Mission Orders

Prince Trion seeks an adventurer. Find the prince in his chamber to learn more.

Walkthrough

Accept the mission from any gate guard, then head to Prince Trion's chambers in Chateau d'Oraguille. Prince Trion asks you to find King Ranperre's true burial place.

Head to (H-8) in King Ranperre's Tomb where you will find a large door. Examine the door and 3 NM Skeletons (Corrupted Ulbrig, Corrupted Soffeil, and Corrupted Yorgos) will spawn. These skeletons are not particularly easy, but you should have no trouble with a 12-member alliance of level 60 players. That said, an 18-member alliance will make things easier because each party can battle one of the skeletons. The skeletons can use Sleepga, so make sure that your mages are out of range of that AoE.

Once you have defeated the NMs, target the door again, and you will be given the option to pass through. Pass through, and you will find a tombstone. Examine the tombstone, and you will receive a cutscene and a key item (Ancient San d'Orian Book). Return to San d'Oria and talk to any of the mission guards. They will tell you that the book will need to be deciphered, and will ask you to come back at a later time. Wait until after Japanese Midnight, and return to the gate guard, then head to Prince Trion's chambers for another cutscene.

Head back to the door at (H-8) in King Ranperre's Tomb and pass through it again for another cutscene (there is no battle when targeting the door this time). Once the cutscene is over, return to the gate guard to receive Rank 7 and 20,000 gil.

Skele fight
# Sep 30 2005 at 8:05 PM Rating: Decent
Did this yesterday with a relatively small pt, consisting of the following members:
RDM75/SMN37
WHM60/BLM30

I was doing this for a friend and basically so rdm/smn could solo this with no problem at all.

Whm ran up with sneak, spawned the skeles and then I pulled the middle skeleton and started to fight. Nothing really special to it either. easy fight, just keep up stoneskin and phalanx and you're laughing. One thing which helped up the damage a fair amount was making my own SC with carby. Poison Nails => Savage Blade = Distortion (Blizzard III MB). did that 3 to 4 times for about maybe 6-800 total damage each time. Aside from that, took maybe 7 or 8 minutes to kill, never really got worried about the fight, just took it easy. So that means 5-2 and 6-2 can each be solo'd, now to work on that orc nm in Ronfaure to see how I fare against it

Did this mission with 3 members 65-66 BST, PLD, RDM.

Used sneak pull method with funguar familars, 1 2/3 pets took this to about 80% before everyone engaged. The fight went pretty easy, a lot easier than i expected it to be.

A 65 BST could solo this, after my second pet was about to die i checked and there was still about 2:30 left on Call Beast timer so there would be a lot of charm bind kiting.

Also note that you can charm a higher level mob from below and bring it up with you.. I did this with a Dire Bat but i D/C on my way and it despawned instantly (probably warped back to it's original position) i would think a cutlass scorpion or dire bat would make a better first pet than a jug, but when you release them they might warp back to their spawn.
Still waiting....

Just did this 9/9/05. Didn't read the posts so didn't try killing just 1 Skeleton. We had a party of 5: 75RDM, 73RDM, 65(?)PLD, 62RDM (me) and 57(?)WHM. The fight basically was easy, no one became critical. 75RDM solo'd one the magical Skeletons, 73RDM bound the other, me and the PLD beat on the warrior one. It took a few minutes for us to kill them all. The last skeleton went down fast with 4 of us beating on him. We used a few curaga IIs and a few cure IIIs, but otherwise we were golden.
As for the wait to deciphering, it has been more than 12 hours and still waiting. Gave the book to Gate Gaurd around 7:15 EST on 9/9/05. I have no idea what JPN time was. Will try to update when deciphering is done.

poison potions are a big help if u are an idiot like me and dont have sneak up when u spawn the skeletons, they spawned, slept everyone, killed me, then everyone else in the party ; ;. we owned them next fight tho ^^

Can 3 lvl 63+ BST's do this?
5 of us killed the Shadowlord... i'm sure with Courier Carrie pets we could each handle a skele.
Easy.

Last night a few friends and I set up a 3 way alliance. Got all 3 partys close to full, we were missing like 2 spots if that..

Anyway, we went on our way to do 6-1 and 6-2 for Sandy and Bastok. (Turns out we only needed to do 6-2 for Bastok so we didnt bother doing 6-1)

We got to the rose for 6-1, spawnd the cactar, and oblliterated him. No one was ever in major danger of dying.. 1000 needles did like 88 damage to us.. so it was no big deal. Tank was the only one that needed majority of the healing.

After that we heading to Sandy and flagged mission 6-2 and headed to the tomb. Got to the door and had a SMN pull with Carby. So he sneaked up and spawned the mobs. Carby pulled main one and we destroyed him in a few minutes but we didnt let the others despawn. =/ So we had to fight again.

We all zoned just to make sure we would be able to get it, (zone at the ledge to west ron, its closer ).

Got back to the door and spawned again. WAR and a few others did Lv 3 SC and like destroyed the main almost killing him in less then 1 minute lol. We all disengaged and let the others despawn. Once he did, WAR used ramapage and took out the main. We all ran inside and got the cut scene and key item.

After, we headed to Ifrits Culd. to get Bastok 6-2 for one of the kids. Was another fun battle with the big *** bomb >.>

My gf died though when he exploded, theres like no time to stun him and make him stop =/ She got raise III so it was all good.

Anyway, if your still wondering how many people this should take.. a party of 6 Lv 60+ should be fine. We had no trouble at all.

Im 64 RDM and my gf was 61 WHM. My friend that was with us was a 59 DRK and we were all fine except for the Bastok mission when my gf died.
Don't be afraid.

Tonight a party was formed to do 6-1 and 6-2. 60 drg 60 rdm 60 pld 60 whm 67 rdm and 72 rdm was the pt ({Red Mage} {Power}). 6-1 went down way too easy (I was drg and subbed whm, so we all could heal). For 6-2, the 67 RDM was having connection issues. After a while, we decided to do it without him (he is my friend, so we gave him much time /sigh), and about 30 seconds before we were going to pop the NMs, the pld and whm DC. So me, the DRG, the 60 rdm and 72 rdm decided eh, lets give it a shot. the 72 sneaked up and pulled a single pull, and after 6+ minutes, we downed him. A drg as the dmg dealer against bones (not even able to wield a Bourdanasse or whatever the name of the blund dmg polearm is), and 2 rdm as healers took it down. The pld and whm came online litteraly 5-10 seconds before us 3 took it down, so they got a free NM kill for 6-2.

This was incredibly easy. Me (69 RDM) and a 74 WAR duo'ed this in 3-4 minutes.

The door is on the first map so no need to go down to the basement. The war built tp on the too weak skeletons and bats in the area.. I buffed us and rested to full.. Then I cast sneak on myself and clicked on door.. The three skeletons spawned and we pulled the melee one which was in the center ( you can tell which it is cause other two skeletons will cast icespikes on themselves right away).

I enfeebled the skeleton we pulled and the warrior meleed it and shadow tanked it. I only had to cure II him like twice and I had over 500 mp at the end of the fight (I didn't even use 200 mp). When the skeleton died the other two had despawned so I cast sneak on myself and the warrior (incase we did it wrong and we popped the skeletons again on accident), and we clicked on the door again... It allowed us to go inside and we clicked on the tombstone for the cutscene and key item and then escaped out.

I'm guessing that this is pretty easily soloable at level 70+ if you do it the way we did and only fight one of them. The warrior could have easily done it without me.

Did this today as me 75rng/nin 2boxing with a 64 whm... playing both wasnt a huge problem but it was a little tricky. Im dont play whm much so i didnt have too many macros ready for what i needed. I ended up winning but it was a long fight. I got low on MP 45/850 so i used 2h on rng. Only 1 point where i almost died when i was down to about 150 hp.... couldnt recast shadows cuz i was slowed and he used ... Blood weapon or something like that on me.. hit me for like 450

hope this helps
Hmmm....weird results

I did this a few days ago with my LS.

75 PLD
74 MNK
71 WAR (me)
75 DRK
70 RDM <-- Mission was for him

The fight was extremely easy with the Sneak pull trick. The only problem was that the RDM could not get the option to pass through after other 2 bones despawned. So....we fought them again. We rocked the first one to 1/4 health and the MNK started to go nuts on the second one. I pulled a SATA Steel Cyclone on the bone....damn I love this WS.....and he bit the big one. We killed all 3 so fast that I didn't even get a chance to build TP for a WS until almost the end of the 3rd bone.

Anyhow, a PT of 70+ could walk all over these bones.

I just soloed this as a 73 RDM/BLM and I'd like to share my information with the board.

For starters there is no need to kill all three skeletons. If you pull one away from the other two and kill him without getting the attention of the others then the other two will despawn and your fight will be considered a win, allowing you into the room to get the CS and thus complete this mission.

To accomplish this simply have Sneak on when you trigger the spawns at the door, move away and pull one with a spell (or arrow, or thrown weapon I assume would also work) from a safe distance with which to not aggro the others. I picked the far right one since it was the easiest to target from as far from the door as I could manage. Skellies don't link anyways so this was pretty simple.

The Skelly I pulled cast the following spells during combat.
*Aspir
*Sleepga II
*Ice Spikes
*Burst

Sadly I can't really tell you how much he melees for. I had Phalanx/Stoneskin/Jelly Ring up throughout the whole fight; only taking any significant damage when he used a WS. I think his biggest hit on me was 99 with a special attack. But I wasn't really paying much attention to my incoming damage to be honest.

Normal Phalanx/Stoneskin tanking was enough to win with no real stress. I had to cure myself a couple of times but that was about it. Kept Stoneskin up to avoid him recovering HP with Blood Saber, avoided Burst with Silence and Blink and cut him down to size in a few minutes. Once he was dead I went through the door and finished my mission.

There is NO reason to go and fight all three skeletons when you can easily accomplish the same thing by fighting only one. I used this tactic at a late Windurst Mission (Queen Cardian fight) and it worked so I decided to try it here and it worked just fine.

So don't forget this when you go to finish this fight. Makes it a LOT easier.

just did this an hour ago with 8 ppl lvl range was 58-75 brd went and pulled the blm, silenced it, then kicked his *** then pulled the next and by the time that was over, other despawned, and im waiting for the deciphering part as i type this.
Very Easy If...
# Jul 14 2005 at 6:27 PM Rating: Decent
This mission is extremely easy if you have people in your party who know what they are doing . . . I went with 9 people
62 blm
67 rng
64 pld
72 blm
60 drg
62 mnk
64 whm
58 rdm
64 drk
Firstly we got to Ranperres Tomb and i went to the door and told everyone to come to my position but the drg ( who had no clue what to do) said it was the wrong door, and then the other blm said i was on the wrong floor and that he wouldnt move until his friend came to show us the "correct door". So we wait for about 30 min for his friend to come, and he leads us to the door I was at b4 -_-;; Unfortunatly the mnk ran ahead of us with the rdm and rng and examined the door thinking it was a zone and popped the 3 NM which aggroed the rdm and rng who ran to us XD 3 people died b4 we escaped ( which missed the rng and rdm >< ) We finally raise the dead people near the door, but the rdm (who had no map) had ran away and got lost ><) 20 min later someone went and got the rdm, but then the drg startin complaining that the NM will link and that we cant sneak pull them >< Of course this is untrue because undead dont link !!!! SO finally the blm runs up with sneak and pops the 3 NM and pulled 1 back with stun (Surprise THEY DONT LINK !!!!) Killed each in about 30 seconds
with no problems at all, no one even fell into yellow hp. Kinda mad cause a mission that could have been done in 15 minutes took about 4 hours >< Main thing to remember;

-Door is at H-8 of first map (south of crypt ghost spawn
- NM DO NOT LINK, and sneak pull makes the fight ridiculously easy.
decipher time
# Jul 13 2005 at 1:10 PM Rating: Default
FYI
the deciphering time can be up to 24 hours if you time the mission wrong, the book will be deciphered as soon as the server resets at JP midnight so if you time the mission so you hand the book in like 2 minz before it resets you arent gona have to wait longer than 2-3 minutes for it to be deciphered.
good luck to anyone doing this...
PS you only need to kill 1 skeleton out of the tree, sneak pull one of them and sit and wait for others to despawn, it will allow you into the room after

I just solo'ed this as 73 RDM/36 BLM. I did the sneak pull trick, and then just beat him down slowly. Took me about 30 min to do it. I had to convert halfway thru the fight, but spirits within at 300 tp helped, i think. So not only can bst solo it, though I'm sure it would have been easier as RDM/NIN.

Did this mission with a friends LS yesterday

First time it went straight to hell as some of the members didn't listen to the strategy and rushed off to the door with no sneak no nothing, spawning all 3 and aggroing them, we had some deaths the rest {Escape}d.

While waiting for weakened, I re-explained the entire strategy, we were going for the 1 pull 'cheat', as we were only 5 members lvl52-70

Second time it went off without a hitch and we were stunned at how ridiciusly easy it was considering our lvls, we killed it slowly waiting for the other 2 to de-pop, once they de-popped the 2 blm's popped an ancient magic each and we overkilled it with around 1k damage (burst and freeze were the 2 used I believe)

Afterwards came the EXTREMELY long wait for the decyphering c.c;

I've been checking the guards every so often to see how long a "considerable amount of time" was. The details:

- Finished quest at 3.30AM JP time.
- Checked once every couple hours throughout the day.
- Checked at 11.30PM JP time. No dice.
- Checked at 11.55PM JP time. No dice.
- Checked at 12.01AM JP time. Success!

Talked to a couple people who partied with me yesterday and they said they weren't able to clear the rest of the quest until after Japanese midnight.

In short, I suggest that "a considerable amount of time" translates to "Come back after the server resets at Japanese midnight."

Hope this helps!

Duo'd this with 68PLD and me as 75RDM. Eeeeeeasy. The middle skeleton didn't do barely any damage to me and only had to recast stoneskin once, I was there in my melee gear though with reasonable amount of +attk and +eva. If you do this with an alliance I would strongly suggest to throw as few people at the skeleton as you can, without effective blood saber skeletons are generally pretty harmless.
Thanks to all who posted tips here. =)

Just did this mission last night and thought I might add a couple of things to help everyone out. First, not sure if SE changed it during a patch or not but my party was not able to let the skeletons despawn and get the cutscene. We had one member sneak and touch the door to draw out the skeletons. Two of the skeletons depawned while we fought the other one and we were not able to get cutscene after we killed it. We could have done something wrong... anyone been successful with despawning them lately?? Also, you must wait a "considerable time" after returning the sandorian book to the gate guard so plan your mission 7-1 trip accordingly. I'm not sure of time but have heard from multiple people that you have to wait a whole day. Hope this helps!

Did this yesterday with a 6 member party of 60-63's

Spawned with sneak up and pulled one of the skellies to back of cave, we were suprised at how easy the mob was and were planning on pulling the other 2 just for the hell of it, when we finished of the mob and went to pull the other they had despawned.
Touched door and entered got cutscene, so although we didnt plan on just killing one, thats all we had to do. date 30/05/05 so the despawn method does still work.

Now ive said it was easy, our setup was

Monk (me)
Pal
Drg
Whm
Rdm
another DD
so it was pretty much a standard exp party set-up, we wanted to go with more people but our /shouting in jeuno held no takers so we decided to give it a try.

The skelli went down fast, probably thanks to me starting with 300tp and doing 2 800+ howling fists etc.. during the fight

Ok this is my story. We did this mission today just immediately after mission 5.1. Only took time to get mission and run to tomb. We had one party: lvl 70 whm, 4 lvl 60 something; and me, a lvl 56 monk. Running down to the Tomb, the Whm was still reading this forum.

I'd used my 2hr on the Cactus; it liked to spam needles pushing us into red. Now, we used more tactic than damage. We followed the silent pull technique; it works very well. The puller throws on sneak, and pulls only one of the Skeletons. Pulling the NM back away from the others we all engage. Just before it dies; we all dis-engage the fight. Make sure everyone is clear on that note; one person calls for the dis-engagement. The NM took a few more swings and stopped; the other Skeletons de-spawned. We re-engaged and killed our first Skeleton. We accessed Tomb, and got the key item. We successfully finished both 6.1 and 6.2 around 1.5 hours.

Just finished the fight this second with a PT of 6 ranging from 57-64. This fight was EASY. Like everyone else said just sneak the person that touches the door, pull 1 skeleton, fight it down to small HP then disengage and wait for the other 2 to de-pop then engage your skele again and finish him off.

we had thf/mnk/war/rdm/drk/blm and this fight really was THAT easy.

Also note that no enemies on the way aggrod me at 60 and i could kill them in 1 punch so i'd estimate their levels to be super low (probably below 20) so you don't need sneak you can just run down to the door.

did it to day with about 14 ppl 56-65 had lots of rdm with us like 5 or 6. the hardest part was the wait for the others who didnt have a map or know their way around. when battle started we just stayed back and did the one at a time pull. killed the first two ez a few of us where in yellow but not bad. a skeleton pop right b4 we attacked the last one then when we where about to pull the last one it despawned thought we would have to wait like evertyone else did b4 us that i have read about. but we tryed the door and it let use through dont know why we didnt have to kill the third. just waiting on the book to be ready now.^^
kill all 3

i was in a 2 pt alliance, we were all there and we spawned the Skels and we killed 2 but the 3rd one despawned, we all click on the door and it said something, but was not the option to pass through. most of the ppl in the pt said to go back to the gateguard to finish the mission... good thing i stuck to my guns and told them " we didnt do it right or we would get the option to pass through after clicking" good thing they all listend we stayed for 5 mins the Skels spawned again we killed them all this time and it was done properly... so just to let you all know you have to kill all 3, im not sure if b4 you only had to kill the middle one but im gussing patches change things for better or for worse.

just completed today, you do not need ot kill all 3, we had RNG (wiht sneak) soawn them, SMN (me) pulled corupted sofoiel, killed him then i pulled one of the others, whiel fighting it the 3rd depspawned and all members of alliance were still able to pass through door. From what i was told only Sofffeil needs ot be killed.

I did this the other day. We had a mixed pt. Mostly levels 56-65 with 1 75RDM in the group. Dont forget to set HP in Sandy. Makes it much easier... The skeletons were super easy. Just use your standard AF tactics. Sneak pull one skeleton, they do not link. Kill it leisurely and after about 4-5 minutes the other two despawn. This was by far the easiest rank mission yet. I would almost go out on a limb and say that a smaller group of mid to upper 60's could do this easily.

And as a final note, I confirmed that the server reset in Japan does affect how long you wait for the book to be deciphered. I turned in the book at 8AM CST and at 3PMCST when I got home from work, the book had been deciphered. I know the server reset is 10 or 11AM CST time. Hope this helps.
