What Woodworking level is this? I know it says 74 on every website but I just crafted about 10, excluding some fails and haven't gotten a single skillup and I'm at 72.

To break any rod your fishing skill needs to be high enough to catch the fish big enough to break the rod. On the ship that would be 60+ tuna, shark, some marlin, maybe black sole. I'd check clan winds fishing database for what fishing lvl/area/fish will break these rods. You need register to gain access to the database area but the information is more than worth it.

For the last couple of nights a mate and i have spent excess of 6 hours riding back and forth on the ferry in hopes of breaking these poles for my WW skillups... there in lies the problem!! I dont know if we are doing something wrong but with a skill of 2 ive managed to pull up close to a stack of noble lady's a bunch of cone calamary and other assorted stuff and never break the rod. Tried to look around to at other post's to find out how you break a rod but couldnt find any. Any help would be awesome

Hume Fishing Rod + Rogue Rig is excellent for catching Shall Shells. I have been using this combination lately in Buburimu Penninsula (I have a secret fishing spot there ^.~) and making lots of money since Shall Shells are going for about 19-20k/stack right now on Ifrit. You do want to be careful of items, though, as I have snapped a few lines and Rogue Rigs aint cheap. ; ; If the fish's stamina is going down really fast it's probably an item. Happy fishing! ^^

This rod is excellent for small fish(stackable). There's a catch, however, one must be careful and pay attention to fishing "con" messages.

It's imperative that all catches, with messages containing 3 exclamation points are escaped out. One also must pay attention to how fast stamina is being depleted, in order to avoid rusty items, which can also damage this rod.

If you are an experienced fisherman, this rod will net good skill ups, decent durability and enable you to catch small fish with ease.

Just got this rod in San d'Oria AH for 10k and well worth it.
With 93% full moon on Water and wind days with lvl 53+4 fishing skill in Windurst Waters I used a Little worm. 72 worms got me 64 Moat Carp 7 Gold Carp 2 Rusty Leggins and 3 Rusty Buckets.
No Crayfish were cought like I get with a carbon or Mithran rod.
It might break on Rusty Subligars b/c I got one message that said I had a Terrible fealing... and I wasn't about to break this rod after one stack of worms.
This is a great rod so far I got no too small for this rod messages like I get with the Mithran.
This rod makes me happy and sad... since I've already turned in 5000 carp about 2mil worth on my server it's looking like the only thing Lu Shang's will do for me is let me catch legendary fish... oh well if that's the way it is 5000 more to go.

I don't think that's any way to say what the cap is and is not. Because you're not getting skillups quickly enough, it must be 73 and not 74? Well, I'm 71 and in 12 I got 0.1 skillups (true), but that doesn't mean it's 72.

Also, desynthesis caps at 74 as well.

Hey man, I spent 31 lvs as a whm/war before switching to a drk/war. I never had any problems with mp, and i could contribute to melee better than most melee jobs (with a hammer anyway). As long as I had a good tank then there are no problems (but then again, I always have good tanks, inferior players get the boot from my parties.)
