Poisoned (FFXI)

Contents [hide]

Analysis

Poisoned is a harmful status effect that gradually damages the afflicted target until it wears off or is removed.
Causing characters to lose HP at a steady and specific rate, depending on the strength of the effect.
The effect also prevents characters from resting whilst they are poisoned.
If being poisoned causes a player's HP to reach zero, this will result in them being knocked unconscious, and needing to return to their Home Point or recieve a Raise.

Damage dealt by the poison effect will wake characters under the effect of sleep.

Using a Poison Potion usually enables characters to avoid being poisoned by an enemy that may have a much stronger poison. Once poisoned cannot be poisoned again until after the initial poison effect wears off or is removed, with some exceptions.

Stoneskin absorbs the damage, allowing the afflicted to rest while poisoned (and the sleeping to remain asleep), whilst Stoneskin is in effect.
The same is true for other spells/abilities that grant a Stoneskin effect, such as Metallic Body, or Earthen Ward.
Poison chips away at Stoneskin's protection.

Regen's effects can counter poison, to a greater or lesser degree, depending on the strength of both effects.
Regen, unlike Stoneskin, will not allow characters to rest whilst poisoned, however.
