Has anyone tested whether the HQ (wizard cookies) give more of a Plantoid Killer effect (i.e. monster is intimidated more often by HQ than NQ)?
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 30 2005 at 3:43 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Its funny how they can figure its 5 mp while healing when your base mp regeneration fluctuates so its really undecisive on how much mana you actually truly regenerate so why doesnt ppl grow a brain and just state the strengths of mana regen like they do with protect and shell! =(

Its very easy to see how much Hmp you get.
First tick its 10mp, next 11, 12, 13 etc.
When it goes 15, 21, 27 etc then its +5 hmp.

Closer, but still wrong.

Base MP regen is +12 MP while healing. Your first tick will give you that much every time. With a ginger cookie, for example, the first tick will give you +17 MP while healing. And then after that, each tick gives 1 extra MP. So +12, +13, +14, +15, etc. Then with the cookie, it's +17, +18, +19, +20, etc. That's why it's so useful.

Also, Clear mind increases the base MP regen. Clear mind I increases it to +15 on the first tick, then II is +18, then III is +21. I'm not sure but I think the last clear mind increases the amount of MP you gain in ticks to 2 MP, so you would go +21, +23, +25, +27, etc.

Just eat a cookie and watch your mp. The difference between the numbers every tick is your mp per tick. /facepalm

Since some days neither Kopopo nor Ness sell them anymore...
Windy is at 3rd place atm, but I thought they always sell them, especially because Kopopo belongs to the guild.

I will check this after the Conquest Update today

Just buy them from Valeriano. He's part of the traveling minstrels that go to whichever country is 1st in conquest. Sells ginger cookies for 11 gil I think.

Cookies or Mushrooms?

So which would be better, a ginger cookie or a roast mushroom? (if price per item not being an issue)

Personally as a 61 WHM, I prefer Ginger Cookies over Roast Mushrooms. Max MP and MND make no difference before you have Cure V because MND is only useful when your cure is uncapped as in the case of Cuve V, and when you're exping going for chains, you don't have a chance to heal for max MP. Ginger cookies help you recover MP fast in the short time you have to heal.

Yeah i think these do as well was in yhoater cookies save my WHM @$$ had 30 HP left and intimitaded the mandy before it could kill me and PLD grabed hate off me.
RE: also adds plant killer?
# Jul 30 2005 at 1:18 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, i think it does at plantoid. I was fighting mandy's in yhutunga as my pld and popped one of these and said it was intimidated by my presence. So it must add something along that line.

It might. I was on BLM, just got up from resting, and fought a Mandragora...which had a "The Mandragora is intimidated by Richelle's prescence." Also, the food effect was on the whole battle, so it very well could add a Plant Killer effect. /shrug.

yes.

personally, i use brain stews (dex+5 int+5 mnd+5, mp/hp regen while healing+3) for my 66rdm...works nicely
Ninja Food?
# Feb 23 2005 at 12:56 PM Rating: Decent
This might also be a good food for ninjas to eat when fighting beetles and crawlers. I'd still recomend Jack-O-Lanterns for mandys though. Killer effects act just like paralyze and paralyze is one of ninjas best friends.

I have a L30 ninja atm I'll give it a shot @ E. Altepa see if its any better than Jack-O-Lanters for those training grounds.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 11 2005 at 4:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) jack-o-lanterns is actually a terrible food for nins... yes it has eva+ but dont forget it has -CHR which is enimity... which is your hate ><'

Please watch out you're ignorance has shown. CHR helps in the holding hate process. The higher the CHR the better a tank can hold hate. CHR such a great stat like MND it is very under-rated.

CHR does not, as you said help in the Hate Holding Process. CHR can effect Light based job abilities like Provoke (but not by very much). You really wouldn't notice it that much tho, unlike say charm where it has a quite noticible difference.

So overall CHR relation to Hate generation is basically so weak it's almost worth forgetting about.

I guess this little cookie gives beastmaster's killer traits.
While leveling my BLM in south gustasberg I was using those quite often.
And I had Vulture is intimidated by Torlan's presence twice and Rock Lizard is intimidated by Torlan's presence once.
I read in forum plants are intimidated too. So I guess it gives BST traits.
Dunno about undead/arcana/dragon/demon killer traits - haven't tested :)

Just heard about the 'MP recovery while healing +5' from these. I had almost a stack from my Dream Hat +1. Was giving lots of them out for fun, thinking they must be useless, but apparently not. Tried them out today while XPing and it was real nice. Good macro:

/equip body "Seer's Tunic"
/item "Ginger Cookie" <me>
/wait 3
/heal

Equip Seer's Tunic is in there cuz I use my Divine Breastplate during a fight. I like to tank sometimes. ;D

Can't wait for lvl 51. Auto-Refresh + Dark Staff on top of the tunic and cookies = 0 downtime.

Just tested this yesterday, i accidentally found the vendor, and thought i would give it a shot.

It does indeed give MP+5 while resting. Seeing that first tick for 24 MP (i am WHM39) was godly :D One cookie is enough to replenish my MP tank in about 3 minutes.

This might just become my XP food when i am in a tight spot money-wise. Mushrooms are 6k a stack (12), whereas this is barely over 1k (99).

Second best cookie I ever had. It does give the plantiod killer and the MP while resting +5. This cookie use to only be +10 MP. I think its much better now. They have also made it so its by the name of the cookie that makes it better. Going by alphabete anyways. (like pet food, Alpha is weakest pet food Zeta is best).

I was trying these out in Yhoator Jungle as WHM one day, and accidentally took aggro, only to see:
"The Yhoator Mandragora is intimidated by Plight's presence."
My whole party was like "OMGWTF?!?!" . . . It was fun XD I decided to try this again while leveling BST (11 at the time) against some Strolling Saplings. And again, it worked occasionally, so I can definitely confirm the Plantoid Killer effect. (b^_^)b

This item no longer gives maximum mp +10 (I'm not sure it ever did.) It now gives base mana recovered while healing +1, and lasts either 3 or 5 minutes. There are no other effects that I know about.
