If you beat an elemental you get a cluster of 12 of these. I think it's the same for all crystals.

Facing:
S I was 1/1 on desynthing capes for grass thread = 4 thread
SE I was 2/11 doing same = 4 + 7 thread
SW I was 3/12 doing same = 6 + 6 + 4 thread
SO ... all on same day (Ice Day, New Moon 10%) I got roughly the same rate facing either SW or SE. If I try again I will face NE + NW, don't think it will be any different though. At lvl 48 leathercraft I did 90 desynths of Leather Bandanas (lvl 8 I think) and got only about 26 successful.

Alright I just started desynthing stuff and i'm a bit confused about how often a successful desynth occurs. I mean sometimes i get an HQ desynth and then I have about 5 failures.
I was wonder if theres a wait timer in order to have another successful desynth or what? I know it's probably a newbish question, but i am a newbie crafter. ^^;

I believe the direction has something to do with the color and direction of stars in the night sky. Of course, I haven't taken the time to explore this theory myself. Perhaps facing the star that matches the color of the elemental crystal you're using increases your probability of success and facing the star that matches the color of the element your crystal is strong against produces HQ synths more often. This is the best I could come up with, I hope it helps.

I heard a rumor on Garuda today that if you're facing in a certain direction it helps with the desynthing. In the Lightning element direction I suppose... Does anyone have any knowledge on what I'm talking about? I think it helps sometimes to be facing in the direction of the elements day, based on the element wheel you can find in your guide... But that could all still just be random. Please, any help people could give me would be greatly apprieciated...

I'd like to see some hardcore data to prove this synthesis direction "theory" because no one ever has any relevant results to even account for skill, randomization, and day factored into the direction. Can someone please do a Scientific Method on this and prove or refute it.

well, here's the deal; we don't have any solid factual proof either way, but... What does it hurt to just face a specific direction while crafting? ;p It's not like you have to go out of your way. I for one, will be trying it. I probably won't notice anything, because if this does change it, I can't imagine it changing it more than a single equivalent synth level. Again; it doesn't hurt. Just turn your char and your cam and synth. >>
I don't think there's anyway to prove/disprove this. I don't think the MythBusters will waste their time on this one.

But, seriously...I'm 60 Alchemy and I've tested it numerous time with thousands of synths. The success rates were sporatic and can be classified in any first grade science class and "random."

Ive been getting eratic results from my de-synthing. For example I just successfully de-synthed 9 out of 10 silver hairpins to obtain silver ingots. However the following 15 de-synths didnt result in one success.
I have often found that you get periods of good/bad de-synthing, but cannot directly correlate this to anything since the 25 attempts were on the same (pink) day.

I've been desynthing my Rabbit Mantles, a recipe that caps at 8 according to Allakhazam, and I got only one skill up of 0.2 out of at least 30 synths. My leatherworking was around 5 or 6 at the time. Plus, I noticed I broke more often than anything, and got more HQs than NQs. These crystals are strange O.o
can you get crafting skills of desynthing? I've been desynthing brass rings into ingots (cheap rings now that bastok is number 1!) but hvaen't gotten any skilling up off it. anyone know if you can skill up off it?

[b][/b]I have jsut barley started bonecraft i'm new but i like it. I need to know a few simple recipes that arne't gonna break the bank. I only have like .5 skill in bone craft. All i know how to make is bone hair pin and shell earings, is there any other ones that are easy and won't cost alot???

I'm done a lot of testing with lightning crystals and found that You can use them to disasemble a lot of items. However I cannot succeed on a lot of them due to lack in the skills, however I watched a japanese player doing it and tried off of what I saw.
Take any low level Armor and use a lightning crystal on it.. a lot of them will do something, the ones I have got to work yeild an ingredient that is used in Creating them.. some will give more than what you put in to creat it..
Example: Lightning Crystal + 1 Robe = 6 Grass Cloth, or 12 Grass Cloth is skills are great enough.
Lightning Crystal + any Brass Armor Piece = something.. however I have yet to get any to succeed.
another example of this is Bone Hairpin... bone hairpin is a Wind Crystal + 1 bone chip.
now, 1 lightning crystal + 1 bone hairpin will yeild 1 bone chip, or 2 bone chips if skill is great enough.
Test around, and I hope to find more of these recipies that I can post in the future once I have better skill :)
