Fought this bad boy today ^^
....But our party died >.<
We had 65 MNK, 58 BLM, 61 PLD, 60 DRG, 51 WHM (me lol). We started off with a 65 THF but he had to leave ; ;
First form we were doing okay. But then he was able to kill me with multiple AOEs. So we started to fight the 2nd form with no whm and a blm without MP. So as you can guess, we all died. Can't wait to try again though!
Xarcabard, Land of Truths

Mission OrdersYou must go to Castle Zvahl in Xarcabard. The President himself will brief you in his office. WalkthroughThe Windurst Mission is called "The Shadow Awaits". You must speak with the Star Sybil after getting the mission from the guard. You may need to talk to Halver and Prince Trion for a cutscene in order to enter the Shadow Lord fight. Only one party may take part in this mission at a time. It is recommended you finish the quest "Northward" from Radeivepart (Ru'lude Gardens, Peace Monument) for a map of Castle Zvahl. After you have the mission intitated, head to Xarcabard, then Castle Zvahl Baileys. Make your way in to Castle Zvahl Keep. Beware, there are multiple types of beastmen on the way in, some which detect by sound and others by sight. Once in the Keep, you will need to make your way through several gates and Ore doors to the teleporters. You should kill the demons around the teleporters to avoid trains of mobs. Once you have gone through all the teleporters you will enter the Throne Room. There are no mobs in this area so you can use this place to med and buff. Once that is done head across the bridge to the tower and open the door to the Throne Room where the tomb of the Shadow Lord lies. The first Shadow Lord form will be immune to almost all forms of magic. He later becomes immune to physical damage and so you must finish him off with magic. After you kill him he will of course get upset and come at you again. He will do only AE attacks so make sure to use Curaga spells. Received Mission at Lvl 52.
min level is lower than 55.

missions can be received at any level. the minimum level stated is the recommended minimum level for the Shadow Lord fight.
did it with help from a 75MNK (Rank 10), 61DRK, 55BLM, 52RDM (me), 53DRG, and a 43WHM (lol). the MNK and DRK were helping the 43WHM because she was in their Linkshell. heh... 43WHM Rank 6 ^^ "How Interesting"
We did it and our tank didn't have the quest initiated. We went with 62SAM 59RNG 58WHM 57RDM 55BLM. The ranger tanked with utsu, and we only needed to curaga once and bene once. Demon arrows helped a lot, and between spells from the blm/rdm, tachi: yukikaze and sidewinder, we trashed him. I think that a team of 5 who planned this out well could easily do it. Very fun fight guys ^^
Demon arrows are level 60 so the Rng must have been using some other arrows if he was indeed level 59. Holy bolts would probably be the best to use. Hopefully I will have marksmanship capped and I can use holy bolts for this fight.

this was an extremely fun and challenging fight, I'd probably reccomend waiting for a full pt of 57 to be relatively safe and make life easier on yourself.

well..i mean,sure u wanna kill the lord..but if u do it with one or two lvl 70s wheres the fun by doing it then?i mean..u standing there..just as a " sub " player and the 70s kil the lord very easly...think about it ;)

We just finished the Shadow Lord mission, and there definitly isn't a min level as it says on the mission choice page, our party consisted of Me (49 DRG), 68 RDM, 74 BRD, 54 PLD, 59 DRG, and 60 WHM.

Yay Glor Glor! We just did this mission last night too...54 drk, 55 whm, 56 brd, 59 blm (poor guy deleved on the way from 60 and lost his hat ><)62 drk, 64 pld...we got raped the first time for two reasons...we were unaware that there was 2 forms (or at least i didnt know) and we didnt didnt know about the immune to physical at times, magic at others...we learned that one the hard way...best thing id say to do is to have melee tell the blm when they are hitting for 0 and have him chain the nuke the hell out of him...first time blm wasted all mana (and used Burst once for 0!) getting resisted cause we didnt know, but second time we did it ok...both drks died again, me (54 drk) died cause ima taru and the AE on the second form hurt! Whm was mainly concerned with keeping the pld alive...the 62 drk died while souleating a guilitne then got AEd to death :( Also, the mages should get on the stairs cause it seemd to keep them out of AE range...hope it helps, it was fun and now i have my rank 6 rare/ex mantle!
well, that is an indication of a full lvl55 grp and complete. not with a few high lvls
Title of the Bastok version of this mission is Xarcabard, Land of Truths. You need to activate this by talking to a gate guard in Bastok, then go to the President's Office in Metalworks and speak to Karst.

I did mission 5-1 last night and it was easy i was lvl 46DRG and with a great party now i have to lvl up to 60 so i can kill shadowlord :( now thats gonna take forever
beat shadowlord yesterday people in my pt were
lvl 60 nin (me)

lvl 60 whm

his first form was really easy for us, I only got hit like 3-4 times, 2nd form was also rather easy even with his aoe attacks they only did around 100-200 damage each time everytime he did 2 of those aoe our whm would use curage 2 and bring us all back to full hp and I never lost hate with both the thf and the drk tricking off me

When are they going to add the new missions past 5-2 for Bastok and Sandoria ? Also a the new set Norg mission would be nice too.
Was on the phone with my friend earlier today, and he called me, said he was about to do the mission. I drove over there, and watched. He had some level 75s helping out him and his ls.

I completed this mission last night, and I can personally confirm that there is NO LEVEL CAP for this mission.

Well I've tried doing this mission and failed. Unfortunately my PT teleported into a room where Count Bifrons awaited along with the rest of the demon mobs in the room. My PT (lvl ranging 55-60 plus one lvl 70 help) managed to kill the weaker mobs, but couldn't survive in the end. (Although we did get Count Bifrons health down to 1/2) I hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else heh...

Notice the absense of the Level Cap status icon. Also, notice that the white mage in the image cap is wearing full AF, so she is at least playing at level 60. Based on this evidence (evidence ... strange thing, I know), it seems that there is no level cap for this battle.
