Labyrinth Lizards deep within Crawler's Nest also drop these pretty fast, along with Tails and Eggs. A good viable alternative for high levels if the Maze Lizards are being overhunted by farmers.
Does anyone have any idea how much these go for on Unicorn? I quit for a little less than a year, and am going to reinstall the game this Summer. Just curious about how my server's doing.
Depends on your level. Assume you were high 60's, go downstairs on northern map in the Nest, you rarely have any competition. I used to get 2 -3 stacks an hour easily. Or whites in the Jungles... overlooking the deep chasm, there are more whites than you can count and they respawn quickly, so it's just kill, kill, kill (toss eggs), kill, kill...
I have had decent luck farming Hill Lizards in the dunes. The drop rate is still low, but better than lizards in the highlands or Gustaberg from personal experience. If you farm in the dunes, make sure to farm near the western most part of the map in order to avoid taking lizards from people leveling at the eastern end.
Lizzy skin and sheep leather are both at about 22k to 26k on siren right now.. Just cost me 100k for 4 stacks of these... i was stupid enough to buy them >.< Framing only from now on
Crawler's Nest is by far the best place to get these skins in my experience. With TH1, Ive been getting almost 1 skin/mob and sometimes 2. They also drop lots of Lizard Eggs too(3k/stack on Sylph) I have gotten up to 3 eggs from 1 lizzy.Just a tip to those in Leathercraft. ^.~
Been farming these in Valkurm for a day now...I dont have my Thf sub yet, but I get a drop about 1/5 fights...I think its worth it...these skins sell 17k a stack on Asura.
in MidgradSormr, these and sheepleather stacks fetch 13,000-20,000. 800-1300 a lizard skin, 1,000-1,750 a sheep leather. Needless to say, i spent 300,000 like nothing, and for the past 2 days i dominated the lizards for the skins, and crafted and did my beach-to-beach selling in Valk. Made off with 28,000 more gil than i started with and rose to lvl 17 (leather craft) Dhamel time.
I just finished farming 32 stacks of these things expecting 10k each stack as usual. Well I just got back and checked to AH to find they're 8k/stack now! I put mine up at 9500 though, there's no way i'm losing 20% of about 24 hours of work. Damn, why don't people realize the stupidity of undercutting, its not like lizzy skins are THAT much of a hot commodity.
The opposite of this is everyone complaining about the high price of goods. People who undercut create fair trade and keep the economy in check, otherwise inflation runs rampant, and things get out of hand (much like we see going on most worlds now). I always undercut everything I sell for 2 reasons, one, I don't want to pay to put something in the AH twice, and 2, I know what it's like paying 4-5x the value of a crafted item because the cost of ingredients have gone up, or people have been increasing the price with demand.
I am a heavy crafter, and just to give an example of how bad things are getting, I couldn't buy a stack of tsurara for 8k the other day, so I bought 8k worth of ingredients, made 6 stacks, and sold 5 of them for 4k each, and used one stack to lvl on. Normally, I am too lazy or busy to do this, but when people raise the price, expect other crafters to retaliate.
Here here, brethren! I do the same exact thing. As cooking goes, 1 Roast mutton would cost me 2k off AH. When I buy a stack of each ingredient (including crystals), It adds up to about 5k. 5k compared to 24k??? Umm ya, I think I'll take my way and sell the Roast Muttons on the AH for 1k instead, which still turns out a 7k profit while gettin the satisfaction of supplying the lower leveled group with food ( which is never used because the prices are insane ) But you have those "Over-undercutters" that need as much cash as they can get. . . but it doesn't matter because the market gets flooded with 50+ items and people are like "wtf why didnt my thing sell" and they go check and they've been undercut just by supply in demand alone.
Bottom line I guess is that the AH is balanced business of undercutters and overpricers in my eyes @_o I choose to be the less disdainful undercutter. =P
(P.S. I know roast mutton is a crappy choice of item, but that's a good food for parties in qufim and I went off a Jeuno priced item) :P
yea a thf would help, i sell my thf to ppl farmin. 350 gil per skin. lol i make ok gil that way and some of the ppl i met a funny as hell. made around 9k off one guy!
davoi war lizards drop them somewhat more frequently,(but not every fight)but you have to farm carefully if you are lvl 50ish or below cause the orcs nearby will agro you in some places, and you have to rest after a few fights
Labrynth lizards in crawlers nest drop these VERY frequently. Sometimes more then one a fight, and often more then one a fight once a thief joined up. Managed to pick up a stack for myself. Imagine my surprise seeing them at 9k a stack. With fire crystals made over 10k gil in a exp party...not a bad deal.
