Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Sky Orb, which is obtained by trading 30 Beastmen's Seals to Shami in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Sky Orb to the door of the Ghelsba Outpost hut and choose to enter the battle Petrifying Pair.

Up to 3 people may enter and you will all receive a level 30 restriction. You have 15 minutes to win. In here you only fight 2 lizards: Kilioa & Kalamainu.

  • The lizards will use Secretion at the beginning of the fight.
  • They will then use Baleful Gaze at full TP.
  • The lizards are possibly immune, or at least mostly resistant, to all Sleep - type spells.

Strategies

One of the most common strategies involves a tank, a DD, and a kiter (usually a RDM/BLM). The tank can be either WAR/NIN or PLD/WAR. DD's are usually a WAR/NIN with a Great Axe or a DRG/WHM (for self-curing while the RDM is Gravity-kiting the other lizard). At the start of the fight, buff, eat appropriate foods, rest to RDM's full MP, and then go after the brown lizard (the one on the left) as the RDM starts Gravity kiting the white lizard on the right. Don't forget, tanks, to unlock target and turn your back to the lizards as soon as you see them ready Baleful Gaze, to prevent being petrified. Once the brown lizard is dead, go and kill the white lizard while the RDM rests up and heals.

3-Boxing
# Jan 11 2009 at 9:49 AM Rating: Decent
Keeping it to the point. This BCNM is quite easy so far I've done it 6 times. Failed 3, won 3 and yet to see the boots. But I've been 3boxing it. This is a re-vision to my ratio. I've done this 10 times now, failed 3, won 7, and have seen the boots once.

Setup:
30 Pld/War (Hobgoblin Chocolate + 2 Yagudo Drinks)
30 War/Nin (with greataxe) (Hobgoblin Chocolate)
30 Rdm/Blm (Yagudo Drink)

This is what you NEED to know.
1st) Both lizards will cast their evasion up ability when you agro them. This means that they will both stand roughly in place for a few seconds before moving in to attack - Meaning that you have time to run into range and bind one of them before they can even move from their spawn spot.

Secondly...Here's some information from my paladin's log (Some of the dmg taken was with sentinel active)
What I was hit for.
Kalamainu hits you for: 51, 50, 48, 50, 43, 69, 36, 45(crit), 29, 27(tailblow), 39(crit), 32, 44(crit), 23 (He can double attack) (all this damaged happened in this order, spread out over the fight of course)
Kilioa hits you for: 31, 15, 22, 18, 24, 33,

*Kilioa hit my paladin considerably less because the warrior/ninja held agro most of the fight.

- Blizzard is your money maker as a RDM, I've yet to have a blizzard hit for less than 78, or more than 78. Aero hit for 56.

- Both lizards will slow/paralyze with out much difficulty (my enfeebling is maxed)

- Gravity will last at the most 1 minute, it should refresh just before it wears off if it runs full duration. If you haven't used gravity much it does an amazing job at slowing the movement speed, you can very easily kite the mob around.

- Bind will last a little less than a minute in my timings, or right at a minute. Either way its a 40 second recast and should refresh before it wears off if it runs full duration.

Reasons for my failures: 1st Attempt and Failure is after the Hobgoblin chocolate wore off (5minute effect) I selected my Instant Warp scroll instead. I moved back and forth and side to side but ultimately it still went off and the Paladin was back in Sandy. I had killed the first lizard at this point. Also note I had burned Invincible and Chain Spell. I kited the white lizzy around while trying to recover hp/mp on War/Rdm but ran out of time.

2nd Wipe was due to bind and gravity not sticking for full duration and being unable to recast due to recast timer! Rdm died before the first lizard Kilioa died. Pld and War finished off Kilio before the Rdm's dieing Bind wore off. I managed to beat Kalamainu to about 20% before dieing, I did use Mighty Strikes for this.

3rd Wipe was due to my power going out.

My fights are pretty well mapped out prior to me going in. Noting the set-up above the battle goes like this.

I load in all three toons and buff up. Protect II on everyone and blink/aquaviel on the RDM. I rest up, when I que heal on the RDM I draw the melee's weapons and use Utsusemi:Ichi on the warrior. When the RDM is at full mana (444mp) I use Hobgoblin Chocolate on the melee and Elemental Seal on the RDM.

I auto run the warrior than the paladin. When the lizards agro they will cast their evasion up buff, I always kill Kilioa first, and before Kala can move off much I have him bound, then I gravity him (the thing that will cause you the most trouble is not seeing when gravity fades, MAKE SURE YOU KEEP GRAVITY UP! GRAVITY AFTER BIND SO WHEN BIND FADES THEY RUN SLOW.

Next I will sentinel on the paladin and berserk on the warrior. The warrior usually has agro at this point so I voke on paladin and utsusemi again on war. Once utsu is recastable I voke on warrior and try to get agro so i can soak 4 hits and paladin heals himself. How long killing Kilioa will take you greatly depends on how lucky you are with landing your hits. I guesstimate she has around 1200-1500hp. Its also during this time I will slow/para kilioa.

If you're lucky all your binds/gravities will run full cycle and you'll never have much trouble as the Rdm, though another caution is to make sure you only cure III after a voke otherwise you're likely to get agro and that can prove lethal.

I've had no luck turning my back to the stone gaze. With Hobgoblin chocolate on it never really lasts long and with the warrior there as a back up tank its really NP.

Outside of a few minor other details I think you can see the flow of the fight. Watch for food fading, make sure you keep aquaviel up if it happens to fade because you won't live very long if the lizzy being kited isn't bound or gravitied. What else to tell you? I don't see using anything but a RDM as the kiter as working. I think two ninjas could do tank/dd, the idea behind a war/nin with a greataxe is to cause less tp gain by the lizard to do stone gaze, but if you have the right food it isn't that much of a problem (in 6 attempts that's my 2 cents).

Any questions you can reply here or message me in game on Seraph server, character's name is Ephron, Anthean, or Analyia.

Rdm/nin(Jeujeu) and Thf/nin(me). He kited white, I blind/bloody bolted brown then moved to white. I did get in the red once on the brown one but recovered just fine =D.

I equipped for Rng Acc and Eva then popped a pumpkin.

Oh and used TP for Shadowstitch to bind so I could get away and recast shadows.

Okay, read as much as I could on this, and wanting to do this BCNM soon as RNG/NIN. Got 2 Hawker's Knives and Noct +1 gear for +racc as well as Zamburak +1 for +ratt. My question is do Bloody Bolts work to drain HP on the lizards, as I think it would make survivability a non-issue when you pull hate from the tank, and can just replenish your own HP.

just did this twice, with blu/nin (me) blu/nin and rdm/nin. with this setup this bcnm is a joke. rdm casts bind and gravity on the white lizard then kites it around while me and the other blu destroy the brown. once its dead we rested to full then had the rdm bring the other. With all three of us it didn't last long.
we got crap on the first run but the second run boots dropped so i went home very happy elvaan ^^

I noticed how you said RDM is required... Well it isn't. I'm not the most amazing player and I was capable of kiting it on three consecutive runs with WHM/BLM. I did the BCNM with 2x BST/NIN and was also able to heal them. It's hard to recall but I believe I used Bind, Stoneskin and Paralyze. Bind works really really well so Gravity wasn't necessary for me. And paralyze allowed time for recast along with stoneskin to make sure no interrupt.. (I had capped enfeebling/enhance). It can go horribly wrong if the RDM, WHM or one of your DD/tanks dies, but yeah it is one of the easier BCNM ^^ I might do this because Leaping Lizzy is being horrible to me x.x 0/7 so far.

Ok i just did this run with some random guys doing shouts and we went 2/2

Party Set up
War/Nin (me) - first voke for tanking
War/Nin - back up tank for share vokeing casting utsusemi
Rdm/Nin - for kiting one lizzy til other is dead

Great easy run, had a lil problem with getting petrified, the whole thing about turning around didnt work for us. But all i can say is take out Kalamainu first (white lizzy on the right), and have RDM kite Kilioa (brown lizzy on the left). shouldnt need any high potions but always a safe bet to take a couple, and make sure rdm has yag drinks. other than that just take turns swaping hate and keep ur shadows up and you should be fine.

Great drops for our 2 runs as 1 person didnt have orb, first run leaping boots drop, 2nd run utsusemi: Ni drops. fun easy 350k runs.

Just curious, but can a BLU and BLM stand a chance duoing this? My cousin and I have quite a few seals to do this BCNM with, and wanted to duo it as Taru BLM, and Hume BLU. Our plan is ES Bind the White Lizard, while the BLU spams the Brown one, and the BLM will cast spell on the Brown one, as well.
After the Brown one dies, we will move on to the White Lizard, Taking it slower. Anybody think this will work?

The BLM will be /WHM
The BLU can go /NIN /WAR /WHM /SAM /THF

Liar.

But anyways, I just went in as rdm/blm with a mnk/war friend.

The only meds we brought were a pro-ether and an icarus wing.

I Protect II'ed us and aquaveiled and blinked myself, then rested to full as he stacked boosts.

He was supposed to open with a fully boosted combo, but he accidentally wasted the boosts on a normal hit. Still though, he started the fight off with a combo, then immediately used hundred fists.

All I did was keep grav/bind on the white lizard and keep the mnk cured. He had trouble keeping hate off of me because of the constant cure III's that I had to spam.

He didn't turn around for 2 petrifications during the fight...

We had the brown lizard down to about 30% before we wiped and I added up the damage in the logs to 1040. So the brown lizard has about 1500 hp.

I had used my pro ether when I ran out of mp.

If we had killed the brown one, I believe I could have bind/grav'ed the white one long enough to rest and allow us to win.

More meds, less screw-ups, and I believe this fight is duo'able by a mnk and a rdm.

My friend had recorded the first fight. I watched the video and apparently he did turn around, but he was still petrified.

We did the fight again, I came with a dagger, planning to do some enspell damage, but I only hit a few times throughout the whole fight. I would recommend not bothering with melee and focusing purely on curing and keeping the white lizard bound and grav'ed.

We brought plenty of hi pots this time. We killed the first lizard, then right when we think we're going to win, the white lizard petrified my friend. I was resting for mp, so I couldn't cure him, and he couldn't use hi pots. The lizard killed him, then made short work of me.

We plan to go one last time and I'll have a few hi ethers on me this time.

Went one last time. My mnk/war friend had 12 hi pots and an icarus wing. I had a pro ether, 5 hi ethers, and 2 hi pots.

Did the usual routine, I didn't bother with melee this time.

I decided to cast slow/para/dia/blind on the brown lizard, didn't help much.

We ran from the fight when I was out of mp and both of us had under 50 hp.

My outlook is severely changed on this fight. Can't be duo'ed without utsutsemi.

Just bring along a third person.

I have quit the game but the last thing i wanted to do before i logged out was duo this BCNM.

Went in me THF/NIN and my friend RDM/...don't know.

I had pretty much max EVA/RACC setup possible with
2x archers knifes
emp pin
those eva+3 earrings
AGI+2 rings
bounding boots
nomads mantle
noct +1 legs and body
and scentless armlets for like 26 eva and lots of racc.
used zamburak +1 and blind/bloody and acid bolts.

I went in and my friend bound the white lizard while i just popped a blind bolt and an acid bolt and just shot away with bloody bolts. With the eva i had the thing only hit once or twice and bloody bolts got that back no prob.
You just have to watch for the gaze and turn if you see them do any tp move.

same strat for the white lizard and this BCNM is eeeeeasily duod without twohours. Did two runs and no drop but hey, at least i found a good BCNM that THF can do. It's not the quickest, but if you can't get three people two is all you need.

was really fun

edit: foodwise i used a jackolantern and rdm used a melon pie. no drinks required for the RDM

Did three runs on this BCNM last night with two LS mates. Our setup was:
BLU/NIN
RDM/BLM
WAR/MNK (me: Eisen set for the +AGI/Vit, Rep. Subligar, Centurion's Axe, etc.)

We went 3/3 with only one death on the first run (I was petrified and couldn't take the hate back from the BLU) with one drop on the Boots and the Gun Belt being the only other notable drop.

The setup we had worked pretty well, and I think the /NIN, /NIN, RDM/? school of thought on this BCNM is a bit limiting. I'd say a RDM, a /NIN, and any capable DD should be able to handle this with few problems. I did the usual Berserk/Boost-spam/Dodge routine, the BLU spammed Bludgeon like it was his job, and the the RDM kited the other lizzy around until we finished up with ours. As for buffs: I used a Pear au Lait for every run, brought 6 hi-potions (only used 3) and only needed one plate of Sole Sushi for all three runs. BLU and RDM buffed with Rolanberry Pies and popped Yag drinks.

All in all, this was a very fun- and not particularly challenging- BCNM with the chance of some pretty decent drops. We missed the record on Remora last night by 42 seconds (our best time was 5:20) but we may try again to see if we can break it.

Did 7 runs (all successful) of this tonight with DRG/WHM(me), NIN/WAR, and RDM/BLM.

We went the recommended route. NIN tanked the brown lizard, I poured out as much damage as I could (+Dia and Healing Breath, though I don't think they were necessary in hindsight), and the RDM kited the grey one around. For the most part, this setup works out very well, most runs being very steady if everyone knows what they are doing.

Only close call we had was on the very last try when both Bind and Gravity wore within a few seconds of casting, almost killing the RDM. With Chainspell, he rebounded, cast bind and gravity, and got off a couple Drains on the one we were fighting.

As for drops, we were 2/7 on leaping boots and 1/7 on the gun belt. The other drops were mostly trash with spells and materials that sell for about 1k and a couple other belts. Our NIN, who was 0/46 on Lizzy, commented that this was a MUCH better, easier, less time consuming way of getting those boots, and I couldn't agree more.

Gob Chocolate no longer seems to give Lizard Killer. we did it tonight, two people had used chocolate and we didn't get a single proc of the killer effect. not one. out of the entire battle.

maybe hobgob chocolate does, but gob does not.

on a different note, i had some moderate success tonight with only one person having utsusemi, but it required au laits hi potions yag drinks and a hi-ether.

Did this 8 times last night as BLU/NIN, BLU/NIN, RDM/BLM and just slaughtered it. BLU get Lizard Killer by 30 which helps a ton in this fight and with two BLU Head Butting and Bludgeoning the first liz, the RDM doesn't even have to worry about them.

Our fight started like this:

The RDM Elemental Seal Bind the white liz while the two Blu engage the other. RDM then casts slow, paralyze, and dia on the brown liz. Blu do their thing and just attack the liz. We tried back tanking with two BLU and it was actually worse to do. BLU should melee and cast spells, because even if one of you gets stoned or silenced, a bludgeon will turn the mob so you can wait it out without death.

Meanwhile the RDM has it easy, between Bind and Grav you should never get hit or run out of mp. In fact, with seal, you can bind to bind and by then the first liz should be dead. Then just slow, paralyze, dia the white one while they wail on it and it's all over.

Set server record every run as we got better and better. Eventually getting it to just a few seconds over 4 minutes.

Paralyze works wonders on these rascals. They attack very fast, so I was hit them with Paralyze and Slow, and it did wonders for us.

We had a lot of success last night with this BCNM. I was the RDM/BLM (slightly higher INT for less resists on bind/gravity) and I had two melee DD's (NIN/RNG and DRG/NIN) with utsusemi access. We ate Goblin Chocolate (which gives the same lizard killer effect as hobgoblin chocolate), which really seemed to help out a lot. After the first run where we were getting our feet wet (which we won), neither of the melee's HP ever got in the orange. All the real danger in this one is on the RDM. Here's what I reccommend.

Start the battle with a buff session. Protect II, Shell, Blink, and Aquaveil. Rest to full MP. Eat food. Now, the RDM runs out along the right wall and casts Gravity (has a longer recast timer) on the white lizzy. As soon as the lizards aggro, they use secretion, which should give your melee's plenty of time to get the brown one's attention. Have the melee's lead the brown one to the far left and you lead the white one to the far right. Bind. Run to the far left and cast regen on everyone and cure if needed. Rest until the honkey unbinds (you'll have plenty of warning from the far side of the field with or without gravity), lead him back over and rebind.

Rinse and repeat.

Oh, and as a previous poster said, the very INSTANT that they start readying any special move, turn the @#%^ around.

Hope this helps someone =D

Tried this tonight with some DD who didn't have Utsusemi. There was myself (RDM/BLM with +15 INT from gear and then +4 INT from pie), a DRK/THF and a MNK/WAR. The theory was that the two DD could bounce hate back and forth, and the DRK/THF could put out an awful lot of damage as long as he could get a SA, which is why i had the MNK sub WAR. We wiped 3x. However, I DO think that it CAN be done without Utsusemi if you have a couple of people skilled at switching hate. We got the last lizard over half dead twice, and the first time it was totally botched. I used a Vampire Juice the first round (definatly reccomend over yag drinks if you can find/afford them), yag drinks the second and third and a rolanberry pie, and the melee's used chocolate (the chocolate only takes effect if you're meleeing the creature). I had two ethers on me just to be sure, but i never got below like 80 mp.

Here's what went wrong.

First round; We tried it like usual, I take the white one they take the brown one. The tank's 'voke macro wouldn't go off, so i got like 3/4 of my hp gone almost imediately (even with aquaviel up I got interrupted casting gravity with two wailing on me. Would have gone off sooner, but I didn't wait long enough after running to start casting). After they got hate under control, I bound the white one on the far right side and ran over to the left side to heal them. I was very busy healing, and had a lot of trouble balancing this with keeping the white one gravity'd/bound. I ended up drawing hate from having to use a Cure III on each of them and dieing since, at that very moment, they both got petrified. Neither of them really got turning around in time down.

Second Round; I tried a new strategy. This time, I went after the brown one. Initially, this seemed to be working better since the white one wasn't damaging the melees as much.... but, this is very important to note, the brown one seems to resist magic. Gravity/Bind were waring faster than I could recast them, which meant that not only was I getting pummled, I was unable to keep the melee's healed due to all the running back and forth. Still, we got the white one dead really fast, and they started in on the brown one. Again, I was forced to over-cure due to a TP attack that did over 100 damage to the tank followed by a crit, got hate, and, since voke wasn't up and the DRK was out of MP, died. still, they would have had it if not for an untimely 'voke on the MNK's end. There he was, in the red, with the DRK at full HP. the DRK is getting whacked, he has 2hr'd, the MNK has hundred fists up... he provokes at 69 hp, and is killed in two hits. I barely had enough time to get out the words (out loud, since we're in the same room) "you really shouldn't have done that..." to which he replied "I hit the wrong @#%^ing macro". So the MNK goes down right after 2hring, and the DRK soon follows. I think we had the brown one down to like 1/4 HP. So, we could have had it if not for that accidental 'voke.

Third Round; Encouraged by the success (relatively speaking) of the last battle, we tried the same strategy again. This one was lost mostly due to bad luck with partial resists of Gravity/Bind, but also because of another untimely provoke.

Keep in mind, this is as a Hume RDM/BLM with +19 INT. I couldn't have done anything more for preventing resists without a black neckerchef (or being Taru), and I'm not sure the extra +1 INT would be worth taking off my holy phial.

Reccomendations; If possible, get Utsusemi on both melee's. If not possible, practice trading hate first on some lower level monsters and turning around for TP attacks and all that, which shouldn't be a problem as long as you know the people you're doing it with. Melee's- chocolate (and if you can convince them to do it, an HP regen drink which will stack with the spell). Mage- Rolanberry Pie for the extra MP and INT boost and Vampire Juice/Yag Drink. If the melee's cannot get shadows, they need to have uber damage output. This battle is not won by killing the last lizard, its won by killing the first one without having to cure bomb. Finally, I would reccomend kiting the white one due to lower resists. That should about cover it... Good luck.

Go war/nin war/nin rdm/blm you can't go wrong, use Hobgoblin Choclate for food which gives resist petrify and lizard killer, the resist pet. doesn't work well in preventing petrify but you will notice petrify wears off alot faster. The lizard killer effect works great, about 30-40% of the time the lizards will be intimidated (sometimes more often, we had a lizard get intimidated about 10x in a row)
Have the RDM kite the white lizard, while tanks work on the brown one. the white one doesn't hit as hard as the brown one so you don't want your rdm getting their asses kicked, as no rdm close to the beginning = death.
I've gone 11 runs on this and we never wiped, we had lost the rdm once and the war once, both times it was because the 2 war's were both petrified, but we still won.
Dropped Utsusemi: Ni most of the time.. like 5 or 6/11 runs, and boots dropped twice, erase never dropped. But that's fine as the boots go for less than the scroll of Utsusemi: Ni now.

If any rdm or war wants to try out this BCNM on Remora send me a /tell on Ortage. I'm always up to do this bcnm cuz it's so easy :)

The redmage was able to kite EASILY, but some how at one point or another it all went to hell.
We only got close to killing both once, and always killed the brown one 1st.

I'm thinking now that I'm looking back that most of our failures started by someone being petrified...

I have done this BCNM succesfully 9/9 times with LS mate and friend. It is incredibly easy as:
THF/NIN(Me) - using utsu, bloody bolts (which proc the drain affect for 70 health a hit for me) and having good RACC+ gear on
DRG/WAR - just here to do dmg and lots of it
RDM/BLM - no special gear nothing fancy at all just has to know how to kite with bind and gravity which both stick almost every time.

we have gotten 2 boots and one gun belt which were only noticable drops really. I was just wondering for all who have done this what the drop rate of utsu: ni is on this and if they know of any other BCNMs that have a better drop rate for the scroll.

Well, I recently did 4 runs of this. Setup for both was;
THF/NIN (me)
BLM/WHM
RDM/BLM
The RDM and BLMs were different people each time.
I had 2x archers knifes, beetle rings +1 x2, and as much EVA gear i could get with RACC. The BLM would elemental seal + bind the white, the RDM would just plain bind the left. I would SA brown lizard, and begin spamming bloody bolts after landing an acid. RDM would debuff mine, then get ready to help BLM kite.
It probably took around 10-15 acid bolts to kill the brown one, and his ACC sucks, I did not get hit very much at all with my EVA. The white one is harder, but with both mages focusing on it with me it goes down easy.

Btw, i've done this BCNM a total of like 12 times, 8 sucsesses. The first 4 i did on DRK, no leaping boots dropped. The last 4, (only 2 worked because one person did not know what to do to kite, and another time the RDM was new to BCNMs, and ran in before we were in) and leaping boots dropped both times.

Who knows, because THF has the most use for the boots, maybe a THF is the key to helping get them. 2/2 seems a lot better than 0/4...idk about you.

When fighting lizards, don't be locked on. And turn around immediately is you see a "mob readies whatever" because it could be their petrifying move, and it is uneffective when your back is turned, because it is a gaze move.

That's all I have to say, good luck to anyone doing this.

i did this tonight pt was me thf/nin, pld/war and rdm/blu. this was super easy just brought a couple meat chiefkabobs and some potions but i only used 2 in the 3 times we did it, and the pld and rdm used yag drinks. we were just experimenting with these jobs and it worked out really good for some reason. we started out with buffs then pld would provoke one and i would sneak attack it while the rdm would kite the other one till we were finished killing the other one, then we moved to the other one and killed it done, so easy. but sadly no boots this time.

This BCNM is a joke. PLD/WAR BLM/WHM RDM/NIN. Got boots on 1st run. 2 dispels on the next 2 runs. Not a lot of money to be made unless you get the boots to drop, but fun and simple to say the least. Basically all you need is a tank and a rdm to kite. the 3rd job can be anything to deal dmg.

Don't do this BCNM on Iceday if you want your Gravities to wear off after 5 seconds.

2x BLU/NIN and RDM/NIN makes this a breeze, though. I try not to do it with any other combo. It's just too easy. Got Leaping Boots off my first run :P

i just did this like 5 times last nite and 9 times in total, setup was always BLU/NIN x2, and RDM/BLM (me), all in all its very easy, the blu's just nuke the left lizard (brown i think) w/ head butt and bludgeon, while keeping their backs turned and keeping utsusemi up, he went down in less than 3mins, i'm still kiting the white one w/ gravity and the occasional elemental seal+ bind, after the first went down, they rested up and beat on the second one. i prolly used 4 emergency cures in all of our tries, but i've nvr really been low on mp nor did I NEED to use a yag drink, elvaan low mp ftw^^. Current record holder in Bismarck. the only decent drops we got were Gun Belt, Sarashi, Cestes belt, an Erase (YES ERASE DROPS FROM THESE GUYS^^). very easy, but still waiting on leaping boots O_O;

Hello weve finished this BCNM 5/7 the loses we had being our first 2 attempts were my fault on explaining how the fight goes to my friends. so we completed this with a NIN/WAR DRK/WAR(me) RDM/BLM ninja was even gimped 29/14. battle starts as every one says go in buff up! iv been lvling cooking so i supplied the food. The ninja and I used Jack-o-lanterns (HELPS A TON! i dodge probably about 5 attacks from jus evasion alone). lol i didnt have much for mage a kazham pinnaple and all the pinnapple juice he could drink.

so after buffs rest til full. then ninja and dark take the left side and rdm up the middle. Just before we get in range i use berserk and then ninja provokes. RDM elemental seal binds the lizard on the right and casts all the debuffs on the lizard we are fighting. after he debuffs our lizard he casts Gravity on his and starts kiting like crazy. throwing cures every now and then to the ninja, and to me when i pulled hate. i was hitting for about 80-110 and i only miss the lizard were fighting about 2-3 times each time we have done this.

ok now what gives dark knights a fighting chance at this BCNM? BIND! i have my enffeblement magic capped and if the RDM needs MP and cant get a spell off i can Bind the White lizard hes kiting and he can rest(iv bound him every single time hes never resisted my bind). after we finish off the lizard on the left. i would bind the white lizard while ninja provokes just to take hate so me and RDM can rest. we switch between bind's while he works in gravity and i drain from time to time(being Galka i have 53Mp but juice is good). ok once full have everyone engauge the lizard(enblizzard rdm) this is where Paralyze comes in the best use. when the lizard gets low it apparently gets some sort of haste and double attacks like a mad lizard! I only pop souleater if i have no hate or if the lizard petrifies the ninja, in that case i need to get my attention! and i dont want to provoke cuz petrify can break at any moment and i dont want to have the lizard stuck on me.

Notes to dark knights attempting this- have enfeeblement capped once you take out the first lizard the BCNM is really in the bag! we used shadow of death >> blade teki for fragmentation on the first lizard. once the lizard is dead head over and help Bind the lizard so your mage can rest til full. if you ever pull hate (on either lizard) TAKE OFF BERSERK IMMEDIATLY! if you attack again and hes still on you turn away from him and cast some spells (bio/drain) you dont want to pile any more hate because they hit for about 40-55 each hit and they attack quite fast.

total items consumed
hi-potionx1-2 (for ninja) 800 a piece
jack o lanterns x2 (Me and NIN) 8,000 a piece
Kazham Pinapple (lol yea this is really cheap food but hey 3 int)55 a piece
Pinapple Juice x3 (lol RDM said this stuff sucked but hey it was free cant argue with that if we got it done)
hi-ether some times they go on critcal streaks and the RDM will have to pop one of these)

just got done doing this 6/6 times. we had rdm/whm(me), and 2 war/nin. we are from the same ls, and all 3 of us did it for the first time. the fight is pretty easy, it went like this:

Pre-battle prep. war need defence food (maybe Hi-Potions if u are worried but we didnt need, rdm needs any of the pie foods and 2 pineapple/yag drinks per attemp, again Hi-Ether if you are worried but not needed.

-walk in and buff (rdm protect 2 on all 3, rdm blink, war utsusemi, rdm eat pie, war eat def food, rdm rest while wars wait on mp, then rdm uses juice)

-when ready rdm gravity the right one (white/greyish) while the wars voke the left (brown) one.

-rdm runs away and paralyzes/dia the brown one the wars are fighting. (helps alot, keep them up until its dead, pretty easy to do)

-wars just trade hate after shadows/vokes and do defender when the lizzy does pertrify. (turning away usually doesnt work and is a pain)

-rdm kiting is easy, never done it before until now. do gravity and run to one corner, here you have a few choices. heal the wars, Cure II or regen, recast blink on yourself, or enfeeble. also make a macro before the battle that has /recast "Gravity" and /recast "Bind" on it. this way you know when to do them. when gravity has about 15 left on timer, cast bind. (if it fails hopefully gravity stays on for 15 more seconds and recast it, your blink shadows will help) then bind again, after u can recast blink and repeat. remember 3 things though when kiting. keep an eye on brown lizzy hp/paralyze/dia effects. dont recast gravity if it hasnt worn off, this screws you over badly. and finally keep blink up. youll also have to drink another juice mid battle, this is needed. kiting is the hardest part and its not even that tough.

-when the brown on dies, the wars voke, and rdm parayles/dias, heals if needed and then rests. getting up only when the wars are hurt and rdm has enough mp, nows the time to do divine seal and cure II on a war. repeat, heal/resting until dead lizzy.

-wars repeat the beginning war strategy above and its over

like i said 6/6 times, we are also doing it 6 more times tomorrow. the drops were crap. 10k runs, with one run giving sarashi which sells for 300k. hopefully better luck tomorrow.

*an addtional note, you dont NEED war/nin, you can really pull it off with many combos, just adjust the strategy a bit. a blu tank or pld could easily work very well, use juices for them and they can pretty much heal them selves. drg do great damage at this lvl and bst can use tiger pets with /nin for damage. its really endless, just need a decent rdm. ^^

EDIT: i forgot to add with war/nin and rdm you can do a WS-MB that does half a lizzys life. Raging Axe > Raging Axe > MB with Aero, very usefull. try to find a MB with aero or blizzard as they are weak to these ones.

good luck everyone, hope i helped.

Basically ill describe exactally what ur suppose to do and u only ok keef? this is what i did as rdm. got in, protect2 on all 3, cast blink, used pie, healed up, when we was ready go for the lizard on the right, let the melees take the left one, Gravity it first. all kiteing is, basically is when u have it gravity just run around away from it so it doesn't hit u. just stay away from it, now gravity has a decent cooldown so keep checking how long u got left on it but when ur gravity has like 15 seconds left on cooldown, cast bind. and if bind doesn't stick keep running, but if u see the lizard get out of gravity just start recasting blink, so by the time he kills all ur shadows ur blink should recast and u get another 3 , so by the time he kills all 6 shadows from blink by then u should have gravity back , u might take like 2-3 hits at most im guessing , just a guess pends on how fast u are with the keyboard/controller ect. just keep running around the whole battlefield away from the lizard u have grav on, and make sure u keep blink up and always keep like 3-4 yag drinks with u, 1 per fight but just incase u might need more then 1 during one of the battles u will atleast have an extra. and toss ocasional cure2-3s or regens on the melees, they should have more then enough hate that even a cure 3 or in my case even a divine seal cure 3 wouldn't pull it off them. you CAN use whm sub to this and i do suggest it for the fact of u will atleast get that 1 nice Divine seal cure 3 heal each fight that u more then likely will need. Gravity is all u need this battle, bind is just there to make sure gravity comes back from it's cooldown for sure, due to lizards normally get out of gravity, like 7-10 seconds before cooldown is gone. Blm sub really doesn't help too much, so no use to really sub it, divine seal is more worth the elemental seal and int bonus, the bonus mnd and divine will be the benefit in the longrun of this bcnm

Used time proven method 1 RDM/BLM, 2x WAR/NIN

Incredibly easy using the method as so many have already described.

Drops were...

    1st fight

Lizard skin
Rapier belt
Iron Ingot
Absorb-AGI

    2nd fight

Lizard skin
Scythe belt
Iron Ore
Absorb-AGI (again)

Hoping each to get a pair of leaping boots (so thats 3 in total) within say.. 10 fights although that will be going some :D.

Gonna have another go tomorrow as we had to log before fight 3, then we will do another complete run again. I'll post what else we get.

Well my set up was - War/nin , Mnk/war , Rdm/whm ( me)

Basically the 2 melees took whatever food and some hp regen food.
I took rolan pies and like 3-4 yag drinks.

2 melees went over to get the left lizard i graviy the right lizard. basically long as the rdm makes sure the lizard he has keeps grav on it u should be fine, what i did was, Gravity,.. ran around , every 10-15 sec into grav being on the mob i would cast bind, if bind didn't stick, i still run around, but once grav wears off, if i can't recast it i would just start right away to recast blink , that should give u enough time till grav is back up. then ocasional cure 2-3s on the melees, and blind spell on the other lizard they fighting, and u should be fine. i beat this 3 times so far like 3/3 only almost lost once due to the lack of team work during a first run but that was between the 2 melees.

First drop was Leaping boots, gun belt and rest was useless like 10k and below items. I made basically almost 3 mil with just 1 run.

Okay so I just did this yesterday with some friends and Ls mates. We had a war/nin Aegon, blu/nin Ziuh, rdm/nin Claud, and war/mnk me. The 1st fight we had another rdm/nin go in and it went horribly wrong, nothing stuck and we died.

Then the 2nd fight was me, the blu and rdm. rdm gravity/bind the white wone and paralize/blind the brown one while blu used metalic body, cocoon, and headbutt when shadows droped. It was fairly easy, we went 5 times, switching out people when needed. Aegon went to get a second orb. we won 3/5.

Our drops were Gunbelt (1.4mil) Leaping Boots (1mil) Sarashi (450k) and mace belt (like 10k) lol. so we divided by 4 and everyone gets like 700k a peice, pretty good imo

I know your post is old, but "maybe" you'll check it.
I would say BLU/NINx2 can not solo this.

Why? You ask? Simple. BLU Evasion is not great, and even with full evasion setup these lizards will rip your shadows. Once your shadows are gone, they will be hitting you HARD!!! I take about 50-60 damage per hit as THF, and a BLU would probably take 40-50.

That's not the only reason though, the only way a BLU will have a good chance at soloing his/her lizard, is by spamming your magic. But the problem with this is your mp. There lizards have lots of HP, and you will run out of mp, even with drinks.

And lastly, what happens if you are in desperate need of mp and need to rest?
Sleep spells are USELESS on these lizards, so you're screwed there.

IMO, the only job that can duo this w/o 2-hour (to all you SMN fanatics...) is THF/NIN, with as much EVA gear as possible.

I don't even have emp pin, but when I did this the lizards had a hard time hitting me with about 26 EVA. Plus, even if they did get past shadows, bloody bolts get a lot back, and I have Shadowstitch to bind them.

I soloed the brown lizard NP, but the white one is harder.
A THF and a kiter could probably solo this, but it'd still be tough.

I went as a PLD/WAR the other day. My race was mithra. The equipment I used was Centurion's Sword, Kite Shield,

Fortune Egg, Kamp gear for head, body, legs, and feet, Mithra RSE hands, 2 Stamina Rings, 2 Energy Earrings,

Spike Necklace, Warrior's Belt +1, and Breath Mantle. I used Boiled Crab for food. The damage i was taking

while blocking with my shield was 15-25 damage, and for not blocking i was taking around 25-40 damage.

As Mithra and having 1 merit in evasion i was able to evade a nice amount of attacks as well. All my

combat skills were capped so i did parry a decent about of times as well. Also when we fought the RDM

kited the brown lizzard while the THF/NIN and i took down the withe lizzard with no problem.

Did this BCNM over the weekend with a couple of my LS members.

Here was the setup:

Blu/rdm (me)^^
Blu/nin
Rdm/nin

We went in and buffed up, rdm casted protectII and Shell on us. While we cocooned and metalic bodied ourselfs, we all ate a rolanberry pie and Healed MP until full.

Now we're ready to start the fight. I pop open my Yagudo Drink and gulff it down. The Rdm Binds/Gravity the white lizzy and gets ready to Kite, while me and the other Blu focus on the brown one. Baisically our whole strategy was to HeadButt and Bludgeon the heck of it. Which we did and it went down pretty quick. Once the Brown Lizzy went down for the count we did a couple Pollens and then set out to Destroy the White Lizzy. Rdm at that point Heals MP and cures accordingly.

Easy fight each time. We did it 3x so far we're 1/3 on the boots. :o)

Well I hope this post helped some.

P.S Blue Mage ROCKS!!!

Done this BCNM a total of 7 times, each time set up of 2 WAR/NIN and me RDM/NIN, go in buff, Bind/Gravity white lizzy, paralyze/slow/blind brown lizzy (paralyze sticks and effects alot >.>). I kite white, and bind it away from WAR/NIN and heal them until bind wears off, always keep gravity on >.> and remeber to reboost shadows as it hits damm hard and can double attack, try to focus on kiteing even if the WARs lose a bit of heath and start whineing.

Drops are good out of the 3 orbs in each run, we have gotten a good drop 1/3 time, its made me about 2.6 mil Fairy server, fun and easy BCNM and hold the record of 7 min 10 seconds xD

probly best off with just doing it with freinds as your bacailly going to get a good drop out of the 3 runs iv found, because if your unlucky to get a crap run on your orb 10k (You Can Have This)

GREAT BST STRATEGY!!!

SETUP:
bst/nin
bst/nin
rdm/nin

Strategy:
This is like the dual war/nin plus rdm/nin kiting method but ALOT easyer and less risky, the only problem is finding another bst to do it with ><.

When you get in do not move, Bsts need to call a carrie ASAP, then rdm buffs and everyone uses uts<tab>...the shadow spell ><, anyways once you buff up and heal to full rdm casts gravity on the white lizzy and kites it while the the bst send the pets to attack the brown lizzy, you should attack it but make sure carrie keeps hate, turn around if your making too much hate, but you do have a nice little uts<tab> buffer so its not too hard. you should fight unlocked and turn arouns asap when you see any special tp move from the lizzys. use reward when apropreate if you want, just makes things simpler. once you kill the first lizzy you kill the 2nd one with the same strategy but the rdm can now heal and you can go all out attack. If a carrie dies i recomend for your seccond pet you call a tiger.

My drops yesterday was the boots, mith ore, iron ingot then random crap, im 1/3 to my hauby ^^. other party members wernt as lucky /comfort.

Dont you just love bst being good at everything :D.

We just did this 5x tonight... with 5 people: RDM/BLM (Me), a team of PLD/WAR (veteran PLD) and SAM/WAR, and a team of PLD/WAR (not as good PLD) and RNG/WAR.

Easy as pie, though we had a couple of close calls. Zone in, I'd Protect II everyone, Aquaviel, and Blink, then rest to full. I kited the white one, while they beat on the brown one. Kiting as RDM is fun and easy and gives time to rest/help heal/debuff, so it wasn't too difficult.

First run: crap
Second run: Leaping Boots (2 mil) and Sarashi (450k) :D
Third run: Sarashi (450k) :D
Fourth run: Avatar Belt (500k) :D
Fifth run: crap

so awesome drops, too bad we're splitting them evenly 5 way (I say I should get 1/3 of the gil, and everyone else should get 1/6, but they won't go for that :P)

So we did this bcnm 6x tonight. The setup was NIN/WAR, WAR/NIN, RDM/WHM

The RDM kited the brown lizard while the NIN and I dual tanked the white lizard. Once the white one was down we pulled the brown one over and started into it.

We of course had all the requisite potions and foods. I even gave the RDM a couple of ethers to speed up the last two fights a bit.

Overall we went 4/6. The first wipe was my fault as I went into the BC with level 34 swords. The second went well except the RDM eventually ran out of mp and we couldnt kill the second one fast enough. After those first two runs we went 4/4.

All in all, no drops worth more then 10k. In fact we had the same drop list back to back at one point. Sardonyx, lizard skin, steel ingot and beetle broth... So the fights were mostly successfull but the run cost me a lot more then I made.

Anyone know if 2 BLU/WHM would be able to duo these with Lizard Killer and Paralyze?
