Mission Orders

Follow Prishe to Cape Riverne on the Misareaux Coast. It is rumored a wyrm nests there...

Walkthrough

After speaking with Ulmia and returning to Tavnazian Safehold (Mission 2-4), "Ancient Vows" should now appear in your CoP mission log. In this mission, you will be traveling through Riverne - Site #A01, an area that is capped at level 40. Note that as of the September 2008 update, level appropriate gear is not required for level-capped areas. However, it may be recommended for optimum performance.

To begin, head to the Dilapidated Gate in (F-7) of Misareaux Coast to trigger a cut scene featuring the three infamous Tarutarus, Cherukiki, Makki-Cherukiki, Kukki-Cherukki. Once you are on the other side of the gate, you will see a "Spatial Displacement." Entering the displacement will warp you into Riverne - Site #A01.

To get through Riverne - Site #A01, you must go through four more spatial displacements until you finally reach the BC area. To get through the second and third displacements, you will need to trade a Dragon Scale, which is dropped by Firedrakes. They spawn in the area between the first and second displacement. You will need two Dragon Scales to get through the entire Riverne - Site #A01.

Once you enter from Misareaux Coast, the first spatial displacement is in (L-8). Once you enter this displacement you will be in the area where the Firedrakes spawn. After you have two Dragon Scales, trade one scale to the "Unstable Displacement" in (G-10) and you will be warped into the third area. This area has Atomic Clusters that aggro to sight and magic, so get invisible up and head to the displacement in (E-10) and trade the other Dragon Scale and enter the unstable displacement. This next area is filled with incredibly tough mobs that have true sight, so be careful. Just walk along to right edge to reach the last displacement.

Entering this displacement will warp you to an uncapped area of Monarch Linn where you can enter the Level 40 cap Boss BC area. This uncapped area is a good place to go over fighting strategy and make sure all macros are working properly. After entering the Battlefield, you will receive a cut scene. Now is a good time for the White Mage to cast Reraise. Defeating the three Mammet-19 Epsilons will end this mission.

The Mammet-19 Epsilons are capable of switching jobs during battle. Yellow Liquid, when used, will lock the targeted Mammet's job for around 30 seconds. The different jobs are identified by the weapon the mammet is wielding. The mammets' jobs and abilities are as follows: In any given form, they can use the move Tremorous Tread, which does AOE Damage and stun. It can be absorbed by shadows.

  • No weapon - The mammets' original form.
    • Transmogrification - While active, the mammet will absorb all physical damage dealt to it and convert it to HP.
  • Sword - Fast attack speed
    • Scission Thrust - Directional AOE attack
    • Sonic Blade - AOE Attack
    • Velocious Blade - Five hit single target attack
  • Staff - Slow attack speed, uses -ga elemental magic, has lower defense.
    • Mind Wall - While in effect, any damage dealt to the mammet by elemental magic spells will be absorbed and converted to HP.
    • Psychomancy - AOE Apsir type effect that drains 80+ MP from everyone in range.
  • Polearm - Hits hard but attack speed is rather slow.
    • Gravity Wheel - AOE Damage with Gravity effect.
    • Microquake - Single target damage
    • Percussive Foin - Direction AOE damage

The most common strategy is to have two of the mammets kited and to kill them off one at a time. Jobs that are good at kiting in this mission are:

  • RDM/NIN with good evasion gear
  • BST with jug pets
  • SMN with Carbuncle

Once you defeat all of the Mammet-19 Epsilons, there will be a cut scene after which you will be teleported to South Gustaberg.

Did this last night, setup was:
Pld/war
Nin/war
Drg/war
Whm/blm
Smn/blm
Smn/whm

Pld voked middle and fought that with the Drg, with backup from whm. Nin blink tanked right mob, and the smns avatar burned left. We finished 10 secs later than the record. Yellow liquids help alot, the mob I tanked was stuck at jobless for the entire fight.
This was a joke

Our party set-up was:
pld/nin
rdm/nin
smn/whm
smn/whm
smn/whm
smn/whm

We did this fight last night. Went in and waited till Iceday. Then entered the BC. Did the normal buffs and garuda's aerial armor for the mages while the melee used utsusemi. Waited for the bloodpact to reset. When the pld went to pull the Smns all summoned Shiva and had 2hr ready. Pld pulled with aggro got all 3 of the mammets together in the tunnel and Diamond Dusted away. After doing bloodpact the avatars tanked, Pld only had to flash 1 to keep it off a Smn then Shiva was back up x4 and the fight was over. The Smns used 1 Hi-ether each. Took 2 times for Diamond Dust from each Shiva to waste them and won the BC in 6:30secs.

Of course it was a joke, you used possibly the cheapest strategy available.

For people still waiting to do this, PLEASE LISTEN. This mission is {TOO WEAK} {TOO WEAK} {TOO WEAK}. Let this word bury into your brain.....NINJA!!!!!! Please (bare minimum) take TWO nins with you. If you can get three, woot! Sorry, but, I just can't see ME going as another job for the responsibility I had. I would've only felt safe playing with my two best jobs (rdm or nin). Yes, don't let anyone tell you differently, a nin CAN solo one of the mobs.

Strategy 1: Middle mob = Nin(me), Whm(Kirya), Bst(Cro)
Left mob = Nin(Masa)
Right mob = War/nin(Dade), Rdm/nin(Epsy)

We were using all items we brought with us and everything. I used both of my yellow liquids, and my Persiko's Au Lait. It failed. We held on for a while, but, still lost in the end (The Persiko's Au Lait was a great help). I figured, I was doing fine, but, something went wrong during the kiting process. Originally, I thought we'd just try it again, and things would work out. Then, the party questioned me one more time JUST before entering again, and, I just quickly thought up a new strat. I figured, more responsibilty falls on the kiters, keeping the extras from the main fight. So, I decided to handle one of those myself. That way, if they needed more time, I would be responsible for holding out even longer.

Strategy 2: Middle mob = Nin(Masa), Whm(Kirya), War(Dade), Bst(Cro)
Left mob = Nin(me)
Right mob = Rdm(Epsy)

FLAWLESS! I only had one yellow liquid that someone else gave me. All that dmg I WASN'T taking before, paid off. Since I put ALL of our dmg on one mob, I just had to hold out until the end. All I asked, was for the whm to keep me hasted, and regened (No curing needed). Almost ran into a slight problem when the mob I was fighting changed to a blm, but, even then, the dmg wasn't THAT significant.

I was proud of my team for pulling this off. If I'm available, and others can get a party setup, and are just lacking another nin, I don't mind going. We didn't have aggro issues on the way there (helps A LOT). WITHOUT even mentioning it (I was prepared to ask mages for help for others), everyone had powders/oils as necessary. Stuff like this (preparation), just makes you feel like everyone really wants to win no matter what. Everyone listened (OMG, the importance of that is so underrated). I wasn't being bossy, and they did EXACTLY what I asked. Win or lose, if you just stick with the plan, I'll take the blame (This was my first time setting this up myself too. They did everything I asked of them and more. Once again, {Congratulations!}.

Party setup:
NIN (me), RDM/NIN, WHM, SMN, PLD, MNK

As a NIN, I brought 5 hi-potions, a full complement of Ninja Tools, and some squid sushi.

NIN, SMN, PLD go in, SMN grabs the right one, heads right, NIN grabs left one, goes left, PLD grabs middle, and goes back to the bridge

They have AoE attacks, so it's important to separate them.

NIN solos one, SMN kites one, RDM keeps NIN and SMN alive, PLD, WHM, MNK fight the other.

Since I was busy soloing one, I wasn't paying attention to what the others were doing, I just know the MNK died once, and the mages were running low on MP at one point.

As a NIN, the SAM form was the hardest one for me, liked to do a lot of double attacks, but the other forms missed quite a bit. The BLM form casted lots of -ga spells, but were easily interrupted. I used 4 hi-potions, and the RDM only tossed me a couple cures, so these guys are soloable by a NIN (and I don't even have "uber" equipment, no Fumas or Jujitsu Gi, mostly RSE) I think the lowest I got was down to ~300HP. The Ni elemental spells were doing nice damage, ~300 per trip on the wheel. I also kept them blinded, paralyzed, and slowed.

The first one went down when I was slightly halfway done with mine, then I finished mine off, and the last only had a sliver of life left.

Total time: 18mins

3 NINs and 3 WHMs would be a very nice setup for this.
No tank/Healer method

Party setup.
3RNG/NIN
3RDM/NIN

RDM/NIN EQUIPMENT SETUP! VERY IMPORTANT!
As much Spell Inturreption rate down gear as you can get (I can get my Inturreption Rate down to abou 80-90%.) And Evasion gear These things have low accuracy so evasion gear will work out fine.

Items
-Reraise Items for EVERYONE!
-1 or 2 Yagudo Drink for the 3 RDM just incase.
-Potions for everyone just incase.
-If you want use Yellow Liquid but it shouldnt matter much
-Lots of Arrows/Bolts/Bullets for RNG
-Shihei
-Basicly the normal stuff you would bring along.

Strategy
2 of the RDM kite, Use Stoneskin, Utsusemi, Protect, Shell, Phalanx, and Aquaviel Dont worry about Spike spells they wont help you.

EVERYONE use Reraise Even Rangers!

The other RDM Will Bind, Silence, Blind, Paralyse, Dia and Poison the 3rd mob and stand back preparing to debuff as soon as the mob recovers from them. When Bind Wears off the first RNG will use Shadowbind giving any extra time needed for Bind cooldown do this as much as needed untill it dies and shadowbind with the other RNG as well. RNG will use EES during the First mob I dont think when Its done will matter much just as long as it doesnt heal the mob. When the first mob dies 1 Kiter will take Mob to the party.and again keep this one debuffed with Bind, Silence, Blind, Paralyse, Dia and Poison. Let the 3 RNG and 2 RDM fight it while the 3rd RDM kites the last mob if there are any troubles the RDMs can switch kiting.

Since nobody will be in range of Melee attacks and Magic isnt an issue if its silenced, very little DMG to you party should be done. and If things get out of hand Reraise is there so you can try again.
O.o

I really wish I would've filmed my linkshells fight. Unfortunately, didn't end up like that. However, I do have a really great recap of what happened.

Our set up was this:
NIN/WAR
WHM/BLM
WAR/NIN
MNK/NIN
THF/WAR
RDM/NIN(me, gimped at level 15 sub. XD)

We went in, watched the cutscene, and then went out. We went back in, buffed up, and ran towards the Mammets. I took the Mammet on the right, the Ninja took the center Mammet, and the WAR, MNK, THF took the left Mammet. The Ninja solo'd her Mammet in the center of the BC, while I kited mine around the edge. The other three took their Mammet inside the tunnel, with the WHM standing between them and the Ninja, curing who needed it. The MNK, WAR, THF took down their Mammet fairly quickly, and then went to work on mine. We had a lot of trouble keeping them at a certain job. It seems like if they are surrounded, they automatically hit their BLM-aga spells. We survived through the second Mammet, barely, and went to work on the third. The Ninja had solo'd it all the way down to a fraction of its life (this is one of the best Ninja's on our server) and wasn't showing any signs of slowing up. The last Mammet went a little nuts with AOE's and using its Transformigation(sp?) to absorb our attacks. All in all, we beat the Mammets with very little HP but all shadows were up.

I was so proud of everyone involved I did a little dance. This was our first try, and a few people were even sick! O_O I cannot wait to get to the other BC's & show them who is boss. ^___^

we tried this 3 times over the past 2 days and we almost one the first 2 times but then we changed our strat and raped it

PT setup was this: Melee pt: Sam, Nin, Whm, Rng
Kiting pt: Pld, Smn

what we did was the pld would go in into the big area with smn and nin, he would AGGRO all the mammets, not claim, but aggro. Nin would voke one off, and bring it back inside the tunnel and melee pt would beat at it
Sam 2hr'd near end and smoked it along with RNG 2hr.
Then when one was dead nin would go get another, meanwhile the sn is healing the pld who still has not claimed the mammets.
we would continue to beat the 2 mammet freezing it with yellow liquids when it was on drg form.
when 2nd mammet went down, pld and smn brought last one when we just hammered it with Smn 2hour and WS till it died, the only person who got into a different color hp was kiter, everyone else stayed white entire fight.

NOTE: when in monk form and you see it use transmogrification, Turn around and DO NOT hit it, it will absorb your attacks and heal itself. it will wear off eventually, have a weak attacker hit after about 30 secionds
another success story

1 nin/war
1 thf/war
1 rdm/??? (i dont' think he was ninja)
1 drg/war (guessing sub)
1 whm/blm (meeeeeee)
1 rng/nin

We had 2 unsuccessful normal kiting efforts, ie, 1 or 2 kilters (some combination of the rdm and ranger), voked and gravity. the usual deal. One of the kilters would inevitably need curing, and immediately lloose hate. Promptly causing our healers to go down.

Our 3rd (successful) attempt we did the strat where we had someone agro all 3, and then pull one off the kiter. This way, since the other 2 were never claimed, we could freely heal the kiter. A rdm and a whm were enough to keep everyone alive, and indeed there was only one close call, either the drg or the thf was down to like 50 hp.

I used 2 yagudo drink, and 3 hi-ether on the successful run. another yagudo drink would have been nice as well.

For the final mamaet, we ran low on mp, but the rdm and I could alternate healing, because our kiter was, well, no longer kiting, and being hit.

17 minute battle. one convert was required after the first mamet went down. We had plenty of yellow liquid, and attepmted to keep it locked in drg form. While it was absorbing phsyical attacks, the rdm would nuke if mp permetted. Also, if you are inbetween mamet, and none are currently claimed, remember, benediction is hate free. I did it right before we killed the last one.

A very very very fun battle. Make sure your whm keeps reraise up, so even if you full wipe, you can respawn right outside the BC. Hope that all made sence!

Get 3 whm and 3 nin, 1 nin per mammet, 1 whm per nin. Once one mammet goes down, the other nin moves to whatever mammet is low on HP, kill that one, repeat.

Beat this about a week ago. Our party setup was as follows:
MNK/WAR (me)
NIN/WAR
NIN/WAR
THF/NIN
RDM/NIN (I think, may have been /WHM or /BLM)
SMN/WHM
It took us 3 tries. I was completely loaded with yellow liquid (still have like 7 left O.O used a lot too) and potions. First try:

We went in, got cutscene, then went out to avoid losing for time. Went in again, buffed up, healed MP. One ninja went in and aggroed one, then the RDM aggroed one, and we grabbed the remaining (they were kiting, btw). I keep using yellow liquids on the mammet while it has no weapon (this is where our downfall came eventually). About halfway through health, I used hundred fists, which was nearly a waste because I couldn't attack: It soon began to use the physical attack absorbtion move. We killed it, then rdm died, as well as ninja. They came for us. The SMN ran away and got out so he/she could raise us.

Second try: Got in, buffed healed. New plan: Ninja goes in, aggroes all 3, we get one of them (note: every time, I was first voke so thf could SATA the NIN.) The RDM just heals the kiting NIN. And the fight begins. This time, I avoid using it on anything but the Dragoon type; thing is, it NEVER changed to it. It kept being WAR or BLM. Anyway, the red mage went thru all MP and convert, so healed, grabbing hate, and death. So then they come for us and and kill us, smn runs away to raise us.

Third and final try: I'm starting to get down a bit. Almost out of potions and no 2HR. Anyway: Same plan; NIN goes and aggroes all 3, rdm stands back to cure him. I voke, SATA'd on the NIN, and we wait a bit. What's this? What's that in its hand? Oh me, oh my, it's a polearm! /item "Yellow Liquid". That occupies the mammet awhile. Eventually, it switches to WAR, gets an AoE in, switches to DRG again, Yellow Liquid. Sometimes changed to monk, blah blah, absorb physical, changes to blm once, taken care of. First one's dead. All right! On to the second:

It's now a whole lot easier for the RDM and NIN, so that's good. Anyway, it basically goes the same way, only a bit easier due to more dragoons. Third one:

Ends up being a WAR, so no yellow liquid. We might as well be done by now, considering the NIN kiter and RDM are back, rdm with enough MP. Since the mammet is a WAR, it attacks too fast and kills main tank, however the kiter is there. So NIN vokes. Now the SMN calls out Shiva for Diamond Dust, which brings it to about 1/3 HP. We finish it off with a few swings and weapon skills, receive a CS and are suddenly warped to Gustaburg =D.

Be very very prepared (I was a bit overprepared) for this fight. Bring plenty of yellow liquid and Hi-Potions.

One last note, may I add; on the second round, our possible downfall was when the THF readied a SATA, but then before attacking, monk used HP absorbtion attack, leaving no time to respond.

And here's a key, btw: WAR = sword, DRG = Polearm, BLM = Staff, MNK = No Weapon/FlasherHandThingie.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Did this fight on the weekend. Party setup was:
NIN/WAR - Lucian
WAR/NIN - Vult
MNK/NIN - Kudra
WHM/BLM - Clavical
RDM/NIN - Jackyll
RDM/NIN - Chicasuave

We went in did all the normal buffs etc. We used jack'o lanterns for the +evd/+acc bonus. Mages had pies, ethers etc. Melee camped at the bottom of the steps with whm at top. Me NIN/WAR and the 2 RDM/NIN went in I pulled the middle Mamet and had the rdms take the left and right mamet and kite them with gravity/bind while we went to work on the first mamet. I did normal debuffs para/slow/blind and proceeded to spam my nukes aswell. Alternating vokes when needed with WAR/NIN. MNK/NIN helped save mp on whm aswell. Saved the yellow liquid till we saw the mamet change to a long delay weapon then droped the liquid on him. (longdelay + para/blind/slow and the evd bonus from the jackos really saved shadows not to mention mana supply) and we also locked one of them on BLM and silenced him which worked pretty good too. We also brought along some powder boots for the rdms to help em get away if bind/grav didnt stick.

First run one of the rdm went down cus it resisted grav/bind 2 times in a row and we wiped pretty hard.

2nd run one of our rdms died while fighting the 1st mamet cus the other rdm had an error with his graphics card and couldnt see what was going on and when the first rdm dropped the 2nd followed shortly after and we wiped.

3rd run - same style I pull middle each rdm takes one of the others. bind/grav stick - 1st one down I run in and grab 2nd one depending on which rdm was closest or was a little low on HP. Then had both rdm take turns helping each other kite the last mamet while we went to work on 2nd. After that it was pretty much all down hill. Watch out when they change to that short sword that has some REALLY LOW delay cus it ate thro shadows like a fat chick eats cupcakes. After 2nd one fell we all moved in to the lastone and proceeded to tear the %^(*&^ out of him. Was one of the more interesting fights we have had doing these missions. We did do a couple experimental runs before hand to see what we were up against but only took us 3 tries. We are now on PM 3-5 Diabolos fight which we gonna be doing on Tuesday night. Will post our strategy on there. Hope this helps anyone planing on doing this. Rdms said the boots were pretty much key for kiting them when grav/bind didnt stick, although its 10-min reuse on it.

EDIT: Due to that ridculously long @55 update we didnt get a chance to do the Diabolos fight yet, still scheduling another time. Hopefully tonight if everyone is online.

So I just did this yesterday well me and my friend were Lanning. We decided to start a party and we ended up with this:

PLD/WAR (me)=x9 Hi-Potion x5 Hi-Ether x12 Echo Drops x1 Steamed Crab
WAR/NIN (my friend)=x8 Hi-Potion x12 Echo Drops x1 Jack O Lantern
SMN/WHM =x5 Hi-Ether x? Yagudo Drink
WHM/BLM =x? Hi-Ether x? Yagudo Drink
RNG/NIN =NO FOOD!!!
RNG/NIN =x? Hi-Potion x1 Sole Sushi

I read all these posts and from what I read when I finished making the party it seemed really strange compared to the recommended party with RDM/NIN for kiting and what not. So after some farming of the wyverns for the giant scales and a death by me and one of our RNG/NIN 2hour on a wyvern to kill it, when he didn't even need to, we got to Monarch Linn and prepared a strategy.

1st battle
We got in ate our food got our buffs and we decided that one of our RNG/NIN would kite and the SMN/WHM would kite the other one, he used Fenrir if anyone cares. Then my friend in room with me went and voked the middle one and brought it back to safe zone and me, RNG, WAR, and WHM started beating on it. We barely used any of our items and we almost killed the first Epsilon when the RNG kiting went down so we decided to abort and some of us died but WHM had reraise and when we got out of BCNM we raised and rested and constructed a new strategy.

2nd battle
So this time we busted in with revenge on our minds and a completely new strategy that to me seemed alittle weird, but it worked lol. The SMN/WHM was gonna kite one again and we switched to the WAR/NIN kiting the other so that we could have 2 RNG on the first one beating it down. So I went out and pulled the middle one and brought back to safe zone and me, RNGx2, and WHM started beating on it and got it down to about 15% and RNG 2h to get it almost dead and then finally we took care of it. I told my friend in room with me to bring his into safe zone so we could start beating on it. He brought in and we commenced the beating well the SMN/WHM was still kiting the 3rd one. At start of battle WAR/NIN 2h and just our luck it used Absorb DMG and we weren't doing crap damage to it for awhile, when we noticed the SMN was about to get ****** and he died and we urged WAR/NIN to go back out and start kiting the 3rd one again. We eventually started doing damage to the 2nd Epsilon and I 2h during this fight because hate was bouncing really bad. It was mainly a WHM for the duration of this battle and we finally killed it, but by this time the WAR/NIN was almost dead so I ran out into grass area and voked off the WAR and started kiting myself well the WHM rested so he could start curing again. Me and WAR/NIN bounced hate and kiting for awhile well RNG attacked from afar and we used like 1 Yellow Liquid to keep it on WHM job well it chased us. We finally got it down to like 5% and everyone was out of their 2h, SMN was dead, and RNG took it out. All in all that whole battle was so fun It renewed my hope in CoP. I had such a blast and it was a great adrenaline rush. Completetion Time = 17 minutes 17 seconds.
And the cutscene was totally worth it.

I wish you guys luck on this!!
Come Prepared

Ok, so I beat this with a set-up that was fairly average and prolly only won because we came really well prepared. Our set-up was...
Pld/War
Drg/War
Rng/Nin
Whm/Blm
Rdm/Nin
Rdm/Blm (me)

We entered the battle with 3 yellow liquids each, 3 hi-pots for the melee and 3 hi-ethers for the mages (including pld). Our big problem was me not having Nin leveled enough to sub for kiting a mammet so we decided to try to kill the first mammet fast so the melee could pull my mob off me. The Rdm/Nin would continue to kite the other mammet since he had nin subbed and could do it longer. The melee decided to use their liquids to stick their mammet as Drg but I kept mine as mnk because its attacks were too weak to break through stoneskin+phalanx. We go in, me and the other Rdm bind our mammets and the melees and whm take the other. It was going well until Rng 2hr healed the first mammet and I was losing control of mine. I ended up chainspelling and held the mammet with bind just long enough for the melee to finish off the first mob. I converted and helped with the second mob and it went down fast. The third mammet gave us trouble because it killed the Rdm/Nin just as Pld went to grab it and then switch to Blm and started spamming AoE nukes. Just before everyone died it changed jobs to Drg and we were able to stick it like that. From there on we didnt really have any problems and were able to win with only the Rdm/Nin being killed. Just a bit of advice, although you dont NEED yellow liquids to win they can help a TON both for the kiters and for the melee. Also bring plenty of hi-ethers and hi-pots if possible.
VERY important detail!

This is not a well known fact about mammets but it should be. They can only use transmogrification as monks and can only use mind wall as a black mage. Meaning, if you lock them as a dragoon, you can go completely to town on them.
Odd experience

My experience with this fight, it seems as if it is easier without melee 2hrs. Everytime a melee has 2hred, the darn things have used the damage-absorb thing, even back to back for a minute straight (which sucks, using hundred fists or mighty strikes and then turning around so as to not heal it ><). I have tried this thing 7 times, 3 of which I was tanking as a monk and tanked very well. The only reason we lost those times was that one of our kiters kept dying (he was 38, and deleveled to 37 ><). The time I won I was not tanking (officially, I did get hate alot temporarily) but still as my monk, it went very smooth.

PT setup for the successful attempt:
war/nin tank
rng/nin
mnk/war
whm/blm to keep us 4 alive
rdm/blm kiter
smn/whm kiter

The four of us took down the first mammet asap while the kiters kited. Then the smn brought his mammet in and 2hred it twice with ifrit. This caused it to use the physical damage absorb and then the magic damage absorb (hah!) so the fight took as long as the first mammet. Then rdm brought his mammet to camp and it was cake from there, though smn used last charge of 2hr and it did the physical damage absorb again lol. This was our third attempt so we were all out of hipotions and yellow liquids, whm and smn still had mp regen drinks and smn still had an ether.

So it seems that 2hrs that last 30 seconds (mighty strikes, hundred fists, manafont etc) aren't useful or worth it, the mammet will simply use the damage-absorb ability and take longer to kill because of that, and little if any damage from the 2hr will actually hurt the mammet. Rng and smn 2hrs did damage it, since they are instantaneous and can be timed to avoid the damage-absorb, but the mammets used it right after the 2hr for 30 seconds of no damage whatsoever, so the net effect was the same as if we had not used the 2hrs at all.

Edit: btw, I think they have nerfed the drop rate on the scales. I used to do the 3-person Monarch Linn ENM every week, the three of us could easily kill 2-4 T-VT firedrakes and get two scales. Lately it has taken 10+ kills to get the two scales... /fume SE

Our failed attempts

Well I tried this as a ls event, having a thf, war/nin, smn/whm, mnk/war, whm/blm, and pld/war.

This party did fairly decent throughout the four attempts we tried. Almost would get the first one down when someone died and all hell broke loose.

I will confirm one thing though - these NM aggro to cures like any other mob I've fought. We lost the whm twice because of our believe that the NMs do not aggro cures.

We're trying again tomorrow - will post how it goes.
