In-Game Text

Description

Place a bronze bed in your home house and after the next weekly update on Sunday, Moogle will tell you that sleeping in the bed has made him homesick and he would like to take a vacation. However, Moogle is ashamed to go home empty handed. He wants to give Papa Moogle a Power Bow because he likes to enter the archery contest at the fair. Mama Moogle would look very pretty with a Beetle Ring. Poor Moogle asks for your help in finding these items for him.

Bring the items to Moogle and he will tell you he will be back in a few days with a gift for you. Not to worry, he wont disappear. Later, he will return with a shiny new Mog Safe for you.

Are the ring and bow returned to you after the quest is completed? That's all I'd like to know.

I believe it's an offline timer, which would explain his thing about leaving for awhile.

I'm not sure if it is a cumulative offline timer or if you have to be offline for a certain amount of time straight.

Anyone that can disprove this? If not, I'd assume once you get it just log off for a change and see your family, heh. Then come back and get your upgraded safe.

There's no offline timer, unfortunately.

I gave the moogle his bow and ring 2 hours after the update, check back 2 hours later, checked back before I went to bed at night, checked after I woke up in the morning... NOTHING.

He said he'd be gone a few days; I didn't realize he meant a few Vana'diel WEEKS.

Buy the bronze bed

You can only lay out the bed in your home town - from your mog safe.

You need to have at least fame level 3 in your home town for the quest to trigger. It only triggers after the bed has been laid out as furniture during the weekly conquest update. You can only get the trigger message from talking directly to your moogle in your home town. (i.e. target moogle & press return).

Once he has received the power bow & beetle ring as a trade he still appears as a model and will not talk to you about the quest. I don't know if you can remove the bed post trigger but pre reward but why risk it ?

After a while if you talk to him directly he will tell you that your safe has been upgraded. This can happen anywhere - including renta rooms. I do not know the time but when he says days he means IRL not FFXI days.

There is no limited number of quests every week (everyone I know who follows those instructions gets the trigger on the first try).

Because the process is a little convoluted and non-intuitive it can appear that there are other factors - these do not exist. What is more likely is that you have not fulfilled all the requirements.

You can only do the mog house beds in order - consecutively. Although there is no reason not to do them one a week. I have not tried to have all three beds in place to see if the second quest triggers immediately after the first is completed or it requires another conquest update.

Hope that resolves a few questions.

I put my Bronze Bed in my Mog Safe, placed it in my Mog House. I come back about 8 hours later (3 hours after the mog house update), and couldn't get the quest when I spoke to the moogle.

Now this was only 11:30am PST, so I figure I should be able to get the quest. When I approach the Fame Checker in my home town, he says "You're famous in our kingdom. (I've done 30 or more unique quests and repeated at least as many).

I didn't get the quest.

Why not? I'll try again next weekend, hopefully I can be on right as the results are posted.

If, like me, you rent a room after getting the bed but before your Moogle asks for a break, simply take the bed out of your Mog House and put it back in.

This will give you access to the quest, assuming that you have all the other necessary requirements.

You will still have to wait until after the next conquest tally in order to get the quest.

Here is the deal.

1st. You HAVE to have the required level of fame in your home city.

2nd. Your moogle HAVE to be in your home city's house. That means you CANNOT have rent-a-room service.

EVERYBODY can do this quest, your nationality does not matter.

You cannot have a rental room during the tally or you will not get the quest.

Actually, it's perfectly OK to have a rental during the tally. I've done all three Mog House expansions and every single time I had a rental during tally. You just can't get the quest in a rental. You have to visit your moogle in your home town after you've met the other criteria (fame, city place, bed installed).

For the bronze, 3rd place is OK on city.
For the mohogany, 2nd place is OK.
For the noble, you need 1st place.

BTW, personally verified that 1st place works on mohogany and 3rd does not with same fame. A friend just got it when his city was 2nd place, though.

quick note
# Mar 08 2004 at 5:23 AM Rating: Decent
I noticed that when I got this quest, he wouldn't give it to me when I accessed the mog house through my menu (like I normally do) but when I selected him and talked to him (like I would a normal npc) he gave me the quest. Also, it was nowhere near the tally time, (about 12 Real Life hours after), so I would say you definately don't need to talk to him right after the tally. As for anything else, I dunno, he still hasn't disappeared or anything and my mog safe is still 50 slots, so I'll post more information when I get it.
fame needed?
# Mar 04 2004 at 11:38 AM Rating: Decent
I only have rank 2, and put a bronze bed in the mog and, got the quest this past sunday. so it works, and you only need rank 2. But I've done alot of other quests in the town. It could be lvl depended, not sure, but you can do it at rank 2 fame.

I believe you will need some fame to get the Mog quest. You'll know when you get it when you talk to your Mog and a cutscene happens. It only happens on the World Tally day. (Sunday) And it usually takes a half a day, or a whole real day for it to complete.
Why didn't it work?

One quick question... Can i get the quest if i have rented a room in windurst? My home is Bastok.
RE: moogle
# Feb 22 2004 at 12:34 AM Rating: Decent
No, because you'd have to place the bed out into your mog house layout, you can't change layout in a rent-a-room.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 15 2004 at 10:27 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The guide fails to mention that this quest like some others is restricted, meaning that every given week only a handful of people who meet the requirements are selected to receive the quest, so if you leave the bed in then eventually you may get it, since I think the "quest queue" is somewhat dependent on waiting time, though may not be right away after conquest update.

Going away?
# Feb 08 2004 at 2:06 PM Rating: Default
I got the quest today, gave the moogle the items instantly (already had them so didn't have to leave the mog house). He said he'd go but he hasn't.

Does it matter that he hasn't gone, and will the quest still finish in a couple of days time?
RE: Going away?
# Feb 09 2004 at 12:53 PM Rating: Default
Come back just now, talked to the moogle and he's back with the bigger mog safe.

So the mog quest is like this:

1) Takes less than 24 hours (or it might, anyway - I've levelled since giving the mog his items, so that might have something to do with it).
2) Some sort of replacement mog steps in for your own mog while he is away, so you can still get auction money, (existing) mog safe items and job changes.
RE: Going away?
# Feb 09 2004 at 12:55 PM Rating: Default
Oh, and you also have to actually talk to your mog (i.e. he won't just tell you off his own initiative and selecting Mog House from the menu won't do it - you need to actually select and chat with him).

I've had this quest for two real weeks now and I've gotten the Power Bow and the Beetle Ring that he wants...but he doesn't say anything. I've stuck them in storage, I've put them in inventory..do I have to equip them to get him to notice them or what?

What did you do?
RE: Going away?
# Feb 22 2004 at 10:37 PM Rating: Default
this is what totally confused me.
I bought the bed, placed it. Got the quest. Gave Mog the items, then he said thanks and that he's going away.
I take out the bed and go sell it.
I comeback, there's a moogle staring at me in my mog house. This gets me worried, Since I sold my bed before my moogle gave me the reward, did i just ***** myself over?
Or is it that MY moogle has gone away and some replacement moogle has stepped in for a while? is that right? Hopefully I can finish this quest :/
how long?
# Feb 07 2004 at 4:17 PM Rating: Default
How long before the mog returns with the extra space - I gave him the bow and ring two days ago
(real time, not game days).
# Feb 05 2004 at 2:48 PM Rating: Default
Don't take the bed out of mog house while the quest is still active. When the quest was activated I took the bed out (so I could sell at AH to help pay for Power Bow), and I lost the quest.
A really newb question
# Feb 05 2004 at 9:20 AM Rating: Default
How long does the Moogle go away for?

I got the quest w/ having at least level3 fame in Windurst, Sandoria, and Bastok.
Then I layed out the bed, and I only needed one bronze bed.

I got the Items cheaply, about 13500 total.

I'm just scared I'll have no Mog Safe or Delivery Box, and I wanna know how long he'll be gone.
RE: A really newb question
# Feb 05 2004 at 11:49 AM Rating: Decent
He actually does not leave. Mog will still be in the home. So you do not loose use of anything at any time.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 04 2004 at 10:01 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What's with the ******* attitude, just because someone doesn't know something you think is obvious, doesn't mean you have to be a prick about it. Furthermore, it used to be Windhurst, they changed it for some reason and it stuck with some. So lay off.

This quest gives you 10 more mog safe spaces increasing the size to 60.
