Historical InformationXuan Wu (Genbu in Japanese) is one of the four symbols of the Chinese Constellations, representing the "Black Tortoise of the North" and of the season of Winter. The other three symbols being the "Azure Dragon of the East", the "White Tiger of the West", and the "Vermillion Bird of the South" Each symbol corresponded to an element in the Five Element system, with Xuan Wu corresponding to the element of water.

going to attempt solo sometime when merits cap'd
Finally got this and a zenith crown as no one even lotted that drop LOL...anyway magic attack bonus is nice but only on EXP mobs or things not IT++ I need elemental magic for gods and often on HNM cuz if u resisted your magic attack bonus means nada....anyway the MP makes em worth it too....I have the Relic which provide 24 MP and 10 dark magic....and some such crap as added Magic burst bonus LOL....parties dont use or need MB at 70+ the mobs die too fast if u wait for MB so nuke away let the tank get hate back :)

Just so everyone knows....Shining Cloth does not drop from Genbu. It drops from Suzaku, Kirin and KB exclusivly.

Wyrmal abjuration X2 on one drop....have killed this Turtle about 10X and never seen a double drop....hmmmmm hoping to get double drop from the aquarian abjuration for magic attack mitts as two BLM in my HNMLS want these....the first time we killed this turtle those dropped and yours truly was dead and kicked from party for a replacement LOL and a WHM lots them and beats the other BLM *sigh* I guess for the MP bonus they good for any mage but come on.....a whm lotting an obvious blm piece....and everyone is like oooo they will drop again LOL well 1/10 so far KUPO!
Helped my ls kill him twice last night (well, mostly i just helped cure the tanks, and died a couple of times when I got to close to his AOE attack, and one time when I drew hate (mental note, throwing around Cure IV and III with +Emnity gear not a great idea). Second time, I won bid on arbitration for koenig hands, and crimson boots....and both dropped :D :D :D :D now all i need is like another 7 lvls or so and some gil to get them made.

I have been fighting Genbu for 5 months now...once a week, sometimes twice.
In those five months he has dropped TWO Aquarian Abj: Hands...
The ONE thing I want from Sky (BLM) ; ;
I have the cursed mitts ready and everything :( The two times he dropped were the only two times I couldnt make it to Gods because of family...

Just did this earlier tonight. Pretty easy fight, Genbu doesnt have any moves that are Overly threatening.
We fought him 2 times, think I remember 1 death in total. Me and other PLD were kiting, WHM got hate and ate a critical for all her taru HP.

we just fought our first god on saturday on a new hnmls, with none of us lvl 75 we took it down with hardly any trouble, just at the start we had a few deaths but we got back up and roasted it. We only had 1 whm lvl 68 I think.
Hint : MNK/WHM with full mnd gear will toast it.

Avesta is just amazing. Hes got BLM and RDM at 75, tons of gear that we all dream about, and has soloed so many things. Zippacna, Apis (ENM), Maquis Orias (Dynamis-Xarcabard NM), Desert Swarm. The site is down now >< I really want to see him do Genbu.

Nope, hes been around a very very long time, and yea if you see his gear >.> {Impossible to Gauge}, gear has alot to do with solo'ing didnt think it mattered much with smn (due to just needed insane mp) but as playing thf and solo'ing even match all the way to incredibly tough ive noticed every little bit of decent gear though i wasnt able to solo incredibly tough till about lvl 30 when some of the good thf gear opened up though when it comes to anything at Very Tough or higher its quite hard (for me lvl 30 nub thf give me a break >.>) but i can solo tough very tough at 30 on a regular basis but IT well i have succesfully taken down two IT mobs a tiger out in batilla downs yea it was like i had like 2 hp (damn paralyze spells) and a Gob which went quite smoothly got cocky tried again and wiped due to me (capped marksman) not being able to blind/bloody/sleep when needed and he got a double attack off took two shadows did a goblin rush well no more shadows and hurt then a bomb toss brought me down to about 40 something hp and finally one hit death, when you solo you realize some of it takes skill some takes equip others is just plain luck :P Avesta just happens to have the combination of all three ^^b Have Fun and if solo'ing use reraise or something >.> Good luck

I would say you need to think about what you're going to say before you post something. If you think Avesta hacks, then you're just plain stupid. Why do you think that such a feat is not possible? I myself have access to a rdm75 and find soloing avatars laughable. Generally speaking, avatars aren't easy fights, and they're not hard fights. So it's really no big deal that I can solo them. But the point is, is that they're pathetic to solo. Now, if I, a rdm with few merits, and decent gear finds such fights to be laughable. What do you think Avesta would think of the fights? A rdm with insane gear and plenty of merits to boot. Exactly, he would solo the avatars and make me look like some rank 1 dumbass nab, even though the fights are easy for me. Simply put, open your eyes, this game's jobs are far more powerful then you realize, if you think people hack to achieve some of these feats then maybe you simply aren't good enough at what you do, and need to either quit whining or step it up a notch. Sorry for the rant, but some people just need to quit thinking everyone hacks on this game, 'cause they don't; they're just simply, that good.

Anyone got a vid of a BLM soloing? I hear alot about a BLM soloing it <personally i think they just missread the post below> But if some one can come up with a Vid of BLM doing it that would be cool.

supposedly the fight took five hours, and what you get when you download the .zip is a screenshot of him popping genbu solo, and then fighting him around 50% HP. the movie itself is of the final 30 seconds @_@

Yep, did him this morning got ok drops tho, could be because we had some freak claim loss or something... droped: Arctic Wind, Wyrmal Abjuration: Feet, and 3 bloody earth crystals,.. not bad for a first effort tho, did it in good time and hardly a struggle! ^^
You got the same exact thing that we did. Except you got 1 more earth crystal. Was a nice first god fight experience for my LS though.

Zip is alot harder then this turtle. kinda funny
wow if the drop list is right Genbu is yummy, Our Linkshell KnightSanctuary (seraph server) owned his *** in a matter of minutes with 16 people all lvl 72+, mostly all 75, infact I think I was the only lvl 72. it was fun as hell but we didn't get really any good drops, Wyrym Abj, Arctic wind, and that was really about it lol ==;. still, we weren't there for drops, we were there for the fun of it :) and my god was it fun.
