Hunt the Quadav in the Palborough Mines and collect the four parts of a Quadav fetich.

Walkthrough

Accept the mission from a gate guard after completing A Geological Survey. The goal of this mission is to collect all four parts of a Quadav fetich. The parts of the fetich are the Fetich Arms, Head, Legs, and Torso. These parts drop from Quadav in several different areas.

Note: It is also possible to buy all four parts from the Auction House or other players.

Your title doesn't change from doing missions, it changes from doing quests. They are different.

You can only do missions in the town of your allegiance, and you earn conquest points for them and sometimes money too. Your RANK changes when you do missions. You get them from the guards at the gate. They are the storyline of the game and cannot be skipped.

Quests can be done by anyone from anywhere in any town as long as you have enough fame there to do it. Those are where you get the titles from, as well as money and items. You get them from NPC's other than guards at the gate to outside.

You can buy things with your conquest points. Talk to the guard that gives you signet and scroll down to "I want to spend my conquest points." You can earn extra conquest points by doing supply missions, which you get from the NPC that gives you signet, and you can also trade crystals to them once you reach rank 2 and get some. You can give the guy at the outpost stuff in your inventory you don't want and he will add the prices to your conquest points too.

What is this "altar room" thing that's listed as the starting area? The only areas you need are a Bastokan gate guard to get the mission from, then the Palborough Mines for the killings.
Lv 14 Thief having problems!
# Nov 29 2003 at 2:48 PM Rating: Default

Im a 14 thief with 70 Defense but still getting whacked pretty good by the Young Quads which are "easy". Mostly can take them out after they hack away about 50% of my health.

But the danger is that almost any open area or tunnel you rest in, a quad could pop up or travel there before you finish resting.

It'll be hard to convince another 11+ char to join with you since by the time, if they like to group they're gone from this zone already. If they want to solo they wont want to join you or the level difference might be too much. So try to do this early around lvl 9-11 if you want to group.

I also con confirm that a fetich part was dropped by one of the quads in K Highlands.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 24 2004 at 7:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I am a level 9 thief with 40 defense and I do just fine. I found one part and cybered to get the others. I've been hunting Quadav's for awhile now. you must really suck

Repeating this quest will get you more rank points, but you only get the 1000 gil the first time =\ The first time I did the mission I was promoted to rank 2, but he wouldn't give me a new one, I did it a second time and afterwards was able to start the next mission.

Actually, the entrance is at K-3 not 5 =). I don't recommend going deeper into the mines if you're not at least level 10 or so. I am currently at level 11, and I had some problems when I am deeper in the mines and 2 Quadav's attack me at the same time.
Can't pass this mission

I give Cleades the four body parts. And I still have to reapeted this mission. What is the catch. And i'm in rank 2. When i talk to cleades he give me the same mission Fetichism.

Give the guard that casts signet on your crystals you collect or do the job over again. You need more conquest points to get new missions and the required level.
doing it multiple times
# Nov 18 2003 at 5:15 AM Rating: Default
I did this quest about three times.. and each time I brought the parts back to a different guard.. and every time there is a different cut scene.. one with the galka adventurer, one with cid showing up, and one with the president's aid.. Do these all have any significance? since this quest is repeatable...

# Nov 16 2003 at 5:12 PM Rating: Excellent
This quest is VERY hard at level 10
im a 10 Red Mage and i could not do it myself. Even in a group of me and a 11 warrior it was too much. The entrance to the mines is at K5 in N Gust and the pieces are:
Fetich arms
fetich legs
fetich torso
fetich head
you can get them in the AH for 500 each.
You get 1000g for finishing the quest so i earned 2 and bought 2 to break even (saved time)
Am now rank 2 and only level 10 ^_^

it's small, but there is a scroll bar. there are more than the maps shown, just scroll down or click on one and then use the down arrow.
Lengthy..
# Nov 12 2003 at 12:11 AM Rating: Default
Is this mission that hard? I've been going back to the mines for about 5 days now and I've killed well over 100 Quads.. I've only gotten the legs so far.. are these damn things that rare?!
Interesting...
# Nov 11 2003 at 4:26 PM Rating: Default
Well, I remember doing this mission, and I got tired of dying at lvl 8 so I bought 3 of the 4 pieces for 1k and broke even after I returned them, but now that I'm lvl 12, I'm out on the Konchstat Highlands solo and came across a Veteran Quadav out here, who strangely enough, while having the "The Emissary" mission, after I defeated the Quadav, he dropped a Quadav fetich torso.
Finished at level 8
# Nov 10 2003 at 4:31 PM Rating: Default
I can confirm what others are saying: the pieces drop off of *Amber* quadavs on the first floor. Once I focused on the Amber ones to the exclusion of the others, it really sped things up. I ended up getting the last two pieces in under an hour.
lvl 7
# Nov 09 2003 at 11:05 PM Rating: Default
I disagree, i just did this at lvl 7 solo, i have crappy gear and no money. Just stay on first map, took me about an hour to get all 4 pieces.

Im a lvl 7 monk btw.

RE: map?
# Nov 10 2003 at 6:34 PM Rating: Default
There is a map vendor booth in the Bastok Market area that sells several maps, including the mines.
You can solo this at 10

Probably depends on what class you are and where you go in the mine. If you stay on the first level of the mine and in the first map segment you should be OK. I've been soloing in the mine and only get into trouble when I leave the first map. Even then I am OK if I am careful. I am a lvl 12 MNK and have been going there since lvl 10.

Although it is slightly irelevant they can be gotten from the copper/old/brass on the top floor as well but those are Easy Prey still at lvl 30.

I went to one to the mission giving guards and he offered me This Mission Again and the Teleport one with the crystal. I was just wondering. And if you keep trading those crystals with the Signet Givers he will not move you over the rank level line (drats, I tried). He just told me to do another mission.

And, I start selling my stuff at the Outposts and I get a lot more for each item... not much more but it seems to be better to sell junk to them.
Can't finish mission
# Nov 04 2003 at 3:38 AM Rating: Default
I brought back the four fetich quadav parts, but for some reason I can't exchange it. Cleades keeps on saying that I cannot go on two different missions at the same time. I tried the other gate guard and it didn't help. Any insight in to this would be appreciated.

Don't expect to be soloing this mission unless you've gotten yourself up to around level 20... the things you need to kill for this mission are a real challenge for a full group of level 10-12.

Do not attempt this mission before level 10! I can't stress this enough. At level 10, you have access to much better armor and weapons. Before that, you're a liability to any party you join in there. Spend a few hours on any of the "secret hills" in North/South Gustaberg to get yourself up to level 10 or 11 before trying to do this quest.

Take note: Just because you're doing less damage than the other fighters, that doesn't mean that the Quadavs won't take a moment to grind you into paste before returning their attention to the rest of the group, and there aren't many White Mages who are high enough level to cast Raise running around in here.

Not trying to be rude here, but this mission can be done by a lvl 8 character with time and patience, at lvl 8 if u stick close to the entranceyou can take most the monsers with carfull pulls, I aquired 3 of the pieces at lvl 8 before realizing what they were for.

I've heard several people say this, but I have yet to have ANY Fetich parts drop from any Quadavs in level 1 of the mine, after quite a few hours (6+ hours, over two days) of running around in there. I got all of my pieces from grouping with other people, taking on the much tougher Onyx and Veteran Quadavs on level 3 of the mine - and I spent a LOT less time doing it. Even with a full group, we pulled in enough Fetich pieces to finish up everyone's quests (note that some already had several pieces) within a couple of hours.

Until I get a Fetich piece from a Quadav on the first level myself, consider me unconvinced.

Update, 11/6: Eating my words, here. As of 10 PM last night, consider me convinced. I got Fetich Legs off an Amber Quadav in the third room of the cave. So they do drop, but it's a pretty rare drop from the lower-level guys.

Wrong items
# Nov 03 2003 at 12:32 AM Rating: Default
The actual items you need are Quadav FETICH heads/arms/body/legs. These are golden idol parts. The backplate is not involved in this quest.

Due to the description of the items and the actual definition of the word fetich (An object that is believed to have magical or spiritual powers, especially such an object associated with animistic or shamanistic religious practices) I assume that these only drop off of the spellcasting (Amber, amethyst, etc.) quadavs and not the fighters (young, veteran, etc.)

In my experience, all fetiches have dropped from casters and none from fighters

I haven't had any drop off of any lower-level Quadavs (Amber, Amethyst, Young, etc.), only higher-level ones. I thought we had gotten some from Veteran Quadavs, but I could be mistaken... I was too busy trying to stay alive in the higher areas of this mine! If you're correct (and it is a logical conclusion you've made), then you want to kill Onyx Quadavs.

I have gotten them off the lowliest Quadavs at the entrance. I have also had them drop from veterans in the Highlands. The best place to find em? I bought em for 250gil each on the auction block.

The Palbourough mines are located due north and east from the Port Bastok exit. The rough location is shown on the region map. The mine itself is at the very end of the cape at the northernmost area of the map.

Are quadav body, head, leg, arm the exact name of the item you need to get? Because i have gotten some other quadav stuff like a quadav backpiece and torso. And what is the drop rate of these items? I have killed a ton of the quadav guys and haven't got any of the stuff.
