Vana'diel Bestiary: Carnero  

I've killed this thing 3 times now with a THF/NIN at level 20+, got the drop 2/3, but one time I already had the drop in my inventory, so it may very well be 100%.

Camped it today for about 3hrs. 100% drop rate. Made 30k or better from drops around the area while i camped (bees, bats, gobs, sheep, etc.)

i found him in i-8, NORTH of the ramp connecting the 3rd and 2nd level. i believe carnero can pop anywhere on the 2nd level.

My wife and I decided to level sam to 37. I read about this GK at lvl 11, so we decided to camp PHs. So far, 1/1. I went 15 thf for TH1. Not sure if it is 100% or not so was hoping TH would help, but will edit this post if we get hers at the 2 hour mark.

Where I found him: just below the ramp going to the top level.

EDIT: Killed again, 2nd drop. 2/2. Must be 100%, but I did have TH.

He doesn't spawn @ the bottom and walk up thats BS, I killed only the two sheep @ the top and the Two sheep @ I-9 on the second floor and he spawned on the second floor right by the ramp to the top floor. He spawned in sequence with a 5min timer, ie: kill a sheep he spawns again in 5mins. Other ppl were killing sheep on the Hill so idk if those four are only PH's but I think they are. Hope this helps.

Ok I was horribly wrong, walking off the hill saw him @ I-8 2nd level about 5-10mins after I killed him. Good Luck

I've noticed a lot of websites say this is a 2 hour repop. Tonight I camped it for about 2 hours and 10 minutes before it popped, and someone else claimed it so I started killing sheep again. It popped again 30 minutes later. The first place it popped was at I-9 near the ramp going up to the top level of the hill. The second time, it popped in the center of I-8.

I killed all the sheep in I-8 and I-9 on the top two levels of the hill. Although I can't confirm it, I have a feeling one of the actual placeholders for this NM is at least one of the two sheep on the top level of the hill. I believe this to be true because sometimes when I would kill all the sheep around there, only one would repop on the top level.

Anyway, this drop is pretty cool, good luck everyone :)

i just camped this nm for over an hour without even a single pop!!!! beginning to doubt if its really worth all the trouble??!!!!!

I went to the second highest level on the hill killed a sheep in SW corner of I-8 and when I turned around, BAM!! There he was. One hit and one rampage later GK was mine. /dance

If you're not familiar with Vomp Hill (as I wasn't being flagged in San D'oria and all), some of the directions in these posts may not make much sense to you. Further, running up and down a spiral hill can certainly lead to some confusion as to what level you're currently on!

Listening to SeraphDak's directions, I ran up to the top of Vomp Hill (easily identified by, well, being at the top... and the pile of stones), ran down one level (so you're second from the top) and started killing every Sheep/Wolf I could find. After 20 minutes of running around I-8 and I-9, the NM popped and I owned it with my lvl 20WAR/10MNK (what?! I just unlocked SAM yesterday!) I found it easier to head to the top and work my way down, but I suppose if you're from Bastok this probably wouldn't be a problem :) Good luck!

I've only camped 1 or 2 NM's cuz I find camping a waste of time, so I usually wait until I stumble on an NM.

But it was funny, I was on my way back from the dunes with my 20 Bst/rdm. I was about ready to get to the Basty Mines entrance, and I had just gone past the Basty Markets entrance. I look over and wonder "Why in the hell is there a sheep kickin it outside of Basty?". Then I highlight it just in case its another Bst ******** around, and check it out. It says "Impossible to gauge".

But my Bst is at about 1/2 hp, with hardly any mp. So I say "***** it!" cuz its in S. Gustaberg how hard could it be, right? I didnt want anyone else to get claim on him. Well it's a good thing NM's correspond with their respective areas. He only did 40 hps of damage, the whole match. And I smoked him and got the Katayama drop.

It's funny cuz I've never seen this NM, I didn't know what he dropped, and I'm about ready to start leveling my Samarai. And I get this rare/ex drop. Oh, how I love it!!!! I'm gonna love using this on my Samarai for a few levels at 10+!

Sorry to all those who camp these low-level NM's! My bad! But how could I resist when he was kickin it right outside the Basty Markets exit?

I camped this thing a week ago, heres what happened.

I arrived as a WHM 25/BLM 12. There was one more person camping it. He said that he had been camping it for around an hour so i said i would let him have it if i saw it. Carnero popped around the 2nd Floor of Vomp Hill. He killed it pretty quick being a War 30. I was walking back to bastok when it popped infront of me. I killed it and got the drop. This makes me think that it has a random spawn time because from the time of death to the time of spawn, was no more then one minute. So have patience. Oh ya i only took 10 points of dmg ^^

After about an hour of looking for this guy on the 1st level of the hill I moved up to the 2nd level and he pop about 15 min later. There were 2 other guys trying to get him to pop on 1st level.....I kinda wish they had stuck around cause I would have told them where to go. 30war/15mnk....so problem whatsoever.
