Description
Located on the far northeast corner of Beaucedine Glacier, the entrance of Fei'Yin is almost always hidden by persistent blizzards of the harsh frozen northlands. This large ruin -- which closely resembles the architecture of Delkfutt's Tower -- was believed to have once been a large city of the Ancients. Now it is completely empty, except for the numerous monsters that roam its halls and chambers.
Points of Interest
- Qu'Bia Arena is at K-8 on the first map.
- The notorious monster Capricious Cassie spawns in the big room around G-6 on the second map.
- Miser Murphy spawns at the fountain at H-8 on the first map when a Red Mage with the quest Peace for the Spirit - RDM AF3 enters the zone.
- Dabotz's Ghost spawns at F-5 on the second map when the fountain is inspected by a beastmaster with the quest Scattered Into Shadow - BST AF2 active.
- Altedour I Tavnazia spawns at J-10 on the top map when a Tavnazia Bell is traded to the ??? by a white mage with the quest Pieuje's Decision - WHM AF3 active.

I am currently working on the quest for teleport vahzl. i have the Fei'Yin chest key dropped by the shadows but i need to find the chest. i was told that there are 9 different spawn points for this chest. first i would like to know if this is true. second if it is true can someone help me out with the locations(exact coordinates would be best of course but anything will do). please help me out. thank you.

Check out http://www.ffxi-maps.com/feiyin.htm it has all the spawn points listed there for the chest, and there's actually 13 spawn points. XD
3 of them you have to follow a path through the second map to get to. Annoying, really, but the odds are in your favour of not having to traverse the second map, thankfully. ;p

God...i so need the map for Fei'yin....Im gonna start this mission as soon as i turn 50 ^.^
I'm, sorry to ask, but where/how do you get the map of Fei'yin? Or is it granted when you get a map of a differant area?
I'm sorry to ask this, but I read almost all of the comments and such and none gave info on how to give the map.
So any input at all would greatly appreciated.

The top map, the top right dot witht he japanese text is the entrance. There is a door there that can be opened without any special keys or prerequisites. After you complete whatever BCNM u need there, you exit it the bottom right dot with the ***. text. The exit is one way.

well looking at the map A and B are ways to second floor the Xs are coffer or tresure chests on top map the wording to left-center is the bcnm area and on second map in the top right hand corner is the closter of ice, sorry i dont know other 2 but i think the thing on second map to left is a NM
Partly correct.
The X's are where debris is blocking the path, not chests. It makes it so you can't get to that part from the first floor, have to go below.
The A&B part is correct, but you can't get to B from the frist floor.
The 2 on the right are for the BC. Top one is where you eneter. Lower one is where you are kicked out to after the fight. This is also where mission 5-1 takes place.
The thing on the left on the second map is the NPC for the WarpII quest.

It should be also noted you walk over the rubble in the x's, but only one way; towards the entrance. Basically, this is useful to people who want to check all the chest spawn locations, without having to run all the way back downstairs to get to the map entrance.

so your good ? how many high levels did you have go with you? had to have a party of 5 others capped @ 50 to be able to do that

I'm finding that to get "Smudge on One's Record" you might need Windy Lvl 4 fame. I'm from Sandy, I've done Glyph Hanger; Early Bird...; Chasing Tales quests and still can't get "Smudge...". So I'm running around whacking crawlers to raise my fame lvl to 4.

I got the quest with Windy lvl 4, but not right away. It seems to be Windy lvl 4.5 or something. I had done some aditional repeatable quests, but my fame is still lvl 4, and I got the quest.
Someone asked long ago to post a map of this place. Well, here is a list of several maps. Some are not complete and seeing that the second area is not on the list the next time I go here I will get some screenshots and submit them both here. I couldn't find the treasure chest map though. If I do I will update this post with the link.

ALright last night we tryed for over 5 hours to get 3 key drop's. In that time we got 1 key drop and never saw a chest pop in any of the locations.
heck we had a great weapon skill up party going but no chest.

Any idea how long it takes for the chest to re-spawn?

Yeah, I believe it's a 30 minute respawn. I was camping the spawns last night because I needed to pop a chest for the Teleport-Vahzl quest. This RDM messaged me to inform me he opened one 10-20 minutes ago and next thing I know, 10-20 minutes more I found a chest and get it.
I'm actually tempted to say they despawn, though I'm not exactly sure. When I was killing shadows these with a WAR/NIN friend, we found a chest. At the time I had no key, and we kept going through rooms killing shadows until I finally got one. By the time we got back to where it was, it was gone. Not sure if someone popped it or not, but not a lot of people seem to ever be in Fei'Yin, and if they are, usually they're 75s hanging out on the Western Side.

Thats interesting.... Im so lucky. I find the chest in Fei Yin, open it, kill the first Ore Golum I see, and get another key :)

Where do you zone in to the Cloister of Frost?
I've had a problem getting to the western area of the map where the underworld bats and such dwell: it appears to be blocked off from all entry from the normal entrance to fei'yin, and i can't find any way around it. Is there another entrance for Fei'Yin besides Beaucedine Glacier @ J-4? Information would be most helpful.
And the way to get to the west side of the map is down and around, by first going down the stairs at G-9 on the first map.

Untrue Ore golem aggro to sight,
Not being from windy and only doing a couple quests this blows. I tried last night to get the quest but no dice, i got the first one he gives but the chump wont hook me up.
Anyone have a guage on the fame you need, I think im at level 2 or 3 fame in windy and really hope I dont need to do quests like I had to go through for the utsesemi scroll...

You must have completed Early Bird Catches The Bookworm and the Chasing Tales quests before you can get the A Smudge on One's Record activated. I had level 4 Windy fame at the time of doing these quests back to back to back.
Wait a tic, I hae to do a Windy mission before I can get this map? That can't be true.

There's also Beaudencine Glacier that connects to Fei'yin.
There are no other dungeons inside this dungeon, unless you consider the cement doors on the walls dungeons.
The only monster that aggros to magic, that i've seen, are the Elementals.
The monsters that DO aggro are only by sound, with the exception of the golems (ore golem and collossus), which aggro by sight.

Magic pots, Dolls, and Weapons are in this zone and will aggro to magic.
Most mobs in this zone seek by sound and blood.
That being undead, and bats.
Shadow's are the rare undead type that will link and do aggro to blood and sound. so be careful of that.
mob levels at the door are 40-45.
mob levels beyond that are 50-60.
Don't forget the golems also agro magic along with sight.
