Summary

Follow the "gang whereabouts note" to find the two remaining members of Atarefaunet's band of thieves. Hand each one of them a "counterfeit envelope" and have them sign the forged documents inside.

Walkthrough

Start this quest by talking to Nanaa Mihgo at J-3 in Windurst Woods. After a cutscene, you will receive three key items: Gang Whereabouts Note, First Forged Envelope and Second Forged Envelope.

Then, talk to Nanaa Mihgo's henchmithra, Cha Lebagta and Bopa Greso, who are just south at J-4. They will tell you to go find some thieves.

Part I: Sauromugue Champaign

Find the first thief atop a tower in Sauromugue Champaign.

To reach the thief, you must first find and kill a notorious monster at the base of one of six towers. To find the NM, search for a ??? at the base of a tower at G-6, G/H-8, I/J-7, J/K-8, K-9 or I-10 (the final point can only be reached by traveling through Banishing Gate no.3 inside Garlaige Citadel). Examine the ??? and the NM, Climbpix Highrise, will appear. Kill the NM to obtain a Grapnel.

Next, go to the tower at I/J7 and remove all of your gear. Then, trade your Grapnel to the ??? for a cutscene to get your first letter signed.

Part II: Gambling with Goblins

Head to Lower Jeuno and talk to Sniggnix in the back hallway of Muckvix's Junk Shop. The goblin will challenge you to a game of dice. Continue playing until you beat him. Sniggnix then asks you to travel to Dangruf Wadi to gamble against the Dangruf Trio for the Regal Die.

Head to Dangruf Wadi, and bring a Rock Salt, Gausebit Grass and Lizard Eggs. You will need to trade these items to each member of the Dangruf Trio to gamble with them.

The Dangruf Trio is scattered at three locations in the zone. You must beat them in a dice game with 50/50 odds, all in row. If you lose, you must try again to beat all three of them, and you will need to get new items to trade to them.

They are at:

Saltvix

  • Item: Rock Salt (drops from Wadi Crab)
  • Directions: Trade the Rock Salt to the ??? at the eastern part of F-7

Grasswix

  • Item: Gaussbit Grass (drops from Wadi Hare)
  • Directions: Trade the Gaussbit Grass to the ??? at F-4, near the entrance to the tunnel.

Eggblix

  • Item: Lizard Egg (drops from Steam Lizard)
  • Directions: You will first need to go through a false wall at F-11/G-11. There is a hole right before a cermet door in this hallway. Drop down the hole and head south. In the corner right before you will be a ???. Trade your Lizard Egg to it and hope you win.

After you defeat the Dangruf Trio in their dice games, it's time to get serious with their sister, Gambilox Wanderling. Head to J-3 of Dangruf Wadi and exit into Drachenfall Ravine in North Gustaberg. Stay on the south side of the river and head towards the waterfall. Near the base of the waterfall is another ???. Examine the ??? and Gambilox Wanderling spawns. Kill the goblin and examine the ??? again for a cutscene and your Regal Die.

Return to Lower Jeuno and trade your Regal Die to Sniggnix to get your second letter signed.

Conclusion

Now head back to Windurst Woods and speak to Nanaa Mihgo for a cutscene and your Rogue's Bonnet.

i asked LS for some help with this this thinking it was gonna still be a challenge as THF60/NIN30,
LS friends said yes who where BLM/RDM MNK/NIN DRK/???,

got my Grapnel in treasure meant to cast lot but am so used to passing i hmm........ passed >< WTF,

i was like im such a nub,
we all laughed but inside it hurt lmao,

then along comes a whm 75 and pops him on the same ??? wins it in a nice time for solo ^^ enough for us to heal bear in mind we didnt get hit all that much,

so we go to find the ??? again while building TP on the way it was my idea as i just wasted enough time for every1 /sigh i pop Climbpix Highrise a second time,

pretty much have full TP as a PTY, and im sorry Climbpix Highrise you didnt even use Pefect Dodge this time did you?

Why does Thief need INT??
Hmmm
# Oct 14 2008 at 5:22 PM Rating: Decent
Some of the Dagger Weapons skills use INT as a mod. So if you wanted to use Cyclone WS, the INT will boost the dammage because it is a magic based attack (Wind Magic based), it is also rumored that INT effects Steal and Mug, but there's no direct evadince to this.
My fights:
# Sep 04 2007 at 8:48 PM Rating: Decent
Climbpix Highrise: killed with a 75Pld/War and 51Thf easy.
Gambilox Wanderling: Killed as a 75War/Nin and 75Rdm/Drk easy.

For amusement the Rdm chainspelled stun. We didnt need it but it was definitely funny as hell.

The hardest part of the quest is getting to the fights.

that job rocks... everythings easy with it... just a lot of finger work >.<
Was easy
# Feb 03 2007 at 11:43 AM Rating: Decent
This was pretty easy, solo'd both NM as a 75 pld/rdm, i would say that Climbpix Highrise was easier than Gambilox Wanderling, because the evasion on Climbpix didnt bother me, lost about 100-150 hp total. Gambilox was abit harder, lost around 300 hp, wouldve been less if i didnt try to recast Stoneskin when it started to spam goblin rush when it was about to die.

Fought nm today as 75 pal/nin wasn't sure if you had to be a thf to pop nm or not, but no you don't. Too help you guys out finding the towers it's the little black dots on your map. What I did is I took a choc and started with the one closest to Merripataud Mountain zone K-9, then went to K-8 (nm pop for me), and follow that course back to jueno before venturing to the one in J-10. If your having a problem getting a pt to get past Gate Breach keep doing search at that area threw the day one day and when you see a lot of people that means rocs tod hit. The following day wait till roc tod hit and go there. Follow a group of people to tower and you ask or do /say see if anyone willing too help. Since it will take them about 1 min. I'm pretty sure somebody willing too help. Well Gl hope this help out. Other then that the direction on this quest is awesome. Gl everyone
lol, fun fight

Since most of us were kinda bored last night we decided to make this a mini ls event haha. For the drachen falls NM we had a 61 drg, 59nin(mysel) 2 75rdm, 65mnk and a 50thf(whose quest it was). I kid you not NM went down in 30 seconds flat it was hilarious, we were all like 'wtf?'. However the notes about being a TP ***** are correct, even in those 30 seconds he bombed us twice and rushed once.

Now for the sauramague(sp) NM, We went with 50thf(his quest), 65mnk, 75 rdm, 70+whm and 59nin(myself) we had the unfortunate luck of getting the tower that was through garlaige. One amusing note is passing through the 3rd gate the thf agrod a bunch of stuff (3 fallen officer, 3 jellies and 2 bats haha) So after killing nearly every mob past the third gate we got outside to the tower and spawned the NM. This guy was interesting, he definately has a lot of evasion but nothing totally agravatting. Some nukers are nice for this fight with a solid tank as well as you will miss a lot regardless of lvl(myself and the rdm were tanks). Not much to worry about here, the only thing going for this NM is its evasion, he did hit a little harder than the other one but not by much and doesnt have much tp gain (much longer fight, like a couple min and only used bomb once and rush once
owned!

I just beat Gambilox Wanderling with a 73drk and 55whm, and me 54thf. The first time around it was just me and the drk...he died and I fled to find a raise and a healer. With the healer it was a cake walk.

I beat the third gambler 311-607. I lost to the first one 3 times then won the next 3...go figure.

I'm fairly certain that, when you win the third goblin's dice roll, you always win by 1. Helped a friend with the quest, and he won by 1. Tanked as a 68rdm/nin. Kinda rough, but won nonetheless.

I just solo'd Gambilox as a 65 THF. Yes, I know, why the hell do I not have the hat alread? I've been lazy and the hat doesn't really do much for me, I've been concentrating on XPing and NM hunting. So I finally decided to do it.

Sleep bolts don't work, so that hurt.

My first try I had a hard time of it, equipped my Signal Earring to summon my NPC during the fight. She immediately cast Cure III on me, and two more before she died to the bomb AOEs. I should have TA+DE onto her before she died. Oh well. NM took me down to 22 HP as I has hitting Flee to zone. I took away 75% of the NM's life before I had to ditch.

I ran back, cast utsusemi and waited out the time for recast to come back up and hit the ??? to try again, this time with the one strategy: spam Bloody Bolts and use and Acid Bolt before every DE.

Gambilox came out, I hit her with an Acid then used DE for 418 damage (the rest of the fight I did no less than 395 and a max of 587), then started in with the Bloddy bolts (I later forgot about the Acid and concenctrated on Bloody bolts to keep me alive). Each bomb only did 41 damage to me each time, so it was really only an issue of avoiding the regular hits and the Goblin Rush. The Rush is the killer because it'll take all of the Shadows away each time.

When the NM used Mighty Strikes I was gonna use Perfect Dodge to cancel it out, but decided not to. I'm glad I didn't, because not once ... not once did she ever hit me during her 2hr. I did use one or two Blind bolts on her during that time. Later, I had just cast Utsusemi when she did a Rush, cancelling it, then did 2 more for 180 damage total. I used Perfect Dodge to wait out my time for the next blink and spammed more bloody bolts and DE.

When I had a little less than half my life left, I'd say 450 HP, Gambilox was living her last moments. Then she started spamming Goblin Rush again. I ended the battle with 127 life left.

My LS was telling me I was nuts to try, but I felt safe since I had a Warp Cudgel and Perfect Dodge, as well as the option to Flee to the nearby zone.

I'm glad I did!

BTW, I had lots of evasion gear on, totalling +29 evasion. I hit probably 90% of my bolts.
Just my luck...

The tower spawning the NM changes over time so if you don't feel like going through Garlaige Citadel (I didn't) then you can come back at another time and try the towers again. I checked all the towers you can easily access with no NM pop so I came back again twice for 2 more checks. 3rd time I popped the NM at the tower near the Dancing Weapons.
Wow...
