THIS is what you need to do...
After you achieve a 5th level, go after any-old Orcish Fodder you see and kill it. IF it drops an "Orcish Axe," then you're in business, instantly.
Take it to the guy who gave you the mission, by the South Sandy gates, target the guy, and use the MAIN MENU (middle mouse button, or MINUS key on the keyb, if you're a PC gamer), and select TRADE. Select the Orcish Axe to trade with him, then OK it.
A cutscene will follow, something about the dead Queen.
Anyway, that's it in a nutshell - take it from a newbie who just finished the easy mission - you're all set.

I know this is an old thread, I apologize, but being a new player for about a month, I am on the XBOX 360, and it seems alot is different. Is that due to game updates? I cannot receive this quest, nor are any of the gate guard names mentioned in this thread actually there. All the guards have different names. Anyway, can anyone shed some light on this? thx

There are three gates that lead outside to the forests. All gates have the same NPC's that do the same thing, except their names are different. If you are facing the exit, the guy with the R.K. in his name will give you signet, and the guy to the far right of that will give you the San d'oria rank quests. I'm on XBOX 360 too. If you need help, you can always contact me. I'm on Diabolos Server. Name is Zalamar.

i own a 360 too and its very simple to get the quest just talk to the guard on the far right side of the gate to w.ronfaure

This quest is grade-A easy. You can find the axe from any of the Fodders in Ghelsba, East/West Ronfaure, and even in La Theine. HOWEVER; They're rare/ex, so ignore the people stating that you can farm heaps of them and turn them all in at once.
Kill Fodder.
Trade axe to either Ambrotien OR Grilau, as both give the missions.
..That's it. There is no step 3, it's that easy ;)

I killed one and got one of these axe, and when I go talk to the guard it says "Finish your current quest and then you can get another misson", Some what similar to that. Someone please help me.

This was way too easy in fact I wasn’t even trying to do this quest when I got the Orcish Axe. I wasn’t sure what to do with it so I hung on to it. I went back to the gates after gaining a few levels and talk to the guard. So I took on the quest then turned around and gave him the Axe. In fact I gave him about 5 of them that I had acquired in my XP run.

as the first mission u should try not to ***** it up. so around lvl 5-7 kill the orcish fodders and they should drop an axe go back to the missiom guy and trade it to him

I got the axe from like the second one i killed. but i cant turn it in to a west Ron. gaurd. i havent found the right one yet.

The axe is a regular drop, not bound to this mission, rank or nation. Which means any Windurstian/Bastokan player rank 1-10 who was or never was Sandy citizen can get the axe dropped at any given time.

yes you can. after compleating the mission it gives you an option of doing it again or moving on. no offense tidus but you don't have the facts don't post.

BTW...Missions ARE repeatable! So, yes you can repeat the mission, just talk to the mission director again and select the mission you wanted to repeat. Then trade him the item. The repeating of mission is neccasary to unlock other missions, unless u feel like loosing all ure crystals...

ROFL I am a 25WHM/12BLM and I decided to finally rank up. I went into Ghelsba, and the first orc I killed ended up dropping the axe! I'm such a lucky taru ^^v.
The best is, your going to Ghelspa Outpost. But if you go there, you have to be at least lvl 8. There is only one kind of orcs who dropps the Axe. Trade it with the Gateguard that gave you the mission. Then everything should be ok

You start by talking to any mission assigning guard by town exiting gate. No rank point is needed to flag this quest. Once accepted this mission. Kill any Orcish Fodders in West Ronfaure, East Ronfaure, and/or Ghelsba Outpost. Level of these Orcs are low can can be taken with ease at lvl 8+. I suggest til then don't even bother with this mission. There is nothing to gain from this mission besides rank points. walking out there wasting time with lvl 5 character will be pointless. Once you obtain the Orcish Axe. Take it back to guard whom you have accepted mission from and your mission will be over.

Just slay Orcish Fooders to get the axe.
Then trade it to the guy at the gatehouse who

Trade the axe to the guard that is off to one of the sides of the gate, not the two that always stand near the entrance to it, the ones that give you the missions are the ones you trade it too.

If u have the axe and the mission alls u need to do is trade it if that dont work seek information from a mentor and at last resort a GM

I dont understand why you all say this is so hard a drop to find. I have found atleast 10 of these only problem is I'm from bastok so I just toss 'em.
Don't toss them, even though they are ex, npc merchants still buy them!

This quest is for Sand'orians only, so the only way for an non sand'orian to dothis quest is to become a sand'orain resident which I dont recommend doing just to do a mission because you would lose all the rank points you got in the town you started in. So to answer your question, no there is nothing for you here MR. Windrustian or Bastokian

The axes are also sellable to NPC's, the usual price I get is around 150g each, depending on fame.
Is there a way to turn these orcish axes back into an NPC to gain fame? Someone in my LS said that's how he raised his fame.

I got the mission from Ambrotien to the right side of gate to East Ronfaure. I got the axe to drop at the campfire near the river after killing several other Orcish Fodders.
