can be killed in about 2 circle blades. Don't focus on them becuase they seem to keep poping up. Having a WHM with raise2/3 is nice also.
Fun!

I had a pretty easy time with this one. We went in with RDMx2, MNK(me), PLD, and a WAR. We came in, ate food, and as the mages buffed up i boosted all I could. We ran in, I chi blasted the main mob, then the WAR voked. In the meantime the PLD attacked all the minions, used invincible, and kited them around with one of the RDM's following her the whole time. As soon as the other RDM dispelled the main mob I hit hundred fists and watched its HP drop like a rock (and tried not to laugh when I saw a PLD run by every 10 seconds being chased my a flock of skeles waving thier weapons). This method worked great though, and I would recommend it to anyone doing this mission.

On my 3rd run of this mission (yes, I am that bored), my setup was:

PLD
WHM
BLM
DRK
RDM
MNK <-- (Dat's me ^_^)

once we got into the BC, we did the usual buffs (protect, shell, food, etc), and began the fight. Me and the PLD ran in ahead of the rest and grabbed the Archlich's attention, and the RDM,BLM, and DRK kited/killed the small skeletons, and the WHM did the Whitemagey things they do. At about 3/4 HP, I use up my tp on a Raging Fists (about 550 dmg), and macro'd Hundred fists. Luckily, the Paralyze was being taken off religiously by the WHM and it wasn't kicking in very often, so I got to sit back and watch the Lich's HP plummet. afterwards, I had 256%tp, and I boost, 'zerked, and hit Raging fists again.
Then I looked at my damage. I blinked, looked again.

Kibeth uses Raging Fists.
Archlich Taber'quoan takes 1000 damage.

Needless to say, because all the links had been killed, the Archlich dropped about 20 seconds later. Exited the BC, and was notified that we had broken the previous record by about 5 seconds.
Just goes to show how well a good bone-mashing party can perform under the right conditions. ^_^

well heres a good advised stragedy. my pt was a rng, drg, rdm, whm, blm and nin. the rdm kited all the ancient warriors. he used phalanx and stoneskin and blink. wen his hp got real low the whm casted lots of cure spells on him and the anceint warrios quickly hated him. he kited the mobs for awhile. he onl had blink to secure his life points. wen his hp got low the rdm cured him insanely to get back hate and they continued doin this while the rng, drg,nin and blm beat up the main guy. the nin didnt require much healin but wen he did the blm occasionnaly spammed one. it worked quite well and we got out all alive and only 2 hours used were eagle eye and chain spell (and of course drg). and one last thyng must b said, u cant sleep these guys so dont try!!

ROFL, that's no doubt the funniest kiting strategy I've ever read. What you could have done was to have everyone spam AoE attacks non-stop (BLM -aga spells quite literally DESTROYS the minions).
Wiped out ><

I did mission just like an hour ago and first I had troble because RDM had a DRG friend that needed mission but didn't have Tele-Vahzl crystal so the ones with it teleported while RDM guided her friend from Sandy to there.

And our setup was
RDM/WHM
PLD/WAR
DRG/WAR ???
WHM/BLM
RDM/BLM
BLM/WHM

The OK PLD went in, tanked nice and DRG also started fighting, RDM and BLM nuking and I was refreshed, the problem was we panic'ed because more skeletons came in and started running in circles, the PLD became paralyzed and blinded and I had to cure but forgot refresh >< BLM died first then WHM then PLD, RDM, DRG and me (RDM/WHM).

That because we started casting -ga spells and didn't keep together and keep kasting those spells ><

This is the RDM/BLM, if you remember the name.

I've been thinking about it, and I think the reason we got wiped out wasn't because we were spamming -gas, really, it was because we couldn't keep hate control of the two sub-skeletons. I think if we would have had had the DRG provoke one of them and maybe had a mnk or even something lesser than that provoke the other one, while the PLD concentrated on keeping hate from the Archlich, the mages wouldn't have been running around like blinded chickens trying to not die. Then we could have all stood together and had the BLM or me throw a Stonega every once in awhile to kill off the minions without gaining hate from anything.

So, yeah, a MNK would've helped, along with provoking strategy from the melee. I admit in all the chaos it was hard for me to keep Refresh up on everyone so next time I do it, I'll remember more. But you have to admit, for running around wildly and having everyone in the orange for the majority of the fight, we did pretty good considering we got the Archlich under 1/8 health and no one died until he was at maybe 1/4 health.
Easy Fight

Did this fight yesterday with a war/mnk tank, sam, whm, rdm, 2 x blm. Tank went in first and got hate. Followed by sam. Then mages came in and started nuking the crap out of the main one. Stayed back far enough to avoid AOEs and didn't cast any ourselves. Main boss went down easily. Warrior used two hour at 1/4 health and I 2 houred since I ran out of mp(i was blm). No problem. Focus on the main guy and nail him hard and you won't have a problem. At the small guys and you might have problems. As long as they're all focused on the tank you won't have to worry. Just have a healer who knows how to keep someone alive.

Did this mission yesterday with LS
5 members
PLD
DRK >> Me
BLM
WHM
RDM
We let PLD fight first for a couple of minutes to build up hate and grab attention of small skeltons. Then we all joined in and it was pretty straight forward, I took hate near the end and was tanking in the end but was only hitting me for 30-50 points of dmg (kitted up in Mythril Armour) Took about 5-10 mins was good fun >>> Souleater Vorpal Scythe 367 points of dmg =P

The guide says that you need to TRADE the seal to th e BC. But when I talked to Halver he only gave me a KEY ITEM so that is untradeable. And to get the key item, I did not need full rank points, just the 1/3 bar that you get for completing rank 5.

I finished this fight not 10 minutes ago, we had a GREAT outcome... setup was BLM, RDM, PLD, BRD, WHM, SMN. No, MNK wasn't nescesarry.
The BLM spammed Aeroga II when the minions came in, I (the RDM) just kept everyone refreshed, tanked a Sorceror, and backup healed. The PLD of course tanked the main one, the BRD was singing refresh, NOT sleepga, the WHM healed, and the SMN Astral Flowed with Ifrit on the main one 3 times. I disconnected when Taber'Quoan was at about 1/4 HP but I made it back JUST in time so that I finished the mission; we ALL were still in white HP. VERY easy with a good party.

I tried this yesterday, BLM RDM MNK MNK PLD THF... we got it to about 1/4 HP but then it roffled us and we all had to HP.
