Mission Orders

Prince Trion seeks an adventurer. Find the prince in his chamber to learn more.

Walkthrough

Accept the mission from any gate guard, then head to Prince Trion's chambers in Chateau d'Oraguille. Prince Trion asks you to find King Ranperre's true burial place.

Head to (H-8) in King Ranperre's Tomb where you will find a large door. Examine the door and 3 NM Skeletons (Corrupted Ulbrig, Corrupted Soffeil, and Corrupted Yorgos) will spawn. These skeletons are not particularly easy, but you should have no trouble with a 12-member alliance of level 60 players. That said, an 18-member alliance will make things easier because each party can battle one of the skeletons. The skeletons can use Sleepga, so make sure that your mages are out of range of that AoE.

Once you have defeated the NMs, target the door again, and you will be given the option to pass through. Pass through, and you will find a tombstone. Examine the tombstone, and you will receive a cutscene and a key item (Ancient San d'Orian Book). Return to San d'Oria and talk to any of the mission guards. They will tell you that the book will need to be deciphered, and will ask you to come back at a later time. Wait until after Japanese Midnight, and return to the gate guard, then head to Prince Trion's chambers for another cutscene.

Head back to the door at (H-8) in King Ranperre's Tomb and pass through it again for another cutscene (there is no battle when targeting the door this time). Once the cutscene is over, return to the gate guard to receive Rank 7 and 20,000 gil.

I spent about two hours trying to get a group together to do this fight and eventually we went with:

RDM59/BLM29, PLD73/WAR36, BLM58/WHM29, RDM50/THF15 (had been farming), NIN60/WAR30.

This was the easiest fight I have ever done in this game. I agree with the previous comments in saying I hope I never party with the people who originally made that description!
I simply cast Sneak and activated the NMs, and the PLD voke'd one towards our muster out of aggro and spell range. Whilst we were fighting the first NM, the other two depopped. After the first died, I simply walked over to the door and the fight was done. It's THAT easy.
hahaha

Just finished the fight with 60+RDM/BLM, 62WHM/BLM, 71WAR/NIN, 63WHM/BLM, 71WHM/BLM, 60DRK/WHM, 56PLD/WAR, and 72PLD/WAR. We sneak pulled the Corrupted Soffeil, died in about 5 minutes easily, and the rest despawned :)

thats a video of me, a 75thief with my level 40npc taking it. Long video, but the fight ends up very close at the end. Quality is ****** since youtube and google videos both suck ***, but its worth a watch if you wanna know how hard it is.

Ok i just duoed this with for a friend blm/whm 66 as drg/whm 75(me). With bourdonasse (blunt type polearm) it was a piece of cake , and evry 75 drg can solo this easy. Blm only did paralyze and 2 thunder III.
We only pulled the middle one and by the time we finished the other 2 despawned and the blm got his cs and the book.
easy fight
# Jul 12 2006 at 8:33 AM Rating: Decent
This fight is alot easier then some people want us to believe (12-18 people???)

We did this with 3 people:
71 DRG (me)
72 SAM
75 RDM

Sneak pulled the middle skele, killed it without any problems
Sneak pulled the 2nd one, same as before, no problem
The last despawned,so the door was free after 2 easy kills.
Piece of cake

That was our setup: mnk 75, mnk 72, whm 72, whm 68, rdm 70, me rdm 62, sam 60, drk 48, smn 64.

Formed 2 ptys, in each 1 mnk, rdm, whm. Killed the bones that spawn there for tp. We had our smn sneak+ Carby pull. Each of the skeletons didnt last for more than 10 seconds. They fell so fast, if they have Sleepga, they didnt have a chance to cast it. If you deal with them one by one they're sooo easy...
Easy (^_^)

me and my friends, wanted to get this done, we completed this with 3 people.

65PLD/WAR
65DRK/WAR
69BLM/WHM

and it was easy (no one was forced to use 2 hour move), whoever says you need 12-18 people, must have been doing something wrong, lol, I would hate to party with them :p

Why is Alla always saying you should have an alliance of 12-18 people? They say that about everything!

You need an actual alliance for VERY little in this game and this mission is not one of them.

Because these posts are very old and lil tricks like spawning it while sneaked to only pull one werent around, and also it often refers to the days when finding high lvl help wasnt easy, so groups were lvl 50-60.

I went to do this mission yesterday and took the word of a friend that I could solo this mission. Even though leary at first this is what I did.

1. Subbed my 73 Whm with my 20 Nin: 939 HP/800 MP
2. Cleared the area of all other bones.
3. Cast Haste, Aquaviel, Blink & Stoneskin
4. Snuck myself
5. Clicked on door, moved back to none aggro area.
6. Stepped forward, dia'd right NM and stepped back to draw him to me.
7. Waited till HP as low yellow, cast Divine Seal + Curaga II.
8. Waited till HP was low yellow, Benediction.
9. Focused rest of MP for cures until fight was over.

The other two NM's despawned while I was fighting the other so only had to fight one. Clicked on door and got through. :)

You do not need a huge party to kill this unless you are all very lower lvl's under 50's and want to fight all three. Even a party of two 60+ can kill this as long as you sneak pull and stay back out of aggro of the other two and focus on killing only 1 and let the other 2 despawn. If a melee goes and brings a mage to keep you healed, have the mage take a poison potion at beginning of fight so that if he gets slept, it'll keep him awake. :)

Goodluck!

73 thf/nin. Used silent oil, touched the door, pulled the center skeleton.

NPC lvl 56, soothing healer, cast cure IV on me twice and a Cure II before running out of MP.

i was down to @ 300 hp by the end of the fight. Dagger vs. bones....ugh. Would hit me for 60-85, and over 100 on special attacks. I was hitting for teens and low 20's. Special attack removes shadows.

Other 2 skeletons despawned during the fight. Once center one was dead, no problems going in and getting the key item.

Anyway, I woulda been dead w/o the NPC healer. At 74 with Ni, probably would be no contest. A party of 60's I think would be fine for this.

And The NM is:

Just did this two days ago with an 8 memeber alliance. We had read the post's on various sites and decided to try the sneak/pull method. Worked like a charm. First time we pulled the middle mob "Corrupted Soffiel". He went down so fast it wasn't funny. We let the other two mobs despawn then everyone runs to check the door. "a heavy stone door". So we have a discussion and decide to pull them one at a time and kill them all. 15 mins later we pull "Corrupted Ulbrig" he too goes down with little resitance, so we hurry up and pull the only mob we haven't fought yet, "Corrupted Yorgos". He gaves us quite a bit more challange to take down, but eventually he fell too. At this point Soffiel had already despawned, so we all ran to the door to check it. CS /cheer. Well anyways; there's my expierince, hopefully it helps. Also As mentioned in other posts, The NM's spawn @ the "Heavy stone door" in the north wall of the room @ (H-8)(1st map), not in the area where "Cemetary Cherry" spawns, as some sites have shown.

Hello; I just read all the posts here, and no one said anything about this. I dont think im the only one. Maybe you all just didnt ntice it. The Guide says you get Rank 7 and 20,000 gil, but I got 40,000 gil. Did everyone else get 40,000 to and this is just wrong?

ok well solo'd this as a 71pld/war was really fun, got down to the wire! won with 80hp left, so basically a bit of luck on my side. Had standard pld gear. Herc. ring helped out; food was: taco, and a couple of yag drinks. Fight lasted for about 10mins. All in all i would say i had some luck on my side. Again, like people have been saying, use sneak, pop nms, pull middle one. get it far enough away so that other skele nms, don't blood aggro... don't know if they do...didn't want to find out. after you kill the one dude, others will have de-spawned and you walk right in.

just got the one with the club down to 1%. I couldn't even see its health! I ******* died and i'm really pissed off. Had to use one yag drink and the fight lasted at least 15 min. (70rdm/blm) I will have my revenge!

ok beat him! This time I used 2 yag drinks and a fish kabob. Went much smoother. Gotta make sure Stoneskin AND phalanx are up(makes SS last much longer).

just soloed this as 67 SMN only using carby
sneaked up, popped, and assulted one
carby did twice as much melee dmg than the skele NM
altho its nukes did take out half of carby's HP (and Flood one shotted him down)was a very easy fight
after few summon/meteorite it went down
rested up to full, went back to spawn point to realize the other two despawned
so i checked the door for the heck of it, and boom, it opened lol
so yeah, basically took down one and got mission done ^^
Quite Simple

Ok let me make this simple: You don't have to kill all 3 skeles to get through the door and you don't need an alliance to win. I won this easily with a 6 person pty (WHM x2, THF, PLD, RDM, and one other I forget) Lvl range was between 55-70...high enough to avoid all aggro on the way to the Door.

Step #1 THF/NIN sneak pulled the middle skele, we killed it easily while the other 2 skeles just stood by the door.

Step #2 THF/NIN then pulled the right skele, we killed easily and while fighting it the 3rd skele despawned. No probs, you don't have to kill them all.

Step #3 once the others despawn, run through the door, get book, escape out, BAM...DONE. WHM MP never got below 70%. HP never got to yellow on anyone.

The only way I can see this going badly is if your pty is underlevelled OR you try and kill all 3 skeles at once, but, since that is totally unnecessary, just sneak pull the middle one and let the other(s) despawn like we did. Worked out great.
A tale of too many drgs

So me and a bunch of my friends decide time to rank up! We are rank 6 and wanted to do 6-1 long story short we shouted found some help bam dead cactaur. Then one says Nikeah check on 6-2. Of course being a good little drk I do. After a few minutes of contemplation I decide lets do it! Just follow my lead. At this point the pt is 61drk/thf (me), 59 drg/war, 60 drg/war, 61 drg/whm and 61 sam/war. Shoulda got owned right. Well after work the logistics of getting the mission (tellin my friend to trade crystals to get rank points) my buddy logs on (50rdm/blm) I tell him to go to King Ranperres Tomb. Bam. Now we sneak spawn and I pull a mage. 300 TP Guillotine, mage doesn't even think of casting the whole fight. Penta Thrust -> Skewer = Transfixion. After about 1.5 minutes the mob is dead. Others have despawned bam. We get our book. Come out to see our rdm buddy gettin mauled by skeles (he was only rank 5 couldn't do the mission with us..but decided to help neway) Polish em off send the rdm warpin home. Bam rank 7. Easy mission

As long as you're in the 60s, you can solo this as a BST. Head to the undergound high-lvl area of KRT, go to H-8 there, up the steps, and 2hr a beetle (they should be level ~66), take it back up and to the NM door. Sneak up, pull the middle guy, and go to work on him. With pet food, the beetle will easily tank the whole fight and keep hate, and you can melee alongside.

Have fun ^^
RE: BST
# Dec 22 2005 at 3:20 PM Rating: Default
I soloed this last night as 65 BST. I used an EM beetle from the spot mentioned above. I meleed the whole time, but the mob (the middle, non-mage one) still had about 5-10% life when the beetle died (of course I used pet food). So I broke out a Carrie, and kept beating on the mob after my Rampage came nowhere near killing it. Barely won with ~200 HP left. Fun :D
Solo'd as RDM66/NIN33

...but having done it, I feel it could have been done with BLM sub. Next person in my LS that needs it, I'll give BLM sub a try and re-post here with results.

1) Yes, you can sneak-spawn them.
2) Yes, you can pull one if you're far enough away and they won't link (skeletons normally don't link anyway). I pulled one with Dia and the others did not link.
3) Yes, you only have to kill one to get through the door (I chose the non-magic one, which is the one wielding the club and shield).
4) There seems to be no time limit; I pulled it into the narrow tunnel and it took me about 15 minutes to kill it using 2 swords (R.G. Fleuret and W.W. Anelace). Having done it, I see now that pulling it into the tunnel was unnecessary; just keep it far enough away from the other two that should your HP drop into yellow, they won't smell your blood and come a-runnin'.
5) I ate a tavnazian taco and it hit me, a Tarutaru RDM 66, with phalanx and protect 4 on, for an average 35 HP damage, 49 was the highest.

With NIN sub, I only recast utsusemi when stoneskin wore, so that I could have plenty of time to recast stoneskin and not get interrupted. Otherwise, I didn't bother using utsusemi after I saw how weak its hits were. I had Slow/Paralyze/Blind stuck on the skeleton at all times. I used Enfire and Blaze Spikes, but no DoT spells. Overall, I was really disappointed with how weak it was when people posting here were saying they brought alliances to fight them.

Folks, don't waste your time with the scythe-wielding magic skeletons. Pull the club one, you don't even need a SMN to pull, just be far enough away to not aggro the others, and beat it into a pile of bone chips. Just make SURE you do whatever you need to in order to keep that club skeleton "alive" until the other two skeletons despawn. Kite it, bind it, whatever, but do NOT kill it until the other two despawn.

sm 6-2
# Nov 15 2005 at 9:22 AM Rating: Decent
I finally got to do 6-1 and this mission lastnight with 11 other ppl. 6-1 was a cakewalk in the park but this one was kind of a mess.

When we got to H-8 in KRT, i decided to pop it seeing as i was the only 75 in the alliance. i had sneak on, pop the Nms, run back then provoke the middle skelly. we quickly disasembled his bones and i decided to let the other 2 despawn as the infos here say.

unfortunately none of us could pass thru the door. so there were some blaming on my part for not wanting to pull all 3NMs...thx to the Taru RDM ^.^v

after a few minuets of jabberings i decided to zone into E.ronfaur and try to pop the NMs again, but just as i was about to zone the rdm decided to escape himself and 3other members that were close to him and by which time a member in the alliance for some reason had pop the NMs again without sneak on.

so the NMs aggroed and proceeded to obliterate those that were nearby. about half the ppl in the alliance were kissing the ground when i ran back to the door. i quickly pulled one of the skellies knowing they aren't too tough.

beeing a 75nin, i had no trouble tanking these. the skelly was only able to hit me every 1/10hits. so a 63war and i proceeded to pound the NM while one of the whm R2 those that were still kissing the floor. by the time we killed it the other 2NMs had already despawn and we were able to get thru the door this time.

so if you're doing this mission, i suggest you sneak before poping the NMs and give them some times before pulling one so that the other 2NMs would despawn before you killed the pulled one giving you access thru the door.

i'm not 100% sure on this...although we are granted access inside the door this way but on a second try.

I just did this last night with myself (69rng/nin), a 69pld, 61smn and 75nin...and even then everything beyond the 75nin was either sneak support or also needed the mission.

We cleared the small room in front of the door of various low level skeletons first, just to avoid any annoying links during the NM fight. We setup "camp" at the end of the small room opposite the NM trigger door, and the smn gave me a sneak. Triggered the NMs, and walked back to camp without aggro. The ninja then went and pulled one of the three NMs back to the camp spot, link-free. We beat this one to a pulp, during which time the two unclaimed NMs at the door despawned. Walk back to the door, and you're done...no need to fight all three NMs.

No need for alliances or 12 man parties of lvl 60+...unless for some reason you specifically want to fight the mobs. Being a ranger, I can't hit skeletons for $%#@, so the fewer of them I have to fight the happier I am.
