Nosteau Herring
this fish sucks to skill on...at least at lvl 32 in qufim off the cliffs. I had no problem catching em - got 24 but not a single skill up. Moved over to Jugner forest for crystal bass and got a skill within 10 casts. Bass got me to 35 nicely though it did require catching about 108 fish for the 3 lvls.
Good luck and avoid this fish in my opinion.

I used to do ok fishing in Battalia Downs, getting about even numbers of Herring, Cobalt Jellyfish, and Tiger Cod. Level 15 fishing with full set of fishing gear equipped, Mithran rod, using either a Shrimp lure or Sardine balls for bait. But since the first of April, Goblin Bounty Hunters have been super aggro on my lvl 45 RDM. And they are Too Weak!
When I tried fishing in Port Jeuno, I got jellyfish, cod, rusty buckets, and a copper ring, NO herring. GRRRRR

I personally like using the Mithran/Shrimp Lure combo. Since this is a saltwater fish, you'll fish up rusty items which can break Mithran/Carbon rods. With a shrimp lure you eliminate the chance of wasting bait on cobalt jellyfish, but you'll get black sole bites.
As for sale NPCs, The fishing guild carries A LOT of fish and when they run out, they are out of stock for a week or a few hours or something (not sure on restock time). Same goes for all guilds.

No Herring at the cooking guild either, none in Selbina or on the boat to Mhara. Looks like the AH is the only place to get them now. (sigh)

I just came from Babubu's hut in Port Windhurst. There is NO listing for Nosterau Herring. So if she carried it before - she has discontinued the line.

Well, each synth of Pickled Herring yields 4, meaning you only need 1 Nosteau Herring to make 4 Pickled Herring. That evens out the price.

I caught a nosteau herring on my way back to sandy no history(applicable entries) I don't know how much they sell for, Please reply i would appreciate it.

I've seen 8 stacks in the Windurst AH,
prices are going for 3.8-4k a stack, sells back very slow...each day a few or less
single herring are 300g each, none in stock
