Knight Stalker - DRG AF3

SummaryRahal wants you to gather information regarding the attacks on the Royal Knights. DescriptionThis quest requires a bit of running around to get started, just like AF2. First, speak with Rahal in Chateau d'Oraguille for a cutscene. Then speak with Ceraulian in Port San d'Oria. This will trigger another cutscene in which Brugaire asks you to find the helmet of the last Dragoon for him in Kuftal Tunnel. Next, head to Kuftal Tunnel and find a Kuftal coffer key. The keys drop from Cave Worms, Deinonychuses, Haunts, Recluse Spiders, Robber Crabs, Sand Lizards and Scavenger Crabs, which are fished. Coffer chests spawn on the first map (with the zone to Western Altepa Desert) at H-7 and H-6, and on the larger second map at K-11, G-9, H-9, J-7, J-8, I-4, F-6 and D-9. Open the chest to receive a key item, Challenge to the Royal Knights. Bring this back to San d'Oria and speak again with Rahal. After a cutscene, go talk to Balasiel, the NPC that gives you the PLD flag quest, in Southern San d'Oria. After speaking with him you must go back and speak to Rahal one more time. At this point Rahal will tell you that you need to find the helm of the last dragoon, and that your wyvern should be able to sense where it is. Now you need to gather your alliance and head to the Temple of Uggalepih in Yhoator Jungle. Something to note before you go, you will need your Wyvern out to spawn the NMs, so to be safe I recommend not calling it till you are ready to spawn the NMs, just incase you die. Make your way to F-10 and walk through the granite doors into a room in F-11 (this room is not on the map). Only Invisible is needed to make it to this room safely, but you may find it easier just to clear the tonberries on the way. If you do this, call for help as you fight them so as to not build hate with them (as the more hate you have the more their move "Everyone's Grudge" will do). Clear out the tonberries, bees and doll in F-11 and then you are ready to spawn the 2 NM shadows. Have everyone get a good distance away from the ??? (the one of the floor, not the wall, as this one is "just a beehive"), Call your wyvern, get a Sneak and hit the ???. Your wyvern will react and Cleuvarion M Resoaix and Rompaulion S Citalle will spawn. Run back to your alliance and single pull the shadows for a real easy fight. After the shadows are dead, all the dragoons in attendance need to touch the ??? again, which will start a cutscene (best cutscene I have seen in the game so far). At this point you will receive your Drachen Armet and the title of "Paragon of Dragoon Excellence." On a side note, returning to Ceraulian in Port San d'Oria when you are done will trigger a short cutscene with Brugaire. Its not necessary, just another part of the storyline that I found interesting. Also next time you speak to Rahal he will once again thank you for solving the mystery behind the last Dragoon. It was me as 75PLD/37WHM, and my friend a 59DRG/29THF. We made our way to the place and planned a sneak pop. I used a Pescatora, buffed up with Shell 3, Protect 4, Stoneskin, and Blink. The DRG, popped em and I invised em and opened the door for them to go hide safely while I solo'd. (Chivalry was helpful.) I had sneak still on, walked up to the bridge and flashed the THF (Rompaulion S Citalle), then pulled it towards the other side of the room near the door.
The fight itself went pretty easy, was long as all get though. I kept stoneskin and blink up as much as possible. When I had a hard time getting stoneskin back up I would use my Spartan Hoplon for Phalanx and just kept at him. Slowly but surely I was able to take him down. At 30% I had to use Invincible due to him being stubborn about stoneskin and my hp was at about 800. I dont think my HP ever went below 700. Be careful on his Dimensional Death looking move, it might have been called DD, I dunno wasn't really paying attention.
All in all it was a fairly easy fight. Good luck to anyone trying to get this.

I did this quest this morning. I had 3 75's a Rdm, a Mnk, a Ninja and me (60 Drg). And even with 3 75's this was kinda hairy.
So anyone who says this is easy, can seriously get over themselves. We had the 75 Rdm and Nin fighting the Thf NM, and me and the 75 Mnk fighting the War or Drk NM. I went Drg/Whm so I spent most of my time healing the Mnk, while the Rdm spent most of his time healing the Nin. It was a quick fight all around but still even with a few 75's this isn't easy. Both the Nin and the Mnk almost died a couple of times each. But in the end I got my Drachen Armet, ya son!
But for those who get confused if you don't get a CS when you click the ??? after the fight, just keep clicking it til you get the CS. It took 5 tries before I could get the CS for my Drachen Armet. So don't give up if it does that.^^
Oh and that headpiece looks so funny on my character, lol. But then again it looks so funny on any character I've seen with it so far.

thats why you pull one at a time not 2 at the same time
even so the RDM coulda solod one himself these are way easier that ruby quadavs

Just did this last night it was a very easy fight. Party set-up was:
62 DRG
62 PLD
60 WHM
63 RDM
58 BLU
55 RDM
55 DRG
Used the sneak pull method after clearing the room, had no problems the WAR type did NOT hit the PLD tank that hard. Killed the THF quickly then figured we might as well kill the WAR because it was so easy.

Can be solo'd by BST75/WHM. Sneak up on pop and pull Rompaulion (THF). I let them sit a bit before pulling one which probably helped a little. I fought it other in the middle of the other mobs and just kept the DRG sneak/invis'd. After WAR depopped, I pulled it back over to other side (where I had cleared out the 2 crawlers). Had DRG join in at that point. Don't think DRG's help was really necessary as DRG did 329 damage total and my finishing rampage didn't use all the hits. My CC did get killed when NM was down to about 6% or so, so I didn't bother to call another. I helped kill throughout the whole battle and used Reward once. Romp hit me once for 51 damage. I do have 1 Beast Affinity merit, but not sure that is really necessary for this fight.

We cleared the room on tonberries and crawlers. I casted sneak on the DRG and
had him spawn the NMs and run back to the corner. I pulled the THF NM back to
the corner where we fought it. I cast Slow, BioII and blind on the NM and had
Stoneskin, Prot4, Phalanx, Ice Spikes, Haste, Enfire and Cocoon up at all
times. I also had Bludgeon and Smite of Rage so also had Undead Killer. The
NM barely attacked us at all cause it was either paralyzed or intimidated for
most of its attacks. Had to redo stoneskin about 4 to 6 times, can't remember
exactly. A tonberry popped during the fight so I slept it. We were both
about at half life when it went down. Took about 8 minutes or so to kill and
by that time the other NM had despawned. The DRG got the cutscene and his Armet.
All in all a pretty easy fight. GL to other DRGs on their AF quests.

Contrary to what was posted below, we sneaked up and pulled the THF first, but by the time he died, the WAR had already despawned, and yet we got the cutscene anyway. Maybe whether or not it counts as a success depends on which of the two was killed?

I'm having a problem. I've logged all my AF quests, but for some reason nothing happens when I talk to Rahal. Any suggestions?

it'd be friggin' sweet if someone could help me out... i just started playing again after a year absence and all my LS members are gone. any help with this quest would be appreciated. Im on Valefor, VitaminKain's my character. send a /tell.

Did this tonight as BST75/NIN with WHM71 and DRG59.
The DRG sneak popped and i pulled with CC. First fight was the WAR and it was matching my CC's damage (which is never good) CC tanked and lasted for about 65% and i tanked the rest (including mighty strikes ><) we beat it and the second one despawned before we we re ready to attack so fail.
second try i pulled the other one which is a THF type and CC hit for 150 ish as with the first but it only hit CC for 50 ish (1/3 the war) we waited before pulling so the WAR despawned before we killed it (CC had about 30% left on it)
so 75 BST/NIN could solo this if you pull the THF on the right first (assuming a DRG went with you).

Do you *need* to be DRG for this? I know that only wyvern can pop the NMs but what if say, I went as WHM instead and had another DRG come along that needed it and he popped it, would I still get my cutscene?

So, I've been trying to get help for this for a while now...and I noticed someone shouting that they needed it too and had 3/??? people so I say I can help (I figured this would be ok since I needed it too and was already DRG60/WAR30.) But no. The person wouldn't let me help because I wasn't high enough level (that person being two levels lower than me.) So I'm thinking to myself, "That's lame", seeing as how when you are fighting two NMs you'ld want all the help you can get. Well I see a person I pt'd with the day before /bow to the person that said i couldn't help and I send him a /tell. He says "I'm just teleing them". Well 10 minutes later it is just him the person that said I couldn't go and one other person in The Temple of Uggalepih...so 1)the person I PT'd with lied. 2) For some reason the person that was doing it is an a-hole and just didn't want me to get my helmet.
So if anyone is on Phoenix server and actually enjoys HELPING others (i can't really help myself let alone others yet as my highest jobs are only level 60)my name is ZIEM...and I need this.

Yeah, this thing was easy. Had a 74 BLM friend help out, and a 72 NIN friend for tanking. We pulled Cleuvarion M Resoaix first and killed him easily, but Rompaulion S Citalle used Perfect Dodge on us. Wasn't really expecting that, but oh well. All in all, I'd say a party of 60 could take them.

lol i did this fight last night with 4 ppl 75smn 75 war 50 drg(me) 50 whm i just sneaked and smn pulled one at a time smn just used carby lol war stole hate and got down into yellow few times but went pretty easy. checked ??? and the CS was cool cant wait till i get to wear af ^^

Ok just did this 2 nights ago( Jan 18, 2006). I was reading up on it b4 and actually though it might be hard but i went ahead and tried anyway. Here was setup.
Drg/War 60 (me)

Aight so i guess some higher lvls there, but it was super easy with this setup. Very fun to and a sweet cutscene. In my opinion me and the 75rdm/nin and the 75 thf/nin could have done it easily

Ok all you Dragoons, from reading previous posts and checking out the pic for the NM i was slightly worried going into this quest. But nothing to worry about what so ever. No ninja tanks needed no anything really.
Line up as follows:
58 Drg/war
57 Drg/Whm
61 Drg/War
58 Drg/war

70 Rdm/Blm
cleared the room, no prob (Throat stab is quite nasty and this was the first time i had seen it) Cast sneak on our Drg/Whm he popped them, then the Rdm went up and pulled the War type one to us. 8 Jumps went off, about 75% health left, 4 pentas go off and drops it to 25% then hack and slash to victory.
For the record, he hit me once for about 350 damage, so its strength is not to be underestimated by any means, just a single person (in our case a high level mage) she be taking the hits, i think a Paladin at our level could have held it off just as well.
Good luck to any future Dragoons attempting this, and get ready for the coolest cutscene ever.

just thought i'd let people know you could get this key item as a different job than DRG. I picked it as 58THF with no problems :)
