WalkthroughSwitchstix can upgrade degraded weapons if you bring him the things he wants. The first upgrade will require:
The Ito is a drop from Dynamis - Bastok or Dynamis - Beaucedine. The Relic Steel is either crafted (97 Smithing skill) or bought with 24 Lungo-Nango Jadeshellss from a Goblin NPC in Castle Oztroja. Trade all four items and payment in Silverpieces to Switchstix and he will upgrade it to a Hayatemaru. You will need to wait one game day. The second upgrade will require:
He will upgrade the Hayatemaru to the Oboromaru. This will take about 1 week Earth time. The third upgrade will require: Fee: One Hundred Byne Bill x60 The Attestation drops in Dynamis - Beaucedine. Trade these two items to Switchstix and he will make upgrade it to the Totsukanotsurugi. The Totsukanotsuruji will allow you to use the special weapon skill Tachi: Kaiten, but only in Dynamis areas. This will take exactly 82 hours from when it was traded. The fourth upgrade will require:
Fee: Ranperre Goldpiece x1 The Divine Fragment is obtained from fighting the Animated Tachi in Dynamis - Xarcabard. Trade The Totsukanotsurugi, the Divine Fragment, the Necropsyche, and the currency to the ??? at the Hot Springs in Horlais Peak to receive a cutscene, your Amanomurakumo, and 30 Montiont Silverpieces. That "You will need to wait one game day." for the Hayatemaru upgrade is wrong, when i did it, it was actually way longer than one game day.

true Quadraxis...but what i was askin was if i have to give him 6 1000 byne bills or if i could give him 5 1000 byne bills, and then 10 100 byne bills. cuz i know some npcs would do something like take only a 1000 byne bill, but would not take 10 100 byne bills. anyway, this question birthed from my inexperience of stacking currency...like, when u stack 10 100 byne bills, do u get 1 1000 byne bill or will it say 100 byne billX10? so basically, i was hoping to avoid having to get exactly 6 1000 byne bills if i could avoid it...eh w/e

There are no "1000" peices. Just singles, 100's and 10,000's. If you trade him less than 100 100's he will give you some crappy item(in comparison to the currency lost) thats used to upgrade.
The exchanges on currency go like this
100 singles -> 1 100 piece
100 100's -> 1 10,000 piece
1 10,000 piece -> 100 100's
The gobs that do this are nation specific

anyone know how many of these exist on all servers? and also, i heard that 6000 1 byne bills will be needed for one of the upgrades. does that mean i need 6k of these? or can i mix match 100 byne bills and 1000 byne bills?

I think the 4th upgrade you need a Shard of necropsyche dropped off Vanguard Dragon in Dynamis-Xarcabard
...will be in my hands someday.

They are trying to sell currency for 50k per single unit and 5mil per 100 unit. Well I guess Relic weapons will become harder to get if you plan on buying currency from these FOOLS.
For the first Ito upgrade, you need a Siren's Macrame rather than a Siren's Hair. The Siren's Hair is an ingredient for the Siren's Macrame though.

There's still Fees associated with the 3rd and 4th upgrade, but no one knows them yet, so they aren't posted. They are each a lot higher in worth than the previous upgrades, in total costing over 80-120 million gil. Be aware of this before you start upgrading your weapon!

3rd upgrade is between 6200 and 6400 of the 3rd currency (whichever isn't used for the first two upgrades). The third upgrade is 30,000 pieces but I don't know of which currency. If I had to guess it's 10k of each.
I saw the details for the 3rd upgrade in a japanese currency seller's bazaar and it was confirmed by an NA RDM on my server in the process of upgrading the 2nd form 1H sword.

I know more or less how to get all of the items required apart from the divine fragment. Does anyone know how it is obtained? Dynamis Xarca drop? Mysterytour just says:

each place has some special item at the end which is obtained from different areas so this 1s is prob Horlais Peak

The Montiont Silverpieces are rare drops from Dynamis - San D'Oria. If you trade 100 Ordelle Bronzepieces to the NPC goblin in Davoi, he'll give you 1 Montiont Silverpiece. It sucks, but it's true. The trick is to get as many as you can and never give up.
I have friends that don't have any problem at all about the money.. the lack of items are their problem.. -.-;;

You are correct. The Siren's Macrane is made by 2x Siren's Hair + 2x Gold Thread + 1 earth crystal. It's requires a super high clothcraft skill to make this. It is capped at level 91.

I'm a 48SAM/24WAR and i have no idea what Tachi: Kaiten unless thats another name for Tachi: Kasha O.o can someone help me out here

Just reading this seems extreamly hard has any one done this and is it a new quest all together b/c of CoP

Fully upgraded relic weapons are among the most difficult items to get in the game. Getting the relic weapons themselves is quite easy, as they drop frequently in Dynamis. Most of the materials are relatively inexpensive. The problem is the currency you need to upgrade the weapon, which drops rarely and is in high demand. Every 100 of a currency will cost you about 700k-1mil.
Not including material costs (which vary per server) this weapon will cost you around 16 million gil.

Some JPs players finished their relic weapon upgrade, but not many.
Also this quest is not really a quest (it will never show in your quest log) and was there when they added Dynamis, thus have nothing to do with CoP.
