Description

A war within the war rages in the Republic of Bastok. As the nation's legions of fighters continue to suffer heavy losses in the Crystal War, ongoing conflicts between the Humes and Galkas continue to fray the republic at its seams. Bastok's political climate is also in turmoil. Several political leaders were recently assassinated by Tonberries working for the Shadow Lord, and Selbina attempted to declare independence from the republic -- a revolution quickly thwarted by President Prien and his military forces. Meanwhile, the nation's Galka population is frustrated with Prien's inability to improve their living conditions, despite their intense labor in mining and construction to shoulder Bastok's economy. The Galkas miss their iconic leader, Raogrimm, who disappeared a decade earlier in the allied mission to the Northlands.

Outside Bastok, the Crystal War rages on. The republican armies recently suffered a crucial loss in Grauberg at the hands of the Sahagin, and Quadav have taken control of the entrance to Palborough Mines. Adventurers are assisting the nation in several campaign operations against the beastmen, but the fight -- both outside and within -- is far from over.

Points of Interest

• The following NPC's are important in the day-to-day life of any adventurer, and therefore their positions and functions are noted:
• Millard, I.M. grants Sigil at (G-4).
• Weldon at (H-6) and Karlotte at (I-7) can assist with item delivery needs.
• Jagaris, at (I-6), is the local armor storage NPC.
• Annabelle, at (F-8), is the Campaign Evaluator, where campaign participants go to determine if they're worthy of another medal.
• Narkissa, C.A., at (E-8), is the Campaign Arbiter for this zone.
• Hieronymus, at (E-8), provides campaign operation assignments.
• Melina, at (H-5), provides chocobo rentals in exchange for Allied Notes.
• Completion of The Fighting Fourth through Adelbrecht, at (E-8), will enlist you in the Bastokan ranks for Campaign.
• This zone is involved in the SCH Artifact Weapon quest On Sabbatical.
• Please Note: If Bastok's efforts in campaign for the week are not enough to retain control of at least one other zone in their jurisdiction, this zone will become a battlefield. During campaign battles in this zone, the following NPCs will be unavailable, along with many others: Weldon, Karlotte, Hieronymus. While the battle rages on in the city streets, Narkissa, C.A. will not teleport you out of the zone; she will, instead, issue you tags.
