After juggling around the recipe above and trying different combinations of items (logs vs. lumber, etc.), I finally asked somebody in the area who was synthing scorpion arrows. Their response is the correct recipe:
several of the recipes for arrows seem to have this problem. it says 2 feathers but what you really need is 2 fletching which is made by synthing the 2 feathers, and putting log instead of lumber in the recipe. i hope they change it soon. i will send a correction and hopefully they will because it seems to be confusing people.
The iron arrowheads are very hard to find sometimes. most people buy these arrows rather than making them but I'd like to make them to skill up also. the other recipe is kinda expesive w/ the ingot and ash lumber. i might just level my smithing some so I can make the arrowheads myself. It a level 20 recipe so I wouldnt have to get to high I guess but still kinda annoying. If I do level smithing I promise I'll put some on AH on Seraph.
I was just wondering whether the Iron Ingot x 1, Chocobo Fletchling x 2, Ash lbr. x 1 recipe made 33 arrows or if it made more than 33. Iron Ingots are like 2.5k a piece now so i wouldnt make since for this recipe to make only 33. Also, why are there no iron arrowheads anywhere? Do ppl just not make them anymore? I'm a lvl 20 woodworking and i really need to be able to make them to lvl woodworking because elm lumber is too expensive and risky to make.
I believe these can also be bought from a merchant in Selbina, although the name escapes me right now (sells both wood and iron arrows)...he's in the shop up the stairs between the homepoint and the counter where you buy boat passes. After I get a chance to log on tonight I'll get the name.
<<edit>>
Merchant name is Torapiont, in the shop at J-9....iron arrows for 8 gil.
I posted the above, and since San Doria has dropped from 1st in conquest to 2nd and then down to 3rd. When San Doria was first, she sold Silver arrows for 15gil a piece (could be wrong on that price), iron arrows for 7gil (8 before getting some fame), and wood for 3gil (4 or 5 before getting some fame). After we dropped to 2nd place, only wood and iron could be bought. Now, we are 3rd place and ONLY wood can be bought. So, conquest point rankings make a difference in what she carries I believe. Sucks because 700 gil a stack for iron was what kept my ranger fed with good arrows for cheaper then I could craft bone.
