Mission Orders

You are to join a surprise attack on the Quadav stronghold in Beadeaux.
See Iron Eater in the President's Office for details.

Walkthrough

Note: You may have to trade up to one stack of crystals to a gate guard before this mission is offered.

Speak to any Bastokan Gate Guard to accept this mission. After accepting the mission, you will be sent to Iron Eater at (J-8) of the Metalworks, who guards the door to the President's Office. Volker will instruct you to help the Iron Musketeers with an attack on the Quadav stronghold of Beadeaux, which is located at the southeast exit of the Pashhow Marshlands. Your task in Beadeaux is to exterminate 20 Copper Quadavs. Each kill will count for everyone in the alliance, so teaming up will not slow your progress down.

After defeating 20 Copper Quadavs, zone out of Beadeaux to get a cutscene to finish this mission.

Note: If you warp, escape, or die to get out of Beadeaux, you must return to Beadeaux and zone out to get the cutscene to finish the mission.

Yes very easily. I did this mission solo as a 28 THF/WAR sure I almost died, but hey I'm a crazy Galka. Go for it they should be too weak to be worthwhile to you.

i just did this mission, and a little word of advice. if you go down in the tunnel, DONT GO NEAR THE AFFLICTOR it will cast a curse on you that severely lowers your max HP and MP and at lower lvls if you get aggro your screwed. also if your a mage, dont touch the mute, it will cast a VERY long silence on you

However, if you're silenced (by the Mute), you won't be cursed if you approach the Afflictor. Granted, if you're a mage, I could see this being a problem. Weigh it: either silenced, or reduced HP, MP, and movement speed.

I've been putting this mission off, and I think I will for another level, but as a 25/12 MNK/WHM (using WHM only to reduce downtime), I think I'll be fine
or can a 24 mnk do this easily enough?
RE: glad I read this
# Dec 23 2004 at 11:06 PM Rating: Decent
Lv.24 cannot do this easily solo. You need to kill copper quadav which would be hard for a lvl 24.

I dont think DRG25 could do this no. Not solo.

I just did this mission a couple of days ago. I had put it off for quite some time since I saw ppl here saying you needed to be at least lvl 30 and so on to do this. However, just wanted to say that I did it with my RDM25/WHM12 and it was no problem at all. Just stay close to the entrance and take the Copper Quadavs there. Most will be EP but even the DC are no problem at all.
Dieing during Mission

I killed 15 then died , do I have to kill 5 more or another 20 ?
RE: Dieing during Mission
# Oct 08 2004 at 8:41 PM Rating: Decent
I went back today and killed 5 more , then I zoned after getting attacked by an Incredibly Tough Quadav and I got the correct cut scene .
Can this be soloed?

Quick stupid question. Is there any reason this mission cannot be soloed?
Are you required to have a party to finish this mission?

Yes, you can solo this.
I recommend being atleast 30+ for this, if you are the melee class. I'd say 35+ for a Mage.
The Copper Quads are pretty darn easy. Just make sure if they link, to watch your HP. I never had a problem with them linking though. =) And then was invited into a party halfway through. *points to post below* ^^

I finally did this mission today. I put it off for... two months. -.- Yes that's right, you read correct, I had this mission floating around in the top of my "Missions" List for two months. I finally bit the bullet and did it.

Level 36 Pally, with Warrior subbed.
I got there, killed about ten quads, when this other guy comes along, I /sea all him and I see he's Rank 3. So I asked him if he wanted to team up, but he said he already had a team, but asked if I wanted to join him, so I did. I look at the party list and their is a 58 DRK and a 50 DRK, along with the 30 Dragoon who I was talking too. As soon as I say hi, they reply with a "Want a Rank 5 item?" O_O <--- My look. They repeat "While we were killing the quads, we came across a Quadav Augury Shell, would you like it?" Those weren't the exact words, but pretty much that's the jist of it. O_O <--- Again, my look. So I get the Shell, am so happy, they help kill off the rest of the quads with me, and then they say "Hey, let's go kill the mob that drops the Charm for the Rank 5 Mission for them." O_O <--- You got it. They go out and fight De'Vyu Headhunter, and yes, four Charms drop. So along with the amazing timing of putting off this mission for two months, finally deciding to do it, and getting two of the rank 5 mission items out of it, it was deffinetly worth being lazy and never doing the mission. ;D

Just a shout out to Blizzard on Fairy, thanks for your help and the help of those two Linkshell members that got the two items for the Rank 5 Mission. ^-^

(...oh! And umm yes...I could solo the copper quadovs at 36, very easily. Each one was {Too Weak to be Worthwhile}.)

This Mission is really easy to do.

Stay near the zone, avoid the pugils, and take the Coppers down 1 by 1. I did this as a Lvl. 30 Thief. Went through about 10 Quads. Then a high level Red came by and offered to help me kill the rest.

Voila. That's it ^.^

Easily, i did this mission (the first time) as a 25 RDM/WHM with help of a 30 thf. As a 35RDM now, i can (with stoneskin/phalanx) easily walk through the Copper Quads. There is little to no linking, and i have yet to have a higher level Quad come down from the ledges and aggro.

Just soloed this as 25War/12Mnk It was fairly easy, just stayed near the entrance and pulled the coppers out of the center back towards the entrance. Only got aggro once, and that was by another copper. It seemed like I always finished them off right before my tp was full, which was frustrating, as I was boost/sturmwinding these guys for like 240+. Anyway, fairly easy solo if you're cautious.

You probably need to donate some crystals to the IM guy at one of the gates. Just after completing the Rank 3 mission you have 0 rank points in the bar. I donated a stack of Earth crystals and I was able to pick up M7.

Yes, basically, i think, you could have anybody of any rank, alliance, or level come and help you. All you have to do is lets your whole party kill 20 copper quadavs and then zone.
Help...please
# Jul 12 2004 at 3:26 AM Rating: Default
Ok so i took mission 3-1 for bastok the one where i kill the 20 copper quadavs. While i did it the first time i, i got aggroed by tons of high lvl quadavs and died. I then went to my home point, later that week, i finished killing all the quadavs, i zoned out of Beadeax(sp?), and i got the cutscene saying that i had killed all the quadavs that i needed to. When i ready on this website to finish the mission all i needed to do is talk to Iron Eater, i proceeded to do so, however, already the mission appears under completed mission. When i talk Iron Eater, he replies to me that only adventurers of importance can blah blah blah, and not whatsoever acknowledged the mission i just did. So then i try to see if i can take my next mission "To the Forsaken Mines", but i cant, so then i try to trade the gate guard crystals, but he wont accept them...can someone please tell me what im doing wrong...THANK YOU!!!

I got confused and tried to give the mission giver guy crystals. Doesn't work. You give crystals to Iron Muskteers: the guys that cast signet on you. Hope this helps!
Temp logging

Can you temp log while working on the mission solo? Or leave or anything? Like what are the rules for doing this mission as far as leaving, logging, etcetera...
RE: Temp logging
# Jun 27 2004 at 9:40 PM Rating: Decent
Nevermind, I kind of answered my own question. I solo'd this as a 25 Monk/Thief today temp logging to off and on over the course of the day and had no problem getting it when i zoned. Albeit I came close to dieing once or tice I was never actually ko'd and forced to go to my homepoint or anything.

Should I grab a friend who can heal to help me with this mission?

And also, can this friend be from Sandy or Windy?

Does this mission have you meeting up with other NPC party members, or not? From what I've read elsewhere it looks like I'd have help upon arriving, but I'm not sure.

Little late in the reply but: no, unless you have help from other players you're on your own. The story says that you and the other NPCs split up so you only see them at the cutscenes that take place at the zone.

is there a level cap for this mission ?
Re: The Four Musketeers
# Mar 15 2004 at 6:45 PM Rating: Decent
i did this as a lv26 drk/lv13 war and was able to solo it tho it took me some downtime to do so. they all con at easy prey to me, but they take me down to around half hp after every battle so i had to kneel after every battle. also, all the quadav's and pugils link and aggro me so i would just use mana to pull the copper quadav to me run near the entrance and fight there.

I took this mission because it's listed here as not skippable. When I tried to get help on Siren server someone insisted that it was skippable and wouldn't help me to do it.

So...is it skippable or not?

its not skippable, its the next mission (the forsaken mines) that is skippable.
