I have bin killing crawlers now for about 2 hours and have got 7 silk thread....is it really worth it? i am planning on selling a stack of them in the AH for 10.5k

It's definatly worth it, you just didnt have too great of luck, on Alexander in 2 hours I can find 12-17 pieces of silk thread and they sell for 13k a stack at AH.

These drop from Canyon Crawlers and Carniverous Crawlers, too...

Someone on a website was talkin about how crawlers drop silk is it true they are worth 600 for just one silk or is the guy just a complete moron?

This was my bread and butter for a while. 10-13k a stack. I would farm 10 stacks in about 5 hours. Nice returns, but once I hit lvl 40+ my drops have declined. I will most likely go back with my lower char.

They are currently selling for 700gil a piece on the Bahamut server, before Ps2 players came and flooded the market with them, they use to sell for 900-1000 each
I am still receiving skill increases for this recipe at level 51. The cap is at least 52.

To make this. Lightning Crystal + 2x Crawler Cacoon. Requires Level 48 Clothing. This was given to me by a japanese player after I saw the player Synth it. DOH!!!!

Forgot to mention that. I can sell Crawler Cacoon's on the AH for 400-600 gil, mostly 400 gil. If you look at the cost to sell the crafted item vs crafting and then selling it, then you pretty much come out even. Its great for getting Crafting XP.

I was just curious, since I am trying to put together a list of confimed syth recepies. I have yet to find this on any faqs, or message boards. But since I have seen ppl making it, I know it can be done. Ohh well I'll figure it out eventually.

I know there are some threads that are described as being "silk thread wrapped around a gold wire" or somesuch. I've seen them described in the AH, but it doesn't appear to be in the database here. In any event, it's entirely possible that they're breaking down that type of thread to get silk thread.

the recipe for that is earth crystal+ silk thread+ gold Ingot. it supposedly makes two gold thread

I have seen a few people synthing silk thread, but noone has been able share with me the recepie. Everyone who has responded only spoke Japanese.

I dont know how to synth it but crawlers (giant catapillar creatures) in the windurst area drop them.
