If you have at any point in your DD FFXI career looked at your mithkabobs and wondered, for a split-second, whether using one of them would be worth it for what you're about to do, you should never leave your home city without a stack of these bad boys.

+30 attack is not great, but it is significantly better than +0 attack.

ok what no one is realizing is after lvl 24ish you're base attack is at or over the cap, meaning u will not get any benifit from the 22% att increase. so when you're base attack hits around 159 u will get around a 35attack point increase. as for mithkabobs its base attack cap is much higher and caps at 60 at base attack lvl 272. so hopefully u'll c the difference. not many people are actually explaining this.so use jerky til ur attack lvl hits to around 159 then switch to the 3 dhamels( pie, steak or stew) each caps at 180 with 45 point increase. then from there go to meat mithkabob cheifkabob or boiled cockatrice. each food willcap at 272. from there id say ur on ur own. since acc and all is involved.i hope this helps

LVL Usage
# Oct 03 2006 at 9:53 AM Rating: Decent
This meat jerky is only good from Base Attack from 56-120. I was lvling nin and war and I found for my nin it was good to lvl 24. From lvl 24 you have to use either Dhalmel Pie or Meat Mithkabob to optimize your attack strength. Use Meat Mithkabob if you cant get Dhalmel pies cheaply from merchants.

I just got this item for cooking guild points.

30 points per jerky
1760 points cap
What level can I use these to?

For some reason I just found out that these are tremendously cheaper than mithkabobs but I noticed some people posting that this is a good food for levels 1-30 or so. Why is that? Can't I use these for as long as I want? Is there a reason to use a different food past level 30?
Low level recipes carry more limitations

Though I have not confirmed the stats on this food since the update, I did make it and use it while I was at a low level in cooking.

The key reason why you'd want to move on to other recipes for higher levels is because they will provide you with better stats overall.

To give you an example:

Dhalmel Stew (70 cap) gives the following attributes: STR+4, VIT+2, AGI+1, INT-2 and Attack up 25%. However, the maximum attack you can gain from the stew is +45, with another +2 Attack contributed by the STR+4 stat.

Yellow Curry (85 cap) is said to give the following attributes: HP+20, STR+5, AGI+2, INT-4, HHP+2, HMP+1, Attack up 22%. However, the maximum attack you can gain from the curry is +75, with another +2 contributed by the STR+5 stat.

I would imagine with a low level recipe like Meat Jerky, the cap to the maximum amount of extra attack you can get from the 25% listed above is somewhere in the 20s, at the most.

I hope this adequately illustrates for you why at higher levels, you will want to use higher capped foods.

I'm still lost. If the max attack given for dhamel stew is +45 (+47 w/ STR), and the max attack given for yellow curry is +75 (+77 w/ STR), then why would you want meat jerky if it only gives max attack in the 20s?

LMAO!! Why would you want this over Red curry? How about because you can get jerky from npc's in unlimited supply for 100gil, and red curry can cost 100,000+ gil on some servers?! is that a good enough reason?! Oh, I forgot, lots of people buy gil, so it doesnt matter to them, but personally, I like to EARN my money and use COMMON SENSE while buying food. I guess I"m a minority

Basically a lot of the attack foods are based on percentages with a max cap bonus. So while one food may have a very low cap to the bonus it gives, you reach that cap faster because the percentage at which you get the bonuses is higher. Then the higher level foods have a lower percentage so it takes longer to reach the cap however, they have a higher cap.

In short, its a trade off. Either you get a bonus faster with a low cap or you get your bonus slower with a higher cap.

From a food guide I found on the internet somewhere, it'll increase your ATK by 25% until your base ATK is 137. then, it will only increase your ATK by 30 or so. the ATK difference between this and a Meat Mithkabob is 1 at my lvl (MNK25)

This is a GREAT food from lvls 1-30. I buy it on my server for 800k a stack. :D

800k/stack? I don't doubt it's goodness, but 800,000 is a lot for a stack ^.^

Just tried it.

Ice Crystal + 1 dhalmel meat + 1 dried marjoram + 1 rock salt = "Synthesis canceled. That combination of materials cannot be synthesized."

Also tried replacing dried marjoram with 1 black pepper, and agin with 1 bay leaf... neither worked.

This is better food then most ppl give it credit for. I lvled DRG on this up to lvl 35 before i was rich enough to afford kabobs. Ever since the update that gimped kabobs this looks a lot better than ever. 2 reasons because its good: its cheap and nowadays far more common

The Guild accepts max of 1760 guild points
and gave me 360 guild points per stack so you should buy 4 stacks and 11 extra or just 5 stacks for max GP.
