Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Moon Orb, which is obtained by trading 60 Beastmen's Seals to Shami at (H-8) in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Moon Orb to the Burning Circle inside Qu'Bia Arena and choose to enter the battle Brothers D'Aurphe.

Up to 6 people may enter and you will all receive a level 60 restriction. You have 30 minutes to win. You will fight 4 Shadow NMs:

Strategies

Recommended party setup is 2 BLMs, 2 RNGs, RDM, and a tank. Ninja and Paladin are probably best. It is VERY important to keep the mobs clustered close together for sleep. Elemental seal/Sleepga II at the start and just keep these things slept! BLMs should focus only on sleeping. Having a Ninja tank is good because then your Red Mage hopefully won't run out of MP.

Silence and kill the BLM first because the -ga spells he casts will annihilate your party. Then kill the Ranger, followed by Thief, and then Warrior. Once you get the BLM out of the way, it's way easier and once the ranger is dead, its cake. (especially with two blms) We tried a bard instead of a second blm and it was a disaster!

Above all else, DO NOT FIGHT THIS BCNM ON DARKSDAY!!!! If you do not heed this advice, you will fail miserably. The problem with Darkdsay is they just get too strong and they start resisting Sleep (funny enough sleep is dark element though). I went as BLM and my Elemental seal + Sleepga II stuck for all of 20 seconds after which the RDM and BRD couldn't sleep and neither could I. So we three died, followed by the rest of our party and we had to homepoint. >.<

Does anyone know the average gil this one can drop? I dunno whether to do this or risk my orb to try for a KC in Up in Arms.

Never mind, just went and did it. Lost miserably, went 1/4, and only because the BLMs saved our asses with Manafont. The single win dropped Hume M boots though, gave em' to our Sam since he needed them.

Did this with LS yesterday

for 2 Runs setup was
BLM/WHM Leonidus
BLM/RDM Miyara
NIN/WAR Somoz
SAM/WAR Svayn
MNK/WAR Zanen
RDM/BLM Seif

NOTE: These mobs are no longer Shadow type, they have been changed to Fomor type. not once in the 7 runs we did, did i see Demonsional Death (the only shadow TP move), but i did see several Dancing Chains (AoE Choke), several Carnal Incense (reduce TP to 0), Forfire (Cone blow back), and that weird move were a cresent comes at your from at a 45° angle.

This leads me to believe that PLDs could tank this now. though i would hate to see them eat EES. Maybe with PLD tank you could flip up the order to be BLM > WAR > THF > RNG so EES hit last

Strat was as follows
Leonidus opened the fight with ES sleepga 2 on the third mob from the left( i think it was the THF) either way Sleepga2 on THF or WAR will result in all mobs slept

the melee would zerg (attack with everything) on the BLM 1st while RDM would Silence him.

When the BLM got down to about 20% the mobs would need to be reslept by the other BLM (which didnt have Sleepga II >_<) after which the 2BLMs and teh RDM would try to stick sleep 2 on either the THF or the WAR, cause the RNG was next anyway sleep would last that last 20%

RNG is easy enough if he doesnt break through NIN shadows, if he does its nothing a few stun's cant fix. meanwhile the RDM gravitied both the THF and the WAR as tryin to land sleep 3x in a row doenst work well with these mobs.

If the THF and WAR woke up before the RNG was dead teh BLMs and RDM would kite using stun and Bind to keep distance. Its important for the BLMs not to nuke RNG till he uses EES less you want them to die.

Once the RNG was down it is easy pickins. Melee's would go for WAR as it lives less cause it cant perfect dodge like the THF. having 3 ppl able to kite one mob is ez.

After WAR was down they took THF. BLMs saved Flare till it PDed.

I would say never give up, this BCNM gives you 30mins to win. several times we had 1-2 people die and still won. One time we had only 2 people alive but were able to kite and raise everyone. And one time the MNK traded his orb b4 the THF was in the zone so we went with 5 and still won. This BCNM is not tough as long as people know what they are doing.

After the 2nd run teh SAM had to go.
So we got a THF/NIN from our LS named Mooner.
BLM/WHM Leonidus
BLM/RDM Miyara
NIN/WAR Somoz
THF/NIN Mooner
MNK/WAR Zanen
RDM/BLM Seif

Same thing as before cept they would open each fight with a SATA while the mob was asleep.

we also figured out that BLMs can pretty safely nuke the mobs with Aero 3 and Fire 2 wihtout getting hate. just becareful of waking mobs and EES as it did 2000+ to the MNK.

Nothing dropped over 200k but we all had fun.

One death due to an oopsie Eagle Eye Shot. I would say you could win with anything as long as you have 2x BLM, RDM, and NIN, then two DD.

Drops kind of sucked, after everything we ended up with:

Mithra RSE2 feet x2
Hume M RSE2 feet x1
Taru M Feet x1
Taru F Feet x1
Flare x3
Gold Ingot x3
Mythril Ingot x1
Assorted shiny stones x6
Valor Minuet IV x1
some other stuff that I can't remember

Point being, no Ebow or CCs, but we're gonna try again when I get 60 more seals ^^

We just did this w/ a RDM BLM (w/o Sleepga II >.<;) NIN WHM DRK THF

The 1st run = wipe
The 2nd run = drops: Elvaan Female Feet, Green Rock, Gold Ingot, and Flare Scroll
The 3rd run = wipe
The 4th run = wipe (KEEP silence on the blm! lol)

The strat:
2 ppl kite (rdm and thf)
@ start blm ES + Sleepga (;_;) and then everyone goes to work.
blm keeps thf slept, rdm and thf kite war and rng while nin and drk abuse the blm.
So if done correctly you can do it with this pt setup, but you must keep the blm silenced. Must, must, must, must, must keep the blm slept.

Our 1st try we tried to sleep them all and take them 1 by 1 like normal strat and the 3rd run we wiped because of unsilenced blm. But the 2nd run went very smoothly with this strat.

Just did this with some friends. This was our first time doing this, none of my members have ever tried this but we won 6 in a row with no lost.

our set up was:
nin
nin
rng or sam
rdm
rdm
whm

cant loose with this set up
2 rdm start the fight with sleepga
melee kill the blm 1st while whm ES silence the blm

our order to kill was:
blm > rng > war > thf

Our last fight dropped the Mithra RSE boot worth 16million Gil on Fenrir... our samurai got the drop... damn lucky him ..

Just need to watch out for EES. This BCNM must be one of the easiest one I have ever tried. Good luck ^^

So... Combining that with the RDM using Sleepga, it kind of makes me curious. Maybe you were looking at a Bazaar cost and mistaked BLM for a RDM.

Could a WAR/NIN 60 maybe replace one of the RNG??
pld is just not good for this
# Aug 17 2005 at 8:24 AM Rating: Decent
I tryed this 1 a couple days go with this setup
rdm <me>
pld
blm
blm
thf
rng
failed badly could not make it pass the rng
these thing do a def down attack that landed on the pld both time causeing the rng to hit for around 250 dmg.
so you going to need a nin tank to suck up dmg
or if you do with pally switch thf or rdm with rdm and maybe put a smn as dd as well.

We got a mini static for this one, 3 blms rdm, rng, and nin

First blm ES sleepga II's all 4

Keep the blm silenced! ga spells will kill you all.

Take out the blm as fast as you can, when the other 3 wake up, 2nd blm try to sleep the rest, or even just the war, and thf. It will be easy because the ranger will stay back and shoot you while the other 2 charge the 1st blm.

Take out the Ranger, we figured out that its best to kite this one, because EES is almost instant death for anyone that doesnt have blink up. Gravity and bind are your best friends against this guy.

By this time, you might have some early wakeups from the war and thf, while the rng is still being kited. Thats when the 3rd blm es + sleepga II's them back into slumberland. The rng should be almost dead, so tell your blms to finish him off quickly. Rdm es + Sleep II's the warrior when he wakes up and Ninja goes back to tanking the Theif

The rest should go smoothly, and if you have a good setup your mages should still have a nice amount of mp to handle them with. If things get hairy. Kite the last two till your first blm's ES is back up, and have him/her sleep one or two of the shadows.

This is a good bcnm to do, b/c a piece of RSE drops each time you go through , along with other nice drops like Flare and Reraise II.

There may be times when things like Dimensional Death get through to your ninja, have some blms takke the time to stun the shadow the ninja is tanking periodically to help him out.

Good luck to all!

Strategy Question

I'm curious about the number of HP each of these things has. I'm always fond of using SC's to kill things, and I'm curious if it would be possible to waste these in real short order by having a BLM burst AM on them? Ideally it would be Flare, but Burst should also do a significant amount of damage. The party makeup I'm hoping to try this with is BLM, BRD, RDM, PLD, RNG, SAM (maybe.. not sure about last spot). Basic strategy would be the same; BLM goes in and ES + Sleepga II's everything. Take on BLM first. Melee get about 90% TP, and BLM starts Flare burst. In theory that (along with the pitifull RDM Fire II Burst and a nice Fire Threnody from the BRD) should be enough to one-shot the rest of the Shadows health. From then on, BLM just rests, getting up only for the next Burst (between RDM and BRD, there shouldn't be too much crowd control trouble. I can generally deal with CC of 3 mobs at once if I have to). Any thoughts as to whether this would work? Does the TP reset move generally go off too much for anyone other than RNG to reliably get TP? Alternately, could try and replace the BRD with a second BLM and have them trade off AM bursts while the other rests... Honestly, I'm really just looking for an excuse to have BLM's burst AM since it can be effective, but no one ever wants to. But only if it's a potentially usefull strategy for the BCNM.

That is all

Ok. I'm a Samurai. Anyone think a Sam/Rng with some Ranged Acc+ gear could fill in for a Ranger/Ninja? Or is Utsusemi a must have? Because I really don't feel like leveling up my Ninja and my Ranger just so I can get some Marine Boots for my Samurai. Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense.

I'd really like to do this so some opinions would be appreciated. Although, I'll probably end up trying it any whether you ppl want me to or not. ^_^
RE: Sam/Rng
# Mar 08 2006 at 8:59 AM Rating: Decent
i doubt it.

1) Ranger is a huge powerhouse at 55 with sidewinder. Out parse any job with good equips. Sidewinder would lose a lot of accuracy when subbed, because of missing out on another one of the physical acc boosts.

2) the ranged attacks allow the ranger to stop attacking quick, so they don't attack the mob when its trying to be slept. They can just stand in the back with the mages.

I was wondering if anyone has tried a Manaburn party for this BCNM? BRD sings ballad on the BLMs, then the bard sleeps them and the BLMs single out each target with 5 AMs. I'm thinking of trying this with my ex-manaburn static and I'll post my results.

Bard Sleep (lullaby) will NOT successfully land, and if it does, be prepared for partial resists (shortened sleep duration)

BLM Sleepga II is your best bet.
RE: Manaburn?
# Jul 27 2005 at 7:24 PM Rating: Decent
You'd have to have the BLM's sleep them. Since the strategy above says the BLM's only have to worry about sleeping, and they replaced a BLM with a BRD, my guess is that they woke up and the BRD tried to sleep and failed. I bet you could with your ex-static, just have the BLM's do the sleeping, keep Ballad up, and do the AM's like you said.

Did 6 runs on this, beat all 6 easily(cept maybe for 1st one). Party was BLM, RNGx2, NIN, RDM, SMN. I walked in a ES+ Sleepga II all the mobs with no resists ever. BLM would die first and wouldnt get to cast any spell; mobs woke up when BLM was about to die so me and RDM would kite the WAR and THF around, with Bind, Stun and Gravity its amazingly easy to do so. RNG died no prob, and WAR and THF dropped really fast. On the 6 runs we got both Hume feet, both Elvaan, Galka and Taru male feet.
SMN had no problem keeping ppl healed up and the RNGs and NIN were doing their job wonderfully well.
Btw, we beat 5 of the 6 BCs on darksday, so that story about them being unsleepable on that day aint true.Heck, i was even able to get the WAR asleep for about 20 secs with Sleep II(no ES). All my magic skills were capped, equip was BLM AF and the regular stuff.

Just got done doing this about 3 hours ago. Some linkshell mates had decided about a week ago to try this out, but one of them cancelled his account the other day so wasn't able to make the runs we attempted tonight. He would have been a RNG/NIN, but I replaced him as a THF/NIN, which left a few in our party a bit worried about how the fights would go.

A THIEF you say? Ah yes, I can hear the min-maxers weeping now... but do not lose hope my fellow thieves!

Our party was:

NIN/WAR
RNG/NIN
RDM/BLM
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
THF/NIN

We had 3 orbs, and we had 3 successes. The only people who died were our four lovely undead elvaan brothers! Our NIN/WAR was a bit sceptical of how well I would play a role in the fight... afterwards, he was very impressed!

Our strategy was very similar to the others presented here. I preloaded SATA, and used Hide (for flexibility of initial positioning w/ the NIN/WAR). After I was set, the first BLM ran in and ES+Sleepga II @ start. NIN & I move in tandom, slam the BLM shadow with the SATA, and we rip into him.

For the most part, we were able to gain TP at an alarming rate, so the 0TP AoE move only effected the NIN & I at most twice per fight, while the RNG was out of range and using holy bolts (which was adding a crazy amount of light damage since the mobs are shadows). We also started the first fight right as it hit nighttime to take advantage of the Nighttime-reliant stats on the NIN AF (Evasion +10 = <3 ). The mages did an amazing job of crowd control, as I was oblivious to their incredible team work and effort while I ran back and forth doing TA off the NIN, and solo SA (or SA+DE if I had the TP & the SA timer was up).

Sufficed to say, I'm glad it worked out so well, team work is key...and I'm glad we didn't have our RDM come as his RNG... his enfeebles were incredibly helpful, and refresh was an absolute must.

We had 2/3 good runs...my orb had a pooey RSE2 drop, but thats ok, since we're spliting the profits from them all. We'll each hopefully have about 800-900k ( EACH! <3 ) once all of the items are sold. We were never in any danger, and everyone did a great job.

Until next time... :3

Hello BCNMers ^^

I did this today with the recomended setup
BLMx2 RNGx2 NIN(myself) and RDM

~~The info you care about~~

3 runs, 1 win : 2 losses, the win netted one pair of River M Boots for hume males, a gold ignot and mythril ignot and a brd scroll worth 100k. The boots are very very rare to be listed on AH, they jump about 500k every 2 sales, which is about a month time. Last sale 3.5mill listed at 4M sild in 3-4 hours after some shouts letting ppl know a pair had been listed.

~~Followed by info you may or may not care about~~

Having read the experiences of the posters b
efore me with getting sleep to stick, I chose
level 75 BLMs to be sure their enfeble would be capped once de-lvved to 60. We spoke about the strategy and reminded each other of all the tools we had at our disposal to keep the mobs under control.
2x shadowbind, 3x sleep2, 2x sleepga2, 3xbind, 2x gravity, 3 sleep, 2 sleepga. That is alot of options, and you will need them all. And you will need good good mages to coordinate and not cast over one another.

We made 3 runs. The first run was my orb and after elemental seal sleepga 2 i engage the BLM, the BLM promtly cast sleepga on us. Luckily i woke without being hit, and some of the members still coming into the arena woke the others. As the blm mobs hp diwindled with the rng doing their thing 1-2 of the slept mobs woke and another sleepga2 was fired of by out other blm in pt. The BLM mob died and i took on the RNG mob. Again random mobs would wake and they would be slept or gravity and kited by themages until the other mage could sleep it. The
RNG mob was about at 10% hp when one of the other two mobs resisted sleep and we had one of our BLM members die. One mob asleap, the other being kited, we kill the rng. It took a voke and then spamming a full round of ninjitsu to get hate, the rdm and blm we able to keep the final mob under control, though they found their way into yellow HP, as i did. But the rngs and I took the last mobs down one at a time while the 2 living mages controled the non-engaged mob.

Chest spawns and I get River M Gaiters, gold ignot
mythril ignot and a bard song i cont say i remeber, it was lvl 63 and worth 100k though. I didnt know the price of the boots. I just knew they all ranged from 600k to 4M (4M for the elvan male ones) I had the LS do a price check, last sale 3.5 M, none on ah for 15 days. I am estatic obviously ^^.

The second run and third run unfortunatly were failures. In one after killing the BLM i engaged the RNG and going from Ni->Ichi i got cought with a melee attack followed by a mean TP attack, both non misses the melee removing my last ni shadow and the tp attack inturupting my Ichi cast, i took 2 more hits trying to get ichi up and died. He hits for around 300 melee and ranged, not to accurate but you can get unlucky if he TPs you at the wrong time. Some members die some escape, it sucks.

Third run another loss, the BLM in pt who died the first fight and also died the scond fight died yet again and i cont remeber the details but it was basicaly more of the same, mobs waking and killing in 3 hits. We tried to continue on with 5/6 but the RNG mob dimentional deathed me for about 700 and i died.

The blb who died all three times was lvl 75 and was close to delvl from eating R1s and understandably didnt want to risk more attempts. We decided to call it a day.

All i can say is i think everyone did a good job from what i could tell (I had my hands full watching my own tail lol). The bottom line is, this is a hard BCNM, and the AH history if proof enough of this. 1-2 sales of any RSE2 feet a month and the prices rise and rise. I was able to sell my boots for 4M, 500k over AH (none in stock of course) in about 10-15 shouts over the course of 5-6hours.

Maybe we could have been better, maybe there is an order to sleeping things that minimizes resistage build up (for instance going from sleepga to sleepga 2 vs the other way), but i think losing 1/2 the time can be expected. Im would love to hear some idead on making it easier though.
If we had been on a "pool the loot, sell, share profit" system we would call this a success. 4M split between the 3 orb users is a great day in my book.

I guess that is what my only real advice is, other than have blms with capped enfeeble. Do this with people you can do a "share the loot system" with. There are no bad drops, 1 in 8 chance of getting a pair of crappy RSE the no one likes for 100k, but other than that everything is 1-4M on my server and from what i gather, a pair of boots is garunteed. The catch is dying it amzingly easy to do. Do 6 runs, dont fret when you fail half the runs, sell your 3 pair of boots for 5-12 million and split it evenly and call it a success.

Hope this was helpful. ^^

Strategy Guide 101

Hi all heres the strategy guide:

Party setup:-

PLD/WAR or NIN/WAR
RDM/BLM
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN

Kill order:-

1 - Maldaramet B D'Aurphe
2 - Jeumouque B D'Aurphe
3 - Disfaurit B D'Aurphe
4 - Vaicoliaux B D'Aurphe

Fight guide:-

1 - Best food and best gear you can get let RDM Protect III and Shell III entire Party.

2 - BLM No.1 enters and elemental seals + sleepga II the shadows.

3 - PLD and RNGs go to work on Maldaramet. RNGS are to keep their distance to avoid the melee AOE and the TP -> 0 AOE, make an equalateral triangle with the pld. RDM silence and BLMs stun etc.

4 - When shadows wake (proably around the same time maldaramet dies) BLM No.2 elemental seals + sleepga II.

5 - PLD and RNGs go to work on Jeumouque this time when shadows wake RDM elemental seals + sleep II Vaicoliaux.

6 - Kill Disfaurit

7 - Kill Vaicoliaux

Job summeries:-

RNGs DD
PLD/NIN Tank
RDM silence, refresh, 3rd sleeper, gravity, bind and healing
BLMs sleepgas, stun and healing

Important notes :-

1 - Do not fight on Darksday

2 - If things get ugly blms spam sleeps, rngs shadowbind and rdm spam binds and gravity

3 - If I've missed something you guys know your jobs so just cause i havent mentioned it doesn't mean you cant do it

4 - BLMs don't bother nuking save your MP for sleeps these guys are uber at resisting

Good Luck everyone

Not easy!

This is not an easy BCNM at all we tried with all, in my estimation, good players. party setup was
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
RDM/WHM
PLD/WAR

we did the standard thing entered and elemental seal+sleepga II
our Planned kill order was BLM -> RNG -> THF -> WAR
which is btw-
1 - Maldaramet B D'Aurphe
2 - Jeumouque B D'Aurphe
3 - Disfaurit B D'Aurphe
4 - Vaicoliaux B D'Aurphe

anyway the sleepga II sticked pretty easy and we kill blm no problems, the mobs wake and 2nd blm elemental seal and sleepgas them too, again it was fine, now we have the rng mob down to 30%hp and the mobs wake up again! but this time sleep just wont stick our blms literally use all their mp spamming sleep and they resisted like crazy. we even killed the rng but our mages were in a very bad state by that time. anyway needless to say we lost so just letting ppl know even if you kill the blm and rng it still isn't that easy, maybe you can be lucky and have sleep stick a third time but for us there was no luck just party deathga. anyway hope some of y info helps future attempts
Ciao ciao

The problem would have been easilly avoided if the RDM subbed blm. Usually i prefer when a rdm subs (convert works much better with divine seal), but here the extra elemental seal + Sleep II would have been enough to keep the thf asleep long enough for the RNG to die. This would have left some hurting (but alive) blms, a slept THF mob, and the party fighting the War. just my 2 cents.
Failure, but learned some things.

Tried this twice. BlmX2, War/nin, Thf/nin, Pld/war, whm. First time was a disaster, rng resisted ES+sleepga2, we got tore apart quickly.

2nd time we anticipated the ranger resisting, and the thf sneak attacked him and ran down the hallway (w/ strider boots, but flee could work also) blinking away his ranged attacks. The other 5 worked on the blm, and when the thf came back with the ranger, the next sleepga2 stuck on him. We finished off the blm, started on the rng, but the whm ran out of mp, then died, and couldn't do much after reraising. As we killed the ranger, the whm and one blm died as the other two mobs awoke and resisted sleepga2X2. After that, even just against the war and thf mobs, we didn't have enough to win. However we learned that the rng is sleep resistant (but not proof), the mobs will resist more as the fight goes on, and kiting can be successful. A nin at nighttime with Af boots could probably kite the rng mob indefinitely.
Drops each battle?

Can anybody who's been successful tell me what
your drops were on each battle? Assuming you
did multiple attempts, or what you got on the
one time you did it.

Will at least 1 pair of RSE2 boots drop each
time? Or can you get skunked or have more than
one drop in a single battle?

Marine M's have shot up to over 3M while all the
others haven't been touched by inflation. These
went from 1.3M to 3M in less than 2 weeks.

Gogo greedy bastards ><
Ninja tanking this
# Feb 06 2005 at 1:22 PM Rating: Decent
Although i agree that ninja tanks are much better for BCNMs (im a pld) most ninjas need thfs to keep hate, and in BCNMs most people seem to go kinda crazy on fighting.. so a rng is gonna let lose and take all the hate from the ninja, so the rng will probably end up tanking it seems, i wouldnt know ive never done this one so fill me in on this please guys, id like to know how much of piddly **** i am =P

It is definately worth it if you want uber gear. On Titan, both the hume and mithra versions of these boots go for over 1.2 million and quickly rising... I checked the AH everyday for a month, 3 times a day, sometimes more for my mithra RSE 2 boots, and no luck, because they're a pretty rare drop. I was tired of searching for them so I gathered a few friends together to get them myself. If you're a mithra mage...these are worth an arm and a leg to you ;p
