Summary

You are to escort Aphmau to Mamook on her mission to recover Ovjang. Will you find the automaton in the land of the savage Mamool Ja?

Walkthrough

Take the Runic Portal from Aht Urhgan Whitegate out to the Mamool Ja Staging Point. From there, head northwest and follow the path to the Jade Sepulcher at (H-9). Once there, click on the Ornamental Door for a cutscene.

After the cutscene, click on the door again to trigger a BCNM fight against Lancelord Gaheel Ja. The fight has a 30 minute time limit.

Beating the NM gives a cutscene to complete the mission.

BCNM Details

Lancelord Gaheel Ja is a paladin mob that uses standard paladin moves. Other moves the NM uses are:

  • Blazing Angon: An AoE fire-based knockback move that ignores shadows and will give a Burn effect to anyone who gets hit.
  • Granite Skin: Stoneskin that cannot be dispelled

Other tips/details about this battle:

  • Use barfira to minimize damage from Blazing Angon.
  • The NM will randomly switch hate during the fight. You can tell who has hate because the NM will taunt the player in /say.
  • The NM hits for more damage as it gets weaker, starting around 50 percent.
  • A balanced party of 75s can win this easily.

Duo
# Nov 18 2008 at 8:49 PM Rating: Decent

Me and a friend was doing nothing and thought we would try duo this for some fun.
We was very suprised that we actually got it to 15~%

we went as me on drg/whm (Vise) and friend sam/dnc (Faline)

all we did was bounce hate as much as posible and when we got 300TP Angon Tachi: Gekko > Impulse Drive > Darkness which did pretty nice damage to it.

not much help really because we didnt beat it duo but we will be going back with a 3rd to finish it as its really not a hard fight, just hits too hard and fast under 50% for me to spam healing breath and do damage
MNK tank

Just did this fight a while back with me tanking as MNK/NIN. Put on HP gear and used Mantra/Invigorate, had 2k+ HP to work with. Open up with HFists and put on Counterstance, probably took out almost half his bar by the time it was over with. He hits hard, like 200+ but it's a short fight if done with the right gear, died at 10% but party finished him off.

Solo Possible?
# Mar 14 2008 at 10:53 AM Rating: Default
A few of the Fights in ToAU have been solo friendly to me as a RDM/NIN or RDM/BLM, especially the shade in Caedarva and the Khimera 13 BCNM (although an npc dmg's it for you). I heard Shades of Peril, the lamias for 31 were possibly soloable, but I haven't seen anything for this. With his high defense I'm not sure if it's even feasible to attempt the solo on this. If there's a strategy, could you point me in its direction? If not, I'll attempt the solo, but I don't think it'll work cause of his regen and the fact that I'll be taking hits from 2 things, so shadows will go down fairly fast.

his mob is a little tougher than what the guide says. for a nin tank has to be carefull, not only does the pet attack, but so does the mamool. and they are considered 1 mob so you cant sleep the "pet" because hes riding on it.

i did however not take any damage until about 50% then it started using different moves. it was frely easy. i was with 4 people. me nin/war another nin who forgot to change sub so nin/blm a smn/whm (he died unfortunatly due to the NM's stupid "im gonna kill whoever i want at random times" thing) and a rdm/whm.

we got it to 17% before wipe. NM has a ton of freaking defence. now the guide says he uses stoneskin. the trick with this i found was that hes invulnerable from the front but takes damage when your behind him when he uses it.
