SummaryA piece of artifact gear lays hidden in a coffer in Davoi. DescriptionBefore starting this quest, you must first activate the quest Borghertz's Sorcerous Hands. You must also have completed The Three Magi - BLM AF1. Head into Davoi or Monastic Cavern and begin killing orcs to get a coffer key. The keys are dropped by Orcish Farkillers, Orcish Dreadnoughts, Orcish Champions and Orcish Dragoons. Next, head into Monastic Cavern to find a treasure coffer. The coffers appear at I-7, H-7, H-8, G-8 and H-9. Trade your key to the coffer to receive your Chaos Flanchard. You must be a dark knight when you open the coffer.

Curious here, this guide says you need to have completed BLM AF quest.. wtf? Im going to assume thats just wrong. As its noting to do with it... Right?

this guide is ????ING S#!t I've done all it says and I got 8,6k gil from coffer!!!! I lost 5h cause of that, DONT USE THIS S#!TY GUIDE!!!

Do you *have* to have the Hands quest started before you open coffer or can you just open coffer? When I went to grab my DRG AF legs from Quicksand coffer, I didn't start any hands quest and still got my AF piece.
in the past hr my party and i have gotten 2 keys 5 curse wands and an *** load of fire crystals, this drop is really random and in my opninion pure luck. we got mine on a watersday right after killing that orc in the hut.

This one was the easiest for me to get. I'm a lvl 58 DRK and I have a lvl 70 DRK friend who needed another Testemony for Maat fight (about his 5th one...lol) so I tagged along and we supprisingly had 5 coffer key drops...I got the first key and my friend took me to find the coffer which took literally a minute to find, I opened it, and then went back and helped him get his test and got a second coffer key in the process. I was amazed at how simple this was

Where abouts in Davoi (aproximate position) should a group setup camp to hunt for the coffer key?
Ive always camped right by the zone from monastic cavern on davoi's island. There are plenty of mobs that drop right there, but if u run out zone into the cavern and kill the couple right there. The drop is not that bad in my experience if you have a thf with you. Ended up 3 coffer keys and 1 drg testimony (what i was there for) in a couple hours camping there.
Yup, i've spent over 15 hours camping this fun little thing. Evil, nasty, horrbible drop that bloody key is.
Anyway, seen 2 keys drop the total time I was there and I had to pass the first time cause she had formed the party and I was 'second' which never happened that night.
The next time we went full alliance cause some ppl need Brd af from the ghost in monastatic, which was cake and solo'd by a 75 rdm/nin in some fantastic gear as he's the leader of an HNM LS >.>
One key drop that time also, and I lost the lot. That group slowly dwindled after hours about 1-2 at a time, and i'm still without me damn af pants >.<
I suppose I get ****** luck now since I got my OZ key on first mob and Eldieme in about 45 minutes. Then later that morning proceeding to find both coffers.
Damn my luck ^^;;

Do I have to complete the gloves to be able to get these from coffer? I've completed scythe though.. And I've started the quest for gloves
You're set, all you need to do is open the gloves quest, you don't have to actually complete it. I actually got my lvl 58 body piece before finishing my gloves. Still need this one. Evil Davoi, scaring everyone away. >.<

I finished all AFs ex this part. Spent 5hs with JP for 4 keys. Open the coffer, optain 11520 gil.
= = now how I get my AF pant?
PS: maybe because I already done my head AF. But then why they lets me do this quest and dont let me do legs part AF anymore? Stupid SE >.<!!!

i dont know if this helps or not but. you cant be in a party when you open the coffer otherwise it will give you gil and everyone else gil also.
Odds are you weren't as a DRK main when you opened the coffer. You have to be on the main job in order to get the AF for that job.
Being in a party or not doesn't matter, if you have the quest activated (hands quest started), then you can open the coffer and get your AF. In a party, it will say "So-n-so opens the chest. So-n-so obtains Super-awesome-AF" It doesn't go to the loot pool.

I found out that if you zone into Beaudeaux that it has something to do with the quest. I found this out while doing the map quest where you save the two guys from the Quadavs.
I got the Beaudeaux scene as well, but it has to do with the Chaos Burgeonet head item, not this AF piece

AF5 where you have to kill a quad and get mage blood. Then you have to go somewhere to kill the scythe weapon.

i tried talking to guslam today and all he kept saying was "you found the guantlets..., etc." Do i need to wait until 56 to get the quest or what because im confused.
It means you have to start the Chaos Gauntlet quest in order to get this.
Easy, easy coffer to find. Horrible, horrible key drop.
We were on the "1 key every 4 hours" drop cycle. It got so bad, that we kept sending in the thief to try and botch a coffer and trigger a mimic. At least then we'd get a guaranteed coffer key drop =P.
Then the damned level 50 elvaan thief proceeded to pick 3 consecutive coffers using thief tools, all without botching once. I think I botched 3 in a row as a 52 mithra thief. >.<

The key also drops from Orcish Dragoons and Orcish Champions. Key can drop both in Davoi and Monastatic Cavern, but coffer is only found in Monastatic Cavern. Very easy coffer to find. Champions suck though.
